We wanted to try out cruising, and being school teachers, needed a cruise that left or arrived in our home town during school holidays. This 4 night cruise from Auckland to Sydney was perfect. Embarkation was a breeze at the port of Auckland. There was no problem with being dropped off with luggage right by the terminal. We were happy with the cabin, it was exactly as we expected after researching. It was comfortable and clean, with everything we needed. Our steward was amazing at looking after us. That was actually the theme of the cruise - the most incredibly staff are on Princess. Our daughter has coeliac disease, and safe eating is the hardest thing when travelling with her. Not on Princess though - we ate in the formal dining room for pretty much every meal after the first day as the food was incredible, and they were able to cater for my daughter's gluten free needs, as well as her wants. I was blown away by how great the food was. The other options on board were perfectly good (we had breakfast once at the buffet, and tried out the terrace grill for lunch as well once, both good meals), but the anytime dining at Traviata was super special. Bar service was equally great. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble. There are amazing cocktails on Princess! Our daughter had great fun at the youth club, and she also loved the pools. We became addicted to the trivia sessions, and found that there was always something to do if we wanted to do something. The show Encore was amazing, extraordinary talent. Lots of live music from classical to rock band, at all different times, and loads of opportunities to take part in activities - not bad for a 4 night cruise! The crossing was a wee bit rocky - as it often is when crossing the Tasman, which also meant they couldn't disembark at Bay of Islands, but they really tried to make it happen. We weren't planning on getting off there, so that didn't impact us. We were having too much fun exploring the boat. We would absolutely sail with Princess again, the trip exceeded expectations in so many ways. Read Less

We chose this particular cruise as we both enjoy Sea days and the cruise experience. This particular cruise from Auckland to Vancouver had plenty of these with only six ports. Time seemed to fly by, with all the activities going on. The crew and staff were friendly and welcoming. Activities were varied and plentiful should we wish to take part. And the food .well that was great! We chose often to go more casual dining in the horizon or indeed catch a movie and have pizza. But we also went formal to anytime dining, in the dining rooms available to us, whereby the waiters would be friendly and helpful. We had a back to back cruise so continued on to Alaska, we found that the leg from LA to Vancouver changed the dynamics of the passengers as many left in LA and others came on for a short cruise to Vancouver, then new people joint the ship for Alaska, which changed again, so this was a new experience for us. However, this did not deter from a great trip Read Less

Such a fantastic ship and the step up in quality from our previous provider was HUGE. I didn't think it would be that different from our previous cruises but it really was. The rooms were so much tidier and newer. The bed was very comfortable and the air con worked well. On previous cruises the air con didn't work which was horrid. Food was fabulous, outstanding in fact and we all put on weight lol. I think above all the dining staff were superb - they went above and beyond their duty each night and we really were grateful. We ate in the Symphony restaurant and recommend it highly. We had a meal in one of the specialty restaurants but we still preferred the Symphony. We thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment which was also a big step up from the previous provider we've used in the past. We would definitely recommend this ship over other providers of similar value. We were so impressed that we have booked two more cruises with this company. Read Less

We chose this cruise to experience a reasonably new ship and to have a Christmas at sea. We overnighted in Auckland before going down to Princes Wharf about midday on the 18th. Our bags were whisked away in a flash and we then presented ourselves at Check In. As we were the first deck to load we were on the ship around 1230hrs and got our first look at the Atrium all decked out for Christmas with Carolers preparing to welcome all with Christmas cheer, We decided on a quick visit to our stateroom to dump our carryon luggage and then head off for lunch at the World Fresh Marketplace on deck 16, There was plenty to select from and we were soon replete and off to our Mini Suite (R210) on Riveria Deck (14) to unpack and meet our Stateroom Attendant Johner who looked after us very well throughout the cruise. The cruise itself was everything we expected it to be and more. (Snow in the Atrium during Christmas Carols, lovely food all over the ship, friendly helpful staff everywhere and what a beautiful ship decked out in her Christmas finery). She is indeed a beautiful ship but some small things puzzled us, like no wrap around Promenade Deck (deck 7), having to jog into and then out of the Sports court as you do laps and more could be done with the mini golf greens to make them interesting. The trek from the front of the ship to the Allegro Dining Room requires the use of more than one deck as there is no way to walk the length of the ship on deck 6. (where the Concerto and Allegro dining rooms are located). Still good for the digestion I guess. These things should not detract from the ship as a whole. She is indeed a Majestic Princess. We were located in the Allegro dining room (Tradional Dining) and were looked after by Elvie and Roy. Elvie is the consumate professional. She is vivacious and funny and we didn't just eat there; we were entertained and enjoyed every moment of it. Roy is a shy young man, but very friendly and efficient and looked after us well. They were a great team. As for our Stateroom it was excellent even for three people. The only small problem was that the curtains which divide the room didn't mearly meet in the middle. It was kept clean and tidy throughout the cruise. The entertainment on this cruise was absolutely first class, from the shows in the Princess Theater, the entertainment in the Atrium and of course the other bars and showrooms although we didn't spend much time in these. The Cruise Director was efficient, funny and had the ships entertainment running like clockwork. He even ran a Christmas Church service which was well attended. I think this is all I need to say about this cruise. I do however have to mention the disembarkation in Sydney. It was smooth, rapid and we were in a Taxi heading for our accommodation in a most timely manner. Top points for this. Read Less

We chose this cruise to celebrate with a friend who was turning 70. Having this celebration and Christmas on board was a highlight. The boat was decorated throughout with Christmas decorations, making for a pretty sight. Whever you dined the food was exceptional along with the staff that worked continuously throughout. Talking about the staff - we made conversation with quite a few to learn where they came from, how long had they been on board and whether they enjoyed working for the Princess and they in return found out about us. In short - very happy and friendly. Cabin was small but still well set out and decorated. Chai, our housework saviour was spot-on! Bed was made, room tidied, bathroom cleaned and towels changed, each day. At night he straightened the bed and left two chocolates for us to enjoy. For us woman, this alone is magic, it left us time to enjoy the cruise. Entertainment each day and night was well orgainized and plenty to visit. Bar attendants quenched our thirst without a hitch. Entering the Dusky, Doubtful and Milford Sounds on a beautiful day was breathtaking. Sydney harbour is very pretty. We parked between the opera house and the bridge!!! Embarkment and Disembarkment was so easy, thanks to the experienced staff. So, thank you Majestic Princess for a lovely cruise and for ordering the calm seas. Read Less

This is only the sixth cruise of my lifetime (on five different lines) and it was easily the best of the lot - to say nothing of the tremendous value it represented versus Regent et al. Even if all six cruises had identical prices, this cruise would have earned first place by a wide margin. The ship, itself, is so new and well-maintained that it spoiled us with its finishes and amenities. Embarkation was truly efficient and we never felt there were 3500 guests and another 1500 staff. It always was so spacious - a genuine achievement. The staff was a tremendous blend from around the world - Antonio from Portugal did a yeoman's job as our cabin steward and Monika in guest services lounge was priceless to us in terms of helping secure meal reservations for our difficult party of 7. Room service in the mornings was unbelievably precise and prompt - the best we've ever experienced. Great amenities for the kids and teens (of which there were many on this Christmas Cruise). Our captains (one from NZ and one from Italy) did a tremendous job with the seas and we had the smoothest sailing I can remember. Our day in the Fjords and Milford Sound was one of the most rewarding, sunniest and relaxing days I will ever live. Harmony Restaurant (and expecially Caesar) won our hearts for the extraordinary menu, service and ambience. Crown Grill was the best team on the ship - Dennis at the front and Jaron from Serbia - best waiter anywhere on the ship. The Concerto and Symphony dining experiences were average in terms of both food quality and inattentive service (mostly from inexperienced, young Eastern European servers). La Mer was a standout experience until that music starts to play in La Piazza below and any opportunity for a civilized experience goes out the window. The music on the ship was uniformly bad (the open La Piazza is a genuine problem for programming) and the 'program staff' was an odd group with an over-inflated sense of self-importance, but they could not detract from this extraordinary experience and the truly flawless itinerary. One significant disappointment was that tidal levels significantly shortened our visits at every port and as my family was strictly doing independent shore excursions, we were under outrageous pressure throughout the cruise to return under the shortened time frames. There was always a tour that arrived after the ship was already to have departed (according to the posted 'All Aboard' time) during this particular sailing. Leaving from Auckland, sailing Milford Sound, visiting Tasmania and Melbourne and arriving in Sydney (at Circular Quay, no less) is a simply flawless itinarary. Christchurch, Dunedin and Rotarua are all brillint spots to visit and pre- and post- tours in Auckland and Syndey are not to be missed. This itinerary is a 5 out of 5 and being onboard with mostly Kiwis and Aussies made the trip especially pleasant for us, as Americans who are not accustomed to such polite colleagues. Read Less

I had previously travelled on this cruise in November 2015 with my wife, who has since recently passed away. Her last wishes were for me to complete this cruise as a memory of the previous one in 2015. I have experienced a wide variety fun by joining in with the activities and even being invited onstage by Russel Harrison a great singer as one of his backup dancers ! This was one of my favourite moments and the volunteering to join in with the Chef versus the Barman Challenge as the Chief Judge, another highlight. Overall the entertainment was First Class and the Entertainment Director Du Vaal is one of the best and always took time to talk and also his team were tops. Food was adequate and activities - one could choose what they wanted to do. Either join in with the program or totally relax - your individual choice. I was also lucky enough to meet a few wonderful people with whom I believe will be life long friends. Overall - A Great Cruise one I will never forget. Read Less

We did the same cruise 2 years ago, I love cruising around New Zealand, different port each day, so much to see with the mountains, green landscapes, geothermal valley's, lovely rivers and of course Fiordland a magical place to visit, we have cruised the Fjord's in Norway but they don't compare with the New Zealand Sounds (Fiords). The Sun Princess has been recently refurnished and looks good for a older ship.its bright with good open spaces and you can walk fully around the open deck. The Sun Princess service was excellent as usual and the dining experience was wonderful. I was impressed with the shows on this cruise we did not have an second rate comedians, in fact there were no comedians which was very good because most can't do a show without bad language today. Because we got on and off the ship in Auckland we did not have to queue on embarking and disembarking it took no more than 15 minutes each way. The only down side to the cruise was the weather at times. We had a Premier Ocean View cabin which was very good just that bit extra space makes a difference, the cabin was fresh looking and clean, the ships bathrooms are small but functional. There were about 2000 guests on board the ship which is good, smaller ship tend not to have the same services and entertainment and large ship have just to many people especially at a tender port. We liked the itinerary and we really enjoyed the cruise on the magnificent MAJESTIC PRINCESS, a truly amazing ship. The shows were all top class, a big crowd every night. The Dining Stewards were amazing nothing was too much trouble for them. It is a very large ship which handled the rough seas coming across the Tasman Sea very well. The Captain was very good and kept everyone up to date with the details of the weather and how far we had travelled and what to expect each day. The Cruise director was excellent also his staff they made it a very enjoyable cruise, we look forward to cruising again on this amazing ship in the near future. The dancers and singers put on some amazing shows and the guest artist were amazing as well, the Pop Choir was very good made up of talented cruisers and the Voice at Sea was also very good, all from fellow passengers. We sailed from Auckland to Southampton to get away for the winter and visit place we had never been. The ship had been recently refitted and was in a very good condition must better than I had expected which is always very nice. Although the cabin are small it was OK, we started off with a Queen size bed but after a couple of days we had then change the configuration to twin beds which gave us more room. The cabin was in a very good condition and met our needs, With Princess the Dining in the dining rooms is always very good, very pleasant dining room, good food and very helpful waiters. The entertainment was a mixed bay some shows were excellent and other not so especially the comics's, overall it was good and getting top acts each night on a world cruise I expect could be difficult. The on-board enrichment lectures were very good as were the daily activities, we took part in art classes, the pop choir, Zumba, Trivia and the daily bible studies. We could not fault the service we were well looked after. We went on quite a few shore excursions and found them to be very good, going on the ships excursions are quite expensive but worry free. The Middle East in the Northern Summer was very hot up to the mid 40's and Europe was also quite hot. I'm not surprised the World Cruise is booked up early, mainly it seems with people who have done I a few times, because it was excellent. Read Less

Delicious food with lots of variety to choose from. We decided not to over indulge so only had breakfast and late dinner. Ate very healthy meals every day. Staff service the best we have experienced from being served drinks, clearing tables and immaculate staterooms. Absolutely loved our time on board. Had spa, swim, massage, acupuncture to name a few of the things we indulged in. So much to do. Activities for all ages and tastes. Great atmosphere, great crowd to sail with. Friendly people sailing and willing to share experiences. Exceeded all of our expectations. We appreciated the small, little things like chocolates left on our pillows, lights left on in our stateroom if we went to a late show. Our steward became our go to person for advice and information. Embarking and disembarking quick, organised and efficient. Excursions were fun and informative. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour guide Steve for the Lord of the Rings excursion. We chose this cruise to do something out of the ordinary for New Year's Eve. Granted, we still ended up spending the countdown in our room, away from the crowds, but it was magical. The ship is so smooth, apart from a little rockiness here and there. The staff are attentive and dedicated to their roles, helpful whenever you needed anything. The entertainment that we got to participate in was awesome, but we simply could not sample everything. The food was almost always amazing. But the coffee was pretty pathetic. Oh well, you can't win them all. Some real barista training would NOT go astray, but if that's all I can complain about on the cruise, then I'm doing pretty well. The Lotus Spa staff were incredible, they made me feel special, and seemed to take enormous pride in their jobs. I came out each time (every sea day I treated myself!) feeling wonderful. The staff of Sabatini's were simply lovely, even sending me some crackers and apple to my room when I had to cancel dinner one night due to some seasickness. Cruise Director Marcus was always happy to help, and very approachable and friendly. The main entertainment staff were simply lovely, including Ryota, Kaori, Ian and Yumi. Their enthusiasm and energy were so joyful to watch. I will always look back on this trip with so much happiness. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience. Read Less

We wanted to experience a New Years eve doing something different and out of the ordinary. The Daimond Princess was the only ship departing Auckland on the 31st December. Been first time cruisers we thoroughly enjoyed our cruising experience, we found all the staff friendly and helpful. Yes it was NZ and Australia school holidays but found the children didn't worry us at all. The ship was that big there was plenty of room for everyone. There were a couple of swimming areas for adults which we found sufficient enough. Our cabin A429 could of been a little bigger as it was one of the cabins that accomodated up to four people but I suppose the whole idea of the trip is not to be cabin bound. Our beds were clean and comfortable and had no complaints about how our room was serviced. The Ports and shore excursions we thought were very well organised and the shuttles were a great idea. We had a 7:45 dining time and found this suitable for us, we dined at the International every night with great food and our waiting staff were fabulous. Plenty of entertainment every night and the shows were well performed with some very talented people. The only dissapointing thing about the cruise was that we didn't get to see the Captain. Our whole experience will leave us with great memories on board a beautiful ship. Read Less

We took this particular cruise ship as it was going to places we would never have got a chance to see otherwise - French Polynesia mainly. Our expectations were high and they were met. Embarking was easy at Auckland - virtually walked right on. We booked an obstructed view cabin and we were more than happy with it. Although the view was partially blocked we did get a good amount of natural light coming in. The room was spotless and our steward was wonderful. Fresh towels all the time! Although some parts looked a bit tired it didn't matter because everything was so clean. We couldn't believe there was so much food available- you could eat 24 hours a day if you wanted. We had booked the Anytime Dining and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The food was good, at times very very good. The waiters, on the whole were great, pleasant and entertaining when you wanted (there will always be a few exceptions to the rule). The service was excellent. It took awhile to get used to all the hand washing required but as no one came down with any stomach bugs, I guess it worked! We tried the pizza (excellent) the Hamburgers (great), the ice cream (not so), the International Cafe (excellent) and the Horizon Court (also excellent). The Pub Lunches were a great idea and very popular. We did not try the specialty restaurants as we would not have been able to do justice to the menu - we are both quite small eaters. The entertainment was very good - the string trio that played late afternoon was amazing. Some of the acts in the theatre were of an extremely high standard, but unfortunately some of them were pretty awful. It didn't really matter as we always found something to do. The shore excursions were booked online before we left and we were very satisfied with them and gave good value for money. No problems getting off or on the ship by the ships crew and security. We went to quite a few art auctions and found them entertaining and enlightening. The only gripe I had was the high pressure sales in some of the onboard shops - especially the Effy jewellery - they would not leave you alone to look without pressure to try this and that. Sometimes it is nice to look and not buy all the time. Most nights there was a leaflet left in your mail box talking about more sales! There was a good selection of items in the other shops case you forgot to pack something and the Vines store had everything you may have forgotten - from bug spray to indigestion tablets! The internet and library were both busy but we never had to wait, and the internet package we purchased was reasonable considering we were in the middle of the Pacific Ocean! The passengers were on average over 60 on this cruise but there were a few younger families and about half a dozen kids - honestly, we did not even notice that they were there. We would ask that the PR staff take a look at the ages of the people travelling and plan accordingly - we are not into rap and teen music! We would definitely sail again on a Princess cruise ship, including the Golden Princess, should the opportunity arise. Thank you for a great memory. Read Less

I couldn't find any fault with this cruise. I overnighted at the Mercure Hotel in Auckland and boarded the Emerald Princess the following morning. There were no problems and I loved my outside stateroom on deck 5, near the art gallery - a perfect position for all activities. The cabin was as expected, with great mattress/pillows giving me a good night's sleep. However, I wish they'd replace the shower curtain with a screen. We were blessed with perfect weather with the exception of seas turning nasty in the afternoon at Gisborne (didn't think much of this port) which delayed the tender operation and made for a scary return journey. I went on a private tour in Gisborne with Gisborne Tours and I wouldn't recommend them - very unprofessional and over-priced at $120. No information or commentary was provided. However, my private tour with Relaxed Tours in Dunedin was fantastic. Everyone enjoyed it. Seven hours with a knowledgeable driver and tour guide for just $70 - a bargain. I booked the Sanctuary for the scenic cruising and it didn't disappoint. Milford Sound is spectacular. The meals remain a highlight on Princess cruises (much better than P&O and a little better than Royal Caribbean). Anytime Dining operated without a hic-cup and I rarely had more than a few minutes' wait for a table. Theatre entertainment could have been better although the Scottish pianist in the Crooners Bar was hilarious - his jokes had the passengers crying with laughter. The singers/dancers remain fantastic, and the cruise director was one of the better ones. All in all a fantastic cruise and I'm looking forward to my next time with Princess. Read Less

Going to New Zealand and Australia was a big "bucket list" thing. The Princess cruise/land tour was awesome. We booked an inside cabin since we had mostly port days and spent the day at the Sanctuary during the Fiordland cruising. It more than met our expectations. We used Princess excursions because we have found that they have already screened their vendors for the most reliable and knowledgable guides. We once used a van off the pier on a stop on a Panama cruise and the tour guide did not provide any admittance to venues and after fact checking some of the information I found he made things up as he went along. My time is to precious for me to waste so I won't short change myself again and waste my precious time to save a few dollars. The excursions from the ship are now memories I cherish. The land tour in Australia, The Ultimate Outback, had us being cared for as VIPs. We came home knowing we had the best experience possible for the time we had there. The representative/tour guide managed everything for us at every stop. Our rooms were high quality and the meals that were included were wonderful. I came home knowing so much about the Ausie and Aborigine cultures. It was also fun staying at The Four Seasons in Sydney, because I never book five stars. We were able to get extra time through Princess at their rate. Since it is a lot of effort to get from the USA to that part of the world this cruise is a way to make the most of your time and experience the unique part of the world down under. If you have time for the land tour it will be icing on the cake. Read Less

We finally made it to New Zealand! This was on our bucket list for a very long time. We had sailed the Diamond one year ago to Asia/Japan and love the ship and found it to be in very good shape, we did not see worn out or torn furniture and it was very clean and tidy. We love the little Asian design touches around the ship. We have sailed this class of ship before on Princess and like how familiar it was. We can always find a cozy place to sit where we are out of the main throng of passengers. Skywalkers was our go to place to read or work on our photos with our laptop. We love the aft of the ship for quiet places to be. Mornings and evenings for sunrise and sunset up on the decks were lovely. We ate at the Lido and Trident Grill for all of our meals and would take our plates outside to sit where it was quiet and watch the wake of the ship. We found the food to be consistently hot and there were many choices including international dishes and theme nights for England, Brazil, Mexico, Greece and Asia. There is always enough food for any type of dietary needs you might have. The cookies are delicious and we would take a some wrapped in a napkin back to our cabin for later. I thought it was very smart of Princess to remove the items from the mini refrigerator in the cabin so it makes room for whatever you want to put there. We used the spa for a package including the hot tile loungers, saunas and Jacuzzi every day and will do so again on future cruises. We have experienced Suite, Mini Suite and Balcony and this is the second time we have had an Inside Cabin. It will take a lot for us to book a balcony in the future because we really like the inside. I shut the door and it is dark and quiet! We always choose our cabin near the aft so it is quick and easy to access the decks. We used the laundry room on off times for others....like at 7 am when everyone else is asleep. Having cruised 10 times we know what we like and don't like. We read the Patter to see where everyone is going to be and we go the opposite direction. Sometimes it feels like we are the only ones on the ship! We do book FCC (Future Cruise Credit) for each of us when we are on the ship. If you are planning on another cruise it is a great value. Pay $100 per person and you can book a cruise within 2 years and you get that money back in OBC (On Board Credit) It is a Win Win! We used the coffee card for specialty coffees and were happy with the taste and choices. The only ship excursion we took was to Hobbiton and we loved it. Normally we book our own privately. Service from the crew was as always good. As hard as they work and still have a hello or smile while doing their very best is amazing. I have one more thing to add. Due to severe weather we were not able to call at Dunedin and also missed Fiordlands National Park. The Captain was looking out for the passengers and was professional and timely in his announcements and information about the changes. We heard people complaining but in my opinion ..........they don't know what goes into mastering a ship. Princess was more than generous with a 25% off of a future cruise from the cost of the one we were on. It was weather related and per the contract, they don't have to compensate passengers anything. That was customer service! Thank you Princess! Our next cruise is in a year..........to The Mediterranean ! Read Less

We have cruised on this particular ship on 3 previous occasions and love it. The Golden Princess is a large ship and has everything you could possibly want. We had a mini suite and this is the first time our cabin was forward. Everything about the Golden is great. We enjoyed our meals in the Donatella dining room, the staff were fabulous as was the food. We went to the International Café on deck 5 everyday to enjoy the coffee and treats, which they had a great variety of. There was plenty of great activities on board, you could do as much or as little as you wanted and the entertainment was very good. We went to bingo most days and loved the trivia sessions. Also enjoyed some of the activities held around the pool area. The food in the Horizons for breakfast was great, whether you wanted continental or cooked. Disembarkation was extremely smooth and on schedule. Overall, we can't speak highly enough of this particular ship and of Princess in general. Staff were friendly, professional and helpful. Can't wait for our next cruise Read Less

This was the first half of 2 back-to-back cruises on Golden Princess. The embarkation process in Auckland was very quick (although there were only about 100 passengers joining). Our cabin on Deck 6 was "Partially Obstructed View" but there was a good view of the sea through some steel framework for the life-rafts. The cabin was generally good, although the bathrooms are a bit tired, and the showers about as small as you could imagine (with clingy plastic shower curtains that were a bit short and kept depositing water outside if knocked). The food was as good as I've had on 20+ cruises with excellent variety and choice. I don't recall one disappointing dish on the cruise. The entertainment was OK, although the 'rock' band were a bit mixed depending on what they were playing. The only problem we had was getting clarity from Customer Relations on the process when we were continuing on the following cruise, but this was tempered by the fact that they had upgraded us to a balcony cabin four decks up! I am a 23 year old male, single and a full time student. Decided to treat myself to a little holiday, and started to research cruising. I took the plunge and booked myself on the Golden, for a short row over the Tasman from Auckland to Melbourne. To be completely honest with you, after experiencing a cruise - I will never go back to land based holiday's. Embarkation in Auckland was fantastic and smooth. I arrived at 11.00, dumped my luggage and proceeded to the passenger area. Filled all my forms in, and sat there with my heart pounding for the next 20 odd minutes, until we were given the all clear to start boarding. The process was smooth and easy, and I was on board, in my cabin by 12. It certainly was overwhelming, travelling on such a big ship as my first cruise. It seemed to take forever to walk from one end to the other down the "never ending corridors" but I didn't mind the long walk - gave you chance to burn off the 15 times you'd eaten during the day. The ship was presented beautifully. I especially fell in love with the Piazza, having my morning coffee at the International Cafe. The Piazza was also host to a lot of social gatherings, and certainly had a lot of fun here. The food I thought was fantastic. I only ate in the MDR on one night, and unfortunately missed out on booking at table at the Crown Grill, so ended up eating in The Horizon Court buffet for the rest of my dinners. I found the food in the buffet to be fantastic - everything was cooked perfectly and seasoned to perfection. I also thought the redesigned layout helped the flow of passengers and having only one entry and one exit kept everyone in an orderly fashion. I also particularly liked Prego's Pizza - traditional American style pizza which was delicious. The Trident Grill, was, OK. The entertainment was, again, fantastic. I enjoyed Pearson & Harvey, who were a comedy duo from Australia. Combining a range of performances from song, to instrumental and of course comedy - contributed to a brilliant show. They performed twice, each time with different material. I also thoroughly enjoyed the International Crew Talent Performance on the last night ... definitely a must see! Unfortunately I didn't get chance to see the production show Motor City. The staff throughout the ship were amazing. Ever so polite, attentive and ready to help you with whatever you needed. My cabin steward, Dindo, was my knight in shining armour during my cruise. I was also impressed that it didn't take long at all for the bar staff to know what you drink! Cruise Director Neil and Assistant Cruise Director Corey ensured we all had a great time. My only gripe is the fact that you get penalized when you travel solo. Having to pay double is ridiculous and quite frankly a rip off, however I am not going to let that discourage my from my next cruise! Overall, a brilliant and fantastic holiday for me. I was so sad when I disembarked, and am thinking about my next cruise while I write this review. Read Less

My husband and I are both first time cruisers so were not sure what to expect. We got on in Auckland, we live there so just got dropped off, embarkation was so smooth, we were on the ship in half an hour and our bags delivered within the hour. We had an interior room in the middle of the ship. Perfect, no rocking. Ours was slightly bigger as we had the wardrobes at the end of the room. Bed made with fresh sheets every day, turned down at night, towels changed 2x day. Service from all the staff was amazing, so polite. One waiter we had was a bit grumpy, think he needed to move on and get off the ship. Photos - if there is a package deal take advantage of it, - we did and ended up with amazing photos, formal and casual. We did anytime dining so got to meet new people every meal. Once we had dinner in the main dining room when it was our anniversary, we got a cake and they sang happy anniversary to us. Excursions, we did our own thing except my husband did the weta workshop tour thru the ship in Wellington. In Dunedin we did do the Larnoch Castle tour which also included a hop on hop off ride around the city. That we went to the information site and booked. Entertainment, we went to a variety. Check your daily patter and highlight what you would like to do or you will miss out on things, We went to the Crown Grill and Crab Shack - both which you pay extra for $25pp and these restaurants are well worth the money. Disemarkation day - again so quick and simple. Read Less
