We arrived in Auckland a couple of days prior to the cruise. Caught the airport bus into town which dropped us off about a block from the Crowne Plaza, which was a 10 minute walk from the pier. We spent the two days recovering from the flight, touring around Auckland and eating some good fish and chips and mussels.
Boarded the ship around 2 o'clock without a problem. We chose the 6 ...
Our family enjoys cruising on Princess, this was our fourth voyage and it took us to a part of the world we'd never seen: New Zealand and Australia.
There were six of us on this trip, no kids. The service, particularly in the Lido deck, was among the best we've ever had. The room was kept clean and tidy, the steward was quick to respond to every request.
Embarkation and ...
This was our sixth cruise with Princess, and the experience was as usual: very good, but not quite excellent. I'll comment on the things that struck me as perhaps useful to others.
Embarcation and departure were a snap, aided by our platinum status. We had stayed at The Sebel in Auckland (recommended -- an easy walk to the pier if your suitcases have wheels).
We were in C103 (Caribe ...
Pre cruise There is an Airport Shuttle from the Airport to Downtown Auckland for $14 one way. Pickup is outside Door Nine in the International Terminal and you pay the driver directly. The bus was a typical city-type bus and the driver announced which hotels were served at each stop.
Pre-Cruise Hotel was Crowne Plaza CBD which is a nice hotel- about what you would expect from a Crowne Plaza ...
After 17 cruises this was our first cruise on Princess. Overall an impressive line and ship. The outside cabin we elected was spacious with an unusual twist of a large open closet across from the bathroom and parallel to the cabin door instead of being located just instead the cabin behind the open door. It made for easier access and larger space. The food was on par with most other cruise ...
This was our first cruise with Princess and we loved it. We arrived a night before the cruise and stayed at Waldorf Celestion Apartments Hotel which was booked on Hotels.com for about $100 per night. From this hotel we walked to Sky City, The Auckland Museum and to the ship. The day of embarkation we arrived at the ship after 2PM, as they recommend and had no waiting. The Diamond Princess was ...
In the email we received from Princess we were asked to arrive at the port after 2:00 p.m. We arrived shortly after that time by cab and were impressed with the service. The baggage handlers took the luggage out of the cab and by the time we checked in and arrived in our room, a 45 minute process, the bags were already there. The check-in was prompt and efficient.
We chose anytime dining ...
Check in and Embarkation: My nephew Shankar dropped us at the Auckland terminal around 10:30 AM. The passengers were still disembarking. We dropped our bags off at 11am and checked in as a Platinum member, we got on board by 11:30 AM. My wife and I went for lunch at Lido Deck. First impressions: We had an outside room on Emerald Deck (8) we went straight to our room. After we came back from lunch ...
My DW and myself came off the Auckland to Sydney cruise a few days ago on the Saturday 16th January.
This was our third Princess cruise and I have to say that it lived up to our expectations in that it was an absolutely wonderful vacation experience.
This is not a detailed trip report but a series of observations.
The ship was in good condition with everything working fine although we did ...
We chose this cruise for three reasons: 1. It was during school holidays so the whole family was there (all four of us). 2. It visited NZ and Tasmania (which is what we wanted to see). 3. It was a twelve night voyage that spent Christmas AND new Year on board. Very exciting. This trip took place Dec 2008 and Jan 2009.
It was a pleasurable experience. The buffet was extensive with delicious food, ...
