We picked this cruise for the land portion of the trip Off the Beaten Path.
one thing I would like to say pack light and wash your clothes. only a few dress for dinner and no one cares be comfortable.
Make sure you bring Mucinex, cough syrup and cough drops you have no ideal the people looking for that stuff and couldn't get it.
The lodges were very nice. Fairbanks had the Riverboat/ ...
We had sailed on 10+ high-mid-low end cruises, picked the Crown Princess 11 nights sailing to Alaska last minute sailing under my mom's request. This was our 3rd time doing the Alaska itinerary, but my mom wanted something longer than 7 days, return Vancouver and we were familiar with Princess standard from the Japan and New England East Coast itinerary a few years back.
Embarkation was a ...
This was a 10 day out of Vancouver, and the price was excellent. Two stops we had not seen before so this was another reason for this specific cruise. Vancouver is a little hard to get into and out of. You most likely will spend a night even if you live close. The cruise port is easy to find and there is even the Public transit that stops right there. Boarding the ship is confusing, ask for help, ...
This was our 8th cruise and 2nd time to Alaska (first was on Holland America), first time on Princess. We always heard that Princess does Alaska right and they sure did. We were very fortunate to have excellent weather through out the cruise, so that definitely helped.
1. Food - 3.5 stars (main dining was good, but several times the meat was undercooked and the Indian food was very mediocre, ...
This was our first cruise to Alaska and our first time on the Discovery Princess. We stayed in a Penthouse suite across from the Concierge Lounge. Ports included Seattle, Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, and Victoria.
Pros:
- Penthouse suite was spacious and location was convenient to aft elevators and Concierge Lounge. Our stateroom stward was friendly and effecient. The Concierge host was ...
this was a double first for both of us, first time on princess and first alaska cruise. it was our 22nd cruise so stranger to that, but had never done princess because they were always a bit more money and the clientele older. we're early 50s now and absolute steal came along for this cruise, so we jumped on it. the reason we'd not done alaska before is cost. it's always been expensive and the ...
This was our first time on Princess and it was very good. Loved that you could take care of so much pre cruise checkin/reservations/excursions on their app. Love the medallion, it worked great. Once to the pier, checkin was a breeze, maybe 15 min. The ship is absolutely beautiful, very clean everywhere. Our cabin was ready when we boarded. Our cabin was deck 17 with balcony. Amazing ...
We decided to return to Alaska and have been on the Ruby princess before. From the Captain to Stewards everyone was spectacular. We were celebrating a birthday, an anniversary, and Father's day. Cannot say enough good things about the staff. The food on this ship was better than other ships in the same fleet. With exception of the dessert specialty or otherwise - all the desserts we tried were ...
We had a minisuite and an obstructed view cabin on the Emerald deck. My cabin review below will be for the minisuite.
Notes:
- We had five total people on the cruise. Two kiddos (8 and 3), two parents (30s) and one grandmother (70s).
- This was the second cruise for the parents. We did an Alaskan cruise 10 years ago and this time brought the grandma and the kiddos. So clearly we aren't ...
We departed from Vancouver, and checked in at the cruise terminal which was confusing and exhausting. The staff at the terminal seemed to lack sufficient knowledge to direct passengers to the ship.
Weather was chilly and drizzly out of Vancouver and into Juneau. After Juneau, it got sunny and warm for the rest of the 10 days!
We wanted to see a new port called Icy Strait Point and hoped ...
