We had planned this trip precovid. We're a family of 4 adults, flying from two different US cities to meet in Honolulu. Came in two days early, stayed at the Park Shore Waikiki, relatively reasonably priced ocean view balcony rooms, across the street from the beach and the Honolulu Zoo, at the less congested end of Waikiki by Diamond Head.
On the day before departure we toured Pearl Harbor ...
I cruised NCL Pride of America in Hawaii from June 18-25, 2022 after spending five days on Oahu. After reading reviews about the cruise especially since it resumed in April 2022, I was prepared for the reduced number of dining options, reduced bar hours, reduced number of staff, etc. There was only about 40% passenger capacity which made the time we spent on the boat excellent and better than ...
We just got back from our June 25th cruise and here are our observations. Hopefully, some of these tips will help some of you planning your cruises. We traveled with 2 adults and one teen. It was very strange when we arrived to check in that there was nobody there. You definitely could tell this cruise was sailing with a low capacity. Highlights were the hardworking staff and the lack of crowds. ...
If you want a floating hotel around the Hawaiian islands, Pride of America is great. If you are looking for an amazing ship and cruising experience, look elsewhere. My family has been on many cruises over the years, but this is the first one we picked for the destination. For reasons I don’t quite understand, it was cheaper for us to get a family suite than it was for any two other rooms on the ...
This review is about our return to cruising and our experience on this 4th cruise week since the Covid shutdown 2 years ago. We cruised Norwegian 2/20 just before shutdown, so having returned this morning 5/7/22 from Norwegian's Pride of America (Hawaiian) cruise and cruisetour. Here's what we experienced and we will refer to this post-Covid experience onboard and not life about the ship itself. ...
In my opinion there is no better way to see 4 Hawaiian islands than by taking the Pride of America. This cruise was the 4th sailing of this cruise since NCL started up again. Overall we thought every part of the cruise was very good. Check in was all of 10 minutes and we were on board. We were very pleased to get a balcony upgrade - this was our first hint that the cruise was sailing at less than ...
This was the second Hawaiian cruise after the pandemic shut down and there are some growing pains. The ship was at 40% capacity, about 1100 passengers, and only 40% staff. Only one MDR was open for dinner only. Buffet of course. Cadillac diner for 24/7 snacks, which my family didn't really think was that great. And only Cagney's and Jefferson's Bistro were available for specialty dining. Because ...
We booked a Hawaiian cruise on NCL’s Pride of America for 2020. Because of the pandemic, it had to be rebooked for 2021, and then rebooked for 2022. Each time we rebooked we used credits from the previous year, but then had to pay additional monies because of prices going up. We finally got to cruise in 2022 on their first voyage in 2 years and the cruise was wonderful with only 40% capacity on ...
Seven of us traveled aboard the Pride of America in March. Please note, we were the last cruise allowed before the 'Rona shut the world down, so keep that in mind, as for precautions were taken and new procedures were added hourly throughout the week.
We were lucky enough to book an obstructed view suite (Cabin 7094). Staying in a suite has some added benefits, like express check in at the ...
We did this cruise 6 years ago and really enjoyed the islands tour. Our favorite islands when all was said and done are Maui and Kauai.
Ship is smaller and being American flagged means the crew gets decent pay and US work rules which translates to high morale. Recommend 2 days minimum in Oahu on front end to adjust time zones and relax a bit. You don't have to stay on the crowded Waikki ...
