We enjoyed this cruise so much and will be back soon! We chose this cruise for the accessiblility and because it gave us the opportunity to see all the major islands of hawai'i. Our experience was special right from the start. The crew was very accomodating and fun. We felt very welcomed especially by our stewardess and all staff onboard. We really enjoyed the bands that played especially "The Drivers" The night shows were great and the food was excellent! As far as any constuctive criticism all we can say was that it could have been easier to stay at one port in big island instead of going to both kona and Hilo. I also wrote in the room review that the shower area could have used a little bit sprucing up. I also wanted to give a lot of recognition to our stewardess who did such a great job keeping our room nice and clean. Keep up the good work! Ps washy washy Maria was fun keeping us clean between meals :) Read Less

The food in the Skyline was amazing and the Diner was fun to experience. all the staff I interacted with were very friendly and polite. My cabin was spacious and I loved having the balcony to go out on when I was in my room. The Vegas show was great. the entertainment director was everywhere and very good at her job, i loved the Not so newlywed game show night. i enjoyed all the ports and the excursions, however would have enjoyed more cultural options on land. the ports were beautiful and the guides that showed us around were knowledgeable. i would defiantly do this cruise again as well as cruise with Norwegian again. i traveled with my adult family there were no children in my group. embarkation from the boat was simple and easy. This was an excellent way to see most of Hawaii, without having to pack up and change locations. We considered it a floating hotel. Our room attendant was amazing. Always smiling, happy and very kind. She kept our room immaculate, tidying up twice a day. The staff we encountered were all friendly and easy to engage in conversation. Anyone I asked for directions or assistance was more than happy to help. Probably, our only complaints had to do with the food. It is not that there weren't more than enough choices to make as far as venues are concerned, it's that (especially in the Aloha Cafe), the food was slightly warm to lukewarm much of the time. If it had any warmth when self plating it, by the time we got to the table, it didn't have much appeal. The Skyline had nice choices, but the first time we tried it, again, the food was lukewarm. We didn't experience the Entertainment options on this cruise, so can't comment on that. We found the 13th deck to be a perfect little hideaway spot with a small dipping pool and whirlpool. It's the area where smoking is allowed, and it does have an outside bar. Not many people use that as their pool area, so it's not overcrowded and noisy. We went on three NCL reserved excursions, the Maui Plantation; Hawaii Volcanoes National Park; Kauai Director's Cut. All good choices and we enjoyed all three. I would recommend this cruise for anyone who would like to see the most the Hawaiian Islands have to offer in a convenient way. Read Less

Took the cruise to celebrate 40th Anniversary. Have been on other cruise lines with much better food in the dining rooms and specialty restaurants. Cadillac Diner had the best Overall quality of food out of all the dining options. We had a great time, yet quite disappointed on our anniversary dinner that we had scheduled at a specialty restaurant....we brought the card ...as we were told to...that was in our cabin to let them know it was our anniversary...woman ripped off the bottom...gave back the rest and said I’ll take it.....never even got a “happy anniversary “ from her...who I guess is like maitre d....or anyone.... let alone anything else....was very disappointed Comedy show...saw him three times...was very funny. Magician was very good. Pianist was very good....saw him several times. Some of the other entertainment not so great. Excursions we went on were great. Met some great people. Our cabin steward was very good and friendly. Read Less

NCL offered a very appealing itinerary with two overnight stops which allowed us to explore the islands on our own. We thoroughly enjoyed our Deluxe Owner's Suite with hot tub, it was beautiful and spacious and our butler Roland was helpful and friendly. The ship was easy to navigate and had everything we needed. Embarkation and disembarkation was an easy process, we had personal attention and service and felt very spoiled! Dining was okay, the specialty dining was nice, the buffet was mediocre but we were always able to find what we wanted. We enjoyed the complimentary room service and our butler also arranged a nice afternoon snack for our final day of cruising so the rest of our party could join us in our suite. We booked a couple shore excursions which were fine and explored on our own via rental car in the overnight ports. All in all a very pleasurable cruise. We have been on probably a dozen cruises with many cruise lines and found NCL to be a nice, affordable choice. If you've been to Hawaii before, or never been, this is a nice way to see more than one island. Read Less

Having never traveled to Hawaii, we thought this would be a good way to check out multiple islands and learn a bit about each one. The POA was a great experience all the way around! The staff from our airport arrival to our return trip home were available, helpful and knowledgeable!! We were especially appreciative of the deck staff during tendering. Their care and consideration of passenger safety was top notch. The entertainment was fun and energetic! The dining staff were attentive and friendly. The food was excellent and abundant !! What more could you ask for!! On our final day we disembarked and took a NCL tour of the City of Honolulu, the USS Missouri and the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor. Our Guide, Garfield, was fantastic!! He made the visit more meaningful. This was an incredible trip/vacation for us full of beautiful scenery and happy memories! Thanks to all!! Read Less

As many other reviews state...”a easier way to visit multiple Hawaiian islands” was the draw for this cruise. Having cruised with multiple lines & reading various reviews about Pride of America we knew not to expect perfection. We Added the 3 day hotel/land excursions to our trip prior to boarding the ship. It help us adjust with our jet lag. Our balcony cabin (8134) was dated/average & room for 2. (Our female steward was the best we have ever experienced in our years of cruising). The buffet dining was adequate & the up-charged restaurants were a disappointment ( we tried 3 different ones) due to poor servers. One night we watched our food delivered to the servers wait station while our server & 3 others stood together laughing/talking/. After 10 minutes I walked up to the group & pointed out our food & that our request for additional drink orders had still not been filled 25 minutes later. There was no apology just a cool attitude from our server from then forward. There was a sad agreement, among our group, about the work ethic we observed of the American staff...at times we were embarrassed as the numerous foreign passengers we talked with commented on it. Shore excursions make for long days & were adequate. Our group wished we could have had one sea day to allow us to recharge our energy levels. Enjoy your trip, know there will be some disappointments with on board expectations not met...prepare yourself for the up’s and down’s while enjoying new environment beauty. Read Less

We did not want to be at sea for 14 days so we elected to fly to Hawaii and board the ship there. NCL was the ship plus several people did tell us they traveled on Norwegian, however, not the Hawaiian ship, and everything was great. The food was horrible and the service was substandard. While having breakfast in the Skyliner, I asked for a refill on coffee and the young lady just plopped a coffee pot on the table and walked off. The cup was empty and I thought she would at least fill it up. I will NEVER use Norwegian again. Plus there was a terrible smell in our room and in the hall ways and by the chapel and card room. It smelled almost like sewer water. Several people commented about the smell. Twice we were chased out of the card room for them to use for something else. We left and had to play cards in the chapel. The second time a notice was put by the card room that there was going to be an art class in the card room. That art class never materialized. They held up the room for hours for nothing. Not good. We had just come off of a Princess cruise to Alaska about 6 weeks before and the food and service was EXCELLENT-- like night and day. Shame on Norwegian. We paid so much money for this cruise and it was just a big disappointment. Read Less

This definitely ticked off our bucket list. My sister and I cruised with our parents and 2 aunts, so a total of 6 of us. We are in our early 40s and they are 71, 72, 75 and 80 just to give you some perspective. This is our 6th cruise, all but 1 with NCL. That said, NCL and the POA were a bit disappointing. We decided to book the 11 day land and sea. Our thought was with everything organized it would be pretty seamless. Would not recommend doing that if you want flexibility. The lack of communication was unreal and the hotel was confused. You are booked morning (think 7am) till almost 5pm every night! Add a long travel day and we were exhausted before the cruise started. You are on a tour bus for 3 solid days. We arrived on Wed. Night after dark and were greeted then taken to get our luggage, there was some confusion with transportation but the staff worked thru that quickly. Upon arrival at the hotel we learned the NCL had not communicated a room change and that seemed to throw them completely off. They took care of us but honestly the lack of an NCL staff member was noticed and likely could have eliminated this. Because of the room mix up 1 party was missing vital information about the 3 days on land. The hotel could have cared less, but luckily we communicated. Thursday was our day 1 and we went to the Polynesian Cultural Center. This included a stop at Dole which was a WASTE OF TIME. The PCC was great and you could spend more than a day there. It would have been nice to have more flexibility to do that. Day 2 was Pearl Harbor. NOT ENOUGH TIME. Day 3 we had to checked out by 700am to get on the bus with all your luggage for the ship packed. Then a day at a ranch, which is a movie site. I would have rathered some beach time but no way to get to the ship if you skip out. Again NCL could easily offer some flexibility options. Long bus ride again then at the pier for check in. Due to the late arrival this part was actually seamless. We arrived at our rooms and luggage was there which was great. Downside was that there was no time to get to tour the ship before safety drill and leaving. The room in one word- SMALL!!!!!! I don't expect tons of space but this was crazy. You had to walk sideways thru the stateroom. We were in a balcony room. Storage wasn't horrible. NCL could take out already 1 stateroom on each sided and gain some breathing room. Everything was dated, that said I believe this ship is going into dry dock in March 2020 so there is hope. For such tight cruise location(distance between islands) we cruised fast and it was SUPER BUMPY. Sometimes walking was difficult. Night 1 we went to the opening show, same as on other ships they overview all the performers. Not bad but the cruise director was very distracting, she needed foundation garments!!!!!! This was the theme all week. It's a shame because a female cruise director is not common and she could have made a better impression, she just looked sloppy. Day 2 and 3 were in Maui, beautiful!!!! Day 4 was Hilo, Day 5 Kona, Day 6 and 7 Kauai. The locations were great but if you are good with a map and driving, RENT A CAR . The NCL excursion are overpriced and make stops that are not needed. I would have preferred more time at the actual locations and fewer stops at convenience stores. Specialty dining is stupid and we could never get it. The main dining was NEVER full. NCL needs to look at the way they do dining. They also took pictures almost every night and blocked the main stairs. Very few people took pictures and with old slooooow elevators closing these stairs was a pain. Elevators were confusing when going to shore and slow. Disembarking was fine other than my bag getting taken by someone else. The dock staff was great and got it back, NCL staff could have cared less. NCL seems to have gotten very relaxed with staff and it appears that they could use some better training. Those staff that had been on the ship awhile took pride and did good work, newer staff seem need more training. Read Less

The trip and Hawaii cruise by NCL allowed us to fulfill a wish from 5 years back. We were looking at this as a cheaper means to tour Hawaiian islands. To an extent we succeeded in that goal. Cruise itself was fairly well managed but definitely not excellent. Food served on the Pride of America ship is not catered towards vegetarians and therefore for us was so so. Some excursions were good while others were over-hyped. In general we felt that the excursions were definitely overpriced. After paying through our noses the first few times, we decided to venture out on our own towards the end. This helped us to give another level of experience by driving ourselves to the places we had interest in. Entertainment within the ship was either not well timed or not well published. If we were able to attend a few in-house shows, that may have given us a more balanced experience. On this score, the in-house events were better planned on our earlier cruise by another shipping company. One thing did surprise me - the travelers were mostly older people, not many kids or younger adults. I am sure that NCL can make some improvements to give us all a better bang for our dollars. One event to add would be a formal group dinner. Read Less

Very laid back and no rowdiness aboard the ship. We felt the entire staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Our cabin steward was always quiet, and always had our room clean and tidy. We commend her for her extreme kindness and good job. We really enjoyed our time aboard the NCL/Pride of America. This was not the most luxury cruise like we have taken before, but was a very enjoyable cruise. The food was good, and as always plenty to choose from. The staff makes you feel at home on the ship and no matter what their job was they all seemed to smile and accommodate our needs. We were on the Pride of America, with its island hopping Hawaii itinerary. The service was wonderful throughout. We loved the suite, and the restaurants were excellent. Our concierge, Thomas, was wonderful and a huge help with great suggestions to improve our experience. We had breakfast everyday at Cagney's Steakhouse and that was a great start (and Allison was terrific). I loved the Lanai bar but wished it was open later; it's the best spot on the ship and I don't understand why it isn't better utilized. The Pink champagne bar was nice, with some great casual entertainment. Great selection of excursions, too, with options for guided tours, cultural and historical explorations, natural beauty and adventure - something for everyone and a varied experience for all who want it. Having a suite with it's priority features made for a vastly improved experience over what looked like a crowded and line-heavy approach involved in the standard cabins. It was a wonderful experience and I would heartily recommend NCL. Read Less

The cabin had a lot of storage, but not much else. The bathroom was simply substandard. The bed lamps are in a horrible location, preventing you from sitting up in bed. The food was adequate. The ship had the worst "roll" of any ship I have been on, and in good weather! I got tired of staggering down the hall like a drunken sailor. Crew was excellent, and this review in no way reflects on them! My second cruise on Norwegian, probably my last. Except for the comedian, entertainment was mediocre. Ok, let me begin by saying that getting on the ship was very easy. No real wait time, but then you had to wait for your cabin to be cleaned and ready for you. They let one group of travelers off and then have a new set coming right away, so they really can’t check everything (which I learned). Then you have to wait a long time to get your luggage because there are only a few (2) people handing out your luggage (at least on my floor). Guest services never really has a line and the ladies who work there are very friendly/helpful. Now my issues, the toilet in my room did not work for 12 hours on my first evening. Informed guest services and was told that they would put a work order in. Can you imagine having to use the bathroom on another floor in the middle of the night because they would not fix your bathroom that day. Again on the first day they broke my luggage zipper and I was told by guest services to empty my luggage out and to bring it down to guest services ( I would have thought that they could send someone up to my cabin but no I just boarded the ship and I am rolling my luggage down to guest services, people thought I was leaving). The food was ok at the buffet but don’t expect too much ( I asked for coffee my first morning and learned not to ask for anything, if they don’t ask you just get up and look for it yourself). The entertainment is just ok you are not missing anything ( the travelers make it enjoyable). When you go on this cruise it is all about seeing Hawaii. Thank goodness I had a shore excursion five of the seven days that I was on this cruise. The cabin and the balcony was small, the man (Michael) who was in charge of cleaning my cabin was very nice. I went on this cruise planning on doing another cruise with Norwegian but after my experiences I was really afraid to try another cruise with them but people said that this is an old ship so I am going to try the new ship going to Bermuda (from NYC). If there was another cruise ship in Hawaii I would do that but I really could not say anything nice other than it was Hawaii. Oh do the specialty dining (great service there, do the steakhouse at least twice). Read Less

We had spoke with several people who had traveled to Hawaii prior to our planning this trip.We then contacted our Travel Agent, which we have used on all our cruises, and she arranged for the 11-Day O'ahu Explorer tour. What a wonderful trip. We spent three days at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort. From there we toured Dole Plantation /Polynesian Cultural Center/ Pearl Harbor/ Kualoa Ranch and other sites. On the forth day we embarked which went very well. We enjoyed the next 7 days aboard the Pride of America, great ship. The staff through out the ship was excellent. Our stateroom service was exceptional, best we ever had. Dining was very good, nice selection of food. Entertainment was great every night, even the last night late show had to be canceled due to a accident in the early show, you still came thru with a show ( Michael Masci Piano Salute to Elton John and Billy Joel ) great show .Overall service was excellent. Shore excursions were very good of those we did. If there was anything negative I would say the cost. Great trip. Read Less

The only ship that you can fly to to cruise around the Hawaiian Islands. The workers on the ship were very unfriendly and never seemed to smile due to being overworked long hours a day. The dining room food was horrible and there was nothing personal about the workers bringing you food. There was a roach crawling down the buffet room wall. They did not have late night food. The entertainment and activities left a lot to be desired. Nothing to do except go to a bar or go to the piano bar. The piano bar was alright. The 13th floor smoking bar was the best place to go even though a lot of people did not even smoke that went up there. The bartenders Kyle and Josh were the best things about the ship. They made it fun and made great drinks. Had it not been for the two of them it would have been terrible. The cabins were small but bearable. The ceiling throughout the ship were very low which made you feel suffocated. I had to get my commode fixed two times because it would not flush. No one seemed to helpful when you needed something. The ports and shore excursions were great. Nothing wrong with that. All in all I would not ever sail on this ship again. Read Less

Embarcation: our booking said our check in time was 1200 but in actual fact, check-in was FROM 1200 so we wasted much of our day in Honolulu (having arrived the day before) and wished we had checked in by 5pm. We checked in and then got off the ship again to walk up Diamond head and arrived back at 4:30pm but realised later, we need not have checked in so early. Cabin: we had the cheapest cabin on the ship so I was expecting a tight squeeze, we lost an upgrade 'bid' so didn't think about it too much, however we were pleasantly surprised by how much space and storage it had for two ladies. We weren't disappointed. Dining: The food in the restaurants was impeccable. So glad we didn't have the enormous American style portions and the food and presentation was excellent quality. We didn't have the specialty dinner package but we didn't need to. We ate in the Asian restaurant a couple of times and we felt that was like having a specialty dinner package. You really don't need to go extra on the restaurant upgrade. I liked having lunch from the buffet and taking it to a table outside with a cocktail at the back of the ship. That was nice. My only complaint was that the American diner looked very cheap and cold. We didn't eat in there but I imagine it would have been good for kids. It could have been furbished to look warmer than a burger king. Entertainment: My friend and I were celebrating our 50th and were up for a fun, good time but the ship got fairly quiet by midnight and we found ourselves going from lounge to lounge looking for a bit of action. The ship had a lot of older people who seemed to get up at Dawn and go to bed early ready for the next dawn. The shows were average except for the Jazz band. They were great. Comedian was rubbish, but then I"m not American, so slap stick jokes aren't our thing. The disco on some nights could have been much better. A couple of nights the DJ was there and that was good, but for some nights the music was just a tape and that was disappointing. Having said that, we liked the fact that there was lots of options and if Karaoke, bingo and quiz was your thing, there was plenty to do. Although I felt our demographic was in the minority, it was so easy to hang out and meet people. Everyone we came across was very friendly and chatting to strangers was so easy. I did not feel at all uncomfortable to go out on my own and sit at a bar or table or chat to someone nearby. It was thoroughly relaxing and I loved the fact that it was a do what you want, when you want, how you want type of cruise. Service: impeccable 99% of the time. Everyone was courteous, the dining staff went over and above, our cabin was serviced twice a day, loved how they had beach towels for you when you got off the ship and offered a fresh cup of water when you arrived back. I'd say the ship was clean, well groomed and maintained and the bar staff were productive. I only would have complained once about one bar staff who tried to tell me I couldn't have a cocktail as the bar had just closed and he'd turned the ice machine off, but then when I asked him what cocktail I could have, he turned it on (pressed a button) and ta da, he made me the cocktail I originally asked for in less than a minute and the three staff were still working there. His attitude didn't impress me, but that was the once and only time. Other than that I was extremely impressed. Ports: We loved the itinerary and were out all day in the ports so we missed what was going on on the ship. We did two big excursions in Maui which were great but because these trips are so expensive, we decided to do our own thing in the other ports. The ship has the hopper on and off trolley's that take you from the ship to the town and other places of interest. We did those and got to see some great places. It is very easy to rent a car as a shuttle takes you from the ship to the airport to do just that. There are also plenty of taxis to get you around so you don't need to do an excursion if you don't care for that. My only complaint would be the port in Maui. We docked on the boring side, so if you are not doing an excursion, get yourself over to Kanapali beach side on the south. Kauwai is the most beautiful and most scenic, shop in Kona, not Hilo and snorkle in Kona but look for turtles in Hilo. If you make time in Honolulu, a big mistake we made is thinking we could turn up to Pearl harbour and get tickets for USS Arizona, but you have to buy tickets at least a day in advance. We got over there (an hour on the trolley) and couldn't go out on the boat to the Arizona unless we had pre-paid tickets. We walked up to the top of Diamond head in 25 minutes flat without stopping, but allow 45 minutes unless you are unfit. Tips: Pre pay gratuities. I hate tipping. unless you have a good reason not to, purchase the drinks package, especially if you are travelling with a friend. It saves a lot of "its your round, not mine". It certainly makes for a more relaxing cruise not worrying about paying for drinks. I would do this cruise with my children next time. I think they would love it. Overall it was fantastic and highly recommended but we did have to disembark early to catch our international flight from Honolulu so we missed the last trip around the coast. We were very sad to leave when we did. Read Less

This was our 20th anniversary and we have been planning on doing Hawaii all this time. When we found out about the Pride of America and it's ports we decided it would be the best and most economical ways of getting the most out of our vacation. We had a 10th deck balcony cabin and it was perfect. Our cabin steward was our Hero for the week. We almost always eat in the dining room when we are on a cruise and we did here most of the week. The food was good but the menu did not change much from night to night so there was not much of a variety in choices. The buffet was ok, I don't like buffets so that skews my review. We did notice some discontentment in the employees working the buffet and that reflected in the job they did. Outside of that all the other people were nice and professional giving top notch service. We loved all the shows that were done in the Hollywood theater. all the excursions we did were through NCL and we did not have any complaints about any of them. I have found that the excursion guides think that they need to talk a lot more than they do on any cruise. There was just the two of us and we are seniors who still work full time so we were looking for short duration so that there would still be time to relax and rest. I would travel with NCL again if the occasion arises, We enjoy cruising!. The only thing not enjoyable was the long flights but hey, its a long way to Hawaii! Read Less

This was the only cruise available that just toured around the islands. The food was OK but not much above average. We were told that there was no night that served lobster. If we wanted it, a specialty restaurant would have to be chosen. If we brought a bottle of wine onboard, we would be assessed a $15 corkage fee. Other cruises allow you to bring aboard one bottle per person. We took advantage of the Thermal Suite Package. This allowed us to use the sauna, steam rooms, and heated mosaic chairs in the meditation room. It was wonderful. I took advantage of the lei making classes. There were actually four of them and Kaulana was an excellent teacher. We had good service in the upscale dining area and Jonathan Alverce and Shalyric were spectacular. Also, Blake made some excellent wine advise and we also enjoyed interacting with him in the Liberty Dining Room. Their website is sorely lacking. I tried to order a Romance Package and it appeared that everything went through but when we got to the ship nothing had gone through. I also, noticed that we could have 24 ml of water delivered to our room for free, so I ordered that. I was then told that they no longer offered it. If this was the case, why was it still available to purchase. Dion Keita was so wonderful in helping us and felt bad that we didn't get what we ordered so she sent a bottle of wine to our room. It was very sweet of her to do that. Read Less

We were in Hawaii 36 years earlier and wanted to revisit. With NCL's "Free at Sea" offer, this was an exceptionally affordable and effective way to schedule our return without worrying about booking expensive hotels, meals and airfare. Our plan was to use the ship as our floating "home base" to re-visit our favorite spots and explore new locations. The cruise itself was awesome. From smooth check-in and embarkation, ease of finding areas of interest onboard due to well-marked signage, daily newsletters and always friendly and eager-to-assist crew members to well managed flow of passengers on/off the ship at all ports, the staff should be highly commended. The ports chosen were awesome as well. These are non-traditional ports that involve a walk through 'souvenirville' before you can leave the port area. All ports offered a more than ample variety of shore excursions to meet most everyone's needs. We like snorkeling and found the opportunity to snorkel on 3 different islands seeing a tremendous variety of fish, spinner dolphins sea turtles and even a moray eel. With our busy schedule, we didn't find time to participate in the many onboard activities or entertainment. As part of the free at Sea package, we enjoyed dining at Cagney's Steakhouse (steak/seafood), the Jefferson Bistro (French) and La Cucina (Italian) Specialty Dining Restaurants, all were exceptional. The other nights we ate in the Liberty and Skyline Main dining rooms. After disembarkation from the ship, we rented a car and spent the day touring Pearl Harbor, an absolute must before returning to the mainland. The ship offers this excursion with a return to the airport but we wanted the freedom to spend as much time as we wanted there. Discounted airfare to/from Honolulu was one of the factors to seal the deal. Read Less

Visited many of the Hawaiian islands and there was a variety of things to do on and off the ship. Balcony cabin was way too small for three people but would be fine for two. Ship clean and crew were all helpful and friendly. The food was good but nothing special. Cagney' Steak house was the best. Our waiter, Daniel , made our meal most enjoyable. He explained the items on the menu and made my 10 year old granddaughter feel more grown up. Plenty of entertainment available when on board ship but because we were up early to go on an excursion we did not have time to do much in the evening. Missed getting daily drink in a special keep sake glass and room steward did not make even one folded towel animal. Just two small disappointing things. Granddaughter thought her first cruise experience was super. Wish we had known about not being able to go through baggage at airport till four hours before flight. Early off boat had us sitting with our luggage for seven hours before we could check our bags and get some food. Read Less

I would not suggest this ship if you are under 75 and don’t have grey hair. I would not suggest this ship if you like your meals served hot and fresh or with taste. I’m assuming they are catering to the palates of those with health problems and low salt/sugar tolerance. I would not suggest this ship if you want a working toilet throughout your stay. I would not suggest this trip if you want a customer service agent to not ignore you if you want to add a credit card on your account and settle any charges. Now if you have any interest in all of the aforementioned experiences, then this cruise is the cruise for you! I did come across some very accommodating cruise staff and really enjoyed the photographer during our studio session, but the horrible experiences I’ve succumbed to in the dining establishments surpassed that experience. One waitress actually left us before we finished. She really was no where to be found until we saw her at east meets west that evening. The night activities were laughable. We walked away from many of them because of either boredom or disappointment. I think the deejay was actually a first generation iPod or maybe cassette player, not quite sure. It was my first with NCL and most definitely, without a doubt, my LAST NCL cruise. Read Less

We were celebrating our 25th anniversary and Hawaii has been on our bucket list. The ship was a perfect way to see all of the islands. Our trip was a breeze from the moment we got left off at the pier. We sailed through check in and were led to a separate area for a snack. The cat was out of the bag and I couldn’t hide the surprise from hubby. I had booked us in a penthouse suite with a butler After a short wait we were brought on board by Lauren. We then had lunch at Cagney’s, which is the breakfast and lunch spot for suite guests. Our deck was called while we were eating an amazing lunch. When we got to our rooms, our bags were outside our suite. Jeffery was our butler who brought us breakfast in our suite, helped us with tenders and priority disembarking. We spent most days ashore doing excursions, with only 2 lazy pool days. We enjoyed the specialty dining with Cagney's and Moderno being the favourites. Our other evening was Teppanyaki. Good ambiance but we found the food was prepared with too much butter and salt. We ate at Cadillac diner, Aloha cafe and Key West grill. We did excursions with NCL and Roberts Hawaii. Even though the scenery is breathtaking, the driver does make the tour worthwhile. We had great drivers and others that weren’t on their game. Our preferred tours were with Roberts. If you can take part in the Cruisenext program it is worthwhile to plan the next one, as the on-board credits pay for 1/2 of the deposit you put down. With the other on board credits accumulated, our next cruise deposits cost us nothing. Overall this was an amazing cruise. Despite bad reviews, we did not have any negative experiences. Read Less

My husband and I wanted to have a chance to see multiple islands to see which might be our favorites. We’d only been to Oahu previously. Embarkation and disembarking was very easy. We utilized NCL transfer transportation from/to the airport which was great. These were handled extremely well. Food was mediocre at best in the buffet. We ate at Cadillac diner, Skyline and specialty restaurants. The food was incredibly better in those locations. Beware if you have allergies be sure to share at each meal because the wait staff doesn’t always know what’s in the food. We have a severe allergy and ordered an entree Fettuccini Alfredo and it contained an ingredient not generally included in this recipe. Luckily I was able to taste it and didn’t eat any more of it. Paying extra for the obstructed view room wasn’t worth it. I was very frustrated when I saw they were offering the same room for $400 less just a month before our cruise. They put the us in a room that had bunk beds and set up our room with a queen bed. You couldn’t get around the bed and it took us two days to reach our steward to get our bed changed to twins. Rooms are small. We never got our bathroom trash emptied during the entire cruise. Very limited shore excursion options for disabled guests. We did the ones available and basically heard the same stories over and over again at different ports. Perhaps this was due to only utilizing disabled options. Extremely limited options if someone uses a wheelchair. Luckily my husband didn’t need to take it all of the time. I worked with their shore excursion desk to change an excursion from volcanoes national park to one they said would be better for my husband and he could take his wheelchair with him. He had to stay in the parking lot because this new excursion included using over 185 stairs. He did get to see one waterfall from the parking lot. It was a complete waste of our money. I don’t know if it was due to the size of the ship but you’ll definitely feel constant movement. Not for anyone who has motion sickness. Luckily neither my husband or I have that problem. Cost of alcohol was very high in comparison to other cruises we have taken. We don’t drink very much so it doesn’t pay for us to purchase the all inclusive beverage packages. We just order bottled water in advance and purchase the soda package. I was disappointed overall with the cruise. This was the only time we have cruised with Norwegian. The islands are beautiful and we enjoyed seeing them. The weather was perfect. The majority of the NCL staff are incredible and go out of their way to provide you with a wonderful experience. Perhaps we’ve just been spoiled by our other cruises by different companies. I would really encourage anyone to think about what’s most important to you before booking this cruise. Read Less
