Definitely disappointing

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on S.S. Beatrice

Went on uniworld last year Avignon to Lyon. Great cruise. Great food, wine service. Not this year. What happened to the personal butlers? Gone! Food was at best average and some afternoons even worse. Cabins are smaller. Tours are shorter and not as interesting. I loved last year. Not this year. I would not recommend this tour. I do not think I will go uniworld again based on the price and value. ...

No acknowledgement of issues

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on S.S. Beatrice

I have waited to write this review, because I am really loathe to write a bad review without hearing from the service provider. There was a problem with sewage on the ship for the first 3 or 4 days and there was a penetrating and sickening odour on the ship - especially in the main entrance and at the end of the dining room. One staff person acknowledged that there was an issue but our ...

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Viking Star

I have traveled other European rivers with Viking, but had never been on the Elbe so was eager to return to Prague and head north to Berlin on the Elbe. The boat was great, the good was excellent (and plentiful), the tour director was amazing, and the weather mostly cooperated. The stop in Litomerice was a disappointment and I would have liked to have had more time in Meissen, but other than ...

Our first river cruise, but not our last

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on AmaPrima

We took the Amawaterways Danube River cruise from Prague to Budapest. After a three day visit to Prague, we boarded the ship in Vilshofen for a 6 night trip, followed by a one night stay in Budapest. Most of the excursions were included and had a wide choice of difficulty to accommodate every passenger. The few extra trips that we took were well worth the money as well. All of the tour guides ...

This was our first river cruise and we chose the Danube beginning with a land pre-excursion in Prague. We chose AmaWaterways based upon recommendations by friends as well as our travel agent. They don't advertise like other river cruise lines so I was always wondering how they would compare to commercials I'd seen. We are now loyal AMA cruisers. It was so elegant and was far beyond my ...

Scenic Sapphire-Gems of the Danube

Just home from a fabulous cruise on Scenic's beautifully appointed Sapphire which included a 3 day land tour in Prague at the beginning of the trip. This enabled us to get ourselves somewhat acclimatized to the 8 hour time difference from our flight from Western Canada. The tour guides were very informative, Scenic buses always at the ready to transport us to and from our land tours. The ship was ...

Great River Cruise

We cruised from Prague (actually a bus trip from Prague to Vilshofen via Regensburg) to Budapest. We had a Category C, cabin 230. Embarkation at the Hilton Old Town was quite easy. AMA sells a pre-tour which stays at the Hilton. We stayed there on our own, and there are other hotels on that block. All you need to do is get your bags to the bus in front of the Hilton by the departure time. AMA ...

Christmas cruise from Prague to Amsterdam

The Amawaterways staff was outstanding. The ship was great. We were on the top floor with a Juliet balcony. I thought that the tours were wonderful as were the local guides. The food outstanding(except we've had better bread on big cruise ships). Free wine, beer and soft drinks with meals a plus. The cruise line was very classy in our opinion, giving us Christmas presents and bon voyage presents ...

Outstanding trip/cruise director (Uwe), immaculate cabins, interesting

This was our first river cruise so we have nothing to compare it with other than luxury ocean cruising with Silversea and Regent. It was called "Great Capitals and Vintage of the Danube". It started with a 3-day land pre-extension in Prague (based in the very nice Hilton Old Town), followed by a 7-day cruise from Vilshofen to Budapest. It was a wine-themed cruise, with multiple on-board tastings ...
