Based on our research, firsthand testimonials and travel agent recommendations, we chose Avalon. So, expectations were high. Well, this trip exceeded anything we could have dreamed of. Our trip was packaged with our travel agent through Avalon/Globus. This included the flights, transfers, accommodation (2 nights pre cruise in Prague) and on board gratuities... Avalon rep greeted us at the ...

First the Danube River Cruise with Avalon Exceeded our expectations. The crew and accommodations were first class and professional making us feel at home and welcome. The shore excursion's were not only educational but just the right length so that you have plenty of free time to just explore. The guides all being local offered particular insights to the local history and culture. The dining ...

Don't book a river cruise - very expensive mistake

While most people were notified before they left home, we were not, that our cruise would not be sailing as planned. I had no idea the river levels were too low in places until I arrived in Prague for the land portion of the cruise. The theme of this so called river cruise was how many hours can we put you on a bus instead of enjoying your relaxing river cruise? This cruise has been a joke from ...

We sailed on the 2 night Prague, 7 nights Nuremberg to Luxembourg, 2 night Paris itinerary at the end of September. The ship itself is very comfortable and we had a cabin on the highest deck, which I recommend since it puts you a little higher above the water. Very well put together cabins, excellent free internet service, lovely to turn your entire cabin into a balcony by opening the floor to ...

We love Avalon Waterways, have had great experiences with their ships! Embarking and disembarking smooth as can be, love the way you can place your suitcase at end of cruise for early morning pickup and not midnight like big ships! 2 nights in Prague before boarding the ship was a good start. Cabins have plenty of room, love the full glass sliding doors with bed facing the doors. Dining room ...

I was with my siblings and mom, five of us total. We spent the three extra days in Prague and had a great time exploring. Each day we found new area and less touristy areas to explore. Our cruise director, Hendrick, was very informative. Due to last minute river rising, our cruise itinerary changed. We could not board in Nuremberg. However, Avalon was very accommodating in that we were ...

From a previous European river cruise, I learned there is no place not worth seeing here thus we couldn't wait to take another. We booked this less than 2 months after returning from our last one. The main reason we choose this particular cruise was we always wanted to visit Paris and some of the other places included. It was amazing how well organized the entire trip went. One night one of the ...

Overall the river cruise was very good, it was just misleading in selling to us that all cabins are balcony, when in fact the level one was not. The several ports visited was more than what I expected. There was race discrimination on service especially the head of the dining or banquet including a female server. People were already seated and having their wine and were asked to leave and ...

We liked the idea of visiting many cities over a short period of time with no hassles e.g booking in and out of hotels and transfers etc. We found the staff friendly, the food very good and the accommodation outstanding. The tours that were included with the cruise were well organised and very interesting. All the buses we went on were very modern. One of the buses even had 5G wifi ...

First River Cruise

We have taken many ocean cruises, and felt it was time to try a river cruise since they have become so popular. While there are some similarities, this is a far different experience a large ocean liner. Some examples: Easy on/off the ship, little in the way of activities, less walking on board, food gets repetitive after a few days, cruise directors that act like a human being rather than a stage ...
