Port of Providence

Providence is the capital city of Rhode Island in the New England region of the United States, and it's a city with a distinct personality steeped in art. Arriving in Providence, it's obvious almost immediately that it's a quirky city with a lot of unique sights to experience. From universities and museums to the massive Providence Place Mall and an abundance of small galleries and boutiques, there is something for everyone.

Active travelers also have plenty of options, including kayaking on the Providence River or even taking a running tour of the city's major attractions. The expansive RiverWalk is a great place to spend a couple of hours and get a feel for the culture in Providence. During the Summer and Fall months, it's the site of a popular art installation dubbed WaterFire that is comprised of a series of multisensory bonfires that create a stunning visual. The area is also packed with historic landmarks, shopping opportunities and a variety of excellent restaurants.
