Spring Had Not Arrived Yet

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Pearl Mist

We chose this cruise because we had never been to eastern Canada, and it was the only cruise and time of year the ship visited Toronto as well as Montreal and Quebec City. The best part and a surprise treat was that all shore excursions were complimentary. That saved us over $1,000 and freed us to choose what we wanted to do without regard to price. In some ports we took two shore excursions a ...

Good Itinerary; Tired Ship

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Pearl Mist

I chose this cruise because I had never visited the part of eastern Canada the itinerary covered. The staff is attentive, service is excellent, food very good. The the ship caters to seniors but, unfortunately, assumes that all seniors are inactive; there is no treadmill, the fitness equipment that is available is in poor condition and located outside, making it unusable in inclement weather. ...

Canadian Maritime and St Lawrence Seaway combined with Great Lakes and Georgian

Review for a North America River Cruise on Pearl Mist

I've read many reviews about many cruise lines. I believe that people that are dissatisfied are way more likely to post a review than those who are completely happy with their experience. I'm going to be as objective as I know how. The only area in which I'd give a low mark is the internet connection ability. It was slow to non-existent as well as unpredictable. If you're a person who needs ...

Fall Cruise to Maine - with Lobster as a Side

Review for a U.S.A. Cruise on American Independence (formerly Independence)

This was a 2nd cruise with American and while it was not quite as enjoyable as cruising the Chesapeake Bay on the brand new Constellation, it was still worth the cost. Our trip was a "Lobster" cruise and Lobster it was. Lobster was available on every menu and it was real Maine Lobster. If you ever want to see how much lobster you can eat in a week this is the cruise for you. While the Independence ...

The Columbia River Gorge is absolutely breathtaking!

Review for a U.S.A. Cruise on American West (formerly Queen of the West)

I chose this cruise because I went with a group of 20 people. The Columbia River Gorge is beaufiful and in a part of the country not visited by my husband and me before. Other members of the group has previously cruised with American Cruise Lines; this was a first for us. I would not recommend the Queen of the West to anyone else. We managed with the room and bath but it was far less than ...

If you love Lobster!

Review for a U.S.A. Cruise on American Independence (formerly Independence)

We chose this cruise because we wanted to see Maine. It was very interesting to see the little towns along the Maine coast. We then left from Portland and took the CAT Ferry to Nova Scotia. If doing the Maine cruise, you can always hop on the ferry then which is right next door to where the ship docks. The lobster was excellent and we had it 3 times during the cruise and also had many dishes ...

Pretty Good Trip

Small ship worked out well. We had a bad night but the crew was terrific in handling it. The crew of our ship was excellent everywhere but in the person of the Cruise director. The accommodations are good but not luxurious, more than adequate for this trip. The food was also very good. The destinations were as advertised, but could use a little more interest/excitement. The onboard entertainment ...

Nice cruise overall; some improvements needed.

I am not a professional reviewer, and this is just my opinion. My wife and I are no big fans of mega-ships, so we thought we'd give Pearl Mist a try. We chose to sail from Portland, Maine, to Québec City in the fall so we could enjoy the vaunted fall foliage. The Pearl Mist is a small, intimate ship with a maximum of 210 or so paasengers, and on that voyage we were a total of 189 people. There ...

Pleasant Experience and Good Value

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Pearl Mist

This was only my third cruise but I have traveled quite extensively so I think I have some understanding of overall travel experience and value. I traveled with my husband. He is 68 and I turned 60 just after the end of this cruise. Our cruise was the Canadian Maritimes and St Lawrence Seaway (14 nights). Pearl Mist is not a luxurious ship but she is nice enough and she is comfortable. We ...
