For anyone relying on a wheelchair, beware. There were steps to navigate during initial boarding; the day trips were unavailable to us because 5 of the stops we anchored in the harbor and the small boat used to get us to the mainland had steps; and if we were able to get to land, the tour busses were not wheelchair accessible. There were layers of problems getting off and on the boat so even if we ...

We chose this cruise to be with our aging parents. The good news: nobody died. The bad news: we had to live through a week of noisy nights, cheap over cooked or processed food, missed excursions, and cheap accommodations. We arrived at ports only to be told we could not disembark because of weather. Our itinerary changed with no notice as the staff made poor decisions about excursions. It was ...

I don't know where to start. Everything was really filthy. This includes but not limited to the carpets, furniture, common areas, etc. The furniture felt like we were staying in a dirty hospital room. To make matters worse, the ship left a port and sailed into a storm with 15 foot swells. The captain new this storm was there as the crew boarded the windows on the entire first deck. This occurred ...

Friends had travelled on river cruises in Europe and wanted to try US cruises. We knew that they were more money than larges cruise ships but American Cruise Lines advertised that we would get professional and top rated service. This was not the case as young college students that did the housekeeping and waited in the dining room had a 1 week training [as told to us] and were going back to ...

This was supposed to be a 50th wedding anniversary gift for myself and my wife. We love the east coast, being from California we don't get to see it very often, and we thought, what better way to explore that area of the country. From the start things went wrong. The information on the website says that American Cruise Lines has modern "brand" new ships. If that's the case, The American Glory ...

My friends and I (6 of us in all) were looking forward to our cruise up the Maine coast. We are seasoned travelers and have experienced many cruises over the years. We were all very disappointed and felt we paid too much and received too little. The Glory is a very inadequate ship -- old and in need of retrofitting. There were no stabilizers and during the night the water was so rough the ...

An Accident Waiting to Happen....

The Pearl Mist is an accident waiting to happen. The average age passenger is somewhere north of 75 and many of them use walkers, canes and wheelchairs. The current lifeboat procedure calls for passengers to "muster" in the dining room on the first deck then proceed to the fourth deck to actually board their lifeboats. If you make the general assumption that a real "abandon ship" drill would ...
