Disappointed

Hubby and i selected this cruise because we thought cruising the maine coast and traveling to the small maine coastal villages would be fun. There actually was very little coastal cruising, parked us inland due to bad weather and took us via coach ( bus) to our ports. Our veranda suite was a huge disappointment. not enough space in the closet for our clothes ( and this was just a 7 day ...

First Time on ACL

Our first time cruise on ACL was the Maine Coast and Harbors. We were scheduled to leave out of Portland ME, but rough seas kept the Eagle in Bath ME. ACL was very accommodating and bused us from Portland to Bath. Arriving at the ship, the boarding process was painless. The crew was most helpful and directed us to the restaurant for lunch while they offloaded the luggage and placed them in our ...

TURN RIGHT FOR RELAXATION!!! BIG VS. SMALL CRUISE SHIPS

When my husband and I exited our uber at the Portland Pier, I had a vivid reminder of WHY I started doing "small ship cruising." Docked behind the beautiful and tastefully appointed American Eagle was a LARGE cruise ship. While we walked up to the American cruise line welcome tent we were given keys to our stateroom in five minutes. We had a glimpse of hundreds of passengers on the 'big' ship ...

It doesn't get much better then visiting ports on the coasts of Maine on a newly designed ship - the latest design on the American Cruise Line fleet. A special thanks to Mother Nature for blessing us with wonderful weather during our seven nights at sea! The American Eagle is an impressive vessel that embodies casual elegance. The interior is neutral and tasteful and the rooms are spacious ...

ART IMMERSION CRUISE MADE THE BEST NEW FRIENDS!!!

This was my first cruise EVER that I took with my mother as her gift to me. What an amazing memory and the best part is my 'cruise souvenirs' were a group of women that I hope to see, again, soon! I was excited to see the beauty of Maine from the water after visiting some of the ports last year by land. The water gives you an entirely different perspective! Portland, Maine is the 'city' we ...

My return to the American Independence (I sailed in May 2021 on the Chesapeake) for a PORTS OF MAINE CRUISE was just what I needed to force me to relax from my busy life and let "someone else do the driving!" Cruising on American Cruise Line is so effortless. Once you arrive with your luggage it is all "gladly giving up the controls" and letting this amazing and attentive staff do the ...

A disappointment

This was a cruise of the New England Islands. We were excited to see these islands and they were beautiful. The stops were typical of small town New England coastal life. It was interesting to see how the very rich live. We chose American Cruise Lines because our previous experience with ACL on the Columbia River was great. Of course that was before the pandemic. Perhaps, that ...

Unbelievable Trip through Maine

I chose this cruise because I live in Florida and felt the weather in Maine was the best weather in the US in summer. Also I love lobster and was excited that it was a big part of the cruise. I was in Maine over 40 years ago and loved it. This cruise covered Bar Harbor, my past destination and so much more. I love the intimacy of American CruiseLine. You actually get to make friends. There are no ...

People probably are thinking about booking cruises again with decreasing Covid cases and spring coming. We would like to share our experience with American Cruise Lines – specifically the unsanitary conditions and lack of maintenance on the Independence. On August 28, 2021, we departed from Portland, Maine (Stateroom 311). Positive features of the cruise include: (1) the delicious food and food ...

A most unpleasant cruise

This cruise ship, Independence of the American Cruise Lines was the worst ship I have ever been on and I have been on quite a few cruises. Our room was very dirty; huge stains on the carpet; furniture that you would not even attempt to sit in; bathroom was also very dirty. Housekeeping was minimal at best. The ship broke down, one generator totally died and the other one was getting close ...
