We are experienced cruisers and have been loyal Holland America for a while. We went on this cruise because it was my high school reunion cruise. I have always said never on a BIG ship, well I now mean NEVER. Too many people pushing, cutting in front of, rude and crowded. Too many children, we wondered if we were on Disney by the large number of children who ranged from infants(how can you enjoy a cruise with an infant is beyond me), to teens, running, screaming, pushing all the elevator buttons, and more screaming. The noise level is above real, bring ear plugs. The only place we found some peace and quiet other than our cabin was the Solarium(adults only) and on some occasions Park Place. All the announcements, music, narration is beyond a human's hearing ability, so loud. The service in the Main Dinning room was very good. Our group had to eat at 5:30pm which is not what we wanted but in order to be seated together it was our only choice, Royal would not work with us on this. The food there was good and hot, I will not say delicious except for the escargot, onion soup, lamb chops and desserts. Royal is not a cheap cruise line, they will nickel and dime you to death, want to watch a movie in your cabin will cost you $11.99. The cocktails are all over priced and often only a half full glass, is Royal really that desperate for money?? Don't forget your umbrella, when it rains on this ship everything gets wet and all the passengers crowd into the interior. My biggest complaint is smoking is allowed in the casino. I like to play Black Jack and there was always someone smoking. This is a dangerous fire and health hazard, I don't want to breath second hand smoke. The life boat drill was a joke, they could never get all these bodies off this monster. The video they showed was a take off of James Bond and so poorly done. We could not hear this or see it from where we were seated in the Promenade. I don't know how Royal gets away with such a drill as the passengers kept talking through it all. We have sailed Royal years back and all I can say it was night and day difference from our last Royal cruise. Shoving in line at the buffet was so bad and you serve your self, a real potential for food contamination. We only ate there once and said never again. Again, too many children, why were they not in school at this time of the year is beyond me. Guess you can tell we were very unhappy on the monster and will be returning to Holland America for our next cruise. Read Less

Wanted to try the Mariner again after 11 years. Booked an Owners Suite # 1628. Overall found the ship in fair condition. The balcony for our room was not in good shape. Furniture in our room was very old. Looks like the only thing replaced during the refurb was the carpet. As we send a lot of time in our room, will stick to sailing in full suites on an Oasis Class ship. Room attendant had a total of 15 Suites and Balcony Cabins. Our cabin was never completely straightened or cleaned. Royal needs to cut back on the number of cabins for their attendants. Suite Lounge was very nice and never over crowded. As we were in port everyday, 2 days at COCOCAY, had to eat lunch in the windjammer as the dining room was never open. Breakfast in Chops was nice. However, the room was drab and windows were very dirty. Read Less

My family and I wanted to take a end of the summer vacation together. We cruised August 16-19th. We honestly decided to cruise Norwegian because of the open bar, because we normally cruise Royal Caribbean but drink packages for 20 is a tad expensive. Norwegian open bar was really not worth it the staff was so rude and made the guest feel unwelcome like we were annoying them. The food on the ship was disappointing. A lot of the food was like hospital food with little flavor. The service from the staff was horrible. The majority of the staff including the bartenders and waiters was that they appeared to be annoyed by the guests and seem to have a careless attitude about providing good service. I have travelled on other cruise lines so I understand what quality customer service is and it was not there on this trip. When I would approach a staff member with a simple question no one ever seem to have an answer and the majority of the staff was not able to communicate basic english to answer questions like “where is the bathroom”? Or “what time are we scheduled to be at our next destination?” We upgraded one of our rooms to a balcony and it wasn’t worth it. The room was so tight that you literally had to jump over one bed to get in the room. I really wish I had a picture of that mess. Also, before cruising I was told I had to put a $300 hold per room. I did not have to do that my room key was disabled from making purchases which was fine I did not want to make any purchases. So if your wondering I set my payment to cash on checkin and never went to the service desk to change it. No $300 hold and cards disabled. For smokers they don’t sell Newport’s so don’t run out. Based on this experience this will most likely be our last cruise with Norwegian. Read Less

Cruised with 27 others. Had family, friends and Niece and Nephew 17&18. HOTS june 2019. We all felt the free food was excellent except for Solarium poor service & food. I reserved two times for free dinner every night, Solarium 6pm and then also My Time Dining 8:30 since we had no idea of show times & did not want to miss since dinner service is alloted 2 HOURS every night. The room attendants and food staff that we saw or spoke were almost all exceptional. There is an 18% tip already paid, we paid an extra 10 to 15% on top and could charge to our room. RC constantly nickel and dimed during the entire pre cruise, items that stated would be included were not get everything email led to you if they tell you something. Voom almost NEVER worked, no way to communicate with rest of our group, RC should atleast put dry erase boards on doors so we could tell everyone where wewent and in four hours where we will be. Print out your entire daily planner, to prove what you paid for and time you scheduld since their app hardly worked. I had to fight to get 1-arcade $ back, since card did not work( had already worked with attendant night before), 2- $ back from cancelled port RC excursion, 3- proof of dinner reservation # reserved and time 4-i have limited mobility and diarrhea was noted on my reservation and RC could not confirm where the $1200 Chill Island Cabana i paid for was..of course 2nd in line on Day one excursion CS had my reserved cabana the farthest last one as far away from bathrooms as possible to walk in 4 inch sand THANKS RC for working with me . 4- got $ back on voom since down so many days. 5- got $ money off cabana since items that should have been included were not - combination locking lid, speaker, usb outlet all none Existant. 6- Got bottle of wine since CS sold me personal Flowrider for my Fam of 3 (my Ipad blocked some drop downs for some reason and i never could read the excursion notes) but not the personal whole hour one on one, was only personal with 12 other guests. 7- RC sponsored excursion start time changed weeks ago, noth Ng noted on my stuff, noone informed us i guess they dont know how to pick up phone or knock on door but willing to interupt my meal to ask me to change my dinner time to 9pm for the remainder of the cruise. Oh the biggy, the weather was crummy, the second largest ship in the world swayed all day and night the first 3 days - in bed, during day, durring dinner, on top deck on bottom deck while walking, everywhere. It was not killer, but i have vertigo so it affected me more than others, but everyone was talking about it. Cool to watch the water swaying out of the pools though. So when it rains no Flowrider, mini golf, rockclimbing or ofcourse pool..could use hot tub since under cover. Since voom did not work, dinner reservation for everyone went out the porthole, first three nights instead of 2 hrs, took an extra 30 to 45/min to seat, so turned into 3 HOURS for dinner. Which dominoed into evening events , that were cancelled. Bummer again. Ps RC luggage tags are competely different, confirm size and shape before buying the cutesie tags. We had an okay time, expectations were high, being let down could have been avoided. Check out Rcblog to get good tips. Read Less

We have done 27 cruises but this has to be the worst designed ship we have sailed on, we picked this cruise for the terrific ports of call which did not disappoint plus NCLs ad 4 FREE AT SEA allowing us a free premium booze package pp. -4 free dinners at a specialty restaurant of choice- Free WIFI- AND $150.00. OBC. well 3 weeks after booking flights hotels etc. we received an email stating NCL was charging my CC $385 for gratuities on the booze dinner package don't know if this is legal paying for services you have not had yet and to add insult to injury you had to pay$3.00. for water as NCL does no cover this even on a premium booze package this seemed to be the theme with NCL nickel and dime you to death for everything. We had a family suite on Deck 13 unlucky for us the cabin as you opened the door had a toilet on the left when I sat down my head hit the wall overweight patrons beware its tight also the shower bath directly across had see thru frosted glass and a stupid privacy curtain connecting both, behind this was an open wash basin in the middle of the circular theme cabin? with a uncomfortable to sit round sofa and a circular bed where your feet hung out the bottom, on the other wall were circular cabinets and hidden electrical sockets underneath on the wall that was very hard to reach the person who designed these cabins and the ships layout should get fired. There were far to many people on this ship 4,200. so there were queues all the time for everything especially the complaints desk on deck 4 if you could find it? as the elevator did not have a deck 4 you had to get off at 5 and walk through the Casino to an escalator down to get to 4, the lines here were unreal the longest was the complaints, we gave up, most of the crew did an excellent job trying to keep the peace but just to many things going wrong to list here. The Buffet food was just the usual and cool I stuck to having fresh made omelets daily which were very good the special dinners were very good especially the Teppanyaki went here twice there again the maître de came with a bill with no charge on it but was he was looking for another tip ? the Italian restaurant you had to go all the way to the front of the ship and walk through the main buffet to a narrow stairway down a deck, the waiter here was quite rude and must have been new as he had no idea what he was doing but the food was good. On the plus side the Asian maître de in the MDR was so helpful the food and service here was excellent considering the size of the dining room also the casino bar is located at the entrance to the MDR so when it opened there was always a queue and everyone in the queue wanted a drink I was amazed at how the Head Barman and his crew served up the drinks and kept a every one happy, extra gratuities we left for this guy. The Beatles show was very good in the main theatre as the cavern club was small and always full up . Also this is the first time ever we never got an evaluation report card to fill in after the cruise. We will be going back to the Celebrity Millennium& Solstice Class ships from now on with fewer people and much better food and service no nickel and dime stuff with them. Read Less

We like ships wth no more than 320O passengers. Have sailed various lines in the last 10 years. Decided to try a bigger ship. A mistake. Too many passengers and too many had complimentary drink package. So the ship, was full of too many drunks, mostly ages 35-55 who were loud, disruptive, particularly in dinner dining rooms. If you don’t have a reservation for dinner you will wait in a line. Couldn’t see a show because you needed a reservation and none available. Ship is a floating bar/casino. Our cabin (category B.B.) was in a good location considering there were only 2 elevators (forward and aft). Cabin design was the worst, many other passengers said the same thing. Entering the cabin the toilet was on one side, shower on the othe. Sink, medicine cabinet was at the foot of the bed. 2ft between foot of the bed and vanity area. Very poor lighting. We were always bumping into each other. Crew was really great and food was better than average. Will never sail this ship again or recommend it Read Less

This was my 15th cruise, 3rd with NCL. We chose this particular Spring Break cruise to join family with grandchildren. The shows we saw ("Priscella Queen of the Desert" & "Burn the Floor") were the best I've seen on a cruise ship. Loved them. Wish we had known to make reservations for Cirque Du Soleil as soon as we got on board, before muster call. We couldn't get into that one. The food was OK. The service in the restaurants and bar areas was really spotty. Sometimes we had good service but at several meals the waiters acted as if it were an inconvenience to take our order. A large number of guests seemed to have drink packages. I had to wait in line as much as 15 minutes at the bar to get a glass of wine. The food at the Brazilian style Moderno specialty restaurant was quite nice. The main reason for my 2 star review was the debarkation "process". We did the "easy!!!" self assist in order to meet our shuttle to Orlando International. So did everyone else. It was pure chaos with no organization. Everyone was confused and asking which deck to go to. It was not published anywhere in the handouts nor on the TV information channel. The crew we asked gave us different answers. We ended up lugging our suitcases downstairs (30 minutes prior to debarkation time estimate) since the elevators were packed in both directions. By the time the cruise director announced "Deck 7" for self assist the crowd was out of control. We were directed to one "line" that extended from the front of the ship to the back. The "line" went down the entire length of the ship, around the dining room, outside and then back up to the front of the ship. Another "line" went roughly from the back to the front of the ship. There were almost no crew there to organize the lines. We saw only 1 crew member at the front and 1 at the back of the ship. It was a complete free-for-all with passengers coming down the elevators jumping in front of irate passengers that had been queued up for 45 minutes. IT TOOK 1-1/2 HOURS JUST TO GET OFF THE SHIP. The delays were totally on board. Customs and immigration were not backed up. We tipped a porter and went straight thru. The debarkation experience ruined the trip. Read Less

We had to wait a long time just to get on ship. Because of engine problens, we were not able to visit the islands of St Thomas. and Tortolla. Also. we were not able to go to Norwegians private island. To top things off. we arrived back at Port Canaveral. The crew worked extra to try to make up for the many problems. the entertainment was not the best. We did enjoy the Beatles presentation. The other to shows were not to our likeing. The food was very good. Many selections allowed us to choose what we liked. The wait staff seemed friendly but always in a hurry. Our cabin housekeeper was fantastic. I chose this cruise because my friend was going to come with me. It would be her first cruise ever and I thought Norwegian was a good starting point. I especially wanted her to see The Baths in Tortola. The cruise didn’t turn out even slightly like I imagined it would. You can look on YouTube for the many videos of the mess that happened on this ill fated cruise. It was awful. We not only missed all of our ports of call, we also missed the Latitudes parties and dinner with an officer. We were told that all of the officer staff was working on the engine problems. I’m sure the hotel manager was very helpful. The only good thing was that we got our cruise fare back as a future cruise credit. The main disappointment was that we were basically kept in the dark about what was happening. When the captain did come on over the intercom, you couldn’t understand anything he said. Luckily the cruise director would often reinterpret what he said into English. We had 3 separate times communicated to us about our arrival into Port Canaveral. People were crowding the reception area trying to change their flights home. It was ridiculous. Disembarkation was unorganized and hectic. The baggage claim area was a zoo. It was the worst ending to a sorry cruise. Read Less

Price was a deciding factor. We overall did not like this cruise at all. Inside staterooms are awful. No space to put things and lighting was very lacking. NCL has taken lobster, shrimp cocktails and escargot off the dining menu unless you go into a pay restaurant. Food selection in the buffet area was better than the main dining rooms. Never once did the main dining staff ever introduce themselves. You had to go through the smokey casino to get to the dining rooms. One night it smelled so bad that it triggered an asthma attack with one of friends and they missed the next 2 ports. The ship was very clean but configuration was not what we would call convenient. The entertainment was not easy to get into unless you reserved a spot and most were so crowded that it was standing room only. Only saw 1 show and had to stand for most of it. Our form of entertainment was in the atrium and it also lacked seating. We were asked to answer survey questions and voiced our concerns and no one ever got back with us. Ports of call were great...had a blast. Did not go to the private island. In Jamaica we went to Bamboo Beach VIP and had a blast. Food, entertainment, drinks and private beach (only 17 of us) was well worth $99 each as the alcohol was free flowing and potent. Very beautiful area and our tour guide Anne Marie was fantastic. Can't wait to go back but won't be on a NCL ship. Read Less

I have always bragged to others about the quality and variety of food on the Carnival Menu and buffets. BUT on the Sunshine it was the worst food ever encountered on a cruise ship. Our food was cold, crusty, and dried. The salads were browned lettuce and soups were cold. The service was extremely slow and not acceptable at all. We are both diamond VIP members with Carnival. We have sailed on over two hundred cruises and most every cruise line. We understand that booking with different cruise lines you will experience different types of food, however, cold, tasteless, no quality food is unacceptable regardless of the cruise line. The Carnival product has greatly deteriorated and is not at all like previous Carnival cruises we have experienced on most every cruise ship in their fleet! We are very concerned that this ship does not follow ADA guidelines. It was one of the most unfriendly to handicapped passengers in wheelchairs and the guests were unwilling to share the elevators even though the US law states that wheelchair passengers have first priority in the elevator use. Fellow passengers are getting more and more antagonistic toward those who cannot walk and must use a wheelchair as well as the cruise ship staff! It is interesting to note that Carnival is changing the booking mechanism for handicapped cabins. They have gone from wheelchair cabins with roll in showers to calling the same exact cabin a "walker" cabin thereby eliminating the need to accommodate wheelchair guests. It is blatant discrimination. We will carefully review our choices for cruising this year and go back to cruise line whose product we can trust. Carnival product is no longer the same. Read Less

We were looking forward to another cruise with NCL, since our experience on the Pearl was good. This was awful! *The embarkation was a fiasco, with the problem being more Port Canaveral's. It was a cold morning, and they had to stop allowing people up the escalator to the indoor waiting area. Fights were taking place, and security had to be called. Most were cold, hungry, tired and confused, since there was no communication from anyone. This became a constant theme throughout the cruise! But at no time did anyone from NCL apologize for it and take some responsibility. When you were finally on board it was as if nothing had happened. *Pools are a real joke!!! 3 of them, with one being in the quiet area. Very small, more of a stand-up pool. If any more than 4 people were in it, it became overcrowded. The main pool area was the only pool space with shade, but the stupid music was so loud you couldn't talk to each other. Ridiculous! Even after request to turn the music down, nothing! *Waiting for an elevator became a game. No matter which was it goes, climb on because you may never see another one! Too many scooters!!!!!! * To see any show, you had to wait in line for an hour, then seats were gone quickly. I have never had that experience on any other cruise. Venues are way too small for that size of a ship with that many passengers. *Front desk was somewhat rude. I asked a young lady where the library was (mapped showed it very close to their desk). The girl grabbed my map and sent me to the back of the ship. I came back and told her it should be near where we were. She simply repeated her orders. It was across the hall and behind a door! *Layout of this ship is terrible. Hard to maneuver around anywhere comfortably. *Talent on board, except for a few, was pretty bad. Howl at the Moon singers were not singers! * Onboard activities: Napkin folding! Just Dance! *Movies selected were unbelievable! Overboard, Adrift and Showdogs?! Really! Who picked this garbage? (Andre'?) One good day they showed "It's A Wonderful Life" and it was standing room only! *It was Christmas. Why not organize an evening of caroling, or show more holiday related movies? Other than decorations, it was never mentioned or celebrated. Very disappointing. *That leaves us with debarkation. We were herded onto the 6th floor, with no announcement from anyone, just rumors, to try and organize a line, which went from the front to the back of the ship. There was 1 person from staff I saw and she was yelling at someone who was trying to take the escalator to 5! Apparently, some big wigs from corporate were suppose to be there for our leaving, but never saw a single person!!!! No, wait...there were two lovely ladies waving goodbye and thanking us...Washy Washy Girls!!!! That was it. No thanks for spending your time, your money and your sanity with us. They could have cared less. We will never cruise NCL again! Read Less

Good Point: Emarkation Port close to our home city, Atlanta, Georgia Bad Points: 1. Ship needs dry dock and soon! 2. Tile floors near restaurants are cracked and broken, carpets are dirty, lights malfunctioning in elevators, I had to fix the "plug in" for the coffee maker, the ship is OLD, only 10 years old, and it shows it... 3. We were in a AFT balcony and the vibration when pulling in and out of ports was horrendous, so bad the cabinets over the head of the bed vibrated like they were going to fall. The glass windows on the BALCONY were never cleaned the whole cruise, the crew cleaned some but never finished and the rust is showing real bad... 4. Staff was not trained, for instance the line at the help desk was so long that the people would just walk up in front of the line and there was no one to "police" the line. When ship was releasing from port in Cozomuel, the crew while releasing ropes started pulling the wrong rope in, people were throwing chicken bones off the back of the ship into the water, and no staff to stop them. It was so cold in the TASTE restaurant we had to carry our beach towel with us to stay warm...And to top it off we got back into port at Canaveral on December 5, there were only 2 (TWO) Custom's Agents at the port trying to disembark over 4000 guest, IT WAS A TOTAL CLUSTER in the baggage claim area, almost missed our flight back home. 5. We did not buy the beverage package, my wife is "non-drinker"... A beer was $10 and a "double" drink was $22 (a single shot was $12). The ship no longer gives plastic straws, only paper and you have to ask the bar folks for them. It took 20 minutes just to get Sugar Free jelly and the tables were always out of the yellow package sweetener. The food on the dinner menus have become sub-standard. 6. We are Platinum Plus and never got a invite or a notice of any Captians Party for the previous guest, had to ask for our bottles of water...NCL has lost their management policies. 7. I rated Entertainment HIGH (VERY GOOD) that is because of "BURN THE FOOR" and "The Beatles Mania" shows were GREAT! Read Less

Long waits for the elevator. Theatre seated 800 passenagers same size as on the smaller ships. Did not like the crowded pool area on the upper deck- too crowded not eneough lounge chairs. The enteratinemnt was for the most part was mjust OK. We have experienced better entertainment on the smaller ships in the past. We’ve been quite “Loyal to Royal” for some time with a few “outside” cruises over several decades. Our next cruise is booked for April, but because we had a November business conference in Orlando, we decided to start with a short cruise to the Bahamas from Port Canaveral. What a disappointment... It wasn’t the size of the ship- we actually prefer smaller, more traditional vessels (ie Navigator) over mega ships (ie Allure). But this was a MESS! From the condition of the ship to the kind staff who simply didn’t seem to understand quality standards, this was by far our worst cruise experience. CABIN We were in a “Superior” Balcony room that was supposed to be a little larger than standard, but it was FAR from “superior.” We’ve had this type cabin before, and they were comfortable enough, but not on Enchantment. Hindsight tells us we should have gone to the hotel director (or whatever they’re called) for assistance, but a) we knew the ship was full and b) we were trying to convince ourselves everything was ok. Not recommended! If you’re miserable, you should let someone know. There were literally chunks missing from the walls, scratches, dings, peeling wallpaper, a drawer that fell out when opened, a sagging bed, rust and mold spots in the bathroom, and burned or dark stains on the sofa fabric. These issues only scratch the surface. We asked our steward for extra bed padding which we recited, and it did help, but it was still miserable. I don’t know why some cabins have the bed placed close to the door vs the balcony, but ours was like this, and we had about 2 feet maximum between the foot of the bed and the wall to navigate around in order to access the sitting area, dressing area and balcony. I’d had a knee procedure a few months ago, and I’m a small person, but wrenching my body around that space wrenched my knee into a state of pain worse than before the procedure. STEWARD While not the best or friendliest, he met our needs and was decent enough. Maybe we’ve been spoiled in the past, but he just didn’t meet standards of what we’ve come to expect from RC. DINING Other than a birthday dinner at Chef’s Table (which was quite nice, with a small, very eclectic group whom we really enjoyed), we had dinner at the same table every night in the MDR. The food was ok, but we don’t expect “outstanding” meals when cruising, even with specialty dining. We had the same mait’re de, head waiter and waiter every night, and they provided reliable and personalized service which was greatly appreciated, and so we “recognized” them our last night. But what a huge disappointment when afterwards they actually “solicited” us by asking for “good reviews with our names mentioned.” If you know RC, or perhaps all cruise lines, you know this is a grande faux pas, “NO NO.” In fact, we didn’t complete the RC post-cruise survey because we were concerned about possibly jeopardizing the jobs of people who sincerely worked very hard, awkward though they were. ENTERTAINMENT/POOLS/FACILITIES A lot of action on this sailing was in the casino, noticed when we passed through on the way to other venues. You expect casinos to be smoky, but this one needs help with ventilation. Had we wanted to gamble, there’s no way we could stay and play. Enchantment’s main entertainment takes place in the multi level, glass balconied Centrum where guests dance and sing the evening away with the performers. Of course the spirit of fun always includes disco 70s night, but these performers soooo over did it (we’re talking MAJOR bump/grind/grab self) that we were creeped out and left. We then tried reliable spots like the Schooner Bar and Bolero’s, but there we encountered some public coupling that was just a little too intimate for our comfort zone, and we’re no “prudes.” We believe we later saw some of these guests in the performance crew? We usually spend a lot of time on sea days around the pools and enjoy the music and dancing, but the volume or acoustics were just excessive on Enchantment. We went to the solarium pool and found it a little more tolerable, but not quite as clean as what you normally see on RC. PORTS/EXCURSIONS Having been to Nassau several times and loving Pearl Island, we tried a different RC excursion to Blue Lagoon and LOVED it. We chose the VIP version which included a beach section for adults only, a barbecue lunch, welcome drinks and OUTSTANDING service, making us finally feel we were on vacation. We spent $45 extra for a beach bed cabana, and it was DEFINITELY worth it! The water was calm, clear, and truly Bahamian Blue. GORGEOUS! On the other hand, compared to RC’s other private beaches on Labadee, Coco Cay was extremely lackluster and dull. My husband has had a 30 year career in the water park industry, so we weren’t looking for slides, inflatables, zip lines or pools, but the beach itself is just featureless. It’s no wonder RC is choosing to enhance it with a water park. Had it been open, we would still have chosen a beach clamshell rental only, but we did hear others complain about multiple delays on opening the new water park. (Note- park opening delays are standard). EMBARKATION/DEPARTURE I’m very sorry to say this was the best part of our “Enchanted” cruise. RC has embarkation down to precise science, and departure was organized and stress free. Unfortunately, this was the first, and hopefully ONLY time we were glad to de board! I wish we weren’t so negative, but we feel compelled to share our experience and perspective. Having sailed with RC many times, we’re certain others will have a much better cruise, and we’re sure our upcoming April cruise will be more similar to what we’ve experienced in the past. Maybe there are just times for some of us when things aren’t quite a match, or the experience just isn’t the same as before. Happy sailing! How sad to save our greatest compliments for embarking and departure. Read Less

sailed on sunshine before . wanted to go back . This cruise was ; the cruise from hell. Whatever could go wrong , did. Major problem was FTTF. Delayed on check-in, boarded with non FTTF guest. No stickers put on cabin cards waited in long line at front desk to get them put on. confirmed Reservations for dinner not honored. when talked to dining staff, told them of reservations made a year ago, they just dismissed me and said sorry. Cabin was not ready when we boarded plus the air was not working. took two days to get it working half way . Luggage arrived after everyone on our floor got theirs; then 2 pieces didn't show up until very late in the day. the only thing that worked on FTTF was getting off the ship. We are repeat cruisers on Carnival and unfortunately, we noticed how their service has gone downhill over the last 3 years. Before that , the service was excellent. Carnival should be more honest with people who purchase FTTF . Tell them that not all aspects of it work. For people who purchase it just to get on and get off quicker, more power to them, I will no longer waste my money on a program where only one or two of the perks work. Read Less

The embarkation in Port Canaveral was very organized but anything that went smooth all week was quickly forgotten today during disembarkation. We were in port for over 4 hours before the "carry your own luggage off" group was called to leave. There were no explanations or updates about the delay from the cruise director , "Jess from the U.S." Many passengers were yelling down to deck 3 asking for info. It was 5.25 hours before deck 8 was called. By then hundreds had taken their chances on exiting with the groups with luggage. The "Chefs Table" was fabulous as always. We loved the food and the host, Lama. Too, too much food but it was wonderful. Our wait staff, Leonilde (sp) and Rhoman in the Sunset Dining Room were great all week. I try to avoid the buffet but enjoyed breakfast/brunch in the Sunrise Dining Room. I was disappointed in the room service menu: my favorites were either removed or are now "extras". Breakfast on the balcony has been a big plus in the past. We enjoyed The evening shows in the Liquid Lounge .The Epic Rock production was one of the best I've ever seen on board any cruise line. We also enjoyed the meeting to honor veterans. We chose our excursion in Aruba based on previous reviews (ages 55-65+) but did not enjoy the Kukoo Kunuku party bus . There was a much younger crowd that night. The bars and restaurant we went to were in questionable areas at best. Some had security guards to escort us from the bus into the building. Most of the places had no other patrons besides the Carnival excursion. The mystery drinks served were free but strange tasting so we switched early on to bottled beer.I was very happy to get back to the ship. There wasn't a lot to do on sea days besides shop the usual trinkets and port needs. The jewelry was beautiful but browsing the display cases is impossible without the constant hovering . .....the fastest way to run me off. My enthusiasm for a rare stone was squelched quickly and I never returned. I will persue it locally. Read Less

For the amount of money I paid to go on this cruise, I should have at least been able to sleep in a bed. I took my mom and sister on a cruise and I of course got stuck on a HARD pull out chair that blocked the bathroom and exit of cabin. If your family are frequent users of the restroom this situation isn’t ideal. BUT don’t complain to customers service because they ARE SO RUDE ! I have never been on a cruise and heard so many people complaining about the ustomer service. Every time I walked by there were 3 to 4 ppl complaining about, leaky showers, wet carpet, dirty showers, dark ash in toilets everytime you flush, lost baggage .. I mean how in the heck do you loose baggage on a cruise and send noticed to the other cabins the night before we dock ??? Really ! You should have been in every cabin the 1st night of sailing! By far the worse cruise I have ever been on and I cruise once or twice a year ! Terrible, the only thing this cruise had going for them are the waiters in the bar and sit down dining. Dinner is the restaurant were my only hilights other than that don’t go with a high expectation, this boat is also for seniors. Not for anyone under 40 Read Less

This was my seventh cruise with NCL and my second on the Epic. I find that every time I travel with NCL my opinion of them decreases. I believe NCL should be advertised as a family and children friendly cruise line and discourage adults without children, or who are not in their 20s from travelling with them. On this trip to the Caribbean there were many unsupervised children - they were throwing food, changing the signage on the cabin doors (to do not disturb so the cabins didn't get made up), swimming in the hot tubs, throwing stuff overboard, and screaming at one another across the balconies, to name a few things. Parents seemed happy to ignore these activities. The 20 year olds weren't much different, getting seriously drunk and screaming at each other, and occupying the hot tubs for hours at time without letting others in. The food was good but on several occasions (especially during breakfast) our orders were incorrect (missing and incorrect food items). Cagney's was quite good though. On the second sea day we were up on deck at 830 and there were no chairs to be had, as people had set there stuff down and even though they did not occupy their seats for hours the did leave their towels on chairs so as to let others know they were theirs. We had the 'free' drinks package which was handy and the bar service was very good. Our cabin was very cramped and I did not like the frosted glass bathroom as it was obvious what was going on in there - and the frosted glass offered little soundproofing. The sink is also in the main cabin which can make washing a bit challenging if travelling with friends. The Epic is not very wheelchair friendly making access to the Taste dining room quite difficult as one of the two sets of elevators does not go to the fifth floor where it is located. Also included in our package was 250 minutes of 'free' wifi. While I thought this would be useful to stay in touch with family, there were so many people on board using wifi that it would take up to 5 minutes for a webpage to load, if it loaded at all. So I image of the time I spent using the wifi plan, I probably spent 20 minutes on the internet, the rest was 'page loading' or 'this page cannot be displayed' time. As we have experienced previously, the customer service from the guest services staff is terrible. There was a charge on our account that we did not make and we went to guest services to address it. The gentleman at guest services was rude and basically said it wasn't his problem. We've had previous problems with NCL guest services, including being yelled at for completing a guest survey they didn't like about the spa services. One of our stops was to Great Stirrup Cay which is an NCL owned island (I assume). We tendered over which took approximately 45 minutes from waiting for the tender, boarding hundreds of people and disembarking. The area was nice but the water was challenging to get around in due to the rocky bottom. Lunch was provided there but the lineup was giant. We did not wait for food but we were told by another guest that he waited 45 minutes for his tacos. The entertainment was okay but as we'd travelled on the cruise before we had seen all of the shows. The Beatles, Burn the floor, Pricilla were all repeats of the cruise we took a year ago. However, Pricilla was still pretty good. I do think they could add a few more games (trivia etc) and perhaps some new shows as there wasn't much going on that didn't require an extra fee. While I have enjoyed NCL over the years, I think it's time to move up to a more adult-friendly cruise line. I am not a big fan of having food thrown at me or listening to screaming children or drunken college kids while on vacation. Read Less

Had a percentage off and decide to go. It was a very noisy trip and the layout was terrible. I use a scooter and picked an accessible cabin near the aft elevators. You cannot get to the dining rooms without going all the way down to the forward elevator and then all the way to the back. Why put a restaurant in the middle of the ship that goes all the way across. The same was true of the casino. Never again. Food was good. As was the entertainment. It was just too noisy. The pools were too crowded. Towels laying everywhere but hardly anyone sitting there. The stewards were ok. Not great. Couldn’t engage in a conversation. 2 days room was never touched. And why does ncl take you to their private island that has no pier???? Those with wheel chairs or scooters could not go ashore. Never ncl again. Read Less

The service on this cruise was awful due to lack of experienced staff pitched in to a spring break environment. It was the same on the private island cruise stop in fact it was even worse. The customer service were not interested and seemed to be resigned to this. The food was continuously served up cold and you literally had to fight your way in to the bars to get a drink and then attract the attention of one of the bar staff if you could at all. I would have thought NCL knowing the timing would have compensated by increasing their staff numbers. We hand drinks packages to which they added service charges prior to departure which is a cheek when the service is as poor as this. We also had specialist restaurants package which we could not access because they had been fully booked before we got on the ship again I assume with service charges added to the cruise account. This was most annoying since it was the major reason for booking this cruise. The prices on board were extortio so beware if you sail without the packages. This is the second time we have been on this ship and our first experience was similar. In conclusion not the best cruise we have been on by far. Read Less

Chose the cruise because of departure and ports of call. The entertainment was 1st class as was the service. Line ups at the dining rooms were long and when you got a table the first thing you noticed were all the empty tables around you. It seemed that there was not enough staff to bus the tables as people left. The food was great as was the service once you had a table. A reservation was needed for everything right down to the tenders, not exactly my idea of freestyle.lines were long for everything.the room was poorly laid out and way too small. Even though smoking was prohibited on balcony, this didn't seem to apply to my neighours and continued even after my complaint to guest services.at 5his point the money spent on the balcony($1,000.00) was completely wasted.had a very unpleasant encounter with a member of the security staff over 2 small bottles diet coke which after a few rude comments he grabbed from my hand and threw into the trash. I didn't feel that this was a suitable way to treat my personal property. If it had been rum they would have held it and returned it at the end of the trip. His supervisor didn't seem to have a problem with his attitude or his actions.next time we will return to princess. Read Less

We chose the Breakaway because we had sailed on her before, we liked the itinerary and we wanted to visit NYC. We visited during the Bomb Cyclone in January. The ship had a late docking and we ended up missing the first day of our cruise. That, and an emergency evacuation resulted in us completely missing our overnight visit to Aruba. NCL offered some compensation for this. However, bad weather resulted in our delayed return to NYC. The resulting chaos was very distressful. Disembarkation was a lengthy, unorganized nightmare. We missed our late afternoon, return flight home which ended up costing us an additional $750. NCL would not offer any compensation for this. The food was average, and our balcony stateroom was as described, with plenty of storage space. We had a large balcony, but because of the weather we were unable to use it for at least half of our cruise. The atrium area was extremely loud which made it very difficult to communicate at the guest relations desk. Inadequate seating and uncomfortable chairs in the Atrium and some of the bars. Entertainment was good and varied. Wish they didn't allow smoking in the casino as the smoke permeates all nearby areas. The public areas onboard ship were very loud and congested when all decks were closed outside. Overall this cruise was not a very good experience. Read Less

I We live near Port Canaveral and decided to try Norwegian as we have never been on one of their ships. The boarding process took no more time than the Oasis ofthr Seas that we had taken last year but there the similarities ended. Our cabin, inside, was quite small. We usually book and oceanview but the incentives to take an inside cabin far outweighed those offered for an oceanview so I figured it would be Ok for a week. Everything was in the room! The toilet, the shower and the tiny sink. True there was frosted glass enclosures around both the toilet and the shower but there was no sense of privacy. We found that we were constantly walking through the Smokey casino to either reach the entertainment area at one end or the main dining rooms at the other end. With the exception of the Epic theater all areas seemed very congested. We’re as the Oasis with it’s 5000 passanger count never seemed crowded. The food was just OK, much better on the Oasis. The entertainment was good but we had trouble listening to some of the vocal groups as they were in small lounges with not enough seating. I’ll stick with Royal Caribbean! Read Less
