While looking for cruises around our birthdays (my 75th) we found one that left on my wife's birthday and on my birthday. Carnival was the one. Left from Port Canaveral was the easiest embarkation we were on board in 15 minutes (priority boarding) went to lunch and checked suite out. Everything was ready. Rm 11221 spa suite. Large balcony , walk in closet , large bathroom. And access to spa . Main dining room -Sapphire was great longest wait 10 minutes on my time dining. Went on excursions at all ports and booked thru Carnival . Great guides and interesting info on country. Some good deals on larimar jewelry in Dom. Republic. Our Room Steward Sabina was almost telepathic first night asked for ice and got it in 10 minutes the next night we called again she said it was in the room already - it was and she checked to make sure. Towel animals were great. Only negative was long lines for some of the food venues.Disembarkation was chaotic used our priority status to get off in 20 minutes.Sure helped . Was a great cruise and not our first one. Looking forward to next one. Did see a lot of young children that were not being watched by parents. Surprised that they weren't more cautious even on a CLOSED environment As a retired Police Officer I felt that they needed closer supervision. We live only an hour from Port Canaveral.and go to the Cape for launches -can see them on clear days from our front yard. Did not go to see any entertainment preferred to watch new movies on tv and occasionally room service which if you choose correctly was included in cruise cost. Great snacks. Asked for cheese plates to go from supper and never refused. Wait staff knew what we had for beverages after first night ,called us by our names and had beverages waiting at table. Embarrassed both of us on birthdays by singing Happy Birthday along with other diners at dinner. Read Less

Only short cruse available to book at the time. Glad it was only 4 day. Made friends with some first time cruisers. ran into them later; talk about being disappointed. Told them not all cruise lines were like this. Arrived at pier at 1pm. joined a wait line as long as the ship, no one greeting, no one with info, had to seek out where we could make show and dinner reservations. Service was hit or miss. some crew good some not, Supposed to leave at 8am. called our color, kept us in line for 11/2 hours asked to cut in line to get off. No reason no excuse made . Made our flight by 20 mins. good thing we were tsa pre. smoky casino, supposed to be separate. Get real thats not possible. lots more poor but Im tired of it and this 2nd class line. At least the entertainment was good. Cirque, beatles. burn the floor all good Girl that ran interactive shows was good. Lounge entertainment, guitar and piano were fantastic. Constant pre cruise emails to bid up to a private area. Had the Ultimate Drink Package. Not everything included. Must be a super ultimate somewhere!!! This ship is like the airlines. The shows were the best part. The performers were very talented The cruise director kept the entertainment flowing well The staff was accommodating when asked. The dining experience was poor in the dining room. A few too many cold over cooked foods for our small group of four One guest needed special food preparations due to food allergies The food was not prepared as well as it had been on other ships The choices were limited and were often served plain without flavor We booked 3 excursions through Carnival basically bus tours due to the mobility of one of our group. These tours always depend on the tour guide you get Unfortunately we did not luck out with oue San Juan tour. He was not very good.not engaging at all Our guide in St Kitts was informative and you felt at ease to ask questions The last was of St Martin the bus driver as well as the tour guide were very good. This cruise was set up for about 150 people by a travel agent who is a member of our fraternal order. It was a great deal, packaging everything into one price (cruise fare, port charges, beverage package and gratuities). Very convenient and a wonderfully great value. There is nothing better than a seven day cruise spent in only 2 ports plus their beach with the rest of the time floating on the sea. The ship was filled with endless activities to choose from, fantastic shows, comedy, entertainment and the largest casino we have seen on a cruise ship. The staff were all friendly and happy to serve us. The dining experience in all the standard restaurants was nothing short of excellent and the food was all up to a nice standard of preparedness, presentation and taste. We have sailed on about 7 different cruise lines and find that Norwegian suits our needs better than most of the others we have sailed. Read Less

This cruise was a sibling reunion - 5 brothers/sisters and spouses. We booked 5 oceanview rooms at the back of the boat, deck 2. It was wonderful to hear the hum of the engine as we slept and to see the wake, but be aware that when docking (and occasionally other times) there is a lot of engine noise. Our room steward (Silvana) was great! The rooms were clean and adequate. Walls and ceilings are magnetic, so bring magnetic clips! We sat at a large round table for dining and chose late dining (8:15). It was a bit later than we would have liked, but the early dining was too early. We loved our servers!! (Olga, I Madi and Widi). They made dining a highlight of the cruise. The food and selection was very good - much better than we expected! One comment (complaint actually) is that they have stopped putting tablecovers on except for formal nights, and the noise in the dining room is extreme - we couldn't talk to the people across the table from us! The entertainment was disappointing - not bad, per se, but lacking in variety and imagination. I'm not sure who they are catering to, but it didn't seem to be very popular with any group! Some cruises we have been on have had full broadway shows, cirque du soleil type acrobatics, professional ballroom dancers, music for all eras, lots of color and costumes, etc. The comedians were fine, the magician was okay - we never made it to the piano bar. The ship itself was clean and had nice amenities - fun mini golf and water slides and a nice outdoor theater, good hot tubs. The central atrium wasn't very exciting or beautiful. We had beautiful weather and wonderful stops, so all in all this was a great cruise. Read Less

We had to wait a long time just to get on ship. Because of engine problens, we were not able to visit the islands of St Thomas. and Tortolla. Also. we were not able to go to Norwegians private island. To top things off. we arrived back at Port Canaveral. The crew worked extra to try to make up for the many problems. the entertainment was not the best. We did enjoy the Beatles presentation. The other to shows were not to our likeing. This was the 25th cruise for both hubby and I, and our 4th NCL cruise in the last two years. We booked this cruise because we have been to most ports many times, but had never been to Tortola and Great Stirrup Cay. We flew into Orlando the night before and took an Uber to the port. (about $50) Because of a gangway issue, we waited in line for over 2 hours. It was cold and damp then started to rain. At one point there was no cover. We didn't seem to mind so much, but there were handicapped people with walkers and canes standing and waiting that long. NCL should have had someone out there in the lines to help those people. After finally getting on board, and still in good spirits, we found our room. This ship was built in France and the room layout was very strange. There was a ton of storage, but only one closet had hangers and they couldn't be moved. The room we had was equipped with a jacuzzi tub on one side, and a toilet on the other, both behind frosted glass. We didn't know our room would have a tub and you had to climb into it to shower. After knee replacements and a broken femur, this task was too difficult for me. We had to ask our room steward to get us a stool so I could maneuver in to shower. Having a glass door on the toilet area allowed NO privacy. We have been married for 47 yrs, but still need our privacy! The sink was tiny and in the room. The rest of the room was hard to walk around, very tight spaces. You get used to it after the week, but the layout is strange. On the 2nd day out, the engines trouble started and we sat dead in the water for over 2 hours. This was followed by canceling our ports and changing it to Puerto Rico, instead. We limped to Puerto Rico and got in to port in the late afternoon of day 3. Upon entering the port, we hit the gangways and standing on our balcony we watched them crash into the water. The new ship, EDGE was berthed next to us, and people on that ship cheered as we crashed our way in. ( You can watch this on YouTube.....we are actually standing on our balcony in the video). We stayed overnight in Puerto Rico and left the next day, hopefully with a repaired engine on our way to Great Stirrup Cay. Nope. The original 50% off a future cruise was now upped to 100% because now we were heading back to Port Canaveral...….and we would be 8 hours late. This didn't affect us that much, because our flight back to PHL was the following day. We only had to cancel a car rental and contact friends. Others were in a panic trying to cancel flights and get hotel rooms. NCL did offer $300 per person for flight change charges but the lines to use the phones were hours long. We also had the option of staying on board an extra night, but because of custom laws, everyone had to get off the ship, then come back on. Debarkation, although hectic, was smooth and considering the issues and crowds, not bad. Although this cruise had so many issues, we had a fun time. Everyone was so friendly and every time we got in the elevator there was chatter about what was going on. Many jokes and everyone had a story to tell when they got home. We met so many incredible people who were just going with the flow. Everyone was happy about the 100% future cruise credit and although we did hear that some people were unhappy, we never ran across those people. (They were probably down at Guest Services, complaining). We felt that we had a week of fun, sun, great food, and some great adventures all for free. We will be booking our next NCL cruise soon.....but not on the Epic. Read Less

I chose this cruise because my friend was going to come with me. It would be her first cruise ever and I thought Norwegian was a good starting point. I especially wanted her to see The Baths in Tortola. The cruise didn’t turn out even slightly like I imagined it would. You can look on YouTube for the many videos of the mess that happened on this ill fated cruise. It was awful. We not only missed all of our ports of call, we also missed the Latitudes parties and dinner with an officer. We were told that all of the officer staff was working on the engine problems. I’m sure the hotel manager was very helpful. The only good thing was that we got our cruise fare back as a future cruise credit. The main disappointment was that we were basically kept in the dark about what was happening. When the captain did come on over the intercom, you couldn’t understand anything he said. Luckily the cruise director would often reinterpret what he said into English. We had 3 separate times communicated to us about our arrival into Port Canaveral. People were crowding the reception area trying to change their flights home. It was ridiculous. Disembarkation was unorganized and hectic. The baggage claim area was a zoo. It was the worst ending to a sorry cruise. Read Less

He choose this trip for 2 reasons. 1 It was in the Eastern Caribbean 2 It had a cabin type 4j we had good weather, the food was good, but not great. the entertainment was ok. I liked the Sunshine better than the Dream or the Libertyonly thing that I did not know was the cabin was a handicap room until I paid my final payment. Because it did have a larger bathroom but it is not a good room to make into a king size bed. our room was 7103. most of the food seems bland, it is like they try too hard to make fancy food. It would be nice if they had some just plain food. besides burgers. The soft serve ice cream is bad. I have not found it to be good on any of the previous 5 cruises I have taken. Went on the Oasis with my BFF and had a great time! Our large ocean view balcony cabin was perfect for us! The headliner, Tony Tillman, gave a great performance! We dined at Giovanni's, Chops, and 150 Central Park, as well as ate in the MDR for MTD. All restaurants were excellent! My favorite would have to be 150CP for its mouth-watering beef tenderloin for two! Best meat I have ever tasted, and the very tasty small lobster tail was a nice surprise! My favorite hangout spots are Central Park, Boardwalk, Rising Tide bar, and the solarium! My two favorite classes are Oasis and Freedom, so much so, that my DH and I will be boarding Lady O again in just 2 short weeks!! Port Canaveral is also our favorite embarkation port, as we only live 2 hours away, and there are lots of parking options! Thanks RCCL for continued excellence!! P.S. I will hate seeing the DL on Deck 11 replaced by Wonderland and the DL either being eliminated or moved to the windowless Deck 4! It's just business (I guess). Even so, it won't stop us from cruising with RCCL. By SilkySal Read Less

Just returned from Oasis - Eastern route - after taking Western one year ago. This year's experience was even better than last year because of a much better dining experience. Last year, My Time Dining was a disappointment overall. This year we chose early dining and our server Vaibhav and asst Claire at table 564 in Grand DR were outstanding. The American Icon for breakfast and lunch was always impressive. Windjammer was chaotic at times but well managed. We even tried Johnny Rockets for a fun lunch but opted not to try other optional restaurants. Arrival at Port Canaveral was again the most organized port we've ever experienced - kudos to all the helpful staff there. We chose a Boardwalk balcony - 10329 and it proved to be spectacular- offering both views of the ocean along with the Aqua Theater events. Highly recommended especially if you like an aft view. Once again the entertainment was very enjoyable everywhere except we avoided Cats after being disappointed last year. This massive ship offers such a variety of acts and venues. Glad to see that smoking is being very restricted. Crazy ridiculous drink prices are very evident even with highly promoted packages. Nassau, St. Thomas and St. Maarten were good stops that still displayed the horrific hurricane damage from 2017. They're still trying to recover especially in St. Maarten. Disembarkation was organized considering well over 6000 pax. We opted to self-disembark. Overall a great experience despite such a large ship. Anxious to see what the Oasis two month refurb this fall will have to offer. Read Less

We have wanted to cruise on one of the Oasis class ships far some time and thankfully final did. What a great ship. Yes there are 6000 guests on board however with only one exception, we didn't experience any long lines. The exception of course was the windjammer buffet. They hold you up at the entrance so they can locate a seat for you which is a good idea. Other wise there would be tons of people bumping into one another trying to find a seat. Just too many people and totally unnecessary. We instead ate breakfast at the Central Park Cafe'. No lines quiet, enjoyable and the food was good. If you want to go to a buffet and load your plate to the ceiling with food you probably wont eat cause it's free, the Park cafe might not be for you. There is no charge, however there aren't 10,000 items to choose from. Specialty dining was simply awesome. I would highly recommend it. Main dining room was OK but we preferred the specialty restaurants. We found the solarium cafe' to be in between the main dining room and specialty restaurants as far as food quality. You will need to make reservations in advance but it is also free. Loved the shows. By the way, RESERVE YOUR SEATS FOR THE SHOWS prior to sailing. Drink prices have gone way up sense we last cruised on Royal three years ago. The drink package might be for you if you plan on drinking five or more drinks per day. Keep your eyes open prior to sailing for deals on the drink package. Day 5 they offered several drink deals. We took advantage of the 10 drinks for $79 card. After gratuity it was close to $100. You save around $35 bucks depending on what you are drinking. Only thing I don't like about RCCL is the day strip on the floor in the elevators. I don't want to be reminded every time I get in the elevator what day it is and how little time we have left. LOL Read Less

Embarkation was smooth and we boarded the ship very quickly. We parked at the port that also added to the convenience. Our first meal was as at the Seaside BBQ. The BBQ was very good (chicken, pork and beef). The BBQ beans were not good. There were 4 in our group and we were all in agreement about the beans. My wife and Ihave been on over 12 cruises each. We have become complacent with the food. Over the past several years the main dining entrees have remained the same. Therefore, we do not eat in the main dining room every evening. We did eat the first elegant night and the service was great. The staff always called us by our name and we're very friendly. The food was good, but the lobsters are small and slightly over cooked which causes them to be tough/chewy. I had the Maui Maui and the sea bass on the trip and both were very good. We also had the flat iron steak and it was tough. Our favorite meal is having breakfast in the Plush dining room. The food is much better than the Lido breakfast. The eggs are cooked to order and the French toast is delicious. Manfredo provided great service at breakfast. I did eat breakfast a few times on Lido. I few times I got a lump of uncooked goo in my scrambled eggs. I enjoyed the musical entertainment on the ship. Travis played in the Red Frog Pub and was very good. We also listened to Patrick in the Piano Bar. He puts a lot of energy in his show. However, it is definitely 18+. Maybe 24+. Please do not take the kids, adults only. The Variety Violins playing in the Atrium were also very good for an alternative style of music. We did spend some time on the Lido deck around the main pool. It was very crowded and difficult to find a chair. Carnival does not prevent people from saving chairs early in the morning and not showing up until 10:00 or later. We also went to the Serenity deck and it was nice but still difficult to find an open seat. The four of us did the Turtle Cove excursion in St. Thomas. It was a good trip and we saw a lot of turtles. There were not a lot of fish. I guess the turtles ate the fish. The crew on the boat provided great service and very customer friendly. We also went to San Juan, Ambor Cove and Grand Turk. I was disappointed in Grand Turk. The pictures on the internet are much nicer. The beach was over crowed and a little trashy. I saw cups, beer bottle, broken glass and horse poop on the beach. The beer at Margeritaville is over priced. $32.99 + 18% gratuity and 11% tax. The waiter made sure we new the price before being seated. I di not think it was possible for ship beer to be cheaper, but it was. The shopping area was very clean, but don't expect any bargains. Debarkation on the final day was great. We do the self assist. We are Platinum and we met in the dining room at 6:30 and we were getting off the ship at 7:00 and I was in my car by 7:30. Overall, we had a great trip. Carnival provides a great experience for the price. Read Less

Price was a deciding factor. We overall did not like this cruise at all. Inside staterooms are awful. No space to put things and lighting was very lacking. NCL has taken lobster, shrimp cocktails and escargot off the dining menu unless you go into a pay restaurant. Food selection in the buffet area was better than the main dining rooms. Never once did the main dining staff ever introduce themselves. You had to go through the smokey casino to get to the dining rooms. One night it smelled so bad that it triggered an asthma attack with one of friends and they missed the next 2 ports. The ship was very clean but configuration was not what we would call convenient. The entertainment was not easy to get into unless you reserved a spot and most were so crowded that it was standing room only. Only saw 1 show and had to stand for most of it. Our form of entertainment was in the atrium and it also lacked seating. We were asked to answer survey questions and voiced our concerns and no one ever got back with us. Ports of call were great...had a blast. Did not go to the private island. In Jamaica we went to Bamboo Beach VIP and had a blast. Food, entertainment, drinks and private beach (only 17 of us) was well worth $99 each as the alcohol was free flowing and potent. Very beautiful area and our tour guide Anne Marie was fantastic. We just got off a 10 day cruise on the Epic. Just thought I'd share a few things with the group..... We booked this cruise because of the ship (we had been on the Epic previously and love her!) and the length of the cruise......we had been to all the ports a couple times so we figured we'd get off if we felt like it, or not, so we felt no pressure to run around all over the place if we chose to just stay on the ship. I enjoyed that feeling of relaxation! Our cruise stopped at the usual suspects.....Jamaica, Grand Caymen, Belize, Cozumel, Costa Maya......we were supposed to stop at the NCL private Island (which we've been to before) but couldn't get in due to rough waters.....so we had an extra sea day which we enjoyed. Our favorite port was by far Costa Maya....they have an area for only cruise ships that was really done nicely, with shops, a pool, restaurants and bars, alot of activities and things to do and see. It was great! They had added so much since we had seen it a few years ago! Had a great time there! The best snorkeling I've ever experienced is in Cozumel.....we were told about a place called Money Beach our first trip there and have gone there every time since! It's a short cab ride from the pier and well worth it! Nice restaurant and bar, lounge chairs.....rent snorkeling gear for about $12 for the day and you're all set. Clearest water and the most fish I've ever seen!! Don't even get off the ship in Grand Caymen unless you just want to go to a beach or shop. Nothing much there IMO. Same goes for Jamaica, we got off to go to Margaritaville where we had some fun years ago, but it's really changed. Wouldn't go again, very run down, no fun, terrible service!! We're not fans of Belize either, but this time it was nice because they built a private Island which was nice, so we enjoyed it this time. Nice beach, pool with swim-up bar, shops, etc.......no comparison to Costa Maya but along the same lines. Now for the ship...... We are in the minority in that we never spend extra money to upgrade our cabin because it's just not worth it to us.....we are never in it but to shower, change and sleep!! So we keep our inside. We like to be up on the deck for breakfast, the pool, etc., we aren't they type to sit in our room by ourselves and look out at the ocean from our balcony, we like to be among the people! So my critic is for the inside cabin..... Don't listen to all the nay-sayers who complain about the set-up of the bath area.....it's no big deal! Yes, the shower, sink and toilet are all separated, but there's a curtain you can pull if you need to which only leaves the sink outside of it, but it worked fine for us. The toilet and shower also of course have their own doors, so who cares?! The room was probably the most spacious on any of the ships, the closet and drawer space was absolutely the best, and there is plenty of cabinet space for toiletries above the sink. If you can get by the unusual bath set-up, it's the best laid out room with the best closet and drawer space for everything we've had, and we've been on many NCL ships!! The food in the main dining rooms has come a long way from years ago. We were extremely impressed with everything we ordered in Taste and Manhattan Room. The buffet is average.....breakfast is breakfast and they had a good variety every morning, it's set up well in that there are quite a few "omelette stations" and they had eggs benedict every day so I was happy! Their breads are amazing, their bakery on all the NCL ships IMO is second to none. Lunch was ok, nothing special I will say for the lunch buffet but they have great chicken salad and they had a taco bar almost every day so that was cool! We ate in Le Bistro and Moderno this time with our two platinum free specialty dinners. Le Bistro wasn't as good as other ships IMO but Moderno was amazing! They have a fantastic soup/salad bar to die for!! My favorite part of the whole meal was the soup (Fiejoada)......unbelievable!! I couldn't wait to get back to that restaurant just for that. Make sure you try it!! Entertainment....the two main shows were not up to par with other ships IMO....but worth seeing......Burn the Floor and Priscilla Queen of the Desert. Both interesting but mediocre compared to some other newer ships.....we saw Rock of Ages and Oh What a Night and Blue Man Group on other cruises. Rock of Ages is far and away my favorite, I think it's still on the Breakaway. We love Howl at the Moon so we stopped in there every night they played. The comedian Rodney L. (forget his last name, sorry) was the best I've ever seen, don't miss him!! What else......the casino......not my favorite but large and spread out, not the best selection of slots IMO and way too smokey and smelly when you got near the smoking section. Some of the games I liked were in smoking so I did have to venture in there sometimes but it was horrible!!! All in all, the Epic is one of our favorite NCL ships......we aren't fans of the pool area on the Breakaway class ships.....the Epic has a large area of outdoor tables so you can have breakfast and lunch while at the pool without having to sit in that stupid corridor or inside like on those others. That's a big deal to us, so I would choose the Epic, the Dawn, and others over that Breakaway class all day long!! Read Less

Friends found deal. Long lines for dinner & shows. Nothing to be had with coffee on deck ( pastries, bagels etc.) before 7:30am. Every major event seemed to be routed through the casino. Smallest pools I've ever seen. Food was good, but not the lines. Service was excellent. Not enough entertainment choices for a 10 day cruise. Only place for any kind of food before 7:30 am was Irish bar on deck 6. Dark and not inviting for a early morning snack. Also, bar is in the middle of smoke smelling casino. Not interested. All in all I cannot recommend NCL with a clear conscience to friends, family, colleagues or anyone else that asks. I will say again, I'm completely turned off about "Freestyle" sailing. Back to the size of the pools. We've been on many ships, NCL Epic has the smallest pools weve ever experienced. We chose this cruise because we've never been on a 10-day and we wanted to see Harvest Cay in Belize. Harvest Cay was amazing to say the least. We didn't have one bad day of weather except for the last day at Sea with Gale force winds returning to FL. This was our 12th cruise with NCL and we were very disappointed with the Latitudes Members Group. No announcement of the cocktail party, & the Cruise Next deals are not as good as they have been in the past, so we didn't book another one. We thoroughly enjoyed and had great relationships with the Photography staff, especially Marco. Not too "salesy", and always too great pics of us! The buffet was great with a lot of variety at each meal. It would be nice if the pool deck food bars would open sooner for lunch on "At sea days" and close breakfast earlier. People were always waiting for lunch there. Read Less

I have always bragged to others about the quality and variety of food on the Carnival Menu and buffets. BUT on the Sunshine it was the worst food ever encountered on a cruise ship. Our food was cold, crusty, and dried. The salads were browned lettuce and soups were cold. The service was extremely slow and not acceptable at all. We are both diamond VIP members with Carnival. We have sailed on over two hundred cruises and most every cruise line. We understand that booking with different cruise lines you will experience different types of food, however, cold, tasteless, no quality food is unacceptable regardless of the cruise line. The Carnival product has greatly deteriorated and is not at all like previous Carnival cruises we have experienced on most every cruise ship in their fleet! We are very concerned that this ship does not follow ADA guidelines. It was one of the most unfriendly to handicapped passengers in wheelchairs and the guests were unwilling to share the elevators even though the US law states that wheelchair passengers have first priority in the elevator use. Fellow passengers are getting more and more antagonistic toward those who cannot walk and must use a wheelchair as well as the cruise ship staff! It is interesting to note that Carnival is changing the booking mechanism for handicapped cabins. They have gone from wheelchair cabins with roll in showers to calling the same exact cabin a "walker" cabin thereby eliminating the need to accommodate wheelchair guests. It is blatant discrimination. We will carefully review our choices for cruising this year and go back to cruise line whose product we can trust. Carnival product is no longer the same. Read Less

My husband and I just returned from a 13 day journeys cruise aboard the Sunshine. We typically have rain a good portion of our vacation and were pleasantly surprised to only have rain two half days. The ship itself is in great shape for its age. The crew went out of their way to make the cruise special. We visited 7 islands - St. Thomas, Aruba, Curacao, St. Marteen, St. Kitts, San Juan, and Amber Cove. We had been to all of these ports except Amber Cove. I turned platinum on this cruise and enjoyed all the perks - chocolate covered strawberries, a free blanket throw, 5 bags of free laundry, priority boarding and disembarkation, and a free drink. The shows on board were all pretty good. My husband and I enjoyed the comedy shows the most and averaged two shows most days. The Love & Marriage Show dragged on too long. It took almost 45 minutes to pick the contestants. We ate most dinners (10 of the 13 nights) in the main dining room with Any Time Dining. We never had to wait over 5 or 10 minutes for a table. Most nights we were in and out in about an hour and 15 minutes. We typically ate early (around 5:15). We only paid to eat one meal and that was at the sushi restaurant. Sushi for two with tip was around $25. We booked all excursions on our own. There were a few things that irritated me. Number 1 - the free drink. You have to get it either at breakfast or lunch and only in the main dining room. I went three times before I even found the dining room open during these times. One time breakfast was over and lunch hadn't started. Another time lunch was already over. ( I know it is free and you shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, but get real, it is a $9.50 drink!) Number 2 - No refrigerator. This is the first time I have ever cruised a big cruise line with no refrigerator. Number 3 - making you choose morning or evening service of your cabin. We chose morning but our steward still serviced it twice a day but you could tell he was overextended doing so. Shame on Carnival for putting him in this position. I think each steward services over 30 rooms. Number 4 - Disembarkation was a nightmare. It took us over two hours with priority and we just made our flight by 10 minutes and yes it was an afternoon flight. Overall, I will still sail on Carnival again but will give other cruise lines equal consideration. Read Less

We set out to have a relaxing cruise as we often do (17 to date). Norwegian Epic is a huge ship with 19 decks. The speaker system is loud everywhere and both had daily headaches from the noise. Most announcements could not be understood due to the loudness. We heard this complaint from several passengers. The ship layout is very odd. There are elevators and stairs at both ends of the ship but none in the middle so be prepared to walk a long way to go anywhere on another deck. We stood in lines for everything we did on board. Most times we could not get into entertainment in the Comedy Club and other small venues. This is a Freestyle cruise ship so that means reservations for everything. We went to the dining room to make reservations and were told that we did not need them and so we stood in a long line to enter then gave up and did what most did and ate upstairs at the Garden Cafe. We had a tender and had to have a reservation to board going and coming back to shore. The dining rooms are low ceilings so extremely loud and the average dinning time for our table was 2 hours with very slow service. The cabins are also strange with very little room in our balcony cabin. Two people can not pass each other anywhere in the room (12125). Overall I gave it a three-star rating because of the crew's helpfulness and the food was good. Too many people for me on this ship and freestyle cruising. Read Less

12 day and a couple of ports i've never been to. The cabins have the sink and tub in the cabin. There is a screen which we did not get till the fourth day. Tub water was boiling hot and not easy to control. There was no hot water in the sink till the last day. Checkin had a line that lasted 2 hours. There were lines all over the ship, for shows dining and just about anything. Show Priscilla was nothing more then a mediocre Drag Show. The other show Burn the Floor was a very good dance show. The best entertainment was the Beatles show. Specialty restaurants were just so so and if they weren't given in the package would have been grossly overpriced. Ports were why we went on this ship but 3 of the ports were NCL islands. Last time for NCL. Will stay on Princess from now on. Ship has 2 elevator banks, front and rear. None in the center. Poorly designed. Read Less

We chose the cruise via Travel email sent to us. The price seemed reasonable to us and taking a cruise on a cruise ship was on our bucket list. We were so delighted with the cruise although we cruised with 4,000 of our newest friends we always felt welcome by all the staff, especially our Cabin Stewart, Andrik Prasetyo, who was very personable and caring at all times of our comfort on board. The food was excellent at every restaurant on board. The NCL Epic allows one to choose which restaurant to dine at and is not a "cattle call" type of setting. Food and drink was available 24/7. The entertainment was top of the line! and a good variety was available during the cruise. The public areas (including the rest rooms were always spotless - a real feat considering there were 4,000 passengers onboard. We are retired and found the passengers where a span of age groups so we felt completely comfortable with all the venues we elected to attend while on board. We highly recommend Norwegian Cruise Lines. Read Less

Our third cruise, others were Carnival and most recently (before this on) Holland America. Cons: The epic is huge with 5000 passengers. Will go on a smaller (2500-2800) ship next time. For us just too big, too many people, everywhere was crowded and lots of emphasis on the casino, you couldn't get away from it. If I want to gamble, I'll go to Vegas. Stood in line for all shows, no real "drop in" nightclub or club where you could come in, hear/see some entertainment and come and go. The rooms were smaller than our other cruises, no table to enjoy breakfast coffee or an afternoon/evening drink, and my feet hung off the bed (only 6' tall). Closet hangers were right out of Motel 6. Halls were narrow and always filled with cleaning carts. No real public area for people to meet, have conversations, play cards, etc. so they did so in buffet dining seating area leaving diners to stand with their food. Upon inquiry, was told by crew they were told to leave alone, bad policy. Their private islands are an embarrassment, especially Stirrup Key. Would have preferred a real stop at a real port. Pros: The food was good in all venues and Cagney's Steak house was one of the best steaks we have ever had, rivals Ruth's Chris. Cabin service was friendly and attentive. Entertainment was good, especially Cirque and a group called D'Soul Duo. Overall a good experience and good value for the money, especially the open bar, internet and specialty dining perks. This was our 19th Cruise and Our second time with Norwegian Cruise Lines, our first was May of 2018 on the Getaway. The Getaway was a POSITIVE experience, NO Complaints whatsoever. The Food and Sevice Was perfect. The Epic however, was not so enjoyable. To be fair, our embarkation process even though 3 hours in length, but was NOT the fault of Norwegian but a result of bad guest disturbances on the previous cruise. Our main complaint was a badly designed Stateroom. The shower and toilet facilities were the first thing visible when entering the room, very inconvenient, and almost impossible for two people to get cleaned up and ready at the same time. The bed was situated on a curved wall and very short. Anyone over 5’5” would have their feet hanging off the end. Storage was adequate but placed in weird places. The food quality on the buffet was also “adequate” but not as good as the Getaway. The Formal dining at the “Taste” and “Manhattan” Dining rooms was very good. The stage show “Burn the Floor” was one of the best we’ve ever seen, but “Pricilla Queen of the Desert” was the most offensive and disgusting performance we had ever seen on ANY Cruise Line! Primarily because we had not seen the disclaimer prior to entering the venue. If it had been possible, we would have walked out less than 15 minutes into the performance. The disembarkation process was also very long. The area that ourl luggage had been placed in was very hard to locate and the lines were extremely long. That process took almost 2 hours. Perhaps they could find a way to shorten that aspect. Read Less
