We had never done a trans Atlantic and it won't be out last. Seas were calm and blue the entire trip. We chose this due to the many sea days and access to several unusual ports. A travel partner had relatives immigrate from Madeira and I have family to visit in Seville. Then add on Malaga, Cartagena, Palma, Barcelona and oops forgot Delgato! We had a marvelous lady give us advice about the history and how to see each port to our best advantage. Her chats were so popular they filled the Epic Theater and were broadcast in the Atrium and nearby bar. Staff from top to bottom, beginning to end, were all super friendly and excellent at their jobs. We had many activities to choose every day but mainly we relaxed, visited or people watched. Never were we prodded into participation. Problems in ports were never due to NCL but the number of ships being in small ports at one time. Hopefully limits will be set and held in the future. I left feeling like I had truly seen Spain aND been relaxing at a resort. Read Less

I agree with several others about what people expect from this cruise.....I just dont think ANY cruise is good for an infant or toddler. My husband and I are in our 60's and love Disney. This was our 1st 7 day cruise and I wish we could of just stayed on it for another week. We have also done 3 day cruises on the Dream. Top notch entertainment and the dining for us was also top notch..Cabanas was ok but still much better than anything on a Carnival Cruise..we had a verandah and so worth it...loved how much room we had in our room. I know we have only done 3 cruises with Disney but I can not find fault with any of them. On this last one our room was next to a family with 3 kids and a baby...the kids screamed and cried the whole time and it sounded like they were playing ball in the room with all the noise...I know kids will be kids, but please teach them to respect others..this is not Disney's fault...our waitstaff David and Marco were fantastic and our stateroom hostess was great too...I do agree concessions for the movies should come with the price. We have been on many cruises. First time on Royal Caribbean. Worse, boring, and not friendly Cruise ever!! No entertainment on the pool area deck. The DJ was terrible in the Viking Lodge ,stopped the music, and turned on all bright lights every time someone spilt a drop or dropped a drink. The centerium area of the boat was mostly dead and the bar was design were your back was to entertainment area. The ship was old and didn’t looked kept up. There were a few issues with the electronic part. Even the guy doing (employee) music trivia complained about the age and out dated equipment. Honestly felt like we were at a floating nursing home. If bingo is your thing, Royal Caribbean Cruise is for you. On a positive note, we did like that the drink package was unlimited and usable off the boat. CooCay was very nice and well kept. Pool was clean and service was decent. CooCay was definitely the best part of the whole trip. Never again! Carnival ships in the future. Read Less

Cuba and Key West ports from Port Canaveral. Very organized embarkation and disembarkation. Loved seeing Havana. We did our own tour witha private tour group and was very interesting and informative. Key West was great to see as well. We did the Trolley Tour through NCL to get an overview of the Key and then after, walked around on our own. We stayed in the Deck 6a cabins and was very quiet and sufficiently spacious and comfortable for 2 people with adequate storage. The staff were particularly attentive. Any issue was addressed immediately and with follow-up. They seemed to go above and beyond to make sure guests were enjoying their cruise. The open bar was great and there was plenty of staff available to serve. We have cruised Royal Carribean, Holland America and Celebrity and I would have to say that the service on the NCL SUN was outstanding. Nicely renovated ship too. The entertainment was also very good. Enjoyed the comedian and the big dance show, karaoke, as well as the numerous musical venues. Overall very pleased!! Read Less

This was so smooth you didn't even know you were in the water on a boat! We loved it. It wasn't too long of a trip. Just the right amount of time. If I were to go again I would go again on Norwegian. The price was low compared to other cruises. I wish we would have gone to their private island instead of the Bahamas. Next time we'll book a different location. We liked it because we didn't need to get dressed up to eat dinner if we didn't feel like it. We could eat any time we wanted to. We were waited on hand and foot even while relaxing in a lounge chair and the tips were added at the end of the trip. I'm sure we'll go again one day!! Read Less

Let me start by saying we are not fussy cruisers. My wife and I take most things in stride. If your looking for a brand new ship then cruise in a new ship. This one shows her age BUT....we had a great time. This was our 40th wedding anniversary and we were joined by my wife's twin sister and her husband doing their 38th anniversary (kids lol). We have cruised most ship from Oasis class down. We made diamond on our trip as well. Boarding was a breeze. We got to the port at 11:00am and were on the ship by 11:30. This was the fastest embark I've ever had. Then we had a nice lunch in the Windjammer and hit the pool and the hot tub before going back to our room for muster call. We ate at the included dinning only. The first night they wanted to split us up to 2 tables. They quickly straightened it out. While the menu is a bit repetitive we still found good food to try. The wait staff was truly outstanding. The vision class of ships have a great view from most public rooms. The smoke from the casino is very noticeable in near by rooms like Boleros. Being a non smoker this was a real downer. They need better ventilation in the casino. Finally a great shout out to Luni in guest services, Gener and Inyoman our wait staff and Martin in Windjammer. These and many others made this a great cruise for me! Read Less

We had been on a prior criuse with NCL to Bermuda. This was so much nicer with great staff and wonderful food. The cabin could have been a little bigger because the space between the bed and counter was very narrow. The balcony was big and had two chairs and a small table. No problem with the shower or toilet area. Really don't understand the people that complained about this. Entertainment was very professional and no problem getting a seat. The food was really good, we did choose the upgraded three dinner package. All the restaurants were top notch. The NCL tour was really good and the tour guide Roseanna was very informative about the history and the countryside. It was better than we expected. The smoking is now confined to a small area which makes for a better experience. The ,transportation to the ship and return was well run. Overall a really nice vacation. Read Less

After reading all the bad reviews of the Epic's February and March cruises, I was very apprehensive about my upcoming April 6 cruise. My worries were for naught. The cruise from Embarkation to Debarkation was very satisfying. Although the ship is huge, it didn't feel any more crowded than the smaller boats I've been on. Elevator wait times were not bad except when shows were finished. The wait for drinks at the bar wasn't bad, no more than 3-4 minutes at times. The specialty restaurants were excellent. The service was impeccable. Not only in the specialty restaurants but also in the free dining rooms. The food at Cagney's was very good, I had the lamb chops. The food and performance of the cook at Tepanyaki was excellent. The food at La Cucina was outstanding. There wasn't a dessert offering at Teppanyaki, I always ordered two appetizers since there was no additional charge. The food at the two free dining rooms was o.k., but the service was excellent. The entertainment was great. Broadway or West End equivalent. Pricilla Queen of the Dessert was not for kids.. It was up there with The Book of Mormon. Burn the Floor was fabulous and thats coming from one who i not crazy about dancing shows. I skipped the ports since I've been to them all before. Not a fan of most of the overpriced activities. Would go again on the Epic. Read Less

first Norwegian cruise ! choose the Epic for the studio rooms for solo travelers - the room is perfect for one person and the use of the studio lounge was nice = met a lot of nice people there as well as on the ship - the shows were great [as usual ] - my only complaint was that the food I ate at several restaurants was cold and had to be returned - this was at the Taste, Sheehans Pub & grill and the worst was at Stirrup Cays buffet - the hot dogs, and hamburgs were cold as well as the corn on the cob [also tough and not sweet ] - found the pools to be small for such a large ship !! also the food at Shanghais was also cold & sent back - I've been on 3 different cruise lines on 5 cruises and this was my first encounter with being served cold food - as I said I like the solo room and the price !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We like ships wth no more than 320O passengers. Have sailed various lines in the last 10 years. Decided to try a bigger ship. A mistake. Too many passengers and too many had complimentary drink package. So the ship, was full of too many drunks, mostly ages 35-55 who were loud, disruptive, particularly in dinner dining rooms. If you don’t have a reservation for dinner you will wait in a line. Couldn’t see a show because you needed a reservation and none available. Ship is a floating bar/casino. Our cabin (category B.B.) was in a good location considering there were only 2 elevators (forward and aft). Cabin design was the worst, many other passengers said the same thing. Entering the cabin the toilet was on one side, shower on the othe. Sink, medicine cabinet was at the foot of the bed. 2ft between foot of the bed and vanity area. Very poor lighting. We were always bumping into each other. Crew was really great and food was better than average. Will never sail this ship again or recommend it Read Less

We had fabulous weather. The ports were very nice and of course the crew were exceptional as always on a NCL ship. However, the ship is too large and too crowded to really give everyone the attention they deserve. Embarking was like herding cattle. Not like any haven embarkation I've ever seen. Especially since we are platinum latitudes level. Even though we had a haven suite we were unable to enjoy the haven pool area as it was so crowded and filled with children. The elevators were jam packed. The haven epic club restaurant was fabulous. Staff and food were excellent. In fact I would forego the specialty dining and just eat there if I had to do it over again. There are just way too many haven passengers to make you feel you are getting your money's worth for anything other than the restaurant. The concierge, David, never came to our room to introduce himself or check on our needs. If you visited him at his desk there were often long lines. However, his assistant, Lillian, was fabulous. I gave her the tip. Singh, our Butler was exceptional. He took care of everything we needed and was available anytime I needed something. I did not go to any show. Apparently with so many people you had to make reservations. And some were an extra charge. What is up with that??? Even the musicians and singers at the smaller bars were so crowded you couldn't get a seat. I like the ultimate beverage package but it seems that with so many people having this option the servers are no longer coming to take your drink orders. The lines are so long as a result. All in all I was not impressed and felt I did not get much value for the amount I spent on this cruise. Read Less

We had to cancel this cruise in 2018, due to an injury. So we were happy to be able to go on it this year and get to visit some islands we have missed in the past. We had a very quick check in and were on board withing 30 minutes of arriving at the port. Our debarkation was almost quicker. We were off the ship and on the way to I-95 in less than 45 minutes. In the past, we have waited hours, especially in Tampa. Great cruise, weather cooperated. We were in 9283 and had Dedy as our cabin steward. He was attentive, but not overly attentive. Our dining team was led by Gary. He was fantastic and made sure my gluten allergy was taken care of in the kitchen. We had our dinners in the Sapphire (lower level) and our breakfast in Blush (lower level). Lunch was mostly Guys Burger Joint and also Guys Pig and Anchor. Fairly decent BBQ, though I never saw any smokers going. So, wonder if it was done off the ship and reheated with sauce. We were entertained a lot by M J String Trio. A group of violinist and cellist out of Poland. Excellent trio. We purchased their two CDs and enjoyed them on the drive north. Will look for another Carnival cruise down the road, but have two more cruises coming up. One in Sept to New England and the other in 8/2020 to Alaska with the family. Read Less

This was my 15th cruise, 3rd with NCL. We chose this particular Spring Break cruise to join family with grandchildren. The shows we saw ("Priscella Queen of the Desert" & "Burn the Floor") were the best I've seen on a cruise ship. Loved them. Wish we had known to make reservations for Cirque Du Soleil as soon as we got on board, before muster call. We couldn't get into that one. The food was OK. The service in the restaurants and bar areas was really spotty. Sometimes we had good service but at several meals the waiters acted as if it were an inconvenience to take our order. A large number of guests seemed to have drink packages. I had to wait in line as much as 15 minutes at the bar to get a glass of wine. The food at the Brazilian style Moderno specialty restaurant was quite nice. The main reason for my 2 star review was the debarkation "process". We did the "easy!!!" self assist in order to meet our shuttle to Orlando International. So did everyone else. It was pure chaos with no organization. Everyone was confused and asking which deck to go to. It was not published anywhere in the handouts nor on the TV information channel. The crew we asked gave us different answers. We ended up lugging our suitcases downstairs (30 minutes prior to debarkation time estimate) since the elevators were packed in both directions. By the time the cruise director announced "Deck 7" for self assist the crowd was out of control. We were directed to one "line" that extended from the front of the ship to the back. The "line" went down the entire length of the ship, around the dining room, outside and then back up to the front of the ship. Another "line" went roughly from the back to the front of the ship. There were almost no crew there to organize the lines. We saw only 1 crew member at the front and 1 at the back of the ship. It was a complete free-for-all with passengers coming down the elevators jumping in front of irate passengers that had been queued up for 45 minutes. IT TOOK 1-1/2 HOURS JUST TO GET OFF THE SHIP. The delays were totally on board. Customs and immigration were not backed up. We tipped a porter and went straight thru. The debarkation experience ruined the trip. Read Less

Friends encouraged us to try Oasis. Despite what people say, this ship is very big and crowded! Lines for everything, disembarking at various ports , especially Nassau, was a disaster - essentially a mob scene - all that was missing were a few burning cars !! Service was good , but very impersonal. The staff was trying , but I sensed they were overwhelmed. Food was mediocre at best! On the plus side , the entertainment was excellent. It was a shame that half the audience left Cats at intermission. The cast was excellent . I guess the drink package was more important! Shore excursion in St Martin was excellent. We did the Royal food tour . Other excursions were very average. If you are traveling with children and don’t mind crowds and need lot of stimulation then Oasis is for you . While looking for cruises around our birthdays (my 75th) we found one that left on my wife's birthday and on my birthday. Carnival was the one. Left from Port Canaveral was the easiest embarkation we were on board in 15 minutes (priority boarding) went to lunch and checked suite out. Everything was ready. Rm 11221 spa suite. Large balcony , walk in closet , large bathroom. And access to spa . Main dining room -Sapphire was great longest wait 10 minutes on my time dining. Went on excursions at all ports and booked thru Carnival . Great guides and interesting info on country. Some good deals on larimar jewelry in Dom. Republic. Our Room Steward Sabina was almost telepathic first night asked for ice and got it in 10 minutes the next night we called again she said it was in the room already - it was and she checked to make sure. Towel animals were great. Only negative was long lines for some of the food venues.Disembarkation was chaotic used our priority status to get off in 20 minutes.Sure helped . Was a great cruise and not our first one. Looking forward to next one. Did see a lot of young children that were not being watched by parents. Surprised that they weren't more cautious even on a CLOSED environment As a retired Police Officer I felt that they needed closer supervision. We live only an hour from Port Canaveral.and go to the Cape for launches -can see them on clear days from our front yard. Did not go to see any entertainment preferred to watch new movies on tv and occasionally room service which if you choose correctly was included in cruise cost. Great snacks. Asked for cheese plates to go from supper and never refused. Wait staff knew what we had for beverages after first night ,called us by our names and had beverages waiting at table. Embarrassed both of us on birthdays by singing Happy Birthday along with other diners at dinner. Read Less

This cruise was set up for about 150 people by a travel agent who is a member of our fraternal order. It was a great deal, packaging everything into one price (cruise fare, port charges, beverage package and gratuities). Very convenient and a wonderfully great value. There is nothing better than a seven day cruise spent in only 2 ports plus their beach with the rest of the time floating on the sea. The ship was filled with endless activities to choose from, fantastic shows, comedy, entertainment and the largest casino we have seen on a cruise ship. The staff were all friendly and happy to serve us. This cruise was a sibling reunion - 5 brothers/sisters and spouses. We booked 5 oceanview rooms at the back of the boat, deck 2. It was wonderful to hear the hum of the engine as we slept and to see the wake, but be aware that when docking (and occasionally other times) there is a lot of engine noise. Our room steward (Silvana) was great! The rooms were clean and adequate. Walls and ceilings are magnetic, so bring magnetic clips! We sat at a large round table for dining and chose late dining (8:15). It was a bit later than we would have liked, but the early dining was too early. We loved our servers!! (Olga, I Madi and Widi). They made dining a highlight of the cruise. The food and selection was very good - much better than we expected! One comment (complaint actually) is that they have stopped putting tablecovers on except for formal nights, and the noise in the dining room is extreme - we couldn't talk to the people across the table from us! The entertainment was disappointing - not bad, per se, but lacking in variety and imagination. I'm not sure who they are catering to, but it didn't seem to be very popular with any group! Some cruises we have been on have had full broadway shows, cirque du soleil type acrobatics, professional ballroom dancers, music for all eras, lots of color and costumes, etc. The comedians were fine, the magician was okay - we never made it to the piano bar. The ship itself was clean and had nice amenities - fun mini golf and water slides and a nice outdoor theater, good hot tubs. The central atrium wasn't very exciting or beautiful. We had beautiful weather and wonderful stops, so all in all this was a great cruise. Read Less

This was the 25th cruise for both hubby and I, and our 4th NCL cruise in the last two years. We booked this cruise because we have been to most ports many times, but had never been to Tortola and Great Stirrup Cay. We flew into Orlando the night before and took an Uber to the port. (about $50) Because of a gangway issue, we waited in line for over 2 hours. It was cold and damp then started to rain. At one point there was no cover. We didn't seem to mind so much, but there were handicapped people with walkers and canes standing and waiting that long. NCL should have had someone out there in the lines to help those people. After finally getting on board, and still in good spirits, we found our room. This ship was built in France and the room layout was very strange. There was a ton of storage, but only one closet had hangers and they couldn't be moved. The room we had was equipped with a jacuzzi tub on one side, and a toilet on the other, both behind frosted glass. We didn't know our room would have a tub and you had to climb into it to shower. After knee replacements and a broken femur, this task was too difficult for me. We had to ask our room steward to get us a stool so I could maneuver in to shower. Having a glass door on the toilet area allowed NO privacy. We have been married for 47 yrs, but still need our privacy! The sink was tiny and in the room. The rest of the room was hard to walk around, very tight spaces. You get used to it after the week, but the layout is strange. On the 2nd day out, the engines trouble started and we sat dead in the water for over 2 hours. This was followed by canceling our ports and changing it to Puerto Rico, instead. We limped to Puerto Rico and got in to port in the late afternoon of day 3. Upon entering the port, we hit the gangways and standing on our balcony we watched them crash into the water. The new ship, EDGE was berthed next to us, and people on that ship cheered as we crashed our way in. ( You can watch this on YouTube.....we are actually standing on our balcony in the video). We stayed overnight in Puerto Rico and left the next day, hopefully with a repaired engine on our way to Great Stirrup Cay. Nope. The original 50% off a future cruise was now upped to 100% because now we were heading back to Port Canaveral...….and we would be 8 hours late. This didn't affect us that much, because our flight back to PHL was the following day. We only had to cancel a car rental and contact friends. Others were in a panic trying to cancel flights and get hotel rooms. NCL did offer $300 per person for flight change charges but the lines to use the phones were hours long. We also had the option of staying on board an extra night, but because of custom laws, everyone had to get off the ship, then come back on. Debarkation, although hectic, was smooth and considering the issues and crowds, not bad. Although this cruise had so many issues, we had a fun time. Everyone was so friendly and every time we got in the elevator there was chatter about what was going on. Many jokes and everyone had a story to tell when they got home. We met so many incredible people who were just going with the flow. Everyone was happy about the 100% future cruise credit and although we did hear that some people were unhappy, we never ran across those people. (They were probably down at Guest Services, complaining). We felt that we had a week of fun, sun, great food, and some great adventures all for free. I chose this cruise because my friend was going to come with me. It would be her first cruise ever and I thought Norwegian was a good starting point. I especially wanted her to see The Baths in Tortola. The cruise didn’t turn out even slightly like I imagined it would. You can look on YouTube for the many videos of the mess that happened on this ill fated cruise. It was awful. We not only missed all of our ports of call, we also missed the Latitudes parties and dinner with an officer. We were told that all of the officer staff was working on the engine problems. I’m sure the hotel manager was very helpful. The only good thing was that we got our cruise fare back as a future cruise credit. The main disappointment was that we were basically kept in the dark about what was happening. When the captain did come on over the intercom, you couldn’t understand anything he said. Luckily the cruise director would often reinterpret what he said into English. We had 3 separate times communicated to us about our arrival into Port Canaveral. People were crowding the reception area trying to change their flights home. It was ridiculous. Disembarkation was unorganized and hectic. The baggage claim area was a zoo. It was the worst ending to a sorry cruise. Read Less

I did not chose. My brother did and we went with him. He choose this trip for 2 reasons. 1 It was in the Eastern Caribbean 2 It had a cabin type 4j we had good weather, the food was good, but not great. the entertainment was ok. I liked the Sunshine better than the Dream or the Libertyonly thing that I did not know was the cabin was a handicap room until I paid my final payment. Because it did have a larger bathroom but it is not a good room to make into a king size bed. our room was 7103. most of the food seems bland, it is like they try too hard to make fancy food. It would be nice if they had some just plain food. besides burgers. The soft serve ice cream is bad. I have not found it to be good on any of the previous 5 cruises I have taken. I have traveled with 3 different cruise lines. Read Less

Went on the Oasis with my BFF and had a great time! Our large ocean view balcony cabin was perfect for us! The headliner, Tony Tillman, gave a great performance! We dined at Giovanni's, Chops, and 150 Central Park, as well as ate in the MDR for MTD. All restaurants were excellent! My favorite would have to be 150CP for its mouth-watering beef tenderloin for two! Best meat I have ever tasted, and the very tasty small lobster tail was a nice surprise! My favorite hangout spots are Central Park, Boardwalk, Rising Tide bar, and the solarium! My two favorite classes are Oasis and Freedom, so much so, that my DH and I will be boarding Lady O again in just 2 short weeks!! Port Canaveral is also our favorite embarkation port, as we only live 2 hours away, and there are lots of parking options! Thanks RCCL for continued excellence!! P.S. I will hate seeing the DL on Deck 11 replaced by Wonderland and the DL either being eliminated or moved to the windowless Deck 4! It's just business (I guess). Even so, it won't stop us from cruising with RCCL. By SilkySal Read Less
