Fun little ship!

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Norwegian Sun

This was my first cruise, so I didn’t know what to expect. Embarkation was a breeze and I enjoyed our inside cabin. It had plenty of space! Onboard service was OK. I was erroneously charged a cocktail in a restaurant. It took 3 trips to guest services and the restaurant to get it reversed. They still didn’t reverse the entire charge, but I was done asking about it. Otherwise the service was ...

Poor service on the Sun

The ship is pretty small, but I actually enjoyed that. It allowed for closer friendships. However, I found the service very poor. I was routinely ignored at the bars and the sports bar, there’s no towel animals, the ship lost a bag and sent guests a note asking guests to look for it, activities routinely started late. Just a really poor experience when you’re paying so much. The buffet is in a ...

On Deck 6 & 12 there are many, many inaugural port plaques on the wall. An impressive display that says this ship has-been-there-done-that. Built in 2001 it's age shows here and there but the 2018 refurbishment has definately invigorated the beauty, comfort and cruising experience aboard this ship...As veteran cruisers we've come to anticipate and expect bells & whistles, spacious contemporary ...

Nice getaway on a smaller ship

I'm writing from the point of view of someone that has cruised with Disney a few times and loved it (but it was too expensive) and did quite a few Carnival cruises (cheap, but inconsistent quality). We had heard that Norwegian fits somewhere in between these 2 options, and based on our first NCL experience on the Sun, we agree. While the entertainment and service are no where near Disney Cruise ...

Excited To Go Home

We chose this cruise as a quick and cheap getaway to recover from the holidays and to regroup after the passing of my dad two days before Christmas. I had two good books and just wanted to relax and forget about reality for five nights. Plus, it was cheap. $1,100 for a balcony for two. We had sailed on this ship in April 2019 and had fun. We were allowed to board at noon, but got to the port ...

Exeeded our Expectations

Port Canaveral is an easy enough drive and we were ready for little winter get away. We sailed on the Sun previously. Great experience began with the gentlemen who checked us in. Kudos to the Management of the Sun, as of our interactions with the all if the service personnel on the ship was positive. Our Steward, pronounced Yo Man could not have been better. Embarking and Disembarking ...

Good budget cruise

First let me tell you the best part of this cruise; the price. 5 out of 5 I found a super deal on an inside room. $149 pp for a 5 day cruise is crazy. I did bid on an upgrade but it was not accepted. Entertainment 3 out of 5. The comedian was horrible, just not funny at all. The games were good and they forewarned about potential adult content when present. The Singers/Dancers were ...

Great cruise on an NCL small ship

We are frequent cruisers but had not cruised on NCL for 10 years. This cruise on the Sun was a very pleasant surprise. The ship is in great shape - all the money spent in renovations during dry dock really shows! The food was very good in all the venues we tried. The food and service was excellent in the Seven Seas MDR. Norwegian is a much more relaxed "freestyle" experience and we enjoyed ...

The worst food and service, ever! Freestyle = NO style

Took an NCL Western Caribbean cruise last year and wanted to share experience with family...what a mistake!! The food presentation was good but taste was very low quality. The desserts were the worst! Even the breakfast pancakes were clearly packaged and not fresh. Looooong waits between courses, 2 hrs+ for dinner. We chose dining rooms because it was the best of the worst. We did complain to ...

This was our first cruise and we had a fantastic time. The food was delicious and plenteous. The cabin was spacious and clean with lots of storage and our cabin steward Mike DeLara was exemplary! Our adult children stayed down the hall from us and loved their experience, as well. The restaurants we ate at were exceptional and we had a server named Nelson Messina who was especially ...
