This was our first cruise as a couple after 20 years or so cruising with family. We took our first RCCL cruise back in 1997 and have taken around 25 cruises in that time, around half of them with RCCL. It is sad to see how far this line is prepared to go, to erode the cruise experience totally. I'm sure those relatively new to cruising won’t know any different and so don’t know what they missed. First the good. The ship is a physical masterpiece and a tremendous feat of engineering (I work in the ship building business). Despite its size it was very crowded. Embarking and leaving the ship was exceptional with both taking less than 10 minutes. Airports could learn a thing or two here. The not so good. We had a boardwalk balcony (since all sea view balconies had sold when we booked). The balcony was fine, but we would not choose this type again for a couple of reasons. First, there is little privacy and secondly, there is a lot of noise. In our room, the air conditioning was not working and only really got sorted at the end of day 2. For interest, there were quite a few portable conditioners around the ship so perhaps ours was not an isolated incident. We had “my time” dining using the American Icon dining room. It might as well have been called “no time” dining, since there were no times available to book! On the first night, we queued for 30 minutes and once we were allocated a table, waited another 30 minutes to have our existence acknowledged. The food was bland and cold when finally delivered. We checked the menu for the rest of the week to see that it barely changed day-to-day. Under duress we purchased a dining package ($600+]. Here is where we feel RCCL have changed for the worst; the “extra-fee” restaurants are rather good, but basically offer no more than what used to be offered in the main dining room only a few years ago for no more than the cruise fare. We find it ironic that the line describe the eateries (main dining rooms, windjammer etc) as free dining....hmm, I think we have already spent a few $000’s of dollars for the pleasure! Unfortunately, eating in the main dining rooms, is no longer an “event”...unless you think a trip to Denny’s is an event. No disrespect to Denny’s as in fact we had a better meal on our way home there! Whilst we purchased the dining package, it didn’t stop the constant hard sell to buy it (for the first 4 days of the cruise), or to buy a beverage package, spa treatments or to buy a $35 kitchen tour etc. The whole constant up sell is tiresome and intimidating. Just another note, getting anything to eat after 9:00 PM is limited to pizza as even the windjammer is closed by then. Whilst having dinner in the main dining room on the first night, we noticed that the imminent Grease show had been cancelled and moved to day 7. (Coinciding with our dinner reservation on that day). On the second night, the Aqua show was cancelled, then on the fourth night, the skating show suffered the same fate. Ultimately all of the shows were squeezed into the last day. Grease was very good, as was 1887. The headliner show was an acquired taste (not ours) and Columbus we felt was rather poor. Unfortunately due to constant rescheduling we couldn’t see many of the other events as they were showing simultaneously. I’m not sure we will choose RCCL again simply because you can get an identical experience for much less money on lines like Costa and MSC, where the price paid = expectations. RCCL still charge premium prices for an ordinary experience and then have turned the up-sell into the reason for you to be onboard. They are prepared to spoil the experience to chase the last dollar. Just got off the ship...great job Royal Caribbean!! My family and I had the best time. The staff members are so friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend cruising on this ship. The food is amazing. Kudos to the waiters & everyone that works in the kitchen. After you eat too much you can head over to the gym and work it all off. The gym was very nice and clean. If you’re able to get up early I recommend going as the sunrises. It’s located high enough up to where you can get an amazing view. There’s so much to see you almost forget how hard ur working after all those food and drinks, haha. For anyone interested in art make sure you save up some extra money for that, because you’re definitely going to see a few pieces you will want to take home with you!! Whether you just want to relax by the pool or you’re interested in the activities they’re is something for everyone! I will definitely cruise with Royal Caribbean again! Read Less

I got off the Norwegian Sun today after a 4 day cruise to the Bahamas with my mom. Are you ready for this tale? After boarding on the first day, nothing was open and the rooms weren't ready. When we went to the room, we were given a single bed even though we booked a double beds. We feared my mother's luggage was lost, since it was several hours without it at the room. I spoke with another guest who said that his luggage was put on the wrong ship. We tried to call our room attendant "Brianna", but the number was a busy signal. We called Guest Services, but the number was also busy. The luggage finally arrived around 9 PM while we were eating what tasted like frozen food or bad airplane food in the main dining hall. We then met our real room attendant who explained that the number didn't work because "she went home today on vacation." Not sure why they couldn't replace the card with the correct attendant's name and number? Shortly after eating/drinking on the ship, we would get horrible cramps. We did not know the cause until after looking up the symptoms on the internet today (the cruise charged $35 per device each day for WiFi) that we had contracted THE NOROVIRUS! Why did we contract the Norovirus? "Washy Washy" was not everywhere on the ship and we watched the workers clean the tables without gloves and without disinfectant. The ship was dirty and we saw crumbs on the floor and on the tables everywhere. The tables were cleaned with wet rags and food everywhere was not bussed. So much so, that seagulls would have feasts on the deck outside on the questionable food no one seemed to enjoy. Comfortable sleep did not happen because we didn't have working AC the entire trip. We called maintenance the first night to fix the AC, but there still was no cold air circulating in our room. We would feel cold air while passing other guests' rooms and in other parts of the ship. The repair man explained that the coldest our room was allowed to get is 73 degrees and the ship utilizes "chilled recycled ocean water." However, 73 degrees would have been tolerable unlike the 80 degree room that we had. We were sweating laying on top of the covers every night tossing and turning. Everytime we reached out to Guest Services, a person who could not understand English very well would get confused and tell us everything was fine. To make matters worse, our toliet would not flush and the sink constantly made a loud gurgling sound. The toliet was fixed a total of 4 times and the AC was "fixed" about the same amount if not more. The bathroom smelled of rank sewage, so we had to constantly spray hair spray in there to not gag every time we had to enter. The shower was also repaired twice, since only scalding hot water came out. We spoke with 4 other guests that claimed their room FLOODED! The toliet and shower eventually worked on the last day of the trip, but the AC never worked. We are leaving the trip completely exausted (and sick). The entertainment on the ship was beyond cheesy and usually involved the ship begging for more money. The ship's shops were desperate money grabs, much like the $5.50 bottle of Aquafina placed in our room to "tempt" us. The food was subpar and every meal oredered was taking a chance. During one dinner, I ordered French Onion soup because I thought how can you mess that up? Much to my suprise, that was bad too. The soup tasted like only beef stock and had no flavors of onion, salt, or bouillon. The ship also kept trying to pass off certain foods as gourmet. For example, one appetizer on the menu was "cream cheese and crab stuffed wonton with a sweet chilli sauce". Isn't that called, "crab rangoon"? We noticed a lot of interesting menu items that we believed to be recycled leftovers from other meals like adding bacon to sauerkraut. We picked snorkeling/beach day for our excursion in Freeport, Bahamas which came be to around $150. When we arrived to get on the bus for the excursion, we were informed that the snorkeling was canceled due to weather. The ship did not inform us earlier of this and instead loaded up a tour bus full of guests whom we suspect were charged the full amount for a 15 minute shuttle to the beach. Instead, we went back to the ship and asked for a refund. We then caught a taxi which only came to $14 for both of us. The White Party/Glow Party was held from 10:30 PM-12:00 AM the night before a port of call was 7 AM. The party took place by the pool deck and it was raining. The workers were squeegeeing the deck and the DJ was trying to get the crowd to come out from hiding from the rain. After the rain stopped, the crowd came out to dance and consisted mainly of small children. The DJ played EDM music for a bit, then switched to explicit rap much to the horror of the parents in attendance. They had a twerk contest on the stage and parents were taking their children to leave. A woman with a see through dress and a thong on got in the splits and began dancing like a stripper on the stage for everyone to see, kids and adults alike. There were other people on stage dancing that kept it clean, but she had to be pulled off stage because she was showing her buttcrack/vagina. There looked to be children watching as young as 5-12 years old. The DJ was blasting Cardi B songs and asked the crowd of kids to sing along to the explicitly laced lyrics. I left after that, since I had no interest in twerking around little kids. Small things such as crew members not knowing guests' names, no towel animals, and no drinks being served by the beach chairs were also a disappointment. We cruised with NCL in 2015 and had a fantastic time, so we suspect there must have been a restructuring within management. The cruise reaked of budget cuts and corporate greed. We suspect that the workers were paid very little and we were told that they rarely get to go home to their families in their home countries. Sorry if this was too much to read, but I did not want to spare any of the details. I posted this on NCL's Facebook page, but it was taken down by the moderators (suprise). Read Less

I will start out with the positive... getting onto the ship was a breeze. The last time we sailed from NY it was a complete disaster so I was super pleased with the level of professionalism and efficiency from all involved. Walking into the ship it was clean, inviting and exciting. As always we made a quick dash to get band for the “vibe” or on this ship “posh” Our very first cruise was I. This ship so I was excited to sail on it again. We were able to get to our stateroom very quickly and bags arrived in a fairly timely manner. Upon meeting our cabin steward he was one of the best we have ever had. Not the least bit overbearing and always did a phenomenal job. We had booked 2 special days for our parents for their anniversary and my mother’s birthday. He excited both with precision and detail which we so greatly appreciated. When we were settled my family and I all decided to check out the posh as we like to spend a good chunk of our time there. From the get go there was not a good vibe up there, pun intended. Normally the staff is always happy smiling and knew our names by the second day. This was not the case with posh. We get this “upgrade” so we always have a place to go for some quiet and that extra special service. The space was loud because of its close proximity to the main pool deck. We were brought water only once and never offered a cocktail or fruit plate. Each time We wanted a refill on water or a cocktail we would have to get up and go to the bar and order and retrieve it ourselves. While not the end of the world I found myself questioning why we paid extra for essentially nothing. On top of that the staff was not friendly there. I was highly disappointed and decided to spend my time elsewhere. Waiting at all bars was almost unbearable but I do understand that there are only so many bartenders and many guests in the ship. When checking into Le Bistro we were again met with an unfriendly face. The hostess did not seem accommodating or kind at all. When dining we decided to indulge in a bottle of wine not included in our package. The sommelier was one the most knowledgeable and kind we have ever met. He absolutely made our experience at Le Bistro much better. Without him the meal would have been sub par. The dealers in the casino were great fun. I found myself looking for the same ones day and night as they made the experience of losing money a little but better with their humor and small talk. I decided one night to use the salon for a blowout. I scheduled the appointment for 730 so I would have enough time to get ready before dinner. After waiting 20 minutes after checking in I approached the front desk to see what the deal was. I was met with “oh no one came for you yet?” After attempting to reschedule for the next day, the stylist irina appeared. From my understanding of my talk with both the front desk and Irina, I was double booked with another haircut she was performing before me. I once again did not feel like I was a priority in the least bit. She styled my hair and I was able to make dinner by the skin of my teeth. I must say that experience was extremely disappointing to me. Bar service in the casino was also extremely lack luster, however the male and female bartenders at the casino bar were beyond kind and committed my name and drink order to memory. Priscilla queen of the desert was a highlight of the cruise. The cast was PHENOMENAL. We were lucky enough to meet some of the cast and they were so kind. As regular cruiser we look forward to meeting other LGBT friends at the Friends Of Dorothy gathering. The name change of the meeting is not my favorite. The location for the meeting this cruise was not the most desired spot, we much preferred it when it was held at shakers. One of the most disappointing things to happen was at great stirrup cay. One of the main reasons I went on this cruise was to swim with the pigs. I understand that the tide is beyond NCLs control but a warning of such might have been nice before we went to check In. The Epics layout overall is not my favorite and I’m happy to see that other ships have not been modeled after it. Overall the cruise was ok, nothing to write home about. As loyal NCL cruisers we will return as guests but I think we may explore other lines after the lack of customer service. Read Less

Just got back from a 7 day Western Caribbean cruise aboard the Epic out of Port Canaveral, Florida. Here are my thoughts on the vacation. -UBP. Got the Ultimate Beverage Package for the week. Was totally worth it. Great selection of spirits, beer, and wine. The standard wine was excellent and was my drink of choice during the day. Totally saved us money. It was also nice not worrying about a tab at the end. Plenty of bartenders and really didnt have to wait in line for a drink. Best perk is that drinks are included on the private island. Very nice touch and adds the feeling that you are at an all inclusive resort for the day. Bartenders even remembered my drinks. -Food. Excellent food. My favorite was the steak house, French restaurant, and the Chinese. Chinese is included and not a specialty restaurant, bonus. Buffet has everything and very tasteful. Also, did room service which was great and offered pizza. Yum. Staff was very attentive and kept the food always stocked and very happy to help in anyway. -Entertainment: Broadway quality on the shows, make sure you take advantage and attend. You wont be disappointed. Nightclub Bliss was great for dancing. Also, during the cruise we watched the Super Bowl at H20 on the massive screen. Very cool experience. Plus they had a tailgating buffet of all the football food that you expected. Really a great way to watch the big game. Spa is massive and totally worth the pass price. Great place to relax after a long day on shore. Staff: Best part of the boat. Great staff that are always in a good mode and friendly. The hotel director, Nelson is great guy and very approachable. You see him everywhere around the ship. Our room attendant did a great job and kept our cabin cleaned and stocked all the time. Bottom line, this is one of the best cruises I've been on and I have tried them all. Great cruise of just about anyone. Singles, Couples, Families, etc. Will be back for sure. Read Less

NCL always treat us well and are so nice. On this cruise, for us, it was all about the best band on this ship...4-Blue!! We never missed a night listening to them!! We watch them on YouTube at home since we miss them!! One downfall was when they got to play on deck one night but they only played for 1 hour! We, the great crowd of an audience wanted MORE of them, but they weren’t given permission to play longer.....the biggest mistake of the night! THE ONLY other thing we are not fond of are the design of the rooms. But we both agree this was one of our BEST trips ever! Big ship with lots to do! Stage shows were great also!! We are not a fan of having to make a reservation for some of them, but that’s how it is on this ship! The water slides are AWESOME....especially the toilet bowl one!!! Highly recommend Teppanyaki for dinner... it’s a WOW!!!!!! It’s a must!!! Bliss the nightclub was unpleasant the night we went....6 of us. We didn’t stay long. I pray they aren’t all like that on other ships. We enjoyed the pool areas a lot, and we enjoyed the couple, man and woman who sang onboard deck, but the raggae band wasn’t that great. In fact, I wanted to go elsewhere when they played. All other bands were really good!!!! We relaxed at the Martini bar at times....and the Beatles Band was VERY GOOD also!!! We’d take this same cruise on this same ship again anytime!!! Loved it!!! Read Less

Embarkation It was smooth and we got on the ship quickly. Ship This is second time we have been on the Epic. It is a poorly designed ship with weird bathroom set up and no middle elevators but the price was right. The Disney Fantasy follow us through out the cruise and it was 3-4 k more expensive. We enjoyed Deal or No Deal and Bingo. We also enjoyed Burn the Floor. We would have like to seen Priscilla but was not suitable for our 10 year old, it would have been helpful to this information on the NCL website. We would have liked to seen more children friendly entertainment especially over the Christmas/ New Years break when there are lots of children. We ate at the Garden Cafe, I would have liked to see sushi, better tasting Chinese and Indian food but it general most of the food was very good. I would have like to seen better labeling of the food. We ate at Taste and Manhattan both were good. Manhattan was slow on New Years Eve. The cabin was fine and Francis our cabin steward was great. We had a hard time finding lounge chair. One guy was very rude and would not let me sit on a lounge chair. Andre the cruise director was good we saw he around and he said hello to the kids at the kids club. At Garden Cafe Pushcard (sp) was very nice. Information session with Jake. My daughter and I went to the information session with Jake. We were promised a free set of earring afterward. We only got a coupon to pick up at Diamonds International. The DI at BVI did not have them. The DI at St. Thomas did not have them. We had to go to downtown St. Thomas to get them. It was very misleading advertising and shame on NCL. Splash Academy My daughter was happy with all kids of the ship and she met a lot of kids. The activities were ok, she enjoyed going to the teen club. In general the staff were lacking and made some strange comments and did babyish games. The kids club was better of RCCL and Celebrity. Ports We enjoyed all the Ports. We went to Cane Garden Bay beach which was great. If you want to take a shower afterwards bring a quarter. At GSC, bring your own water shoes the beach is rocky and snorkeling equipment. The snorkeling was good and food at the buffet on the beach was good also. Disembarkation Was a little slow, it took about 45 minutes. Using a porter, we cleared customs faster. Read Less

I compare this cruise to past adventures on Royal Caribbean, Norwegian and MSC which we love. I blocked out any negative reviews regarding Carnival and ended up loving this cruise. Here is the real lowdown on the Carnival Sunshine. Let’s start with the things I loved. CABIN-The location of our spa room 11030 was amazing. It was steps from the waterfall and the all adults serenity deck. The size of the room was perfect and had down to the water views from the balcony .Access to the spa relaxation room and steam rooms made this room category a great choice. Make sure that you book high floors on this ship. I will explain later. Our very friendly room steward, Dhimas stocked our room with all of the beverages and items we ordered prior to the trip. He also kept the ice flowing. Loved him. He kept that room clean and ready for us. We had no trouble getting around the ship once we found out that you can walk the entire length of the ship on deck 5. That allowed us to always find elevators to our cabin on the 11th floor. FOOD-While the buffet is small and nothing to write home about when compared to other ships we’ve sailed, Carnival offers additional restaurants for breakfast and lunch like Guy’s Fieri’s Burgers and the taco/burrito Blue Iguana Cantina spots as well as the Asian/Italian , MDR and pizza area of the buffet. We never made it to Bonsai sushi which we know would have been great. The food was simply awesome! The specialty JiJi’s Asian and the Cucina Del Capitano were terrific. I am still dreaming about lamb chops and short ribs and a NY strip that was so tender. I am also still craving that rose crème brulet and the melting chocolate cake with the ice cream. The waiters and waitresses dance and sing at dinner every night. That is wayyyy beyond the call of duty but neat to see. If you sail this ship please note all options for breakfast on your hub app. Walk through the very limited main buffet to JiJi’s Asian and the Cucina Del Capitano Italian in the AM to get to wonderful omelette stations. They also open for free lunch also. Most don’t know that they are there for breakfast and lunch. Also try the breakfast burritos and tacos at Blue Iguana Cantina on the deck and there is also a small breakfast served on deck five near the coffee shop. And those Guy Fieri burgers and fries are amazing. We never tried the steakhouse but loved the steak in the main dining room at no extra charge. FRIENDLY PEOPLE-. We made a ton of friends on this cruise. The passengers were comfortable, having fun and willing to share with you unlike other cruises. Mikey the Cruise Director is worth mentioning. I have never met the Director on any ship except this one. He made sure that he reached out , shook our hands and checked on us. We don’t where he gets soooo much energy but we hope they are paying him well! He kept the fun going on this ship. PORTS-We visited Grand Turk, Puerto Rico, St. Maarten and St. Kitts. Getting on and off the ship was fast and problem free. No tenders! Yeah! We loved our ports. St. Kitts requires an excursion. It can be a sketchy port beyond the shops. That turned into a relaxing day back on the ship. All the others were enjoyable with no booked excursions. Grand Turk and St. Maarten have great beaches right off of the ship. We found a beach in Puerto Rico that we walked to near the Fort. So now for the things that certainly didn’t kill our trip but were in our opinion, areas for improvement. We also heard other passengers complain about these particular areas which make them worth mentioning. POOR CONNECTIVITY-Internet is horrible and nonexistent on this ship. I repeat nonexistent! No one is in the fifth floor internet café because there really isn’t available internet with a plan or not .I paid for a plan as well as my husband. It never worked on my Apple 8. He seemed to have text capabilities and facetime on his Apple 7 plus. I asked for a full refund for my portion and received one. We had to search for internet in the ports to post pics etc. You really have to disconnect from the world on this ship. The Carnival HUB app was helpful and provided activity information in a flash with or without the internet plan. That app seemed to be the only thing that worked on my phone. Royal Caribbean has the best internet hands down. Business travelers would be in trouble on this ship. BAD SMELLS AT TIMES-We smelled sewage with deodorizer smells on the 5th floor on down to 3rd which is unfortunate because the dining room is on those floors. We weren’t sure if they were from bathrooms or some other area. I used the ladies bathroom near the MDR and didn’t smell it in there so the source was something else. They must resolve that issue. That’s not appetizing when you are headed for dinner on the same floor and I couldn’t stay in a room with that. Some guests had that issue. Booking a high floor gets you away from this issue. Some also complained about old urine smells near the toilet in cabin bathrooms. We experienced that too. I believe that this is due to the age of this ship. I usually Lysol clean the bathroom anyway when I arrive. Yes, the casino was smokey but aren’t they all? I wish they could vent it somehow or ban smoking there. I still managed to play slots and enjoy that area. PIXELS PHOTO GALLERY- The picture Pixels gallery was confusing. We never found some pics. They throw up pics in no real order and you must search for your faces through hundreds of photos. Who has hours to do that? Norwegian has solved that issue by computerizing the photos and grouping them by room number. They take your picture and attach it to your room number. You can see them all on a screen with no major hunt. We bought no pictures on this ship. It was too frustrating to find them all. ENTERTAINMENT-Entertainment was so-so! Djs on the Lido deck were good. I cracked up at the sailaway party. They had it but we were delayed in sailing away so it kinda fell flat this time. I know Carnival is known for its sailaway parties but the delay wasn’t their fault. I enjoyed the 70s Dance show and the Killer Beaz comedian. Other comedians were weak. We aren’t into audience participation shows and they were really into that. Motown show was messed up with the performers sitting on stools singing with bottles of water. They said a performer was ill and missing. The crew was talented but that was a weaker show. Other cruises have big themed costumed stage shows. The magician was weak too yet was interested in hawking his instructional dvds at the end of the show. Lounge bands were average. The shows kept us busy I suppose. Movies on the deck were more enjoyable or reading on my balcony. DÉCOR- This ship was built in 1996 and was refurbished in 2013. A lot of the neat restaurants were added at that time. The ship décor seemed 80ish to me and reminded me of an old Atlantic City or Vegas Casino .It is an older ship. They have done their best to keep her going. I prefer newer ships but the décor didn’t kill my cruise. It was ok. There was some rocking of the ship during our return due to rough surf. It was nothing serious and there were no signs of mechanical issues that some were still talking about from the listing incident some weeks ago. OVERALL IMPRESSION-The positives outweighed the negatives on this ship. We truly enjoyed our cruise , the spa amenities of the spa room category and the many ports. The food alone and great service would entice us to rebook on one of their newer ships. Carnival will definitely see us again. Read Less

First, This is a big boat. But it's mostly storage for all of the passengers. There are not enough amenities to host all of the passengers comfortably. Many times we found we had to wait in lines to be seated for food, for soda machines, ice cream machines, and (most annoyingly) elevators (all the time). We chose this cruise because it was a 'DreamWorks' cruise. We thought it would be like Disney with characters going around. Not so much. In fact, hardly at all. Over 7 days, we saw 4 characters. There were long lines for photos with the crew yelling at people to "get in line!" Not so much for the ambiance. For the kids - our children hated their child center on the 14th floor. Our 9-year old described activities more appropriate for 5 or 6-year-olds and requested to not return after 1 visit. Our 7 year old only went there twice and then didn't want to return. Total disappointment. The staff kept them in 1 room running around playing games for hours. It was like a big kid pre-school. The staff seemed totally totally disinterested. Our child literally said, "I hate this place" right in front of them and they didn't even acknowledge or ask the child why. The housekeeper constantly pressed us on our schedule for the day. We would tell her that we were not sure but we would leave the sign out when were we gone. She seemed annoyed and it became very uncomfortable after several days. We really love to hit the spa (steam rooms, etc.) on the ship. These were tiny rooms. Again, unless you hit the rooms on off-hours, they were very crowded. The staff, who had to open the thermal rooms, often seemed annoyed by having to do their job. The showers were cold and there was no privacy for changing. It was terrible. Did we mention that everything was very crowded? The pools on deck 15 are tiny and filled to capacity except on excursion days. The pools were falling apart. The hot tubs in the family areas were always packed. The ice cream machines were messy and not kept up. You can sign up for various drink packages but the soda machines are not plentiful on the ship. (Floor 5, 15, & 16). They were often out of order, no ice, and the drinks tasted like watered down soda water. You can ask at various bars for soda but the bartenders often seemed annoyed. Overall, not good. Dining - The food was quite good on the first day. However, as the cruise progressed, it became clear that the cooks were recycling left-overs and just changing the food a little bit to make a different dish. Needless to say, it got stale and gross pretty quick. The main restaurant poses as a fine dining establishment. Yet, they blare announcements, loud music, and have the audience "give it up!" for the entire cook/wait staff every night - they would go on and on for 10 or 15 minutes per interruption. We were interrupted during multiple conversations with the family. It totally interrupted nice meals and is very disruptive. Lines and crowding - please be advised that you should make reservations for most things on the cruise well in advance. Expect to stand in line and wait a lot. Again, the boat is bigger but the amenities are really not. The cruise as a whole is constantly trying to get you to spend more money. The experience felt like one upsell after another. The customer service was poor. We felt like they just wanted to process us to get to the next customer. Many seemed nice but quite a few were annoyed at having to help us. Finally, getting off this cruise is hell. Everyone is thrown into a huge warehouse and we had to all be processed through customs. It was so disorganized and stressful. Terrible, terrible experience. We were told that our 'disembark time' was 10:45 AM, then the room attendant told us (that morning) that we were supposed to have been out by 9:00 AM. There was nothing in the documentation saying that!! If you like spending your vacation at a hugely overcrowded, sticky, broken mall, then this cruise is for you. Read Less

This cruise was basically the third change we had to make to our vacation plans thanks to work schedule. We originally booked our cruise with Allure of the Seas, but watching too many videos of that ship I had the impression that the Oasis-class ships are nothing but mere floating malls in the ocean - no theme, no character. We wanted a cruise that was going to be memorable before I head to a long deployment. After much deliberation, we went back to the Dream as our last cruise with them three years was exactly just that - it was magical. This cruise went out exactly the same way as we had it three years ago. We got our transportation arranged from the airport, and the whole embarkation process was smooth like before. Once on the ship, we had our cabin on the tenth deck, middle, just below the pool deck. I found our location to be very convenient to wherever we needed to go. We had access to two nearby elevators, and the pool deck are just a deck up. We also noted that our balcony is directly below the pool deck, so like an awning, it was well protected from the elements which I found nice. The room itself had shown some age to it. I'm not sure when and if the ship have ever been refurbished, but with my OCD, I quickly found scuff and wear marks on the light switches and fixture parts that have been heavily touched through the years. Expecting a premium product for this price, it was hard for me to see past that glare of the wear. Our embarkation lunch at Cabanas were not too pleasant. It was way too crowded, open tables were hard to find, and I found some of the servers unwelcoming. Once we got our seats, we did find the food less desirable than the last time we were on the ship. We brought these issues to management and were given immediate answers to our concerns. Over the following days, we experienced the same magical moments that we had the first time we cruised with these ship. Public spaces were clean and looked just as ornate as before. For those that haven't cruised on this ship, Disney did not spare on the small details in creating their theme on the ship. Their shows were of Broadway caliber, especially beauty and the beast. Their character meet and greets were always a hit with the kids, if you don't mind waiting up to a half hour. And because this was a holiday themed cruise, they went over the top for showcasing Santa. As well, their pirate show fireworks on the top deck was an extravaganza. Hands down it was the coolest experience I've ever had at Sea. Our day at Castaway Cay was just Divine. I still can't forget how beautiful and perfect the island looked. It didn't feel over crowded and there were ample opportunities to just unwind and take it all in. Buffet services followed us there and it was great. No complaints. Food was something that this ship have to at least revamp. It was almost the same menu we had three years ago, so we were not as excited this time. Also, we were not served lobster on this cruise, not one time, which I found surprising. On the other hand, we were able to enjoy our previous favorites instead. I was about to write off Disney from our future cruise consideration after this trip, but what made us book another future cruise with them is the fact that our daughter had the best time of her life at their Kids club while the peace of mind it gave us allowed us parents to enjoy our own time at Sea. I don't think we even want to risk trying that out with other cruise lines and be disappointed. Another biggest factor that made us decide to book another future cruise with them is their customer service. They truly went above and beyond to ensure that, despite the issues we raised, we had a magical experience on this ship. Our guest manager was exemplary, and nothing short of commendable. When we disembarked, we felt highly satisfied that the cruise fulfilled our expectations. So much that we ended up cancelling our Royal Caribbean cruise for next year, and ended up prebooking our next Disney cruise with an even bigger family in tow. Disney cruises are not the cheapest out there, but the many repeat cruisers we had on board can't be wrong on going again for the Disney experience. With the amount of people already prebooking their cruise, we can't be wrong on making that decision either. It's simply the best cruise experience for families, and definitely something to strongly consider if you've never cruised with Disney cruises before. Read Less

I have been on one other ship; Freedom of the Seas 3 years ago and loved it. Me and my mother went on this ship last week. I was hoping she could enjoy the same things I had on my Royal Caribbean cruise. We did have a great time. But, there were some things in need of being repaired. We had at least 2-3 broken electric outlets in our room and the vanity in the bathroom was scratched up. The shower was very small with a curtain; not a hard door. There was a place on the outside rail on one of the upper decks that was taped off because it was broken. There were 4 coke machines. 3 of them were right next to each other. One of those never worked. The others were frequently out of ice. It would be nice if they were more spread out and easier to access from different areas. This is the first time I have never had the choice of lobster tail on the formal dining room menu. They put some "premium" options from Chops grill on the menu for an additional fee. Most of the entrees that I chose were good, but a few werent. I really dont want to spend more money when we have already paid for food beforehand. The crew was extremely nice and helpful. WE loved our waiters. Even though we were stuck with " My time dining"; we were able to have a standing scheduled table and time every night when we asked. We enjoyed the singing/dancing shows in the Orpheum and there was a comedian that was mediocre. We loved Cococay beautiful beach and nice buffet set-up! Nassau is alot of stores; diamond and gold shops mostly; if you have seen it once, there isnt much point in getting off unless your doing an excursion. Read Less

1st cruise ever, we chose a short one. We will be back...longer! Room with balcony of sits and table. Excellent service room care. Dining service of care, especially Gluten Free issues for us, was passionate and delicious. So many eating areas available; main dinning room, Windjamer buffet just two of the many we loved. Outside and inside pools, decks and decks outside sitting. So many shows in theatre and bars/lounges. Casino and fun games in bars/lounges. Honestly if you couldn't find it...just ask. Need assistance, just ask...doctor and three nurses. Transfer to islands so easy. Options for the islands are there. Walk, ride via carriage, bus, taxi, tours...pick what you want. Food, beaches, souvenirs. How about ride to the ocean and ride submarine to see the fish, turtles and corals. Ask Bahama people where THEY go to eat out. Anyone can eat McDonald's...you should eat Conch food or local fish, the local way. You will be thrilled. Not an activity person? Enjoy relaxation and food, you will be thrilled. Read Less

Customer service and majority of staffs working on the cruise have bad service. Extra charge was put on the account. We travel in the middle on high season some of the on board activity was cut back due to under staff and other activity have to wait in line more than 1 hours. Buffet staffs are not friendly. Got 3 main pool was small with so much people water was so cloudy. Main dinning service was great with very friend staffs. Entertainment was good but make sure you make reservation otherwise you have to wait in line and still might not get into the show. Stateroom staffs are friend much more better than buffet staffs. If you are ice cream lover you will be disappointed only available during dinner, there was only 2 ice cream selection strawberry or vanilla. This was the most amazing cruise that I have ever been on with going on Royal Caribbean. We enjoyed every stop onboarding experience was amazing food was excellent and the cleanliness of the boat was in Tip-Top shape. It is definitely family-friendly and also offers things for adults married or single to do as well. If you are looking for a quick getaway it suits you for 3 days and offers amazing service from start to finish. Also the port sandwich we stopped in the Bahamas and also cococay where excellent the excursions are great it was easy to follow you couldn't get lost and also there was tons of food, shopping, and beaches to go to and just relax. It was nice to go on the boat after and watch movies on the top deck floor and participate and the different events they had, such as contest, dancing Under the Stars, and rock climbing. Read Less

Amazing!! The ship is not crowded even with over 6,000 guests on-board. It’s a very different feeling ship than our many other cruises. Loved the solarium, spa, outdoor feel and awesome views. It’s a different experience than most cruise ships. Go and Enjoy!! And since I don’t have enough words yet for the review. Allow me to continue... my teenage girls like the teen club staff involvement better on other ships BUT. They made great friends on this ship and had a blast!! It’s just less staff involvement and tons of activities to do. It’s impossible to see this ship in just 7 days so another oasis experience is inevitable for our family. My wife and I enjoyed the spa experiences and the shows. Not as talented as other ships we’ve been on but the shows did not disappoint. They were incredible as well. From ice skating shows to aqua theater and comedy live shows. So much fun!! Read Less

I truly had a wonderful time on this cruise. The staff was great, the food was simply delicious, with a large selection to choose from. The activities were exiting, the shows were entertaining, except for the Broadway show, Cats. I did not care for the performance, I would have enjoyed another Broadway performance much more, example of, Lion king or Hamilton. I would recommend Royal Caribbean to all of my family and friends, I did not want to leave the ship, I wanted the fun to continue for two more weeks. I would like to let Royal Caribbean know that, they make there guess feel like royalty, it was great to experience the life of luxury for one week. I now know how the queen of England live her daily life. It was short but a wonderful experience that I hope to relive again. Cruising is the only way to vacation. Thank you. Read Less

Great atmosphere and balance for the whole family! Boarding and disembarking went very smoothly. Carnival Magic was always kept clean at all times. Along with being efficient cleaners, the housekeepers were friendly and welcoming during the entire stay. Great food was provided 24/7. The overall service was organized and very efficient. Each and every member of the crew was very kind and kept a smile on our faces. My husband and I traveled with our two children, which are 16 and 20 years old. They both loved the ship’s entertainment and activities. Every crew member was kind, helpful and always seem to have a smile on their face. Food was great and endless supply of ice cream/frozen yogurt was over the top. We look forward to cruising with Carnival again next summer. Just to reiterate, our vacation was AMAZING because of the fantastic crew....from the Captain to housekeeping and everyone in between!!! Read Less

This is my 3rd time on the beautiful Oasis. I have also sailed on her sister ship the Allure. As far as ships go, the Oasis is awesome. The Aqua Show and the Ice Show are fantastic. I think the Broadway show Cats the Musical is a poor choice for a cruise and not only was the theater not full but more than half of the guests left mid-show...not because the performers were not talented but because the show is just weird. As far as my overall experience, let me just share that I am almost a "diamond plus" member for RCCL and I have been very loyal to their brand for almost 20 years. Not any more! I was appalled at the constant "nickel and diming". I knew in advance that for the four cabins I was paying for (3 central park balconies and one junior suite) that with the alcohol package, specialty dining, excursions etc. that I would be paying just about $20,000.00 for the cruise. Little did I know that where popcorn used to be free, they now charge your $2.50 (plus 18% service fee) for a tiny little bag. Room service used to be free - now $7.95 plus the 18% service fee. My spin class had a $20 charge but then they added the 18% service fee (and the instructor was horrible - didn't even stretch us at the end of class. When questioned about not stretching he said that in "boot camp" - which also has a surcharge, they will stretch me!!!). When have any of you ever paid your aerobics instructor a tip? Toooooo Much! Cupcake class - surcharge, sushi class - surcharge, tour of the kitchen (used to be free) - now $30 plus 18%, craft workshop - surcharge, card making - surcharge, body sculpt - surcharge, spin class - surcharge, yoga - surcharge, wine tasting - surcharge - even with the alcohol package!!!! I would much prefer that I was charged $22,000 (vs. $20,000) and EVERYTHING (with the exception of specialty dining, alcohol and gambling) was included. On to the never ending service charges.... Years ago, staff members worked very hard to secure their tip. These were the days when service was excellent. The harder the staff member worked to make your vacation as perfect as possible, the more money they made. About 8 years ago, the cruise lines decided to change this and offer prepaid gratuities. This wasn't such a bad concept because it alleviated the need to hand out cash on the last night to all that helped make your trip special. This has completely taken a wrong turn! For this trip, I prepaid ALL gratuities for my entire crew. Because I know that these service fees are shared among the entire crew, I always bring a few hundred dollars in singles to hand out to the staff member that does something "special". I paid so many service fees, I gave up on handing out the singles. My one specialty dining waitress even suggested that I tip her because she will not see the 18% that I prepaid. If I am paying $180 in specialty dining service charges and the waitress is not seeing any of it (or very little), then where is it going? Do I really need to tip her more one top of the $180? The very last night, My cabin steward gave me an envelope that said "tip, tip hooray" for extra good service. Yes, he did a good job but he was already tipped when I prepaid my gratuities. Do I need to give more than the prepaid amount when he was just doing his job - nothing more, nothing less? You cannot have it both ways Royal - either remove the auto-gratuities - which will promote the excellent customer service you once offered - where your staff earned their tips...or put it in place for your cabin stewards and wait staff ONLY! My next cruise will be with Norwegian Cruise Lines. I like the concept of FREE alcohol, gratuity, excursions, internet and specialty dining!!! Ps. I prepaid the arcade card for my teens to get the online discount - at least half of the games were not in working order. Pay a little extra and buy the arcade cards on ship so you don't overbuy like I did. Read Less

We loved the ship because it was easy to move around and not too big. Excellent signage to get us from one place to another. The cabin was great for us. Everything we needed was there and it was always clean and everything was functional. The dining was phenomenal, food, service, and drinks! We really were pleased with the gym since we both like to work out. It had all the equipment that we both like to use. This was my first ever cruise and I get an unbelievable experience! I'm 16 years old boy and I decide to join a teen club (club O2) this club for teens from 15-17 years old, I meat so many new people. club O2 helped all of us not to be scared of each other. Club was opened till 1 am but after when it closed, we went to the food market and we wear talking for 2 or more hours, or we just wondering around the cruise. Some of us made some relations ships (boyfriend/girlfriend). We all were kind to each other. My self, I meat with 2 18n years girls, we get so much fun together. They wasn't allowed to join this club and that sad, but they still made some friends. So Carnival Sunshine if you can please make one more club for teens from 18 to 20 years old. Crue group is super friendly, food is really good. They even have a pizza place that open 24/7. Carnival Sunshine offers all people a great shows, partys, and more fun. If you want to get a WiFI you need to pay almost $100, but trust me it not worst it! Without internet access, people becoming more friendly to each other. Last what I want to say is that it always hard to say goodbye to your vacation, friends, etc. We all become so close to each other, but this is life and we can't change it, but what we can do is when you at a cruise, do not waste your time, take this chance meet new people. don't afraid to come to a person and say "hey, how are you?" On day 3 of the cruise, I saw a beautiful 2 girls and I come to them and I said "Hey, what a beautiful dress" and im actually happy right now that I did it, because we get a good time together and now we texting each other and I hope one day I will see them again) Thank you Ko-Ko (teen club operator) for your games and support! For our 30th anniversary and we have never been on a Royal Caribbean cruise but we have heard how great they were. The room was very small and it was a balcony. The steward was excellent . The main dining room is good and the service was excellent but they should have a better menu selection. The buffet was good but very crowded . I like how they find a table for you but the menu was only ok. The recreation activities were excellent with no crowds. The 150 Central Park restaurant was excellent but the other fancy restaurants are too expensive because they have fees + a la cart options . The shows were all disjointed and made no sense. They do have some very talented performers but not good story lines. The fitness and spa area was over priced and there fitness staff is unqualified but that is the same on all cruise lines. They promote alcohol way too much and shopping is too much also. The cruise director was very low energy and boring. We had issues with our excursions because my wife was sick and customer did nothing to try and fix it. Labadee Haiti was beautiful and I will go back. The ship is huge but very easy to navigate. I liked the art auctions and the ship was beautiful. Embarkation was horrible it took 2 hours to board and we were early. Even though we had issues I will go back. Read Less

We have done this before. Twice we sailed from Barcelona, west with final stops either in Miami or Cape Canaveral. This trip took us the other way and it gave us some stops in ports (Cadiz, Gibraltar, Malaga) we were not familiar with and two stops in places we have been to before and enjoyed (Bermuda, Funchal). If you ever plan on doing a TA...check to make sure we are on it...42 days under our tighter belts and we have always enjoyed clam seas and fantastic weather. The ship was basically "sold out" (a few empty inside cabins according to hotel director Nelson) and I think the days of light loads on TAs are in the past. More of us seem to enjoy the sea days. However, there was a higher percentage of solo travelers in regular (non studio) cabins so the Epic was not truly at capacity. And, that's what I felt. It did not feel as crowded as I thought it would. Weather and crowd covered, here's some details: Embarkation. Smooth. We arrived at the port around 11:30am and we were on the ship by noon. I've heard, read, some horror stories about Cape Canaveral and our only experience boarding there in the past was on Disney so this was a pleasant first. Food. We did not have a bad meal and we had many meals. Some meals were better than others, some risottos were memorable and some filets were just OK but overall, the food was fantastic. We ate in every specialty restaurant (4 UDP plus two Platinum meals makes 6...we doubled down on Cagneys). No Spiegel this time but we've done it before and the meal was good. The service at all the restaurants was also great. Except...La Cucina. Long wait to be seated, looooong wait to place order. Longer wait to get meal. But the veal was perfection. Can't speak to the Garden Café buffet food with much authority. We did some breakfasts and a few light lunches and they were all good but we never ate dinner there. We did, however, stop by for Nutella crepes and ice cream. E.V.E.R.Y. Night! (the ying to all this food yang coming up under the spa and fitness portion of this review). Shoutout to Soledad (hostess), Ronnie Castillo (waiter), Julie-Anne (cagney waitress), Roberto at Le Bistro, and the nice hostess at the Garden Café who welcomed us every night at 9:30pm with "you're back for a crepe" and a smile and zero judgement! Entertainment. We've seen Burn the Floor and Priscilla and they were awesome before and awesome again. Special for this cruise, the cast of Burn and Priscilla put together two shows-- a tribute to women in music and a Broadway Cabaret and they were both phenomenal. Particularly the Broadway show tunes show. You could tell that they put a ton of work into it and their excitement, investment and enjoyment of the performance came across every piece. Juggler, comedian, hypnotist, howl at the moon, bar musicians were OK. Some better than others (for example, the Howl at the Moon guys were good but we've seen better). Shout out to Hector of the teal shirt and grey suit entertainment reservation staff. Always professional and helpful. Fitness/Spa. This gets it's own heading because 1) we always purchase the spa pass and 2) we go to the gym every day. (we also never take the elevators---pardon the brag!--and as I write this...maybe those were crowded and well...who knew?!). The spa (we call it our water park time) was as good as we remember. Quiet, peaceful, steamy, bubbly, heaven. We end most of our late afternoons there and because of the 14 out of 15 sunny days...we went from pool side to heated lounger and thermal spa every day. The spa ladies said they had "sold out" but I only had to wait for a heated lounger a couple of times and it did nothing to bring down my bushwacker, cuba libre, sangria, dark and stormy mood. (shout out to Vladimir--Serbia wants it's best bar tender back). The gym was likewise never overly crowded (maybe it had something to do with the higher age average on the ship or we just got lucky). The staff was great (shout out to Rohit in the gym and Suzette at the spa reception). Clean, well maintained and. in case you have never cruised on the EPIC, the gym is ginormous. Cabin. You've read the "what were they thinking?" reviews I am sure. Who puts the toilet and the sink where the nightstand and the closet should go? And why do you have to walk thru the shower to get in the room? It's not that bad (and the last two sentences were meant to be funny people). Yes, it's weird and if I were sharing a cabin with a stranger or my smelly teenager...it would be an issue. But check you tube, look at floor plans and realize that the guys who designed this ship were crazy and came up with a funky, curved cabin, cubicle shower/tub toilet French j'ai nes sais quois. Embrace the uniqueness (meaning nobody has done it again and never will). We don't mind it. The bed was super comfortable, our balcony was perfect and there's almost too much storage space. Of note for Epic newbies...because the staterooms have these curved shapes, some have the bed closer to the door and some have the bed closer to the balcony. Closer to the balcony is better if you want/need some distance between the bathroom(s) and your pillow. Our steward was THE BEST. Shout out to Victor. Epi(c)logue. (Ha. I kill me) Service was almost perfect and you should never expect perfection. The crew was attentive, friendly and helpful. It's a long crossing with some long days for them (I was not going to mention that the turning of the clocks forward six times was painful...but there it is). We did not do any shore excursions thru NCL, we did not need to go to guest services, we did not gamble and we did not have anything to do with the youth program staff or the medical staff but every other department gets a solid A (even with the small La Cucina service blip). The only ugly (and I don't mean physically) people we came across were some of the passengers but that's normal. When you witness someone being rude to a staff member, stop, let them move on and then do something or say something nice to the staff member. It's the right thing to do. Call me preachy. Read Less

We found a good price for this cruise and are tired of going to the same old places in the Caribbean, so we booked and inside room, and then upgraded to a mini-suite. The room was good in our opinion. There were many who did not like the "split" bathroom, but it worked fine for us. Our issue with the ship is the lack of inside seating space. The top deck is great if the sun it out and it's warm, but the wind was blowing and it was fairly cool out during our crossing, so staying on deck for a significant amount of time was not an option. Inside community seating space is EXTREMELY limited, so it's hard to find anywhere to go if you want to play a board game, etc. There is a large amount of floor space on decks 5,6 & 7 that are idle or entirely too large for the use that they are attributed for. The art gallery area is nice, with a fair amount of wall space afforded for display. The best way to attend dinner and shows goes against the concept of "Freestyle Cruising", in that it's a good idea to make reservations or you risk not making it into the shows, or getting a seat when you want to eat in the "regular" dining rooms, since even after making reservations, you should show up at least 30 minutes early to make sure you get a good seat at a show. I had one outstanding customer service experience however. Una worked at the coffee shop, and I bought an espresso after asking if they were good; it wasn't even close. I told her what she needed to do to fix the issue, and to maintain the quality of the shots into the future. She didn't know how to make the adjustments needed to the equipment to attain good shots, but she found the person who could help her, and the espresso went from quite awful to very good overnight. I contacted the hotel manager and let them know that I appreciated her efforts, and let them know that she was interested in learning how to adjust the machines and keep them in the best shape possible, which they may incorporate into the training for the coffee shop staff. I overheard quite a few comment after the changes were made that the coffee was so good after, so I felt good about helping Una and improving the quality of the coffee for everyone on the boat. We will book on Norwegian again, but not on this ship. Everyone we talked with about other Norwegian ships said that the others are much better laid out and more "cruiser friendly" than the Epic. Wow, what a great cruise! I sailed with my wife, 16-year-old daughter, her best friend and another couple in a total of 3 cabins. We embarked on March 24th and arrived back at Port Canaveral this morning a very tired group. Embarkation was very quick. We arrived at10:30, spent about 10 minutes getting our sea cards and the rest of the time waiting for our group to be called at 11:30. Overall, the food on the ship was fabulous. Our favorite meals were at La Bistro and Shanghai’s. Cagney’s was pretty good, but I don’t understand all of the hype I have been reading. The restaurant itself was amazing, but the food was about a 7 out 10. I got the porterhouse and my wife got the filet which were both about the quality you might get at outback. O’Sheehan’s was a very cool place to be as far as atmosphere, but the food was definitely on the lesser side of our favorites. They seem to have a bad habit of bringing out cold food that would probably be very good if it were hot. Service was also very hit or miss, mostly miss. We ate at Cirque Dreams and had a very nice meal here, especially considering it being “show food” and coming out all at once for the entire restaurant. The show itself was amazing. The food on all of the buffets was always fresh and very tasty. We also had a sushi snack at Wasabi’s and was very impressed. Entertainment on the ship was some of the better we have ever seen. All of the theatre shows were worth seeing. We became groupies of “Siglo” who plays everything from contemporary rock to classic rock and are spot on with all of the songs they sing. Unfortunately, this was there farewell week on the Epic and they are on a plane right now to Germany to become the headliner on the Bliss. I would book my next cruise just to see these guys, they were that good. The band even helped me with a customized souvenir by autographing a broken bass drum. Epic Beatles is definitely worth seeing as is Howl at the Moon. We did not do the comedy club, but I heard it was great. During sea days, the pool is VERY busy and the Epic does not have a lot of hidden areas like you see on many cruise ships to get away from the crowd. I was told when we checked in at the port that our sailing had the second most number of passengers ever, so that did not help the crowd issue. The pool bars do become very busy but if you tip the bartenders and the waiters bringing drinks, they will definitely pay you more attention. If we sail again on the Epic, we’ll most likely upgrade to the Haven to be guaranteed a place to get away from the crowd. Our 16 year olds were not impressed with the teen club. That being said, all of the younger teens we spoke with loved it. Ours are just the age where they want to meet new people and "hang out", which was mostly done by the pool. The feedback from both of them was an awesome cruise. Overall, We really liked the Epic and would sail again. If you have specific questions, comment below and I’ll do my best to answer them.
