FAMILY CRUISE

Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on Carnival Sunshine

Chose this cruise to celebrate birthdays of two family members. Seven of the thirteen members of our party are platinum Carnival cruise members. The ship is in good condition, however the cleanliness of the lower deck lounging area and lounge chairs was terrible, bordering on disgusting. Dirt and dried white paint flecks were all over the chairs, sticking to towels and clothing. The ...

Smelled cigarette smoke throughout the ship

Do not sail the Sunshine if you are sensitive to cigarette smoke. Cigarette smoke from the casino filled the ventilation system the entire cruise. I get migraines from cigarette smoke, therefore, I had a migraine the entire 7 day cruise. We complained several times. Our cabin steward put an ozone machine in our cabin several times which only helped for about an hour. We sailed this ship on a ...

Our cabin steward was excellent, but that was about all; he was named Lamphong and he was great. Otherwise, the cruise was fairly mediocre, stopping in several Caribbean ports including their manufactured island in the Bahamas. We had a veranda room looking out at the very aft of the ship, which cost more than the regular veranda rooms. We were surprised to find a dinky veranda, no larger that the ...

We enjoyed our themed charter cruise, despite the many shortcomings of Carnival

This review concerns only the Carnival ship and company. Our cruise was an adult-only charter and we had no complaints about its organisers. Our overall impression was of a penny-pinching enterprise seeking to squeeze every last dime from its captive customers. Specifically : - Food in general was very poor. Everything in the buffet was cold and poor quality (exception: the bacon was ...

Poor Food, Poor Quality Cruise

Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on Carnival Sunshine

I have always bragged to others about the quality and variety of food on the Carnival Menu and buffets. BUT on the Sunshine it was the worst food ever encountered on a cruise ship. Our food was cold, crusty, and dried. The salads were browned lettuce and soups were cold. The service was extremely slow and not acceptable at all. We are both diamond VIP members with Carnival. We have sailed on over ...

Wouldn’t Cruise On The Sunshine Again

We cruised on this ship when it was the Destiny and had a great experience. This was the total opposite. Let me first say that our cruise director Mikey was AMAZING. I’d sail with him as CD again any day, he went above and beyond. Pros: JiJi Restaurant was wonderful! Make sure to try the pork belly, pot stickers, and the wide noodles. This is family style dining so everyone gets to try each ...

Like a six year old mini van

This ship reminds me of a six year old mini van. It will get you there and back but it has no style, grace or wow factor. After a 100+ cruises I believe I have a decent idea of what to expect. This review takes a quick, broad view. You can have a poor meal or cabin steward on a great ship and a great meal etc on a poor ship, it is the overall experience that counts. Ship-Is old, ...

Not so sunshiny

We chose this ship because we wanted a New Years cruise. First, I will start with the good. Embarkation was very fast. Mikey, the cruise director tried his best but was letdown from the Vista, which we sailed on last year. Our dining room staff Eric; Carlos and Iketut were incredible and fun. Now the bad. We were supposed to dock in the Dominican Republic but were not able to land due to weather, ...

Service personnel is great. Every day there was a SEWER SMELL that was OVERWHELMING near the elevators on your way up to eat. Was disgusting. Staff was very attentive. Entertainment was on a high school level as far as talent. Nothing like other ships we have been on in the past. Debarkment was ridiculous. We were asked several times to leave our room from 8:30-9:15 yet only one floor was ...

Don’t waste your money on sunshine

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Carnival Sunshine

We chose carnival sunshine to celebrate our 20th Anniversary. The port of calls were Amber Cove, Saint Thomas, San Juan, and Caicos ‘s and Turks. We noticed that the ship seemed to be at full capacity of people, making it very crowded on the inside and outside of the ship. Every evening dining we would spend over 2 1/2 hours in the dining area due to service being maxed out. Due to that we would ...
