Embarkation was so easy and exciting. Everyone around me was so eager to get on that massive dream boat. My family and I stayed at a hotel about 30 minutes away,(just to build anticipation on the drive to the port.) The luggage carrier worker people(??) were very gentle with our luggage and very friendly. When I walked into the atrium, it was the most magnificent sight I'd ever seen. I looked up and saw seven balconies encircling me, leading up to the clear glass windows into the blue sky. Food- My family and I went to the 6:15 dinner and sat at a table with five of our neighborhood friends that had come onboard with us. The waiters were awesome!! So enthusiastic and had great senses of humor. Whatever we requested, they could fulfill it. For those 5 short dinners, they were our best friends. The food was great. I had a caesar salad every night, and some flavors of chilled soups,(I thought I'd try something new since you could order anything and as much of it as you wanted to!!) I also had great steaks too! The deserts were awesome. Some were: world famous Warm Chocolate Melting Cake, Kahlua Pie, Cappuccino Pie, and a variety of flavored ice creams. The lido deck had two buffet lines. The one facing the pool(outside) usually had well-done burgers with assorted veggie topping and seared mushrooms and sour kraut(sp??). The inside buffet line sometimes had the same thing, but usually had fancier foods like pastas, meatloaf, or chicken. There was a bar everywhere you looked. My parents got my sis and i unlimited soft drink cards on the first day for roughly $10, and were constantly drinking coke or sprite or something the entire cruise. Also a sandwich and pizzeria bar that were open 24/7, so if i was hungry at 3am, i could walk up in my pajamas and get a slice of pizza!! Entertainment- The pools were always fun to go and hang out, meet some new people, but I mainly just like to roam around the ship, inside the shops, gameroom, or teen club,(they call it the 02 Club.) I was 16 when I went on this cruise and the 02 club was 'where its at.' But occasionally I peaked in at the casino and saw lots of fun,(for the adults, of course) goin on in there, (especially on the last night. I swear-everyone went home broke that night. wow.) I tried to make a show every night in the Paris lounge. The first night was a family appropriate show about a trip across america. It was really cool. They included hit songs from back in the 70s and 80s. The actors sometimes came into the crowd to pick viewers to come on stage to sing and dance,(my dad went up and did the macarana, really really funny.) One night, there were two comedy routines,(one pg-rated and one r-rated) done by the same man and he was really funny both times. The pg-rated show was clean family fun, but the r-rated(18 yrs and older) show was mostly dirty comedy, but the seats were packed and all the adults seemed to really enjoy it,(sometimes you had to have a really perverted mind to understand some of the things he was saying. hahaha.) Cabins-We had been on other Carnival ships before and always picked a lower room because they were cheaper, and we didn't mind walking a few extra flights of stairs,(or we could of taken the elevator, which was rarely packed.) But those aren't the only reasons why those rooms are cheapest- it was sometimes loud during debarkation from the islands with the anchor rumbling back into the ship. I didn't seem to mind, but my dad is so picky that he decided to spend a couple of extra hundred dollars and get rooms on the upper deck, which really isn't that high in the ship, but was quiet. They got a room with and ocean view and loved it. The interior rooms were nicely sized for one or two people, but no more. My sis and I shared one. The room stewards always seemed to clean the rooms after every time you left. It was amazing. Tehy would scrub the bathrooms, make the beds, vacuum, and even organized all of my moms makeup in the dresser,(neat freaks, but not really. haha.) I've read other reviews about the ship not being clean. (omg.) I was always seeing employees vacuuming, dusting, and scrubbing, and almost always greeted me with a "hello" if I walked by. This was the best cruise i had been on yet. I have been on the Carnival Fantasy, and the Carnival Sensation twice. Those were also great, but I was too young to remember and really take advantage of every moment I spent on those dream machines. I highly recommend this ship to all ages and family sizes. It is a vacation that you'll never forget. email me at email@example.com if you have any questions. Read Less
