Pretty Good, but Headed for Troubled Waters at Full Capacity
"- 60% capacity (3,875 passengers) - Excursions are highlight experiences and should definitely be booked in Cozumel and Costa Maya - There is enough to do in Rotan to forego booking an excursion in favor of the private beach - Food in the main dining room (The Palm) is dreadful - The two extra fee restaurants currently operating as included is the only thing saving the value of dinners - There is great variety for casual dining and though they are hit or miss, there are some very good options - There is a lot of fun stuff to do onboard and the adult comedy lineup is great - Finding peaceful, shaded deck space to lounge and using the ship elevators are already difficult at 60% capacity - Staff is generally helpful and polite but are overly aggressive in selling extras and not doing enough to enforce mask requirements - Cabins are a little cramped but generally comfy and well-appointed - The Carnival HUB App is fantastic Review in Detail: Ports of Call and Excursions: All three ports of call are walled off from the local population. If you can get a chair on the side of the ship shaded by the ships own superstructure and if there aren't any loud groups of people, the Serenity Deck is a great place to relax with spectacular views off the bow...."Read More

Carnival vs Royal

Review for Carnival Mardi Gras to Caribbean - Eastern

My wife and I chose this cruise because we like the big ships, and the dates/price were right. We usually cruise Royal Caribbean, so this was a change. This was our 16th cruise, second on Carnival. We arrived at our chosen boarding time, and the process was smooth and quick. Our cabin was a balcony near the aft end of the ship. Good location, however, the Roller Coaster was 4 decks ...

Beautiful Ship, Mostly Hits the Mark!

First cruise since Covid hit, we decided to re-start with a newer ship. Sailed on the Carnival Freedom 8 years ago and were pleasantly surprised with the overall experience. First impression was positive, ship is beautiful, size wasn’t intimidating as we’ve been on Symphony of the Seas in the past. We did find the lack of a true Centre atrium a bit strange, there’s an open theatre mid ship ...

This was our first cruise since COVID started, and we wanted to go back on Carnival because that was the first cruise we had on our honeymoon 5 years prior. We had finished 3 cruises at that point with the 3 major lines, Carnival, RC, and NCL. My expectations were that because this was a newer ship with Carnival that there would be lots to do, and that we'd get to try a bunch of new restaurants. ...

Mardi Gras is a beautiful ship with an outstanding crew

We are Platinum level with Carnival. Prior to this trip the experience on Carnival has been very consistent, it didn’t matter what ship you sailed, there was always familiarity. Post-pandemic we booked the Mardi Gras to experience something different, and it didn’t disappoint. Embarkation, muster drill and disembarkation have never been easier. The innovation of new processes is likely a ...

I will start with this is my 8th cruise and no stranger to the industry. I booked a suite for this cruise unlike all of my past were outside cabins. We arrived on the ship and were told our room was ready. Once on board the rooms were blocked off with a sign that stated no rooms would be ready until after 2pm. Ok, not the end of the world. At 3pm we went to our room to find out that we have an ...

BIG ship -- still fun, but too many people

We chose this ship because it is newer and has the BOLT roller coaster! There were six of us traveling. We had three rooms on Deck 15: two balcony rooms and one interior across the hall. The Eastern Caribbean itinerary was a plus also, since my brothers had never been to any of those ports. Embarkation: went as smoothly as it can when there are thousands of people all checking in at the same ...

My wife and I sailed on the Mardi Gras in February of 2022 and wanted to invite some friends to enjoy it all again. We ended up with 7 couples. The best part of the Mardi Gras is all the food options that are included. I recommend doing the open dining option. This gives you access to ChiBang and Cucina Del Capitino as well as the main dining room as an option. You do not have an assigned ...

What a ship! Absolutely beautiful inside and outside. Lovely common areas, decor was light, bright and modern. Loved the Center stage area. Food. Excellent, to have the Asian, Italian and smokehouse all included was so good. Tried most things on board and it was all good. Even liked the buffet area which I thought was massive, we always managed to find a table. The Chicken place was good as ...
