"Cruise" dates: Apr 5, 2124 - Apr 13, 2024 Normandy to Paris, "Impressions of the Seine"
Ships: AmaLyra and AmaDante
Be aware that climate change is causing unusual extremes in the water levels of the Seine. Thus, we never got the "Scenic River Cruise" experience, instead being tied at anchor first in Le Havre then at Paris. All we got were bus rides ("Ama Busways"?). And we ...
Not 5 Star
We took a chance on Scenic Luxury Cruises for The Spectacular South of France tour because they promoted themselves as an all-inclusive, 5-star, luxury cruise line.
The ports were ok, but it seems like there should have been some nicer villages to dock at along the way. We had one included tour per port. The tours were mostly disappointing. For example, the Truffle Farm did not ...
We are serial river cruisers but this year we were only able to make a relatively late booking, due to unforeseen domestic circumstances. We had not experienced Shearings river cruises before but, at fairly short notice, Shearings were the only company that could fly us out of Bristol to Paris CDG.
Our transfer from CDG to the ship was by a private hire car - very impressive - although we were ...
A romantic river cruise? The A Rosa Viva advertising is more alluring than the experience. I echo the English speaking commentaries about a distinct lack of staff training. Even attempting to point out the lack of respect shown to us from a waitress, the maitre de brushed it off as normal behaviour. The cleaning personnel were the friendliest, and not as pompous as their colleagues. The engine ...
If you are not German stay away from this ship. We signed up for a Seine cruise with English company Saga who miss sold this cruise. The excursions were in German. The food was advertised as Mediterranean but was German and very low quality. The ship was in need of an upgrade. The officers were grumpy apart from French Captain and First officer who were helpful. Crew were good and helpful. Drinks ...
I only chose this cruise for the itinerary, almost everything about the cruise experience was sub-standard, frustrating, and it did not come close to meeting my expectations. So disappointed.
Balcony room on the baja deck was near back of ship; the room smelled!!!! it was also filthy, including bugs in the drawers and dust everywhere, also varnish all peeled from railing on balcony and rust ...
This was to be a graduation cruise for my granddaughter. from day 1, the ship had trouble. toilets on my deck didn't work - had to call the front desk each time we needed to flush!! also, ship had issues with electrical or something so it put us behind to where tours had to be cancelled for 3 ports so it could get fixed!
Very, very disappointed as these were important ports for my ...
After a horrid experience on the Discovery II we were frankly more of a mind to simply go home than to continue onto the next ship on our trip, The River Venture. Vantage showed good judgment in chartering buses for travel between ships after recent events in France and the trip went smoothly.
Simply put our experience on the Venture was comparable to prior Vantage experiences and helped ease ...
Another wonderful experience on the Viking River Cruise. Meals were excellent with multiple choices. All the tour guides were knowledgeable and eager to tell you all the details of their city. Stephanie, our cruise director, was vivacious, fun, down to earth, willing to help everyone......a real people person.
We loved the Reisling wine tour. It was so neat walking into the caverns filled ...
We started poorly. The hotel in Paris was not able to have our rooms ready by the 3 p.m. deadline. Instead, we were not allowed into our room until well after 5 p.m. Our wake-up call did not materialize and thus we missed our assigned bus ride to our port of embarkation, Trier.
Our cruise should have lasted 6 nights. Instead, the Odin broke down and we were stranded at a small German town - ...
