Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Scenic Sapphire

We chose this cruise as it sailed through the part of France which has always fascinated us. The boat was both modern and very comfortable .the service was mostly excellent and our tour guide was both extremely professional and personable. There was a good deal of comraderie on the boat because of this. The only criticism is that the daily tours started ,for us , 30 to 45 minutes too early . ...

Good trip ruined by floods and union action.

My husband and I had been on a cruise through Normandy to the English Channel (La Manche) and had planned to continue cruising down from Chalon sur Saone to Nice. We spent a night in Paris at the wonderful Hotel Scribe and were expecting to take the TGV down to Dijon, but the unions had decided to go out on strike so the TGV wasn't running. That meant driving down to the Saone to Macon, bypassing ...

Paris/Normandy

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Viking Kadlin

I would have rated this cruise as excellent except that our port of embarkation was changed at the lat minute. Instead of leaving from Paris, we were relegated to a port in Le Pecq and were denied the numerous advantages of being in Paris before and after cruising. This was a major disappointment and, frankly, we believe that we should have received some sort of refund for the inconvenience of ...

We were interested in seeing Paris and the Normandy Beaches. Had never been to either of the locations before. We were somewhat disappointed in Paris but enjoyed the rest of the trip immencely. The food was not quite up to par with previous experiences but it was understandable being a new ship and crew. We found the French people to not be as warm and friendly as all the residents of other ...

Chose it because it was a deal! Having everything included in price made it so much more enjoyable. Food, schedule, daily tours so good. People onboard were friendly, smart, well traveled and easy to converse with. Met peope I'd like to stay in touch with forever. Havinf flight and shuttles included gave less time figuring things out, more time enjoying! Even daily included guided yours made it so ...

to see Paris and Normandy. Cruise was done well in all aspects except there wasn't much cruising. We spent lots of time in LePecq, a suburb of Paris so the excitement of Paris nite life wasn't anywhere around. We were notified of this change well after we booked. We spent 3 days prior to embarkation at the Hotel Rochester in Paris and it was delightful. The trip to Normandy was especially ...

Wanted to see Paris and some of the french countryside. But the main reason for choosing this cruise was to go to Normandy. The tour of Normandy was good but way too short. we were able to see the Hi lites, but not enough time to explore the museum and see the films. Also would liked to spend more time at the memorial and try to find the graves of people from our state and town. Would ...

Viking Idun Spring Event

The cruise was an introduction to the German countryside and the small towns full of history and charm. The excursions were appropriate, but there were too many castles to see. A couple of activity events would have given variety. We particularly liked the abundance of drinks and appetizers. How it was presented and served really was very nice. We enjoyed the different cuisine ...

Rivers and Castles -- Great first time experience river cruising Paris to Prague

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on AmaLyra

Just back from an AMA Waterways river cruise from Paris to Prague. In summary, it was a great cruise and AMA certainly took care of its passengers. The cruise itself is seven nights from Luxembourg to Nuremburg and then we added on extensions in Paris at the beginning and Prague at the end. Overall I would give the 14 days a 4+ Rating. We are Elite plus Captain Club members with Celebrity but ...

Our tour director, Claudia, met us in Paris and remained with us for the entire trip. She was always accessible, made sure everyone knew schedules, always informative and friendly. I was disappointed that the boat did not dock within walking distance to the town at each port. It was so much more enjoyable when that was possible. The guides in each port were terrific. They were ...
