Having done two previous cruises with Scenic, it was our logical choice for a European holiday. Our travel consultant dealt with Scenic and sorted out flights etc which all went smoothly. We arrived two days earlier and were put into Scenic's choice of hotel Sofitel Lyon Definitely not five stars as graded. The next problem was receiving an email from our travel consultant the morning of the ...
This is our third Viking River Cruise. We enjoyed the food and wine on this cruise. We also thought the captain and the cruise director were brilliant and fun. More importantly, the excursions were well organized with knowledgeable tour guides (particularly Leif).
Our only disappointment on this cruise was “the early bird” special mentality of the passengers. Guests rushed for the dining ...
I chose this cruise because of it's ports of call. It had everything I was interested in seeing in this part of France. The service, food and accommodations were outstanding. This was the second Viking Cruise I have been on and it was better than the first. I found the food, service and entertainment to be excellent. The ports were just as I expected them to be and the guides were very good. ...
We chose this cruise because we went on Avalon Tranquility 2 in July and loved it so much. We booked this cruise for some late Summer sun - unfortunately we chose the wrong week for this. The two nights in Paris allowed us to make the most of a great location near the Champs Elysee. A magnificent hotel and a good room made this a great start for the holiday. The TGV ride to Dijon was also ...
I always do a lot of research before we take any trip. This was our second European river cruise and our first time with Avalon. I would definitely sail with them again. However the two things that were not great were the dinner menu choices and our particular cabin. (see below)
The food was nicely prepared and the wait staff was terrific, but the dinner menu was lacking in good choices. We ...
The cruise was beautiful and the side trips was wonderful. The Normandy trip was particularly heartwarming. I had a number of uncles who were in the invasion during D-day. The American Cemetery and the landing on Omaha beach brought tears to my eyes.
The food was very good, but needed more French food. The service was exceptional. However, the room was very tight with almost no room to ...
This is my first Tauck trip and it did not disappoint in terms of service and the overall quality of what was offered.
I did the 14 day Seine river cruise trip from Paris to London in July 2017. In practice this is only 9 days on the river boat and 5 days in hotels in Paris and London.
The Tauck tour directors were helpful and friendly and I could not fault them. The whole trip was ...
The good: The ship is beautiful. The food was good to very good. The crew was efficient and personable. The itinerary alternated between early days and sleep-in days. There was a good mix of sailing during the day to enjoy the stunning views and sailing at night for efficiency. The heated bathroom floor was really nice. Refrigerator in the cabin. I enjoyed all of the ports.
The bad: The beds ...
We chose this cruise for the history of WWII and the Normandy Beaches. But it was so much more! The Excursions were the best, being disabled I rarely am able to see places except for in the buses. The tour guides were excellent, easy to understand and using the sound boxes made listening very easy. From Monet's Garden to Rouen's Joan of Arc each step of the way was even more interesting. My ...
This was the year of the great French roast, Paris at 35ºC and similar to that all the cruise long. The payback was clear blue skies, no rain and great photos. The ship was 100% full, hence the service levels in the public areas were stretched.
This cruise is a mixture of great French wines and cheeses (approx 450 different cheeses to be tasted), as far as scenery goes the highlights are the ...
