This was our third Viking River Cruise and very nice. It was mostly what we've come to expect from Viking but not quite what it used to be. It seems the biggest difference is in the dining rooms with fewer wait staff. It also seems the wait staff isn't as polished as they've been in the past. Where do I begin?
We booked the Paris to the Swiss Alps river cruise in 2019 to sail in 2020. Unfortunately due to Covid our cruise was cancelled that year. While rescheduling, the Viking representative suggested that we take a voucher that would be totally refundable with a 25% upgrade to our room. This was our third Viking cruise and was the best yet. The ship was spotless, the crew genuinely friendly and helpful. Note that the busses used are exclusively dedicated to Viking excursions and the bus drivers are very skilled and safety conscious. The cruise itself was okay, scenic but the excursions were not very interesting and all but one or two required bus travel.
The discounted air was smoke and mirrors. I was able to book flights at a better price so we had Viking refund the “discounted” air we had paid them.
