Left from Le Havre France. Did not get a very good send-off from the crew as only 300 passengers got on here (vs. Southampton - 2300 & Dublin - 300). Kinda surprising - would have expected more attention, but embarkation seemed like an afterthought. Loved the ship, the dining, the service & the shore excursions. Great variety of food. We ate mostly at the buffet but did have a couple of dinners in the specialty restaurants. Also ate a couple of meals in the main dining room. All the food was consistently very good. Entertainment wasn't of a very high caliber in my book - didn't really enjoy any acts. My wife and I actually walked out on the first comedian show - he was terrible. Stale old jokes & then he made fun of little people. That was too much for me though others I spoke with liked him. No accounting for taste! The cabin was fine except that my mattress had a HUGE dip in it. Steward turned it over, but still uncomfortable. Very nice cruise for my wife & I. Read Less

We chose this cruise as part of a group of 11 friends& relatives traveling together. I had not been to Scotland or Ireland before so I was excited about those ports. The ship is HUGE. This has both benefits and disadvantages. The embarkation process was great, but we arrived early. The food in the dining room and the buffet is average; I would give it a grade of B-. We enjoyed Alfredo's and the International Cafe. Our stateroom steward, Taslim, was the best ever! He got our room done so quickly it was unbelievable. We had a mixed experience with the Princess excursions. The guide for the trip to Windsor Castle was nice, but larger groups had to wait in line for over an hour before getting in. We enjoyed the tour of Kinsale and Charles Fort, but we ran out of time and could not walk around the fort. The tour of Cawdor Castle and Culloden Moor was very good. The disembarkation process did not go smoothly. They brought bags out about six at a time, so we waited over an hour to get on your bus for the CDG airport transfer. Then the driver of our Gold bus 2 did not seem to know her way around the airport, so she went around the loop twice before dropping us off. She spoke zero English. The delay on the transfer bus meant that we missed our plane flight home, so we had to shell out for a hotel and meals for an extra night. Read Less

This cruise was a part of an escorted tour. The cruise was a circumnavigation of Britain, plus Cork, Dublin, Belfast, St Peter Port and Le Harve. Being an organised tour, we took no Princess tours. Embarkation. This was from Southampton. We can only compare this to Sydney, Aust. It seemed like an organised chaos. Waiting times to get to the checkin desk exceeded an hour. There was also issues with boarding the boat adding to the wait. The service staff were good though. A thumbs down for embarkation. As things went though the bags were at the cabin really quickly Cabin. Caribe, or in this case deck 10. Not sure of the category, but unobstructed balcony. No problems here, and the cabin size is good. No issues as such but 2 concerns.... 1:there really is very little drawer storage, more frustrating than anything, and 2: the cabin had a small coffee table. This was more a nuisance than functional. The Boat. I do not know what it is, but we could not warm to this ship. Its all there, its basically laid out as most cruise liners are, but it never endeared to the point of wanting to sail on her again. Eating: Symphony restaurant is good, service great, but the menu did not inspire. The Horizon Court ( Princess for bistro) was good, but the layout of offerings did not flow, and at times you would wonder why they do things as they are..... eg: breakfast, toast, butter and condiments are a good example. Get your toast, find your butter, spread it, then go back and remove your piece of jam / spread. Very inefficient, and frustrating. Entertainment. As we were a part of a tour group, we did not use the theatre save 1 show that was brought on. That was good. I still wonder though why Princess persist with undersized theatres. More cabins maybe???? We did see 1 show, not a production and it was very good. Tendering. Actually no issues here. Easy enough to get off. Getting on.... almost OK. As always Security. You know why things are in place. You accept processes. You do find it hard to accept blindly a Security officer bleating " 2 lines " when the 2nd line is held by whatever reason, and has not moved for the last 5 minutes. Also having to show your card to pass security to in under 50 mtrs have to show it again. Face it, you are on the dock, you have passed security. There is no chance that an intruder are going to join the ship run to get back on board...... or is dock security not really worth it???? Disembarkation. Not a problem, and easy. Who would have thought. Overall thoughts: Its a great boat. No questions there, but there is something there that is stopping it being a great boat. Would we break a leg to get back on.. no, but if the right opportunity presented, we would take it..... but we do not think that will happen. Read Less

Thank you to previous review writers of this cruise ship. Our expectations were fairly low with all the negative reviews, but we still booked because we liked the ports . Surprise, we loved the ship. I should point out I’ve also travelled on bigger ships with the Celebrity and Norwegian lines. Many complained about the meals. We found them delicious ( except for one night) Some complained about the portions being too small. This was great for me I have a tendency to eat everything on my plate and get overfull. What people might not know is you could order two or three main courses. Don’t like the one you ordered, the waiter got another. Want a second helping, no problem. The menus were varied. My only complaint was you had to pay for a lobster tail meal for 22 euro. The menu said lobster tails ( plural) in 5 languages ( plural ) but you only get one ... however it was delicious . I never found any of the people on board pushy ( some reviews complained about pushy Italians)and the staff were mostly friendly and courteous... a few female waiters could smile a bit more. The ship was nicely decorated and very clean. The theatre had a very glitzy Art Deco style. It took a few days to realize there was this nice dining area at the back buffet on deck 13. Also it leads to an quiet upper seating area on deck 14. Our balcony cabin was quite roomy and I had way more storage than on Celebrity or Norwegian. There was also this huge mirror across from the bed that made it seem larger. Ship improvements-There is always room for improvements and I wish there was some trash cans around the boat, when we had small trash to throw out. Also there are no clocks on board so I had to carry around my iPhone for the correct time. Embarking and Disembarking was amazingly fast. I think this is because people get on and off at different ports, so there is less congestion. The ports were the reason we took the cruise and we were not disappointed. Suprisingly one of our favourite ports was La Coruna a very picturesque town that we enjoyed strolling and taking photos. We only booked two excursions which were disappointing. At Verdon, we booked the wine excursion to the Medoc wine area. We chose this over the Bordeau because we did not want to be on a bus for a long tim. But we ended up being mostly on the bus for the entire 4 hours, except for 10 minutes outside the gates of one chateau and less than an hour at another chateau. It was suppose to be a French chateau but it’s now owned by the Chinese and the wine was not to my liking. Also the tour guide was silent for the majority of the tour... horrible. In Southampton we did London on your own excursion . Our bus had no AC and the windows could not be opened . Just two vents in the roof that one woman kept closing, not caring the people in the second half of the bus were left in sweltering heat . I should have investigated the hop on hop off better. Don’t buy it on the cruise. Cheaper lines sell the passes all over London . We don’t have time for this expensive option which included a boat ride and extended routes. We paid way too much. I wish we had just one hour more in the Southampton port so London was not so rushed. But we did enjoy our time there . Ports... La Coruna..as mentioned we loved it. We’re photographers and the old town wasn’t crowded in the early morning and very picturesque . Bilbao-took the shuttle. Visited The Guggenheim and the old town. We lucked into to two great exhibits at the Guggenheim . Excellent port Verona - see note above Amsterdam- great port, very crowded, we visited the Rijksmuseum ( booked on our own before the cruise )and booked our own nighttime canal wine and cheese cruise. Hamburg- not my favourite port Southampton -see London comments above. Ship entertainment -we liked the shows. I understand the limitations of having multilingual passengers. The shows on Norwegian were better but a pain to line up for tickets and limited seating. This was more relaxed and I loved the West Side Story show. Dining- we had a late seating with two other couples and had a great time with them. Luckily we all spoke English. On a few occasions non English passengers were seated with us. I think they may have had free seating. They seemed uncomfortable and isolated . More time should be taken matching up table partners based on a common language. As mentioned we enjoyed our food in the dining room and the buffet. I miss the watermelon Read Less
