Delightful experience

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Avalon Poetry II

Friends were already booked on it, and so we elected to join them! I had always fancied a river cruise, as opposed to an ocean cruise, and particularly wanted to do this Saone- Rhône one. I thought it was very good value for money, as there were several excursions included, and also drinks with meals. I throughly enjoyed it, as I adore France, so I was in heaven, visiting so many beautiful ...

We had done Amsterdam to Basel in 2018, and Paris-Normandy-Paris in 2019. This was our third cruise, and in our opinion, the best so far. Poetry II was immaculate and the crew and staff were friendly, competent, courteous and professional. As usual, the food was superb with excellent wine accompaniments. The daily "happy hour" is the best idea yet! We haven't decided where next year's cruise will ...

The nicest people and most interesting sites are on an Avalon cruise

I have cruised on Avalon before and found them to be a wonderful and relaxing way to travel. I travel as a single. Their staff is very helpful in providing information on things to see and do on your own. You meet other nice travelers from all over the world. You see sites that you would never see unless you got off the beaten bath. Many UNESCO sites that would be missed if you sailed a larger ...

Our friends that are wine connoisseurs wanted to tour region. We wanted to see Monaco but this trip did not end up there as the brochure stated when we booked. We enjoyed all the stops and seeing so many wonderful places., especially the small, quaint little towns and unusual things like "Garden of Eden," organ concert in cathedral, wine tasting in a chateau, etc..... We also liked the ...

We choose Avalon because of the cabins on the boats. They are larger than most of the other river boats. The outside wall is literally glass from ceiling to floor. The glass slides so you can open your room to the river, sit in a very comfortable chair and enjoy watching the scenery as you cruise. The space that other river boats put in an outside balcony is extra space in your room and you ...

The ship was gorgeous, clean and up to date. The triple wide panorama windows gave us a fabulous view. The crew was professional and went above and beyond for our comfort. The staterooms well appointed. The food was fabulous! Our tour guides were interesting and very professional! There was food all day long, and it was beautifully prepared and served. The wine was delicious and flowing. We have ...

Traveled with two other couples; found the trip fascinating, from the bullet train ride to the daily small group tours through Central and Southern French cities and towns. The river trip itself was fun and relaxing. Our cabin gave us plenty of space, and being able to open our door to the outside made it feel even more expansive. Plenty of room to store everything, and attention from the crew ...

We chose this cruise because we went on Avalon Tranquility 2 in July and loved it so much. We booked this cruise for some late Summer sun - unfortunately we chose the wrong week for this. The two nights in Paris allowed us to make the most of a great location near the Champs Elysee. A magnificent hotel and a good room made this a great start for the holiday. The TGV ride to Dijon was also ...

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Avalon Visionary

We selected this cruise (Visionary - Paris to Prague) as it offered destinations we wanted to experience and certainly the Avalon staff lived up to our expectations and the fine Avalon Waterways reputation as a premier river cruise provider. Some things we were ever so pleased with (1) The boat itself - Visionary. It is a modern, well planned out, exceptionally clean and well maintained vessel. ...
