Having cruised before on smaller ships, we thought we would try one of the 'biggies' and as we wanted a Christmas and New Year cruise to somewhere warm, we chose P & O's Ventura cruise to The Canaries and Madeira. The weather couldn't have been kinder with just a bit or rain in Madeira (didn't spoil the wonderful New Year fireworks display though). Both ways across the Bay of Biscay were ...
This was a last minute booking which had to take place during school holidays,my daughter works in a school, There were many families with children of all ages but we saw no bad behaviour at any time and some of them were charming. The ship was clean and very well looked after and our cabin (outside double) was spotless and attended to twice a day. So what was the problem? Food, breakfast very ...
Chose this cruise as we had only been to lanzarote of the Canary Islands before and non of the other ports except Lisbon ( and then only on a business trip) the fact we had been on Ventura before (back in 2010 for our first cruise) and that it had just been spruced up was also an attraction as we would know the ship and hopefully be chilled from the start.
This was also the first time our son ...
A wonderful first time cruise for my family on the cruise ship Ventura sailing from Southampton to the Canary Islands. We all had a wonderful time, food was very good most of the time, waiter service & cabin crew service was excellent. The ship had been recently refurbished & we could not fault it. The theatre was a nice size & excellent lighting & sound.
Our cabin steward Freddie was ...
This 12 night cruise is our longest to date. We normally head to Lanzarote for a week in December for a land based holiday but decided to take a cruise to see some of the other islands this time and also to enjoy the 6 sea days.
Embarkation at Southampton
Excellent service and within 45 minutes we were in our cabin and the luggage was already there.

we chose this cruise because we thought it would make a great change to sail to the Canary Islands instead of the med, our usual destination. We chose to sail with P & O having sailed on Britannia last year and absolutely loving her. Last year we holidayed with our daughter and grandson but this year we travelled as a couple. Because I have quite severe walking/disability issues we need to be near ...
This was our second P&O cruise having previously sailed on Oceana. We have also sailed with Thomson and Celebrity.
Embarkation was well organized: we had been allocated a time of 3pm but arrived two hours earlier as the traffic was light. We were given a card and we settled down expecting a long wait. However, 30 minutes later we had boarded and were in our cabin.
First impressions were ...
We choose this cruise because it was a golden wedding anniversey and husbands 70 birthday. And last year was an annos horribilus for our family with to of the family being hit by the big C.Although ok now , it took its toll.
Any way we arrived at Southampton with excitement and just glad to have reached this goal.We were very soon on board, and although the Ventura is definatly showing signs of ...
We have just come back from a cruise on the Ventura. We were on it in April 2016 and everything was ok. They seem to have cut costs on the food. Used to get 4 - 5 king prawns with a prawn cocktail now lots of little ones with no taste. Steaks have shrunk to half the size and depth also lacking taste. Breakfasts are good except for the toast. Tea time in the waterside buffet was not worth going to ...
