This was a 1st family holiday, booked by our daughter and SIL, travelling with our granddaughter and inlaws. We have all cruised many times before and after reading the poor reviews I went with very low expectations. I think many of the reviews are unfounded. YEs the ship is huge but rarely felt mobbed even though this was the Easter holidays and the ship was full.
Embarkation was a lot slower ...
Early misgivings over what to expect from recent reviews were dismissed as soon as we got to the Mayflower Cruise Terminal, boarding was seamless, from check in to a glass in hand was just 20 minutes, Our Deluxe Cabin starboard/aft was large with an extended non overlooked balcony. it was clean spacious with a lovely touch of Champagne and Chocolates, a welcome return of dressing gowns and ...
We had some non-refundable cruise credits that were about to expire so we booked this short Easter cruise - with some trepidation. We'd only done a couple of very short/overnight trips in the past and were concerned that this one might be a bit of a party ship which, at our age, might be a bit overpowering. Actually it went surprisingly well! We had a full ship with its usual share of hen parties, ...
What a Beautiful ship even if the central atrium is a little plain by comparison to the competition, the ship was kept spotlessly clean and in nice condition, we found the food on board to be very good by and large, although the main dinning halls menu could feel a bit repetitive, The Epicurean was well worth the extra money as was Shindu, we had mixed results from the Keel & Cow with a couple of ...
It was when Lorena, Sous Chef in the Horizon self-service restaurant, asked me on the first morning what sort of bread I preferred for my breakfast toast that I had an inkling that Aurora was going to deliver something special. The 65-night Grand Tour to the USA and Caribbean certainly did that, starting each day with seeded bread for my toast, baked by Lorena and cheerfully delivered to my table ...
Never been on a Christmas cruise or been away from home before at this time of year. It was a different experience with P&O staff making the experience special for passengers especially children.
We have cruised extensively over the last 10 years all with P&O and I do agree with comments re things are very different post covid on all their ships particularly regarding food choice in the main ...
This is our 4th time on Iona and once again a good experience. We had not done a Christmas cruise before and we were a little unsure but there was nothing to worry about. The organisation for Christmas dinner was perfect as was the meal itself. Just as the meal selections in the various restaurants throughout the trip were. We do not tend to go to Horizons very often but there seemed to be plenty ...
We booked this pre- Christmas cruise to Portugal and Spain because it was as cheap as a B&B and we were missing the sunshine. From our previous experience with P&O, we had low expectations but the Ventura is a nice mid-sized ship and we had a good time. The crew were good and the entertainment was acceptable but it was evident that P&O had "cut everything to the bone". In particular, the food was ...
This was our sixth cruise on Aurora since first sailing on her in 2002 and hopefully it certainly won't be our last.
This short cruise was booked in an effort to appease/satisfy the older element of our family, as only a month earlier we had taken a Marella fly cruise with the younger generation. Originally booked to accommodate mother in law who has mobility issues and is unable to fly, for ...
We were already booked on the Aurora for 16 night Baltic Cruise in May 2024 so when this mini cruise came up we decided to try it as a taster.
We normally cruise with Cunard but we liked the itinerary of the Baltic cruise and liked the size of the ship, and adult only was a bonus.
Having read some poor reviews of this ship, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. ...
