This was my first cruise with P&O and also a mega ship. Despite my initial concern regarding travelling with so many passengers I had read that Iona handles these well. Cruise critic even states this. However I think I must have a different opinion on what is meant by handling this large number well.
To give this some context I like to relax on cruises and find comfortable spaces to read and ...
Chose Arcadia for a number of reasons - been on before, adults only + Fjords for 1st time.
Few positives but many negatives.
Positives ...
We were in a balcony on Sun Deck which, according to deck plan, had a solid wall going aft and nothing above us. Wrong! The wall had 2 fire exit doors which were latchable from the inside and Sun beds above us that were usually laid out @ 7:17am on a ...
Due to family connections Malta is a regular destination for us. So a cruise around the med sailing from Malta meant we could combine 2 trips together. The boarding process was well organised and straight forward. The Azura is an older P &O ship and is showing signs of age. The cabin was clean and tidy and staff very helpful. We were in a forward cabin and the allocated restaurant was at the very ...
This is my 100% honest and unbiased review. I was on Arvia, I had a good time overall but I felt it was lacking in some areas and plagued with problems in other areas. Full disclosure that whilst onboard I got very frustrated with passengers and crew at times, but I still booked another holiday with P&O next year.
I am 39 years old and my wife is the same age and we have a 4 year old ...
No fly from southampton appealed to me. Embarkment and coach transvers very good.
Front line staff (waiters restaurants / buffets) all bar staff. Very professional with overall good service.
Inside cabin very clean with good attendant.
Food in complementary restaurants poor. Food in the buffet very good with quality meats etc.
First 3 days at sea just piped music no live entertainment ...
I would agree with some of the points raised in other reviews. My friend and I generally ate in the Horizon buffet due to difficulties being able to book space in the other restaurants. The My Holiday app cannot cope with the number of people using it.
We thought the entertainment was very good and so was the standard of food, even in the Horizon. A couple of the excursions were disastrous and ...
We booked this holiday last year before the ship was completed, we were looking forward to it but were very quickly disappointed. There is a capacity for around 5200 passengers.
• Embarkation - If you arrive at the correct time your boarding should be quick and easy but, take heed, if you decide to arrive early the this will be your first of many long queues!!
• Space - Our cruise was ...
So, right off the bat, I’m gonna say we judge cruises by the value we perceive i.e. for the money we paid.
So for us, for what we paid, we enjoyed this cruise and felt it was a positive one. We needed a break and this fitted with the time we were available to travel. We booked late and got a great deal. If we’d paid full price, we might not have considered it in such a positive light.
We’ve ...
Overall a disappointing experience. It doesn’t help to have seen the ‘salami slicing’ cost saving measures affect the quality of the cruise each year, having cruised with P&O ships mainly for over 20 years. The ship is rather tired and though the cabin size and layout (superior balcony) is good, it needs a refurb. Doesn’t help that we’re not told the times of flights before choosing an airport. ...
We are seasoned cruisers having sailed with TUI, Princess, Celebrity and with P&O multiple times and recognise that things can go wrong at times, but through experience, it seems that P&O come up short more than other cruise lines.
We booked on Arvia for two weeks sailing from Southampton on April 30th around the Spanish coast into the Med then over to Italy and France and back to Spain before ...
