Having just returned from our Caribbean cruise on p&o Arvia and having cruised more than 30 times .i have to congratulate p&o on reducing their standards to little above the average holiday camp .very poor service at all the bars staff that aren’t properly trained to handle the simplest of requests.4 times we had to ask for water in the cabin .my best friend was waved away from 3 different bars ...
It pains me to write this review, as we were so excited for 10 months for this holiday. We have been on P&O 3 other times and they were acceptable or even good experiences. Sadly this was our worst, and probably our last cruise (most definitely our last one ever with P&O).
For context we work in hospitality, so we really understand and value the hard work that goes into delivering good service, ...
We were on this ship last January (2023) and enjoyed it so decided to go again. We would not now repeat this as the second time was overcrowded with people who had obviously not eaten in proper restaurants and used knives and forks before!
Our cabin on deck 12 was very good and immaculately maintained. One reviewer has complained that beds were not turned down at night - this did not bother us ...
Well after our last cruise on Britannia in June 23 we approached this cruise with some trepidation and more than once had thought of cancelling it prior to departure.
I am pleased to say that our fears were totally unfounded, and we had a fabulous first Caribbean cruise for the reasons below. Was it all perfect? No, but the positives definitely outweighed the ‘not so positives’.
The ...
A nice ship, but it’s just way too big and service levels are very low. Doesn’t stand up to the other cruise lines we’ve been on. The staff work extremely hard, no criticism of them, but they’re faced with 5500 people at a very unfavourable ratio. Prepare to wait for things to happen, drinks, dinner bookings etc….it’s all very impersonal too. Cruising for the masses.
The buffet is to be ...
Picked this cruise as we wanted to try a newer and larger ship compared to our usual cruise line. We typically sail in the 2,500-3,000 pax range of vessels but got a good price and wanted to give it a go.
The ship is stunning and stylish with plenty of food/entertainment options which is great. Cabins are fantastic, sleek and spacious so no complaints there.
Our major complaint and downside ...
We've sailed with P&O many times, first sailing with them back in 2011. This was the first time we were going to receive 'priority' boarding, however our embarkation time was delayed due to the requirement for the ship to be deep cleaned after a gastro intestinal disease outbreak. We arrived on time for our delayed embarkation and waited two hours outside before we were let into the terminal. We ...
It was when Lorena, Sous Chef in the Horizon self-service restaurant, asked me on the first morning what sort of bread I preferred for my breakfast toast that I had an inkling that Aurora was going to deliver something special. The 65-night Grand Tour to the USA and Caribbean certainly did that, starting each day with seeded bread for my toast, baked by Lorena and cheerfully delivered to my table ...
Cruised Caribbean, December 2023. Multigenerational family visit with five cabins booked. Boat is very dirty and not well maintained. Food is very poor quality and hit or miss. Very poor vegetarian options with dried up salads or vegetables that have been overcooked and left out on the side for hours and then thrown on the plate. New Year’s Eve, for a vegetarian Daughter was a plate of salad or a ...
How does a company with this much experience get it so wrong unless they just couldn’t care less!
1 Case robbed in transit, sun cream and toiletries stolen. Other case was broken.
2 Flight chaos, aircraft wrongly configured
3 3 different seat allocations
4 Didn’t correctly honour extra leg room
5 No refund for allocated (paid for) seats not being available
6 Excursion in DR ...
