Good, but we know it could be better
"To be honest it wasn’t that bad at all, but what was disappointing was the fact that in the week no one mopped / cleaned the balcony floor once - despite it being obvious that it was marked and in need of a good jet wash / mop and bucket.Freedom Dining Having reflected on our cruise, I think it is fair to say that our experience of Freedom Dining on this cruise (in one restaurant) was the worst we have ever had on any cruise ship...."Read More

Poor dining and other niggles spoil a trip to wonderful Norwegian fjords

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Britannia

The greatest disappointment was the food which was universally poor and sometimes inedible. Even the specialist (££) restaurants did not have the highest standards. We had splashed out on a suite and expected a bit of pampering but other than priority boarding and a couple of cabin gifts we got nothing (£20 for drinks with the Officers? £20pp per day to use the private Retreat deck? £30pp for ...

A Mixed Bag

We enjoyed our cruise on Britannia. The dining room food was decent but a little repetitive. The buffet however was dreadful, the worst I've had on a cruise ship. Beating MSC which I never thought would be possible. Everything tasted bland and ultra-processed. I mean you have Indian chefs, why are the curries not cooked fresh? I'm pretty sure they use tinned curries. Finding fruit and vegetables ...

Cruising to Norwegian Fjords on P&O

Why Choose: Went on this cruise to experience the splendour and scenery of the Norwegian fjords. Had a wonderful week on the boat. Convenient to drive to Southampton, valet the car and get on the cruise ship with our entire family. Well organized at check-in and dropping off the luggage. We had 1 suite and 2 balcony rooms for 6 adults and an 8-month baby. Restaurants: We dined at all of ...

Great Expectations

Taking Mum to the Fjords was something she wanted so badly and for that reason the cruise was fantastic. I booked a wheelchair friendly cabin for her which had the bonus of a wet room, the cabin was very big and positioned midship close to the lifts, i was in an inside straigh opposite. Now the lifts, tip is to take your space a lift when you have a person of limited maneuverability ...

If you want disgusting food, then this is your ship! The buffet food was shocking. The speciality restaurants only slighty better , even with the extra costs and if you could get a booking. Entertainment was pretty.ok. Balcony room was fine and cleaned every day. I wouldnt go on this ship again. Scenery in Norway stunning. Staff helpful and generally friendly. People who have ...

Great ship and good service!

The Britannia is a good ship. Cannot fault the service. Balcony room was compact but met our needs. Balcony a little small, particularly when you want to sit there for an extended period. Entertainment was quite good and theatre was first class but other cruise lines have had more exceptional singers and dancers. One female singer and two male dancers stood out. Limited solo and group acts. ...

Amazing Outstanding Shows (Headliners)

We loved everything about this cruise. The meals it's hard to comment on meals as everyone has there own taste, we thought the variety was excellent from the restaurants to the buffet you could always find something you liked. But the Headliners shows were fantastic as expected with them all being professionals, I think a lot of people don't realise that these individuals have to go ...

This was our first cruise since the pandemic having previously sailed with P&O 8 times and Celebrity cruises 5 times. Our last cruise was August 2019 on the Celebrity EDGE and this was our 3rd cruise on Britannia having sailed on her when she was new in 2015 and again in 2017. We have always had an aft cabin on Britannia in the past and this time we opted for. We had read many comments about ...

Not the cruise ship for us

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Britannia

We chose this ship because the itinerary to Scandinavia sounded interesting and not an area we had been to before. On arrival in Southampton there were horrendous queues outside the terminal and we took 2 hours to board the ship. This was not P & O's fault as there had been an accident in Southampton but why were we not allowed into the terminal so at least we had somewhere to sit. We have ...
