Bit of a disappointment

Review for a Caribbean - All Cruise on Arvia

We wanted a trip to the Caribbean and this offered a visit to 2 islands we hadn’t been to before. However, we hadn’t realised that there were actually less port stops on this ship than on the smaller Brittania. So more sea days, with more people, and it seemed with less staff. We should have given up when we had difficulty booking online because there was a fault in the website which threw ...

Great ship, but the food lets it down

This was our 6th cruise and 6th cruise line. We booked it because the ship (Arvia) was new (and large), but primarily because the itinerary visited a few places we had not been to before. Overall I would rate this as 3.5 out of 5. The itinerary was 14 days from Bridgetown, Barbados visiting Road Town, Tortola BVI La Romana, Dominican Republic Philipsburg, St. Maarten St. John’s, ...

Britannia - the ship for people who want to forget they're on a ship!

Review for a Caribbean - All Cruise on Britannia

Tl;dr: Britannia is the ship for people who want the cruise experience while forgetting they're on a ship; beautifully decorated but strangely designed and lacking the service level you'd expect if you've previously sailed with P&O (though I want to believe this is due to specific problems P&O are currently facing which will be resolved in time). The flight to Barbados and embarkation process ...

Very Disappointed by P&O

We got a very good last minute deal on Britannia otherwise P&O wouldn’t have been our first pick to cruise with. If the itinerary, weather and local people hadn’t have been so brilliant we’d have been totally gutted! Food was a major disappointment. Really small portions of bland and under seasoned food in the MD Rooms. Buffet was the smallest offering I’ve ever seen at sea! First time we’ve ...

Ok, but could have been better

We’ve enjoyed our winter Caribbean cruises for quite a few years now. When we were younger we used to fly to Florida and stay one night in a hotel prior to boarding one of the big American ships, especially the Royal Caribbeans. But, as we’ve got older, we’ve found it much easier to fly directly to Barbados and get straight onboard a ship there. In the main, that means a choice between either ...

A resort ship not a cruise ship

Review for a Caribbean - All Cruise on Arvia

We selected Arvia due to the itinerary wishing to have a two week winter sunshine cruise around The Caribbean. P&O with the regional flights suited our requirements. Transfers to/from the ship from the airport were extremely efficient with a rapid embarkation process. Arvia is huge but getting around is fairly easy we had a midships cabin but used the stairs mostly as lifts were a ...

Cruising for the masses

Review for a Caribbean - All Cruise on Arvia

We love the Caribbean and my wife had always wanted to go on a cruise, so two weeks on Arvia exploring different islands was an obvious choice to celebrate that ‘special’ birthday. We went with 4 friends so a party of six in total. Flew from Gatwick to Barbados, flight was oaky and the transfer from the aircraft on to a bus and direct to the ship was very slick. Checkin and boarding were ...

Very average, not what I expect from P&O

Have cruised with P&O since 2004, and can unhappily say that this cruise was the most disappointing and not up to the standards I expected. On the plus side, it is still an advantage to have the flights included which means you don't have to collect your luggage at the arrival airport, you are taken straight from the plane to the port, next time you see your luggage is in your cabin, and on ...

Having been on a few Caribbean cruises previously with P&O (on Ventura and Azura) we thought we knew what to expect when venturing onto Britannia a few weeks ago…. The flight out from Gatwick on the TUI Dreamliner was great as expected and also it was a very smooth operation on getting registered etc at the port and getting onto the ship to get our cruise cards etc. Our suitcases also arrived ...

Do not be put off by the 3*.

Review for a Caribbean - All Cruise on Britannia

Walk on board it’s dark and colourless, drab dark wood walls, and following COVID an awful lot of formalities. Spend a day or so, with an open mind. It will grow on you. The staff, seem hand picked to please you. The food, if repetitive over a few weeks, is good, really good. If you are of an age, go to the main dinning rooms for proper service. The buffet for quick and easy, mount your plate ...
