First time back cruising after Covid. Wanted to dip our toes in to see how it was. And I was pleasantly surprised. We had booked a Byron Bay Mini Suite because I wanted to try out the club area. But a week before the cruise we were given an upgrade to a Suite. Don’t know why? But hey, I’ll take it.
I had read all the reviews on this forum and was a bit concerned about what we would find. But it ...
I was a bit worried after our recent experience with Holland America, but thankfully P&O haven't let standards slip too far trying to make up some money after not being able to sail during lockdowns.
Sure, there were a few "fee only" items, and some things on the menu that you paid for in the complimentary restaurants, but on the whole everything was roughly the same as before.
The food was ...
My girlfriend and I were lucky enough to be part of Pacific Adventure's maiden voyage. (Well maiden with P&O as she was purchased from Princess and is about 20 years old.)
I originally booked this "Comedy Cruise" 2 1/2 years ago and just missed going on it due to "the Rona". I think we were the first of the cancellations. So was fantastic to be able to finally take the cruise and get out on the ...
Our 4th Cruise on Encounter since restart.
We loved our cruise to PNG few years back on P&O and this one was just as good ( except one island short of last).
The main reason was the same as last, the people you meet and make friends with on this cruise.
Updates since last trip on ship - Julie the cruise director has gone to Adventure I believe, and Christiaan has progressed up from ...
Having not cruised for several years due to Covid, it was great to be out on the ocean once more.
The ship’s capacity is 2 600 but we were informed that there were only 1 600 people on board due to Covid restrictions.
PROS
Staff were obliging, friendly, happy and relaxed.
Common spaces have been revamped and look fresh and clean.
Food was good without being great.
Could always ...
We ended up with back to back cruises only because of old cancelled cruises thanks to Covid.
Whilst on the Covid subject. Previous cruise on 20th did not see any covid cabins as with previous cruises and same with this cruise. So if it was onboard didn't hear anyone discussing or mentioning it, mask wearing on each cruise is less and less. It is still mentioned on intercom but nobody enforces ...
Boarding very slow as usual, but same for all ships. Hard to believe they make you tip out your unopened water bottle before you can enter ship.
Entertainment - a bit slack really, the ship crew show was probably the best show up until final entertainer Grant Galea whom was excellent. Ship singers and dancers two shows were OK, but male singer voice was not so great.
Other late night shows ...
We originally chose this cruise just as a quick cruise to take our grandchild along for some time away, and the price was great.
After booking discovered it was The Elvis Tribute Cruise, this made us a bit worried as not Elvis fans, and 13y old grandchild didn't even know who it was.
But we were so happy with the entertainment by the Elvis singers and backup bands even our granddaughter ...
I have been on many cruises, however outstanding service on the pacific explorer - from food service, entertainment and housekeeping the explorer was great!
A big thanks to Thomas Naulana who did a brilliant job in housekeeping - second to none. I would walk in the room after a clean and was extremely satisfied with this. Not only did he do a great job with this he also helped me with any ...
It was the first cruise after a long pause and after many cancelled bookings we had to be on this one.
Our previous cruise was on Ruby Princess in Feb of 2020 so our wait wasn't as long as it was for others but being able to cruise again gave us a sense of freedom that we can now actually resume our lives.
The covid rules were obvious and while different didnt take away from the enjoyment of ...
