Firstly the bad. This was our 10th cruise and our first with P & O since 2013
Poor embarkation. We are in our 70's and were made to stand in queue for more than 90 minutes. We think P & O would have had enough practice to get it right by now. Our cabin toilet failed on four occasions. Thankfully it was fixed immediately. The hand wash soap in the rest rooms appears very watery. Watered down ...
This was our first experience with P&O Australia and our expectations were not high. The 10 night cruise was to Papua New Guinea and consisted of four ports and six sea days. This cruise was sold out.
Before we departed Brisbane Cruise Terminal the captain announced that due to civil unrest in Rabaul we would no longer be visiting that port. We were looking forward to Rabaul as this seemed to ...
We chose Pacific Encounter because the itinerary included ports in Papua New Guinea that we were keen to visit and sample the culture. The check-in system at Brisbane Port is diabolically inadequate! After standing in a long line for more than 100 minutes to board the vessel, we eventually made it to our cabin. While we were unpacking an announcement from the captain told us that due to ‘civil ...
I have previously cruised with Princess and Norwegian and for me, the Pacific Adventure is better. It is comfortable, relaxed, priced right and the food is generally good, though the breakfast in the Pantry is ordinary. The entertainment is generally excellent. The Marque shows are top shelf.
Also tipping is included. Of course you are free to tip if you wish. I don't quite get it, that most ...
We chose this cruise as it left from and returned to Auckland. So no need to fly. We wanted to show our girls a taste of the islands. Normally cruise Princess. But this cruise fitted in with school holidays and our not wanting to fly anywhere.
Had a pretty good time despite the weather not being the greatest. As a result we missed the 2 tender ports due to weather and also having to ...
We arrived at Brisbane cruise terminal at our allotted embarkation time. Still had to queue for two hours (less 5 minutes) until we boarded. From this point standing in queues is my main trip memory. I had problems with my room key and account. The queue at the reception desk took an hour and 40 minutes. Luckily, when I got to the front, the issue was quickly resolved. There were six (or it may ...
This was our 5th cruise with P&O over a period of 40 years. This will be our last. The standard has slipped dramatically after covid. It was our 20th Wedding Anniversary and we told P&O this when booking. Nothing was done to help us celebrate. Not even a card! Everything is aimed to get as much money off you as they can. Even a tour around the Ship to show you the galley and internal running of ...
Choose because of the deals really. Quality and service was next to none. Nothing was too much trouble! Food was plentiful and delicious. Choice of Pantry, which was sort of like a food hall, but included in price was choice of three amazing restaurants. I have been to 5 star restaurants and the service, and some of the food, was on par. We were treated like royalty. The captain kept us updated ...
We are a family of 5 (children 8, 6 and 4) and we travelled with grand parents. We enjoyed every aspect of the cruise, despite having some rainy and windy days. The only thing that we would have liked was for our rooms to be closer together as we all booked together, but we were still on the same level which was OK.
My children had a fantastic time in the kids club each day, which was great ...
I've cruised before (even on P&O's sister companies) and can honestly say that P&O is the worst cruise line. First of all, their customer service needed multiple calls to change incorrect information they had put in our booking. The Pacific Explorer is a 1997 old rust bucket that is dated and has mold and damp smells on most decks. There are also other foul smells which goes through the main pool ...
