"I do not understand why P&O are doing this, Aurora is a great ship, people love her but if it carries on at this rate the customers will desert her, and P&O.Good ship, lovely crew, good service and great food choices...."Read More

Disappointing

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Aurora

First Time Cruiser • Age 70s

23 years ago my husband helped to build Aurora in Papenburg, Germany. He talked sometimes of maybe having a short cruise on her for nostalgic reasons. We took the plunge this year when she was sailing to Amsterdam on a mini cruise on his birthday. We booked a suite certainly not cheap for 4 nights but we were excited at the prospect of experiencing her from a totally different point of view. As ...

You get what you pay for

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Aurora

As I said in my title, you get what you pay for. The ship is getting on and looks a little faded in parts. The food is nowhere the level you would otherwise expect on a cruise. But hey, you get what you pay for. What I don't understand is why people who come on having paid a P&O price, expect a Regent Seven Seas service. This is an adult only ship which quite naturally attracts a fair amount of UK ...

Great crew but ship needs refurbishment.

Positives: The included food was mostly good. The buffet had limited options but the menu changed daily and the food was always piping hot. The MDR food was good except for the deserts which I found very bland. The entertainment was very good particularly the Aurora orchestra and cast. The guest entertainers were above average too and we saw a different show every night of the cruise which ...

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Aurora

I chose this cruise as I liked the itinerary. I was dubious about going on the Aurora, but the fact that it was Adult Only helped seal the deal and the price was right. Why was I dubious about the Aurora? This was my 3rd trip on her, my first being in 2019 just before the pandemic. My experience then was great. Good ship, lovely crew, good service and great food choices. Having experienced ...

Not as grand as expected

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Aurora

This was my 4th cruise and the most expensive. I had high hopes for this one. I've done cruises on MSC, Costa and Norwegian. I was really excited to do a classy cruise, dressing up, nice meals, exciting sea days. We even had a mini balcony suite which was gorgeous. The cruise was Italy and Croatia. The weather wasn't the best, so the ships entertainment was very much needed and this is where ...

Not as good as usual

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Aurora

We love Xmas cruising and have cruised many times with P & O. Disappointing that every time we cruise standards get lower. This time cleaning poor in cabins and around ship. Cabin not vacuumed at all. Drinks selection in bars was poor. They are definitely under staffed in restaurants and bars. Difficult to get a drink. Waiters rushed off their feet although ours were very good. Shops used ...

Good food

This was my first cruise with P and O and I had high expectations. Sadly they were not delivered; the ships decor was in places “tired” although some of the bars , such as Adersons and the Crows Nest were very comfortable and restful. This was my third cruise this year and I was surprised to find issues re. staff shortages. Not all of the speciality restaurants were open, there was no turn down ...

We were first time P&O passengers on the Aurora although we have sailed with other companies. What follows is our experience and is intended to review but also to answer questions other new P&Oers might have. Every cruise is unique and two people on the same ship at the same time can have a very different experience. So, if I have said something you do not agree with or dislike, please just accept ...

Love this part of the world so booked this pre pandemic. Disabled cabin deck 11. Large, light and spacious. Quiet , clean spacious area of ship. Ancient small tv [not seen fot 20 years]. Couldn't see or hear from bed. Sat on edge of bed and i in chair next to it. Hard of hearing and still couldn't read any wording that appeared due to lack of clarity - and this in a disabled cabin! Very ...

A good cruise haunted by Covid

Review for a Caribbean - All Cruise on Aurora

User Avatar

10+ Cruises • Age 70s

Getting away after the pandemic was a priority and for us and Aurora promised a nice no-fly month away to the Caribbean. With 'some reassuring changes' apparently. A pretty standard itinerary calling at Funchal on the way out and Praia Da Vittoria in the Azores on the way home. Testing before boarding was straightforward and we were pleased to see the Peninsular Club lunch was on offer to get the ...
