Review for Aurora to Canary Islands

We have cruised with P&O on a number of occasions, and have particularly enjoyed those on the adults only ships. We liked Oriana and were disappointed when she was sold. So we waited for Aurora to be refurbished as an adults only ship and chose this 13 night cruise to Madeira and the Canary Islands to escape the fogs, rain and dark days of November. It proved to be a good choice! Embarkation ...

Call this a music festival?

We chose this cruise specifically because it was promoted as just that: a music festival at sea. Not everyone on board knew that. Which did, in the event, cause some grumbles. Embarcation was fine. On this occasion we had booked a higher grade which did reduce the waiting. Our cabin was a mini suite which we had chosen because, having travelled on this ship once before, we knew it to be of a ...

Aurora - First 2 Weeks September

Embarkation was really good. 30 minutes from terminal entrance to ships cabin. Disembarkation not so good. Seemed rather disorganised and ended with standing in a long queue for 15 minutes or so. Why do people wait until they arrive at the card reader post / person then start to open their bags or pockets to search for their card. We love the wide promenade deck on the Aurora. Lovely ...

The Aurora is a very comfortable mid size ship and very much the sister to the Oriana. Great curved stern which is no longer the style on more modern ships. Food is fine, not 5 star but standard acceptable with good size potions in dining room, however I don’t think the menu choice is quite as long as once was. But was did have a pefect position for our allocated table for two. The Horizon buffet ...

First time with P&O - but not the last

I would have given this a 5-star excellent but for the entertainment - more about that later. We chose this cruise for the itinerary and date as well as wanting to cruise with P&O and depart from Southampton. Also, the size and appearance of the ship suited our tastes as we don't really like the look of these huge floating blocks of flats. Embarkation was quick and efficient. Reading some of ...

We have cruised previously with Royal Caribbean, Carnival,Norwegian, Thomson and P&O, after a horrible experience with P&O ( I won't go into details suffice to say they have absolutely no customer service) we didn't want to go on this cruise but it was for a friends wedding and had been booked before we had the horrible experience so couldn't get out of it. We decided to go with an open mind ...

Mixed opinion, overall quite good

Recommended by friends to try the 'Aurora'. having experienced Adonia, Arcadia and Oceania. Aurora is a mid-sized ship, just how we like it not to small or large. We did know it was a 'Strictly' cruise but we chose this cruise for the destinations as we had not previously visited the Canaries. Embarkation at Southampton very smooth including free parking and we in our cabin by 2.00pm. At 4.00pm ...

Just returned home from a 12 cruise to the Canary's on board Aurora. Found the ship to be easy to navigate and clean on the whole but perhaps a little tired and the forthcoming refit is going to be a timely one. Food was fantastic in all the places we eat and it was a nice surprise when dinning in the Marco Pierre White restaurant to be joined by the man himself who we found very engaging and ...

we have recently returned from the christmas cruise to the canary`s apart from the rough weather which p&o have no control over the cruise went quite well mainly due to the efforts of the captain Neil Turnbull [who is up there as the best captain we have sailed with [16 with princess and 7 with P&O ] but our main complaint was with the food which was the worst we have had on any cruise!!! also my ...
