Great staff, shame about the class system and cost cutting

Review for a Antarctica Cruise on Viking Octantis

This cruise was a repositioning cruise which commenced from New York. We boarded in Rio De Janeiro. Therefore, many of the excursions were not available due to guests boarding in NY (being able to access excursions online much earlier and for kayaks and submarine trips in Antartica) as well as the "class system" perpetuated by Viking. (We booked Nordic Penthouse). We were due to stay in Port ...

I was totally excited to be going on this trip with Ponant to Costa Rica. Afterall great destination, French wine and french food... what is there not to like. Well was I sorely disappointed. The wine was mediocre and limited variety. At dinner many nights there was only one red or one white. The food was good not great(except for the special nights) and some of the meals were downright poor. I ...

Beware of The Uncruise Safari Voyager

We were interested in going through the Panama Canal and were looking for a cruise that also included some stops on the way. We also wanted to avoid too many sea days. When cruising, we normally book with the Seabourn but they did not quite fit the bill, although we have always been happy with them. We finally settled on the Uncruise “Ultimate Costa Rica and Panama”. We accomplished the stops ...

The actual cruise information preloaded above is WRONG! The dates were 18-26 Feb and the cruise was their new Belize/Guatemala Itinerary. this is a duplicate post from what I put in the National Geographic/Lindblad forum under Quest. The trip was 18-26 Feb 2018 on their new Belize/Guatemala Itinerary Back from the Quest for a couple of weeks and have let things sort themselves out in my ...

Nothing Special!

We did not find the itinerary very interesting. There was little effort to explore any activity in the ocean - no whales, dolphins, etc. We saw birds and land animals mostly. The captain was only 6 weeks with the line - so it seemed his job was only to get us from point A to point B. No one was ever in the bridge - so unlike the Explorer. We missed having a second lounge. The seating in general ...

Wanted to see this area and had been on Un-Cruise 5 times (Sea of Cortez, Northwest US and Alaska) on the Quest (smaller ship) and LOVED it! Pros: -the expedition staff was REALLY good and very enthusiastic. -3-4 levels of excursions each day. -Lots of good sights and hiking choices. Costa Rica (the main portion of the trip (is all hilly and mountainous) and quite hot! -We may ...

We took the expedition entitled: Panama to Costa Rica + Monteverde, Arenal Volcano & Tortuguero including a cruise of 7 nights + a Land Excursion of 7 nights. The Sea Lion ship is nice and well equipped with very helpful and nice staff and remarkable expedition team formed from many local experts. The embarkation and disembarkation went very smoothly and well organized. We must say the ...
