Diminishing entertainment on Marella ships

Review for a Caribbean - All Cruise on Marella Explorer

The ship as a whole is good, plenty of bars to visit, but my main concern with all the Marella ships that they have acquired in the past few years is the entertainment. The standard is very poor, this year was the worst it has been. their specialty acts they brought on for the duration of the Atlantic ocean was to be honest DIRE. I have seen better acts on my local social club, a tribute Take That ...

We chose this cruise for our honeymoon as it started in the Mediterranean and sailed across the Atlantic to the Caribbean. Can honestly say it was the best holiday of my life, however it was my first ever cruise so I have nothing to compare it to. We had an inside cabin on deck 4 which was quite small but I wasn't expecting any larger and we barely spent any time in the room anyway. The cabin ...

This was our first cruise. We picked it because so many people told us what a fantastic experience it would be . Everyone raves about the quality of food, the level of service etc that you receive and we thought it would be a great way to visit a lot of new destinations in one trip. We love the Caribbean and have spent many holidays on various islands and were looking forward to both re-visiting ...

Both myself, 44 and my partner of the same age travelled on this cruise as part of a "Cruise and Stay" package deal with Thomson. I carried out quite a bit of research beforehand with this being our first cruise as quite a few of our friends have travelled on various ships and cruise every year. We decided on the Thomson brand as a friend said this one was the best for entertainment for British ...

A friend booked the cruise and her companion dropped out so I took that place. Lots of interesting ports of call after boarding in Majorca: Cartagena Spain, Gibraltar, Las Palmas Gran Canaria (6 days at sea crossing the Atlantic), Antigua, St Maarten, St Kitts, St Lucia, Barbados in the Caribbean. The newly refurbished ship, albeit 21 years old and ex-Royal Caribbean, was very pleasant, not ...

I chose this cruise to mark my retirement. We had looked at a number of other cruises but saw this as a late booking and liked the look of the itinerary. We booked a Junior Suite (8060) on the port side so we would have the sun on our balcony during the 6 day Atlantic crossing. This proved to be very worthwhile as the usual sunbed reservation took place on the pool deck throughout the cruise. ...

Lovely ship and crew; shame about Customer Services prior to and after the cruise.

We have cruised on RCI, P&O, Princess, and this time Thomson Having sailed on the ship when she was RC Splendour of the Seas, first time with Thomson and thought we we try as she had been taken over by them. I will get the negatives out of the way first. Thomson website stated that you could bag drop at Gatwick the day before, as we have the extra problem of having a mobility scooter for ...

First ever cruise and first visit to the Caribbean

Review for a Caribbean - All Cruise on Marella Discovery

We chose this, our first ever cruise to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and our first visit to the Caribbean. We met the ship at Palma Mallorca, ferried by coach from the airport. On arrival we could tell who had sailed with Thomson before because Thomson staff were hugging returning guests whom they had obviously seen previously. This left us (cruise virgins) a little lost as to the ...
