Travelled with family to Alaska on RC. This was our first time cruising. We had a balcony which was great for viewing the scenery & wildlife. We had a soft drinks package & bought a few cocktails & some wine, which worked well for us. Paid for gratuities in advance, so we did not need to worry about tipping at the end.
Enjoyed the photographer on board & purchased a package.
The food was ...
We had been to Alaska on a Princess cruise about 10 years ago and loved it so we chose an Alaskan cruise to travel with our grandkids so that we could make memories to last a lifetime! We chose the Ovation for the ship activities to keep them busy when we were not touring in port.
The ship was great...the kids roller skated, did rock climbing several times, took the sushi making class which ...
Let me start by saying that I would give this cruise 4.5 stars if the system would allow. This cruise was amazing overall with just a few quibbles here and there.
Embarkation: Was nervous because I heard Seattle is a madhouse (or awesome, depending on who you ask) but we had an early check-in time and were on the ship in no time.
Food: We ate most dinners in the main dining room (my time ...
* Background Information
Full disclosure: I am a travel agent. I received free WiFi and $50 onboard credit for completing my Master of Adventure certification with RCI. My room was booked as part of a large group with my agency but not at a travel agent personal rate. In total, we had 67 staterooms and 144 people traveling. In my own party we had 11 adults and 1 infant across six staterooms. ...
We traveled with friends that thought Disney cruises were too expensive. But we found you get what you pay for.
Pros
- times in port were great
- big ship
- Solarium adult area very nice
- indoor pool, nice for Alaskan cruise
- friendly staff
Cons
- timing of shows versus dinner made enjoying both hard
- shows (while well performed) didn’t really have stories. They ...
We decided on an Alaskan cruise to celebrate our 20th anniversary. As per the title, this was our first Alaskan cruise, and after over a dozen Caribbean cruises, it was finally time to try something different. It was also our first time on a Quantum class ship, so we were looking forward to new experiences on and off the ship. Overall we enjoyed the ship and the itinerary, pictures and words are ...
My mom chose this cruise for me, and I had been on it before, so despite me trying to have little to no expectations I got more excited as it approached, and prepared and packed gleefully hoping it would be as good as before the pandemic. Leading up to the big embarkation day was a bit stressful with COVID tests and going into another country, not to mention packing smartly and everything ...
Oct. Sept. 29th, my husband and I boarded the Ovation out of Vancouver and ending in Sydney Australia. It started out badly as it took over 1.5 hours to get on due to the long queue in Security. The worst part of our cruise was the food. From the menu in the dining room to the choices in the Windjammer. What was available in the Windjammer was below average for taste and variety and those were ...
This was a 9 night cruise with 5 days at sea. Beginning in Vancouver with stops in Seattle, Maui and Oahu where we got off, its final journey was to Australia.
Ship was beautiful, about 65% full and still felt a little crowded though I do not think we waited in line for anything. Being a Diamond Members we have sailed on many different ships, this Quantum Class ship is really geared for ...
Chose this cruise to use up our credits from a previously cancelled cruise due to COVID. Chose Alaska since it wouldn't require us to fly to the port. As we were boarding, we were given an updated itinerary that stated we wouldn't be cruising the glacier due to "lack of sunlight". Royal should be able to figure out if they can offer a cruise or not due to lack of sunlight! It felt like a ...
