Fantastic Itinerary and Shore Excursions
"" She was very dismissive of questions being asked which was disappointing because it was our cruise and we caught COVID on their cruise ship - food that was delivered to our room as a result of being isolated was often only just warm at best - the internet that we paid extra for was often not reliable or unavailable - food in the dining room was a bit repetitive OVERALL Generally speaking, we really enjoyed our cruise and would consider another cruise in the future.- the ports of call were a definite attraction - the friendliness of the staff on board - the ease on which we embarked onto the boat - the shore excursions we chose were fantastic (or the ones we did anyway) - the choice and variety of food on board - food in the specialty dining room was excellent Lows - we contracted COVID (for the first time) on board and consequently isolated for 4/12 days on the cruise meaning we missed 2 of our eagerly anticipated shore excursions - we were delayed in getting off the boat because the infirmary had not provided a/our release - the time it took to get a coffee (sometimes up to 30 minutes) - the friendliness of one of the staff in the infirmary was questionable (eg...."Read More

Great trip, but you're going to get sick

Review for a South America Cruise on Oosterdam

Good crew, great route, good excursions, good food, but HAL does not protect the health of its passengers. So many sick people by the time we reached the middle of our 31-day cruise. Packed into the mainstage theatre shoulder to shoulder, it was a chorus of sick people coughing and hacking. Both of us got sick for over a week and most of the people we met on the ship were also sick with the ...

Great 31 day South American cruise

We had a great cruise! This was our second time on Holland America, we've been on several cruise lines including one of those "6 star luxury" lines and Holland is our top 2. The crew is absolutely the best, they are so friendly and always happy and taking care of the passengers. The food overall is very good and even after 31 days we were still enjoying it. We mainly had meals in the main dining ...

Tour arranged by Las Adventure was the highlight.

Our cruise was good. This was the longest cruise we've taken, 31 days. Our stateroom was nice. The bed was comfortable, although we did have it joined and there was a line down the middle. It wasn’t annoying though. Maybe if they put a mattress pad on then that would conceal it. We might have been able to get one but I didn’t ask. The pillows were really comfortable. There was plenty of room in ...

Trip of a lifetime

Our cruise through South America to Antarctica exceeded our expectations. Where do we start? The service on the ship was outstanding as was the food in the main dining room and the Lido deck. We got off to a rough start when we discovered our room was directly below the Rolling Stones Lounge, but the staff kindly moved us to a room with a balcony from which we could admire the icebergs in ...

Met expectations with room for improvements to recoup cut corners

Firstly, I am a fan of the medium size ships, so am biased toward the quieter, no outdoor movie screen scene. Entertainment I found satisfying to impressive (more below) although I would have liked an historian and naturalist. For some reason, I could not get the commentary in my stateroom on glacier row, but I didn't ask for assistance with it either. Cruise director was less omnipresent than ...

A very pleasant ship with excellent service personnel

Chose cruise for its itinerary. Hadn't sailed on Holland-America in many years but had concentrated on Celebrity and Princess for several cruises on each and were pleased with both of them. Oosterman proved a very pleasant surprise. Entire ship was in excellent condition. Excellent cabin for handicapped. Service personnel were also excellent. Most of entertainment was very good, especially ...

Wonderful Itinerary, Great Staff, Very Good Food, Lousy Entertainment

We took the 31 day cruise option (Nov 15-Dec 16 2023) - Fort Lauderdale to Buenos Aries with the express purpose of doing the Straits of Magellan. We have cruised HAL many times (we are 4 Star travelers) and have enjoyed every trip. This cruise was also a wonderful experience - except for the entertainment, will get to that in a moment. We stayed in a Neptune Suite and it was as has always ...

We flew from London Heathrow to Miami 2 days before the cruise via British Airways. Flight was on time and very pleasant with great food and service onboard. On reaching Miami we were transferred to Tony Hotel on South Beach where we stayed for 2 nights. Hotel was art deco style and in an excellent location next to many bars and restaurants. We had a very pleasant stay in Miami and did a hop on ...

Enjoyable Transatlantic Cruise

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Oosterdam

We chose this cruise because a Transatlantic cruise has been on our bucket list, we liked the itinerary, and we had two previous enjoyable cruises on HAL (one on Oosterdam and one on Zaandam). We have been fortunate that all three HAL cruises have been in a Neptune Suite, which is a special experience. This cruise didn't go as planned, because a large storm caused an itinerary change. We had ...

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Oosterdam

User Avatar

We chose this cruise with our friends because the ports of call were pretty close to where we wanted to visit in the Mediterranean. Also the pricing seemed to be pretty competitive. As with everything when we go on holidays, there are good and bad, pros and cons, highs and lows and this cruise was no exception. Firstly, the highs ... - the ports of call were a definite attraction - ...
