The itinerary was the main attraction, plus decent reviews.
I'll start with the positives. Embarkation was easy. Service in all areas was really good.
End of positives.
The ship rode poorly, even in fairly calm seas. Constant bumping noises & feelings for the first 2 days , for no apparent reason.
Stateroom ( Concierge Veranda ) - lots of creaking noises - had to jam pieces of ...
There were some islands on this cruise we've not been to before, which is the reason we took it. That & the wonderful food on board Riviera. We do need to stress that entertainment is rather bland on this ship. The food IS the entertainment. We're both in the food industry & this is a reason we've done 2 cruises on the Riviera. We'd have gone back in 2020 for another 14 days, but the only cruise ...
Let me start with the entertainment. First Rate. 12 Person very high end team dancers and Singers. Great shows. We saw three different shows in ten days. So well produced and choreographed. Beautiful costumes with many changes. And excellent recorded music. Sets and background video images on screens. Of the forty cruises we have been on, on Cunard, HA, Seabourn, Silversea, Regent and Celebrity, ...
We booked this cruise because of the itinerary. It was a 14 day mostly southern Caribbean Cruise. 2 sea days out of Miami and two sea days coming back at the end with 8 stops in between and 5 of those were places we had never been to. The stops were all mostly great, except for 2 I would not go back to/
Riviera is a larger size ship in the Oceania line up but still pretty small in comparison to ...
This was our 8th cruise with Oceania (our first was in the summer of 2014). There are definitely small indications that the line has cut back here and there over the years, but we remain quite pleased and will cruise with them again (we signed up for a trip next January while on board).
While we heard complaints about the food from some, especially in the Grand Dining Room and the Polo ...
Riviera 2018 Caribbean Cruise – January 23 – February 6, 2018
Why this cruise?
It had been over 12 years and 19 ocean cruises since we had last visited the Caribbean, so we felt that there had been enough time between trips, and there were a few ports on this itinerary which we had not visited on our first 6 Caribbean cruises. Also, we like Oceania, and had enjoyed our prior two cruises on ...
My wife and I have cruised over 80 times in the last 10 years. Typically on Royal Caribbean-Diamond Plus; NCL-Platinum Latitudes; Celebrity and Princess. All have pluses and minuses, but we are not new to cruising. Lately, we have cruised primarily NCL, due to knowledge of the staff and captains on the various ships.
We decided to try the upscale Oceania cruise line for a trip to Tahiti this ...
Cruise January 13-23, 2018 - Fourth time cruising with Oceania; second on Riviera. Beautiful ship, wonderful staff/crew, unbelievably excellent food, very talented string quartet who played at Oceania's enjoyable afternoon tea - as well as at other times around the ship.
Really enjoyed the fact that the ship isn't constantly trying to shake every nickel from your pocket for art auctions, ...
My wife and I generally travel on the luxury lines and decided to try Oceania for the first time in 9 years. We booked well in advance and chose the 100 square foot Oceania suite which was on the stern of the ship on deck 11.
In over 20 cruises in the past 10 years, this was far and away the best cabin that we have had. Service by the butler and stewardess was excellent. Booking the large ...
This was our first cruise on Riviera, our second on Oceania. Our previous Oceania was the Nautica, and our cabin had been a disappointment. Our apprehensions were dismissed the moment we entered our cabin on Riviera. It was a very good size, and most importantly, the bathroom was much much better than the airplane-size bathroom on Nautica. No 'Psycho' shower but a full bathtub and separate shower. ...
