Where to start: This ship is huge, but easy to get around. It's packed with people, but hardly feels that way! Do yourself a favor: reserve all of the shows, you'll regret it if you miss one. The entertainment is top-notch. Hairspray was great. The ice show was so well-done that you forget that the rink is so small. Come Fly With Me was so good, we saw it twice. The Comedy show was very funny, but if you can't handle the f-bombs, there's a family-friendly version on the last night. The Dive show was like nothing I've ever seen. The level of production was incredible, especially for a ship. I've seen shows on other ships and the Oasis made them look like a preschool play. The headliner was a Sammy Davis Jr-type of show, which we skipped"not my generation I suppose. Usually in the afternoon, they show a 3D movie and at night in the 2nd half of the week, there are movies in the aqua theater. The food: Not once did we eat at a specialty restaurant! I'm not sure what some people eat on a normal basis to where they would think that the dining room food was sub par. I could cut the prime rib with my fork, the lobster was huge and the overall quality of the food was 5-star! If you want more than one item, order 2! By the end of the week, our servers just assumed we wanted several items. We basically had a buffet! My Time Dining was great! We had a table for 2 every night and had the same servers, whom we were sad to say goodbye to. The staff on the entire ship was top-notch. I don't know how they do it. We were off the ship in Labadee for about 30 minutes. We live near the beach, so we wanted to take advantage of an empty ship and were so glad we did! In Jamaica, I hired a private guide (http://www.jaital.com/tours-and-excursions-in-falmouth-trelawny-jamaica-17.html) b/c I wanted to do more on the island than what the cruise offered. We had our own driver and he took us river tubing, Dunns River Falls and shopping. He took us to a local restaurant for authentic jerk chicken/pork. Cozumel was nothing but a money trap. Guard your stuff carefully"my wife's sunglasses were stolen and she just set them down for a second to get something out of her purse! This ship is not intended for people who just want to take it easy and read, sleep, etc. There is so much to do. The flowrider and zipline and ice skating are a blast and the lines are not that bad. The rock wall is challenging, but doable. The gym is perfectly adequate, but go in the afternoon b/c it seems like everyone wanted to get their workout done b/f 10 am. There are plenty of pools/jacuzzis and chairs available. The only complaint I had was the price of pictures. They are high quality, for sure, but 5 pics for $150 is outrageous! We took 600 pics, so we captured some good moments. If you want some photos of you all dressed up, look up a photographer in your area who can probably do it for a third of the price! Some Don'ts: 1) Don't get on an elevator just to go up 1 floor; use the stairs! 2) Don't think you're hot stuff if you can stay in 1 position on the Flowrider for a long period of time; there are people waiting. One guy just stayed in 1 position for 5 minutes while his wife took thousands of pictures to where the staff had to pull him off. 3)Don't argue with the comedians, then get highschool-hurt if they embarrass you! 4) Don't save seats after they clearly state "Do not save seats". I thought it would be a great idea. The service was very bad. The bathroom was not working according to the front desk they were going to send someone to the room, but they never did. The staff forgot my anniversary and to sit at the dining table and watch other people being song to for their anniversary and being given cake with happy anniversary was a slap in the face. I was told water would be brought to my room, but that never happened. We could not enjoy a slice of pizza without staff members coming up to us asking if we wanted to eat in other dining areas for a small fee (29.00-35.00 each). The food that was served was the same food over and over. Who wants to take a trip and eat the same food that they eat at home????? Roast and rice is served 24-7... This was the worst trip ever and not worth my two thousand dollars..... Read Less

The ship and the port is close to our home, the staff was friendly and the service was great. we love Royal Caribbean. the dining in the dining room was great, the windjammer service was great the food selection could of been better. the room was clean and the room attendant did a great job, room was always clean and Ryan always took care of our needs. the staff in the dining room table 150 was great, never had to ask for anything. the entertainment was not the best, we have been on other cruises when the entertainment was great, not real impressed with the shows. The ice show was good and the water show was good, as far as the shows in the theater we were not impressed, cats was too long and Abracadabra was not the best. like i said we have seen better entertainment on the other cruises we were on. We booked a Junior Balcony Suite on Oasis. I'm an introvert so the only way I'll cruise with my husband is if I have a quiet suites-only restaurant and a quiet ocean view balcony. This helps me not get overwhelmed by people. For the last 10 years, it's worked. Until... Before we left, RCL called and offered us an upgrade to a Loft Suite for $800. The rep said it was an amazing deal, beautiful suite, we'd love it. He said other reps were calling other passengers with the same offer so we had to hurry. We asked if it was still an ocean view. He said yes. We took it. We got to the ship. Oh. My. God. This suite - #1736 - was RIGHT BEHIND the sports deck. The view was of the basketball court. The "ocean view" was a sliver of water over the top of the basketball court, the FloRider, the AquaTheater, about half a football field back. People played basketball from dawn to 11 p.m. right outside our window every day. We had no privacy and had to keep the curtains closed. There were constant announcements from the sports court and zip line. It was so loud. There was norovirus outbreak so maintenance workers were out between 3 and 4 a.m. yelling and using power washers every morning. Smoke from the stack (right above us) blew right onto our deck and into the room if we opened the door. Now I know why they were trying to unload this room cheap. We had other problems, our on board promo credit for the 100 hour sale never showed up and the concierge said she couldn't do anything about it. The TV that goes into the ceiling right over the bed would fall in the middle of the night and the attendant said it couldn't be fixed. There was velcro EVERYWHERE holding drawers and sliding closet doors shut because this suite gets so much vibration. As soon as we got on board the suites-only restaurant was booked solid. There were always people 50+ deep at Guest Services. We called Customer Service as soon as we got back asked for a refund of the upgrade fee. They said we should have resolved it on board according to company policy. I asked if that was a written policy. She said "No, it's just normal. If you've really been cruising on RCL for 10 years you would just know that." She literally said those exact words. We *really have* been sailing RCL for 10 years (we have the tens of thousands of dollars in receipts to prove it). We are great tippers. We never complain. We make our own bed. We're nice, happy, loyal cruisers. I can't believe RCL took advantage of us and treated us this way. Incidentally, I filed a complaint with the BBB and noticed that RCL gets three stars and Disney gets great reviews. Hope that helps you make a decision. Now, about Oasis: Good stuff: Service was great. Super friendly. Liked the suites-only sun deck, which became important when I couldn't use my own balcony. Loved the wine and tapas bar. Ports have clearly improved. Up to you if it's bad stuff: With this ship, RCL is clearly vying for Disney dollars. It's gaudy as heck and clearly aimed at little kids and young families. Everything points inward instead of at the ocean and the view. Oasis is not a ship for adults or people who want to relax. It's constantly "on" 24x7, it's loud, it's huge, and there are so many people (6,500) that there are lines everywhere, for everything. (I felt bad for the little ones who had to stand in line for everything they wanted to do. They got tired. They melted down. Parents once drawn to "so much to do" regretted how far they had to walk their littles to everything.) The ship is an engineering marvel, but it's more like a constant party (not a drunk party - more like a forced carnival party) 24x7. If you enjoy drinking and gambling, this is for you. If you like looking at the ocean and relaxing, you're out of luck - there are no shady, quiet places to get away on this ship. It's 100% about sports activities, shows, and little kids. I will also say because the ship is so tall it catches more wind. It definitely moves around more than other ships and I saw more people seasick on this boat than any other I've been on in 10 years. Also, with 6,500 people, norovirus risk increases, and surprise! There was an outbreak. Oh, and they started charging $8.00 for room service, even in suites. EVERYTHING had an up charge. Crazy. This cruise was a Christmas gift for my wife and I for our 30th anniversary. We were not sure what to expect. We could have not chosen a better cruse line or ship. The Oasis of the Seas will not disappoint. Here are 5 things you should know as a first time cruiser: 1) Packing: You do not need an entire wardrobe. pack rather lightly but take one or two pair of dress clothes and a tie for the men. 2) Shopping: The items on the ship are pricy. Great deals at the ports of call. At Labadee do not go near locals. They would not give me back my change! 3) Use room service. it is free. You will enjoy visiting the many food venues but enjoy a morning or late night on your balcony. 4) Stay disconnected! You can buy internet access but take the opportunity to disconnect from work, friends, email, social media. Make it a real vacation. Relax.... You will be offered a deal on internet access a few days before the end of the cruise. If you must, you can connect then. But at least take the first few days to put down you phone and computer. You will feel the stress melt away. 5) Plan an excursion. We did not because we wanted to experience each town we visited. I must say that I did not feel comfortable outside the port walls in either Jamaica or Cozumel. I wish I had signed up for an excursion. You can swim with dolphins, raft down a river and climb waterfalls. The added bonus is that some of the excursions are a couple of hours drive from the ship which means that you get to see the town as well as the countryside on the way. I would not consider this an honest and objective review if I did not share a couple of potentially negative comments. 1) Plan on $110 parking fee for leaving your car for a week. I know this is typical and similar to an airport but it still stings. 2) Food is usually good but not quiet as good as I expected. I realize they are cooking thousands of meals each day but even though most of the food was very good, I did get a couple of disappointing meals. But good news, just order something else. You can have as many as you wish. 3) My wife had a spa treatment on the last day and the spa gave themselves an unapproved $20 tip..... Maybe that is customary but I felt it was a little tacky. I truly hope this helps you if you are a first timer. Do not hesitate if you are trying to decide. It is a great time. The ship is huge but you will eventually find your way around. If you are worrying abut getting sea sick, for the most part you can barely feel the ship moving. We did have one day of 10-17 foot waves and the ship was a little unstable. My wife got sick for one day but got over it quickly and it did not negatively impact our trip. Our next cruise will be the Eastern Caribbean. I hear the ports are a little nicer. Read Less

Selected the Oasis for cruise length, departure port (we live in central FL) and to try a big ship with lots of amenities. Reviews for Oasis looked OK, not as high as Disney but better than Carnival/Norwegian. Embarkation was a disaster. Our stateroom was occupied (luggage open, clothes out, shower recently used - but no one in the room) when we opened the door at 2 PM. Customer service told us our room was “blocked,” we shouldn’t have been assigned the room and that they would have a room available an hour after departure – immediately asked for the manager - the CS Manager told us this was unheard of, that she would determine the cause and get it corrected - we told here we don't care about the cause just get us into a stateroom - same story, wait until an hour after departure - she told us to leave our bags in the passageway outside the stateroom until we had a room (that sounds safe - not) – we refused, so she told us to bring them to the customer service desk – again, we refused and said Oasis crew could move the bags. The CSM could/would not guarantee the stateroom we would eventually get would be our class stateroom or better (ocean view balcony) – without that guarantee we would not sail. About 10 minutes before the ship sailed the CSM was able to figure out we could use our stateroom, a contractor had been put in the wrong stateroom (ours - 2 doors down needed the repairs) and as soon as the room was refreshed (530 - an hour after sailing) we could move in. When we got back to the stateroom the head was NOT clean, stains on the toilet, etc. Floor attendant said the stains couldn’t be removed – got the deck supervisor involved and we were able to show them both how to remove "stains" - nearly 5 minutes of effort was required. Finally had a clean room - after 6 PM, over 4 hours since first opening the door - just about enough time to unpack and get ready to be 15 minutes late for dinner at Chef's Table (see below). CSM called that night to ask how we were doing – and offered to get us “appropriate compensation” for our time and trouble. CSM eventually (late the next day when we went to her and asked) offered us 40% off our next cruise as compensation (knowing this was our first – and now honestly our last – cruise on RC). She “could not” offer either a beverage package or internet package as immediate compensation on this cruise when we asked – not "in her authority" and eventually credited us with a shore excursion during the Jamaica port call and inclusion in the “behind the scenes” full ship tour. Inadequate at best. On the 3rd day the room steward noticed my companion got some makeup on her RC robe so he sent it out for cleaning – good catch – but apparently there are 2600 staterooms and NO extra robes onboard as we had to wait for the next day to get the cleaned robe back from the laundry. Food: Only great food experience was the Chef’s table – excellent all around, highly recommend it, but steep at $95/each. Room service breakfast was good. Food in the main dining room is pedestrian at best and intolerable at worst (example – the “lobster bisque” was the consistency of thin tomato soup – no lobster). Seafood soup in Giovanni’s Table (another fee restaurant) contained shrimp and oysters – the shrimp still had the shell on the tail and the oyster was still attached to the shell – apparently on RC soup is finger food (we know dinner leftovers are used in soup – could you make it a LITTLE less obvious). The rest of the meal at Giovanni's was not much better. Food safety is also a problem – at Izumi Hibachi the chef dropped a piece of cooked chicken on the table, then picked it up (using his utensils) and put it back on my dinner companion’s plate (ever seen the rag they use to clean the tables?). During dinner in the main dining room a replacement knife was brought to the table by a waiter holding the knife in his bare hand - by the blade, not the handle (this was caught and corrected by the headwaiter). The french fries at Johnny Rockets were fantastic – until we found several with blue/white hard droplets on them (waiter took them back – came back out an apologized and said they believed some of the plastic bag the fries are packaged in got into the fryer - that seemed a reasonable explanation – and comp’ed us one of our two lunch fees - $6.95). During the ship tour one of the head waiters gave a demonstration of how a table is set for a formal night (the rest of the tour was quite interesting) – had the waiter's assistant made a big show of putting a glove on his right hand to handle plates/utensils while he talking about RC's commitment to food safety, then the assistant picked up a stack of butter plates using his ungloved hand with his thumb in the center of the food area on the plate - apparently unnoticed by the headwaiter. In Cozumel the starboard side of the ship was being cleaned – apparently you cannot pull into a pier with the port side of the ship so as we were leaving the ship we were rained on with the wonderfully clean water from the cleaning of the ship – nearly the entire length of the ship as we left from the forward gangway – guess no one thought to close the forward gangway while cleaning the ship. Labadee, Haiti - do the zip line - it's expensive but quite a thrill. Falmouth, Jamaica - did the combined Dunns River Falls climb/Swimm with the Dolphins experience - both great, wonderful guide, but took up the entire day, left only 20-30 minutes to shop in the port. We sent a letter to the RC CEO with the details of the embarkation, never heard back (same week that Majesty of the Seas was delayed leaving Port Canaveral due to a failed USCG inspection so he and his customer service VP may have been a bit busy). This was only my second cruise (first on Celebrity Silhouette - a very good experience), my companion has been on four previously (MSC, Carnival), this was our first and will be the only RC cruise we ever take. I really, really wanted to love this cruise. My parents booked it for our family plus my fiance for a final pre-wedding family vacation. It was dreadful! I had read so many positive things about this cruise, I was flabbergasted at how terrible it was. I even paid the .65/minute for WiFi to re-check I had read the right reviews! Getting on the boat was a breeze, everything else was a hassle. We had dinner reservations via My Time Dining the first night. Our waiter & waiter's assistant must have been having a terrible day. My mother ordered a glass of wine, they left the rest of the table drinkless to go run our Sea Pass card and bring back the receipt. My father asked for a roll and it took no less than 15 minutes for the assistant to return. The food in the dining room was mostly good but the service ruined it for everyone. The other nights in the dining room were better, but the final night a manager was walking around asking about the surveys we would get the next morning. We explained to her the trouble we had had the first night, and she literally sat at our table interrupting our dinner for the next 5 minutes trying to get us not to leave a bad review. Seriously? To top it off, the dining room manager almost got into a fist fight with a patron! The guy was clearly upset about something, slammed his table up & sent plates and glasses flying. They asked him to leave and the dining room manager literally had every curse word imaginable flying out of his mouth. I wondered if they were having some sort of serious political/religious issue because it was heated...but still funny. "Get the **** out of my dining room!" His response? "We're on a BOAT! Where do you want me to GO?!" Mornings we had our breakfast delivered to our room. We learned very quickly to specify exactly what you want, but you still won't get it. I wrote very clearly on the form that we only needed yellow sweetener with our coffee. I also had to specify which pastries we wanted with our tray, otherwise we got a plate full of sourdough rolls and no croissants. We never got yellow sweetener in our room all 6 days we pre-ordered our breakfast. Aside from the service, we spent a majority of our time waiting...mostly for the elevators. Had I not been in heels most nights, I would have used the stairs more. Want to eat at the Windjammer? Wait! My Time Dining? Wait in line, then wait in the chairs! Even when we went to empty Johnny Rockets, we waited 5 minutes for a table then another 10 in the sun while waiters stared at us and never came. We left and went to guest services. Giovanni's was by far the best food & service, waiter was amazing. The Seafood Shack was great too, a few people we met would only go there for dinner. Do not ask for ice water - it comes with complimentary snarls and eye rolls. I'm sorry! It's 90+ degrees and I can't ONLY drink liquor! I'll be 26 in August and had a hard time getting served alcohol. I look young, but a few bartenders tried trickery. I asked for a mango pineapple frozen rum drink. I watched the bartender pour juice in the ice-blendery machine and slide it over to me sans rum. He looked flabbergasted when I asked where the liquor was?! He poured Myers on top of it and charged me my $9. My 19-year-old brother had no problem being served anywhere we went though! The shows were what kept me from total insanity. The water show was dreadful though, not remotely synchronized and frankly pretty weird. They also need to fix both of the big monitors and the sound system. The last morning starting at 8:00am they blasted the beginning of a Bon Jovi song for 20 minutes until they figured out how to turn it off. Hairspray was fantastic, the comedy show was AWESOME! They spent the entire time ragging on the ship - hitting on everything we all knew to be true. Don't speak English? Here's a Royal Caribbean application! Need ice water? Here's your spit! Haiti was contrived like Disney World, but the food was better than anything we got on the boat aside from Giovanni's. Jet Skis were fun, but we were with a lot of slow, scared people so we had to drive for 30 seconds then stop and wait for them to catch up. They make a point to swing you by the canoe sellers though! Jamaica was a mess. It was my first time there and I spent it on a tube tied to 8 other people moving at a snail's pace and being eaten alive by mosquitoes. Just make sure you know whether it will be high or low tide if you book that excursion, low tide is like floating through two feet of marsh mud. At least our guide sang Conway Twitty when he got tired of the generic Bob Marley. He also said during high tide, the tube ride is much faster and you get to go much further down the river than we did. Mexico was a godsend - we did the jeep & snorkeling excursion. The guides were perfect. We went all around the coast then back through the city to literally see every part of Cozumel. They even let us have the automatic 4-door jeep so our family of 5 wouldn't have to split up! All in all, I wanted to love cruising but it just isn't for me. The boat & cabins were really pretty and I appreciate what they tried to do but I could definitely tell there were 6,000 head on board and most of the crew seemed generally unhappy with life. I understand they are on the boat for long periods of time, but there are plenty worse jobs out there! If you love being in a small pool with 100 other people and waiting 10 minutes for an elevator to take you to the dining room with mediocre food, this is the ship for you! Read Less

Cruise on the Oasis if you like 1. to be herded like cattle everywhere you go 2. enjoy standing in lines for everything you do 3. enjoy waiting all day for elevators 4. enjoy waiting more than an hour every time you need to speak to customer service 5. to pay for almost everything as an extra 6. have the worst main dining room food of the major cruise lines, just as bad as carnival main dining room 7. be told to GET OUT of the buffet while you are eating 8. been bombarded with sales pitch for everything on top of all the other extras they charge you for 9. have disgusting food as your only only 24 hour food option in the Promenade Cafe 1. to be herded like cattle everywhere you go 2. enjoy standing in lines for everything you do We sailed Christmas week and there was over 6,300 passengers and almost 3,000 crew on thse ship, that is over 9,000 people. There was not one place you could go to get away from crowds, except the cabin. Everywhere we went there was a line. 3. enjoy waiting all day for elevators Waiting for the two sets of elevators, one set at the front and one set at the back was always a tiresome. Most time by the time the elevator got to the floor we were waiting on, it was packed, so you have to wait for another elevator or a 3rd elevator. Many people just got on any elevator regardless of the direction. 4. enjoy waiting more than an hour every time you need to speak to customer service Seriously, 5 to 6 customer service reps for a ship with over 6,300 passengers, do the math. It would not be so bad if they didn't mess up every request we made. Customer service should be at least 3 times the size, but RCCL doesn't care about customer service, they only care about charging you for everything they can. Also, once to do get to a customer service rep, they are very rude, they could at least act as if they cared about our concerns. 5. to pay for almost everything as an extra Remember these words before you get on board HOW MUCH IS THAT, as they charge for everything, even room service. They even have paid food from the specialty restaurants on the main dining room menu, a first on any cruise ship. But they dont put that first in the brochures or on the web site. 6. have the worst main dining room food of the major cruise lines, just as bad as carnival main dining room The food the whole week was almost inedible. I actually lost 3 pounds on this cruise and I normally gain 5 pounds on other cruises. That is how bad the main dining room food is and that is why they add paid items to the menu from the specialty restaurants. To get good food, they force you to go to the paid speciality restaurants. More ka ching for RCCL. Also the food in the much heralded Central Park Cafe is OK, but not great, but when you don't have anything good to eat, it becomes great food. 7. be told to leave the buffet every 15 minutes while you are eating One day while we were having breakfast in the windjammer buffet, they were blasting an announcement on the speakers so loud we couldn't even talk. IF YOU ARE FINISHED GET OUT. I couldn't believe it, another first RCCL doesn't place in the brochures or web site. The nerve of RCCL, everyone paid a lot of money and I mean a lot of money to sail on the ship and to be told IF YOU ARE FINISHED GET OUT repeatedly is ridiculous. 8. been bombarded with sales pitch for everything on top of all the other extras they charge you for It is impossible to take a walk in the promenade without been asked to buy something. Come on RCCL, cut down on the sales and send more people to actual provide customer service to the people sailing on board. 9. have disgusting food as your only only 24 hour food option in the Promenade Cafe I have a real beef with the only 24 food option available on the ship. Promenade Cafe is a small pick your own food restaurant. First there is never any place to sit, RCCL only has 1 overloaded person cleaning the tables, everyone else is selling. Second, the small sandwiches that are served are completely disgusting. No one that is starving would even eat that food. The only other option is room service, but wait for it, they charge you to deliver the food to your cabin. More ka ching for RCCL. We paid 35,000 for 4 balconies on this ship. What a waste of money and a waste of a week of our lives. Never again RCCL. Read Less

Decided to propose and get a fancy suite for the occasion. The strawberries and champagne were to arrive night one at 8pm. After it got to be 8:30, I called room service and they indicated they would call back. Never heard back. When I spoke with concierge the next day, they said I requested for the following day. After I showed my email with the correct date, didn’t even receive an apology. Was just trying to make everything special and the flow of the proposal was kind of thrown off. When they did arrive the next night, the card even reference the date from the day before. Other issues: Pictures from our 1st night never showed up on our picture card. Sad we never got them back so we setup a studio appointment at picture this. Very nice photos but extremely expensive. The packages went up to $3500, with the cheapest being $550 for 6 digital pics. Water in shower suite fluctuates from Luke warm to scolding hot constantly. Crew pressure washing windows at 2:30 am on two separate nights. Waited for 30 minutes in excursion line in Mexico and no one ever showed. When we called, we were told it was there and we didn’t go. We may have made an error and went to the Liberty excursion line, but the signage was very poor. Regardless, we didn’t any cared after they got our money. The positives were the dining experiences at the specialty restaurants. Probably the best part of the experience and we’ll worth the price to upgrade. 150 Park is the best of them. Another positive was the unboarding process with a suite. We were out in 15 minutes and avoided all the lines at customs. Overall, I was very disappointed and didn’t feel I got the value for what we paid or that anyone cared about the issues. I’ll probably pay a few extra bucks and try Regent next time. Read Less

We were super excited about going on the biggest ship in the world (it was when we booked it, then the Symphony came along and ruined that plan :) ) I had written a nice long review about the ship and its features but opted for an easier to read version. The boat is huge but still crowded. there aren't enough seats inside to house everyone at night, especially if its raining and the aqua theatre is closed. Don't believe me? there's a lounge for suites guests so they can go relax in their own little haven away from the 6000 other guests. Food: Windjammer - basics like burgers and hot dogs are on at lunch and dinner, and are cruise ship average. Entree options are decent for lunch and dinner, if a little bland. Food is constantly cold. Honestly didn't eat a hot meal in windjammer my entire vacation. Main Dining Room - Options are good. Food was hot, service impeccable. Food was too salty for me but still a decent option. The Smart portion of Smart Casual attire wasn't enforced. I noticed a fair number of guests dining in Short and T's or baseball jerseys without an issue. Sabor Mexican Grill - Food was great, service was average. Entertainment: You MUST pre-book your entertainment and you MUST attend on the night you planned to see it. if you don't, you'll have to queue at Guest services to rebook or remove your reservation, and who wants to stand there while you are on holiday? Comedians were good, one was a little racist, but not in the usual funny way, sounded more like an angry drunk than someone pointing out the cultural differences in an entertaining manner. Ship: For it being a $5million a week boat it certainly doesn't look like it (6000guess x $750 = $4.5m, I rounded up as 750 is the inside cabin rate) The ship is generally unclean, the windows are streaky, there's dust everywhere (look in the corners) and it just looked generally dated. Would I go again?: No. I can excuse the ageing of the boat, it is getting a bit older. I can excuse the food, its impossible to cater to everyone taste. I can excuse the weird booking system for shows. What I cant excuse is all of them together. Too many little things on board made it difficult to enjoy. For our 30th anniversary and we have never been on a Royal Caribbean cruise but we have heard how great they were. The room was very small and it was a balcony. The steward was excellent . The main dining room is good and the service was excellent but they should have a better menu selection. The buffet was good but very crowded . I like how they find a table for you but the menu was only ok. The recreation activities were excellent with no crowds. The 150 Central Park restaurant was excellent but the other fancy restaurants are too expensive because they have fees + a la cart options . The shows were all disjointed and made no sense. They do have some very talented performers but not good story lines. The fitness and spa area was over priced and there fitness staff is unqualified but that is the same on all cruise lines. They promote alcohol way too much and shopping is too much also. The cruise director was very low energy and boring. We had issues with our excursions because my wife was sick and customer did nothing to try and fix it. Labadee Haiti was beautiful and I will go back. The ship is huge but very easy to navigate. Second time on Oasis, fourth overall time cruising with RC. I was a loyal customer to RC, first two times cruising were on Freedom Class ships. Went on Oasis 2 years ago and had a blast, just back from Oasis, not pleased. So I'm going to jump around I'm sure while I type this out so I apologize. Lets begin with our first stop, the beautiful RC resort of Labadee. We never got off. Unfortunately, last minute the captain came over and said we were not going to be docking due to the waves coming over the pier right where its about to connect to land. We were no more than 25-30 feet away from the pier and ready to dock. I got up early to watch and was able to see the waves going over the pier, yes they were splashing over but it was not terrible. The forecast was for a sunny day. My complaint is, there was no waiting a little bit to see if things got better. I say this because the wind was dying down and the sun was supposed to come out. We just pulled back out and left, no explanation from the captain that the weather forecast was not favorable for the waves to die down in the near future. Just backed out of the port and left. Good news was we were going to get into Falmouth two hours early. Great, right? Wrong. We booked an excursion and due to the meeting time, would not have enough time to explore. You'd think since were going earlier, our excursion would be earlier right? Wrong. Prior to the new arrival time, we had accepted that exploring outside of the excursion time frame was not feasible. But with the new arrival time, we were initially excited but in the long end of it, didn't mean anything to people who booked excursions. We did the Dunns river falls and bamboo beach club excursion. yes it was neat to see the falls but you spend 1/4 of the day standing/sitting around waiting and a 1/4 of the day driving (that's understandable). Also to the two older Danish women who were on my bus and i hope read this, thanks for wasting 45 minutes of everyone's time trying on 10 pairs of water shoes, we should have left you on that island. FUN FACT: I was told from multiple people that Disney and RC were going to stop going to Falmouth and ending their contract or however they do it. Why? The island is supposedly dangerous (haha) and the people are very pushy. But due to the recent hurricanes and destruction of other ports, RC was "forced" to sign another two year contract. The last stop was Cozumel, which the captain said would be partly sunny. So we booked a last minute beach excursion because we missed the beach time at Labadee. It poured ALL DAY. So the frustration was high. Side note, if you do a beach excursion that includes alcohol, be weary of the bottom shelf tequila your served. You may find yourself basking in the sea enjoying your down pouring cloudy day, to gargling sea water and dying on your beach chair. (gotta make light of this all right?) Great i think that covers the ports. NEXT! RC i think cut out a lot of daily at sea activities compared to my time on Oasis two years ago. Which i have no idea why. But what they do have now for activities is still pretty good. Booked the comedy show for an at sea day online well before the cruise date because its impossible to get in if you don't. Well for some reason it never showed up when we got onto the ship. Went to guest services and they couldn't do anything because the shows now, were all booked. Very frustrating. Anyone going on this ship in the very near future, look at the air intake vent right above your cabin door inside the room. Use your flashlight on your phone so you can see inside the vent. Yes you will be breathing that all in on your trip. For those wondering, it was caked in dust and god only knows what else. It was absolutely disgusting. I don't blame the stateroom attendant because its clearly a HVAC persons job since then vent cover has screws that need to be undone to clean inside of it. That's definitely not the state room attendants job. Room was cleaned at least twice a day and have no complaints there, she did a great job. Dining room was great and staff were fantastic. Food was great in there. Windjammer cafe, well its buffet food, it was as good as buffet food will ever be. Bars were great but service on the pool decks was very slow, but then again those were at sea days and the weather was great so there was a lot of people on the decks getting lost in the sauce. Staff in general were great but did occasionally find a bartender who seemed grumpy, but with that many guests, I'm sure they had their fair share of impossible to please guests. If you decide to hang out in the the Solarium on one of those fantastic looking lounge chairs. Just be weary and double check them before you commit to that one. Many are old and sagging a lot, or even torn. Found myself on more than one occasion having to move because I was laying on top of the aluminum supports underneath the fabric. Not comfortable for a day you planned on relaxing. But last complaint for anyone who may not have noticed. The points on cruises from their older benefits tiers have changed. I have cruised 34 days in total and am somehow short one point to the next level above gold. I called RC and after a brief conversation consisting in short of me being told to pound sand, I still am a gold member, remember people I have cruised 34 days with them and am still in the first level. If i book another cruise with them, do i get to reap the benefits of the next tier after day one of my cruise? NOPE! I do not get to enjoy anything until the cruise after. For those of you who had made it this far reading the review, no I do not live close enough to a port to do a quick 3 day cruise with RC. All in all, it will be a very long time till I sail with RC again, if at all. Princess cruise lines, your up next, I've heard great things. Read Less

The second, jamaica was great. but, we had to take our lives in our own hands to educate ourselves about the terroristic activities on our own because even after the american embassy in mexico was closed for safety concerns, the cruise staff directly lied to our faces and denied any problems with the ferry trips over to playa del carmen to participate in royal caribbean sponsored shore excursions. Only to wait and cancel all our pre-planned and pre-paid excursions to that area the night before. Although we did receive a refund of our money, all the comparable shore excursions were already booked full and the staff couldn't care less. there was a diamond in the ruff to be found amongst it all; his name was daniel and he worked in the tiffany & co. Boutique. He was the sweetest and genuine fella we met during the whole week. Not once did he poke his nose up at us in a snobby manner. In fact, this redneck girl's amazing husband just so happened to purchase a nice gift for me in that very store. Food was nothing to write home about. They definitely pushed the specialty dining over and over for another charge. We will give our business to a different cruise line next time. Read Less

We chose this cruise on Oasis as a little romantic getaway and splurged on the Crown Loft Suite. While most of our cruise was great including speedy embarkation, awesome venues and our favorite place, the Coastal Kitchen; RC began a major construction project on the roof above us that lasted the entire week. The hammering, drilling banging and grinding that went on above us from 8 am to 6 pm was totally unbearable. On Monday, we inquired about the noise and asked if they could switch us to another room but were told that the project was complete and that it would be quiet for the remainder of the cruise....? Tuesday morning, we woke up to the banging again...and Wednesday and Thursday.....it never stopped! I recorded the noise every day and played it back for anyone that would listen?? My Concierge, my room attendant, the hotel administrator....? Finally on the Friday they offered to switch our room? seriously....? We had a day and a half left on our cruise? Thank you, but no....I would have gladly moved on Monday, but with one day left, we were not packing up our entire room and moving. When we returned to our room later that night, they offered us a 30% Future Cruise Credit which was nice....but did very little to make us feel any better about the way we feel they had treated us and the loss of this cruise. Our cruise cost us over ten thousand dollars including flights, hotels etc., and they offered us $1308 for me and $654.00 for DH to use toward another cruise...as nice a gesture as this was, if I'd had the option ahead of time, I would have chosen NOT to have a discounted CLS that was under construction. I know there are many people out there may have opted for the 30% discount and lived with the noise....but I would have chosen to PAY MORE for some PEACE & QUIET!! Read Less

Got a last minute deal and was closer to drive for us Windjammer breakfast was poor, overdried toats,dried waffles,hard pastries (croissants,donuts for the whole week),missing fruits, missing tables and lots dirty tables. Main dining room for supper :often tables not ready (wait time 20 min) food overcooked (fish,lobster,lasagna) and often not hot,(lukewarm) often brought coffe after we had finished our desserts.. People not very friendly compared to other ships We have cruised over 30 times. Our luggage had the handle broken when arrived in our room ,ok they fixed it but it was brand new. Often washroom was missing soap at different floors and Royal had just had bad experience with over 300 passengers sick about 2 weeks earlier,we figured the ship would be always clean and spotless (not the case). Plus side,stateroom attendant very good and room kept well cleaned. Very good shows and headliner show,good spa experience. Guest service after midnite is limited to only 1 employee ,so expect long delays especially on the last night. Read Less

Too many out of pocket restaurants, and the shows.... well who would know? They book before you even set sail. Forget whimsically deciding to attend a show, you can't. There are TOO MANY PEOPLE! This ship is by far the worst one. The pluses I would say are the wait staff, room attendants, food is amazing, and some of the little entertainment like trivia, a lot of hot tubs, pianist, guitarist and things like that. We brought kids and they loved the character pop ups, however we wanted to ice skate and couldn't. The line to register was obscene! I have never had issues doing these things or attending shows before, and boy have I always loved the shows! But this one really disappointed me, I really hope this new booking policy doesn't carry to other ships or RC will ruin their cruise line for me. Also the pool deck is big, always found a chair but the flooring is DANGEROUS! I almost fell at least 6 times myself, do not let your kids run!!! I have previously travelled on princess and Msc cruise ships but unfortunately the overall experience did not match up to these two cruise lines. The ports St. Thomas, San Juan and labadee were really poor, as were all the excursions. Be aware that there’s nothing to do in San Juan activity wise except walk around and also you do not experience the true Haiti in labadee, it’s private royal carribean land that is denied to the natives and sugar coated. Royal carribean expect to be tipped on absolutely everything- where’s the rationality in charging a gratatuity of $13.50 for a box of popcorn which cost $2.50.....? The food in the main dining room was really decent, but the same could not be said for the windjammer cafe, especially at lunch time. The choice of desserts was disappointing and exactly the same everyday- they just changed the colour of the cakes and who wants soggy bread and butter pudding with vanilla sauce everyday(why couldn’t they serve custard, cream or ice cream)? The captain drove the ship quickly and my partner and I were sea sick half the time so we missed out on many activities, unfortunately medication did not work for us Read Less

I wanted off this cruise and they would not even offer me a refund ! Costa Maya is a filthy, poor, hell hole and Cozumel is only slightly better be ware do not venture off the beaten path ! Thank God for Senor Frogs in the Bahamas and Jimmy Buffet's in Cozumel or it would have been a totally bad day at port. The ship is huge, gorgeous and clean. The dinner menu in the main dining room was very good but I felt it could have had a few more choices of fish other than Salmon. TIPS Don't go off the beaten path in Costa Maya or Cozumel Disembarkation get a porter, it goes faster and easier Read Less

We were celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary and looking forward to visiting the islands. We requested a salt free diet and always on RCL we meet with the Head Waiter each night prior to dinner to go over the menu and select meals that can be made without salt. However, on Oasis of the Seas, this task is left to the waiter - unfortunately, our waiter was clueless on which foods come naturally with salt - and every evening was unable to remember what our table guests had ordered. On more than one occasion he served my husband food laden with salt. The Head Waiter apologized, but it was too little too late. My husband suffered fluid build up around his lungs and had trouble breathing. After two days of slowly getting worse - even though we stopped going to the dining room - he went to the doctor and was placed din the hospital's ward for most of the day - the doctor treated him for the fluid and did manage to reduce the swelling and eased his breathing. We lost 3 days of our celebration cruise - spent it in the cabin - horrendous. We did receive a note of apology from the Head Waiter acknowledging the mistake. We received a bill for $1,200 from the doctor. I requested a meeting with the Officer in charge of food and beverage as well as guest services. On the last day of the cruise I was invited to address my concern. The F&B Manager had spoken with the Head Waiter who indicated that my husband had been served the correct food and that only on one occasion was there a "mistake". I produced the card of apology and then the F&B Manager asked why I waited 3 days to go to the doctor and pointed out that I signed a form saying that I would pay for medical services. This added insult to injury - I did notice that not one of the other three Officers made any comments - not sure why, but if I had been an Officer and listened to the F&B Manager, I would have been most disturbed that he tried to cover up the problem and put the onus on my husband. This is no indication of the excellent dining room service afforded us on all other RCL ships - we are Diamond members and have thoroughly enjoyed working with the Head Waiters - who do know which foods can accommodate sodium free diets - and who do have knowledgeable waiters. The F&B Manager said that as a "courtesy" to me being a loyal Diamond member, he would refund the $1,200. I did not consider this a "courtesy" at all - and was furious when I left the meeting. Needless to say, our 50th Wedding Anniversary was one we will never forget - I've seen more than enough of our cabin on Oasis of the Seas to last me a lifetime. If you do have need of a special diet - do not tolerate inefficient and incompetent waiters - make sure you ONLY meet with the Head Waiter each night to review dinner for the following evening. Make sure he or she understands which foods have natural salt - ask questions - reconfirm every night that each item you are served contains no foods like ham, etc. If you know that you have not been served salt free items, report it to the Food and Beverage Manager and insist that you are moved to another table. Our table guests were all Diamond and Diamond Plus members - and each one of them had problems with incorrect meals. It is a shame that the waiter - who claimed to have 17 years under his belt - is allowed to risk the lives of RCL's guests. For the first 3 days, we enjoyed all the amenities of the Oasis of the Seas - although the ports of call were changed, we have cruised them many times, so were not too upset that we went to Mexico instead of St. Martin and San Juan (due to Hurricane Irma). We found the entertainment superb - although we only managed to see "Cats" (a production that surpasses Broadway) and the diving show - having over 6,000 passengers it was amazing that the shows were not crowded. Our cabin was wonderful - bed was extremely comfortable and entire cabin was cleaned each day by a steward that we rarely managed to see. Being in the center of the ship was also a plus (we had booked this cruise the previous year while on board another Royal Caribbean cruise and the representative chose the cabin for us) It was delightful to relax around the ship during the day. There were always enough lounge chairs around the pools and spas - and the solarium was a great place to relax sans children!!!! Having a merry-go-round and outdoor fun interactive giant busses, boats, etc., for the children to have fun was great for grandparents who brought their grandchildren - add ice skating and the water park was enough to keep children happy throughout the day. Although we were not able to enjoy more than a few days on the ship, we will continue cruising with Royal Caribbean - but will make absolutely sure on the next occasion that we meet initially with the Head Waiter, the Chef, the Food and Beverage Manager - and the Waiter (making sure the waiter is equipped to handle passengers with special needs). In addition, I would suggest that if you are going to eat from the buffet, you also speak personally with the chef so that your food can be specially prepared. Read Less

Overall, this was a great get-away vacation. Royal Caribbean made it all possible in every way--from fun, to relaxing, to indulging in good food in the various restaurants, including the Wind Jammer! We were enlightened by the various shows, and events, as well as by all the other activities. There was something to do for everyone and every age group or lifestyle. One could hardly get bored. Onboard shopping was also a great feature. The various ports were a real enhancement to the cruise itinerary. I did not participate in the shore excursion on this cruise, however-- partly because most of the ones I wanted were a little pricey. But that did not interfere with my engaging in other activities and having a great time. The Restaurant Staff were superb in waiting on customers, making sure tables were cleaned after each use, and of course refilling empty food containers on the food stations. The Captain was very informative and very careful in navigating the ship over the seas. He kept us informed of the status of Hurricane Irma and carefully redirected us away from the path of the hurricane. I never felt more comfortable. He earned an A+++++ for his efforts. This cruise came highly recommended to us by my parents, who had been on this ship and cruise twice before and loved it. We invited them to join us, and they were so excited to do so again. By the time the week was over, they were mortified at all the changes and at our experience. Upon embarking on the ship, we entered into QVC on the Water hell, we felt like we were trapped in a time share sales nightmare, where every time we turned around, someone was hocking more fees and things to buy, nonstop. It started with the gourmet restaurant packages where every 5 steps someone was trying to sell these to us, which went on for about 4 hours or so, until we could get to our cabin and hide. After that it was the drink packages, then the nonstop merchandise sales.. and it goes on and on. The dining room staff - OMG. We ate the first night in the Silk dining room, which was a nightmare, where our table literally bordered the aisle, so every time someone came in, walked around, left.. they were walking right by my shoulders, because the tables were right on the aisle. There was no room to move the table in. I spoke to the Maitre D Lucien for a table change, whose repeated answer was he would try but could not guarantee a change. The idea of eating another meal so stressed (the atmosphere was circus-like) was just unacceptable. I shared that with him, and got the same answer. Upon not getting a change message by the next day, we changed to the call ahead room instead. While they gave us a little big of grief over the change, with the manager sending us back and forth between rooms, once this was done, this dining room was a joy, waiters were amazing, the guy who was in charge of the dinner service there was so personable - it was such a relief. And the food was delicious. Eating in the Windjammer if you slept past 10 or during lunch when the dining room was closed was a nightmare. The pictures were horrible. These people need to learn to take pictures! Poses were boring but moreso, they take them from straight on or lower, instead of above you, so you always look like a potato, regardless of your body type. They didnt put any pics in my parents folder, and were very impatient and rude when my parents explained that viewing the pictures with all the lines and patterns on the pictures through their digital system was too difficult for them (they are over 75 in age). They promised to print them out by 6 the next day, at 10 when she still had done, the manager snarked at her that he was too busy to print them. The water show was AMAZING, we loved it! Pass on CATS and the ice skating. The rink is so small, these poor skaters were falling, I was terrified for them. They had an additional show on the second to last night supposedly for adults, but the line was sooooo long and wrapped around the boat with teens, we could not get in. My parents were pretty shocked considering this show previously had been a bit racy and not for kids younger than 18. In a boat of 6000 people, this was very poorly planned. This is to say nothing of the air conditioning that is freezing during the day and got turned off every night around 1-2 a.m. so we would wake up roasting. When i called, they sent 2 flunkies to test it, there was no air coming out.. and they said the room was 68 - not quite. I was in tears by Wednesday night at the guest services desk. The gentleman there was very understanding, told me to wait 30 mins and in fact it got fixed for the rest of the week. Our room was wonderful, very spacious, it was an outside cabin with a window. It actually was in the very front of the boat, it was great. Our steward was the best too. I loved the piano bar and dancing in the club downstairs was fun. LOVED Solaris, where no little kids at the pool or on deck. They have these huge round comfy chairs two of you can sit on and just watch the ocean. Food there is good too. This is a very big ship- but not a ton to do. There are A LOT of people, 6000, and after a day or so in sea, everyone is stir crazy. Too many kids during this time.. some people literally brought their kids into the bars at 11:30 at night, the poor kids were sleeping in the chairs sitting up, where there not enough seats for those of us wanting to dance. One person even parked their stroller in there - no one said anything, i thought this was very poorly managed. The ports were great. We went to St. Martin, Puerto Rico and Haiti. Shortest time spent in Puerto Rico, we had to be back by 1:30, which was really disappointing. Instead they needed extra time in Haiti, which was sooooo hot and buggy, big Zika virus zone, so wished we could have had extra time in Puerto Rico, no bugs during the day at least. If you are looking for a relaxing experience, this is not the venue. If you like the hustle and bustle, dont mind 25 people in an elevator and the nickel and diming, you will have a great time. We cruised this boat 4 years ago and its sad to say how much this beautiful ship has changed!! We really love Royal but going to look at others now for future cruises. We were on the 10th floor large superior room with large deck, not a big difference with deck size and would not spend extra money on it again. Not a big deal but you don't get towel designs on your bed every night anymore just once, lol. Main dining room food is just average now. They don't put the napkin on your lap anymore, dancing from staff is just them running up and down the isles AWFUL and very loud. Employees arguing in the main dining area in front of you a lot, it was not organized at all. Service not good from a lot of the waiters and waitresses. We lucked out and got a nice and pleasant one. Employees constantly complaining about the other staff and management. The ports were Haiti, Jamaica and Cozumel Haiti was nice, you do your own thing on their beach. Nice lunch. Jamaica - they need to skip this spot but Royal has put to much money in the shops inside the gate. Shops were very expensive. We went to get a bottle of sunscreen, $24.00. Couldn't believe it, make sure you bring enough. The restaurant that was there were ran by the Jamaicans and although they are very nice people they were very unprofessional and i think they just enjoyed being inside the gate! Don't even go outside the gate, this is our 2nd visit here, The first time we got 3 blocks and turned back, this time we got across the street and turned back and went back inside the gate. I heard taking with some other guest they went to the Hilton for a all inclusive day, They said it was wonderful. We bought the city tour this time to see if we could just get back a few streets without the harassment but even on the city tour they harassed you during the few spots you stopped at. SO SAD!! I will never visit this stop again. Cozumel - This was a ok stop. We rented the moped and that was the highlight. Go outside the gate across the street about $15.00 cheaper. ($50.00 which included the insurance) We did this because the cab ride was $20 each way to the beach we were going to so we decided to get this and we drove all over the island. Same dessert and sandwiches that were awful in the cafe by the customer service area overnight but no choice because a lot of things closed in the evening. Pizza was the same every night also. Cheese and pepperoni. Good but wish there were other choices. Room service now has a fee of $7.95, unbelievable change. Except in the morning coffee and muffins are free for room service but anything else they charge for. This use to be a highlight for us as we sat on our deck in the morning and had breakfast listening to the waves. We alway got the early dining and ordered room service at night listening to the waves around 11pm and now they charge for that, so sad. We did hear that the Allure which is the same boat has better service. Piano bar was great had a lot of fun there. Casino was fun and came out even this time. Comedy show couldn't get in unless you had a reservation and people always in line. 6th night was in a bigger room that could accommodate a lot of people and you didn't need reservation so just wait for that if you want to go. Cats was good but LONG so go early and not on the first night as you are so tired from waking up early to get on the boat. It was very nice to have a vacation anyway and I'm sure and hoping Royal will fix these problems as I'm not the only one that has noticed the differences in 4 years. People didn't dress up for the main dining like usual cruises. They even let people in there with shorts on during formal night.......hmmmmm Hope this helps. Enjoy!! Read Less

Everything about the ship's appearance is spot on! Clean, spacious, comfortable! Dining is kind of hit and miss, but I thoroughly enjoyed the variety in Windjammer! It must be known that we were on this cruise for a wedding - my boyfriend's sister got married on St. Thomas, and while there were a few hiccups getting from ship to site, it was a beautiful ceremony in the end! Also, the Stateroom Attendants are a friendly bunch; they work hard and really do their best to ensure you're happiness with your stateroom! The excursions are fun and worth the pretty penny but you have to really dive in and make the most of it! Don't just sit aside because you might miss something! As for dining, the best place by far is the Windjammer on the upper decks! Best views, best food, great crew! Loved the ice show the most! The Aqua one was fun, but unfortunately our "Come Fly With Me" was cancelled due to a thunderstorm. Good thing too, it was quite rocky! Safety first! However, Oasis of the Seas seems to have a problem with being upfront about what they are charging you for onboard. It was our very FIRST cruise, and we knew nothing about the little things, such as the pool towels needing to be returned or else you get charged $25 per towel! There was no sign on the stand, and no one said anything when we checked them out, so we didn't know until Day 4 and by then we were missing one towel. It's frustrating, because on Day 1 six of our party checked out towels under one person and well... none of those got returned because we didn't know how it worked. I will also say that aside from a handful of people, the crew is very bad at pretending to care and following up. They're obvious with their contempt at Guest Services (or at least the man attempting to 'help' me was) and during a massage the therapist wouldn't stop saying how she is overworked and underpaid and how someone died last week that used to work with her on this same ship. ( It wasn't very relaxing). It was kind of unfair that you paid a mandatory gratuity, and then got that kind of service. I tried to be kind and cheerful and most of the time I got a deadfish look back... I assume it was fatigue but still, to have it constantly? It was the same for the rest of our group as well, for the most part. I know that some of these things seem obvious now, or to people who are used to cruises but I can honestly say that thanks to Oasis of the Seas, my boyfriend and I as well as our families, will not be going on a cruise again. If we do, it won't be with Royal Caribbean. Read Less

While the captains decision to stay ahead of the weather was correct, the change to San Juan rather than Nassau put the screws to excursions. It happens, I guess. She was also right on the mark with technical difficulties. What went wrong was never explained but you would think a ship of this size would have some back up equipment. I guess we'll catch “Cats” some other time. Speaking of size, Oasis is just two darn big. Too many people. While the food was adequate - adequate, not awesome - it was very annoying to hear an announcement every few minutes in the buffet that amounted to "We hope you enjoyed your food now please get out". At several thousand dollars a pop, I resented being told to move along. We didn't gain much weight however. Probably due to the 2/10th of a mile (each way) from our cabin to the food. Someone else referred to the ship as a "windowless barge". And that is the case. There seemed to be a determined effort by RC to make you feel you were in a shopping mall rather than at sea. Why build a ship that isolates you from the water? Isn't that the point of cruising? Beautiful ship, no problem with the staff at all but, like many of the folks leaving the buffet, it was overstuffed. Read Less

This was our first cruise. Therefore we went thru a travel agent to make sure everything would go smooth and be planned. We chose The Oasis of the Seas due to the reputation and it being a large ship. We had been told in the past that the food was awesome. However, this wasn't our experience. The food was awful. I ordered a steak in the dining hall and it just didn't look like a steak at all. The consistency was mushy to say the least. After that dinner, we resorted to going to the Wind Jammer buffet. Again, the food wasn't great, some was cold, others were greasy. Day to day the selection didn't change much. Due to size of the ship, it took alot of time to check on when dining places were open as they would have scattered hours. So if you find something you like, make sure to know where it is and the hours it is open. I asked about the fabulous desserts and seafood that everyone raves about, and never found them. Until we went to one of the pay restaurants, at that time we experienced a good meal and a great dessert. This is the one we had in the 7 days. If you choose to go on this ship, pay for the upscale restaurants. We also had booked shows before the trip as instructed. However, when it comes down to the shows, anyone can go, and you who reserved in advance will have NO where to sit and have to stand for the show. For example, the water show. We also had a bad experience with guest services. I had cancelled my drink package on the second day of the cruise and it took 5 attempts and trips to guest services to get it straightened out. (I had to go down there to get straightened out, while I was sea sick) Also, as said in earlier review, watch your bill. I followed the steps to take for booking dinners at the pay restaurants. It took me 4 times to get a booking set at the place we wanted. Due to the guest services not completing the reservation correctly after 4 attempts, I didn't get my desired dinner time and had to resort to day we were at port instead of a cruising day like I wanted. So we had to rush back from port to get ready for a 5:30 dinner when I wanted a 7:30 dinner on a cruising day. Ports were good, Bahamas was so-so, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten were good, but time there is short and goes to fast. The cleaning person was wonderful, cabin with balcony was nice. Due to the food and customer service not being good, I wouldn't recommend this boat. I have heard great experiences on other cruise lines. Read Less
