I was very disappointed with the cruise! We previously had been on the Oasis for 44 days. The Menu was very limited with NO cold soups and limited salads. Room Service was inconsistent. Sometime good coffee and sometimes sludge. Sometimes we got what we ordered and sometimes NOT. We did not know that the Diamond lounge had closed on deck 4 and reopened combined with the Concierge Lounge on deck 11.We did not receive our normal Amenities. A plate of 4 Chocolate Strawberries is it. I was quarantined to my cabin for a couple of days and when finally released, I could not get off the ship in Jamaica due to a miscommunication. The entertainment was great, especially Cats! The Comedy Club acts were fantastic, except for the Headliner named Kennedy who was just horrible. We had a Jr. Suite on the 7th deck and it was amazing. Being in a Jr. Suite gave us the ability to eat dinner in the Coastal Kitchen and we really enjoyed it. The suite and Pinnacle lounge is really nice and it would be nice if Diamond Plus cruisers were allowed usage of this facility. Children, well there were a lot of them Read Less

We chose the ship as a destination rather than the Islands. The ship is HUGE...TOO HUGE. We had a cabin forward which I do NOT recommend. It is a long hike to activities which are mostly aft. All staff were pleasant and helpful. The ship has many features, but with 6,400 passengers it was crowded. We choose "anytime" dining which proved to be a disaster. When trying to book ahead only once was the reservations phone even answered. Our balcony cabin was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom shower was spacious for a ship. The ice show was the best show I've seen in over 30 cruises. Negative: music in all locations is LOUD and techno for the most part. Aimed at 20 somethings. Simply terrible. Drink prices are bordering on THEFT. $6.95 for a beer plus 18% service charge and the guts to ask for a tip! That works out to about $168 for a case of beer that costs less than $20. The food was plentiful but bland except for Indian dishes. Again we did not use specialty restaurants because of outrageous up charges. Steakhouse was $79pp plus service of 18%. We probably won't cruise Royal again. Read Less

I'm a Crown & Anchor Gold member, which at this point it counts for nothing. With the new system, Gold members are NOT recognized at all. All you get is a letter advising you of discounts. The Oasis is a beautiful ship with lots of venues such as a boardwalk, aqua theater, zip line, flowrider, wall climbing, central park, ice skating ring, etc. The down side is that these venues are closed on ports of call. So if you choose to stay oboard you have limited choices. Avoid St. Martin by all means. It's filthy, the islanders are really pushy, if you go to the beach you will be harassed by local vendors to exhaustion, the shore excursion RC offers called "St. Maarten Beach Rendezvous" was terrible. The tour reps are rude, have no common sense (force us to stand in line in the pouring rain) which made the bus ride uncomfortable in our soaking clothes and freezing A/C. Ate lunch at the Kakao Beach restaurant in Orient Beach, the waiting staff is rude, treat you like an annoyance, never came back to check on us. You have limited time in San Juan, Puerto Rico (4 hours). I will never do the Eastern Caribbean route again. I have had a better experience in the Western Caribbean which includes Cozumel; Mexico really knows customer service and the locals at restaurants and bars understand and speak English. You can't understand a word in the Caribbean and they get upset about it. Bought the Premium beverage package, it was worth the cost, but did not get the soda cup had to request it three times, the pizzeria never carried bottled water, the food quality at the Windjammer was subpar, the reservation experience at the My Time Dining was the worst - we went three times and they never had our table reserved or ready. The second time we went to the dining room since our table was not ready, they had us walk to the 4th floor for a table. The third time, we were assigned a table right next to the waiter's station so we were literally on their way, so we asked to be seated elsewhere. The hostess took us to another table which was not ready so we were asked to wait. Since they were not going to clean it, she asked us to walk to another section. The waiter took a long time to acknowledge us. When he finally did he said "what is the confusion with the menu". There was no confusion, we were just waiting for him! I asked for a Pellegrino, they charged for it (even though a had the Premium beverage package). The maitre d' asked the waiter to cancel the charge, he did not. Had to called Guest Services to ask them to remove the charge (but had the wait 30 minutes on hold to get through). I always prepay the gratuities, but this time I felt it was not correctly distributed. After all the hassle in the main dining room, we didn't go back. The zip line is fun, however the waiting time is ridiculous. It was opened at 1:00 and there were 3 staff to prepare you. All of a sudden only 1 staff person was left and it made the waiting time 2 hours! Overall, I like the ship a lot and the shows, but the customer experience was not what I expected. Particularly the staff does not understand English, the food was subpar and the shore excursion was a nightmare. Choose another part of the Caribbean to visit. Read Less

We chose Royal Caribbean this time because we wanted to try something different and had cruised a few times on Carnival and enjoyed it. Overall the cruise went well the destinations and excursions were very good and crew was courteous and friendly but not as friendly and personable as Carnival simply for the fact that there was 7,000 people on board this monster of the seas. We reserved a dinner at the Chops Restaurant and between the appetizer and dinner we waited two long hours. The Staff finally had other staff members from other restaurants come to help. The lines were long at the bars in the pool areas during certain peak times in the day and the promenade was always packed with people as there was always sales on watches and purses as you would have thought you were at a mad flea market. The only time It was not crowded was after midnight. There were a lot of parties of passengers that were celebrating some sort of event birthdays or anniversaries and some got very loud and out of hand in certain areas. The Cabins I give a 5 star rating as everything was very clean and comfortable. If you like a very crowded cruise on the largest ship I have ever been on then Oasis of the Seas is for you. Read Less

Underwhelming! It has cured me from wanting to go on RCI again This is a really big ship yet I must say it is not as crowded as you might fear. Most all times it seemed no more congested than a smaller ship. This is a short review from 4 "mature" Adults, so use that in your evaluation. The last 6 cruises we have taken Have been on RCI. In terms of service personnel and food they have steadily gone downhill. This ship is a "destination" with a carousel, Rock climbing wall, mini zip line, etc. This is fine as there are only so many ports in the Caribbean, and it could become boring were there not alternate things to do.. Ship is neat, clean and in good repair. Their cabins were likewise, yet their design is poor in terms of closet layout. Typical to RCI's deterioration is their "nickel and dime-ing", such as the removal of pen and paper from the staterooms. Not a big deal until you have a problem and need to write down the information being conveyed over the phone. possibly the smallest TV I have ever seen on a ship. .Staff: Reservations desk were excellent. Getting on and off was fine, Overall someone has waived their magic wand over the crew and removed every last vestige of enthusiasm and natural friendliness On a 1 to 10 scale, our 4 person rating ( about 50 cruises to our experience) yields between a 3.5 and a 4. Not a very good rating. It bordered on annoying. Possibly we could count 4 or 5 of the staff that exhibited any form of friendliness or desire to be performance oriented. They just do not know how to deal in a service capacity. Maybe RCI has switched to a hiring policy that does not include finding friendly or service oriented people. Who knows.. Whatever the case It is markedly not for the better. Frankly the guys slicing bologna at the local market here are friendlier and show more enthusiasm. Four weeks after this sailing we did an MSC out of Miami and it was back to the old style of treatment. Food: Ahhhh more nickel and dime-ing. Overall food quality has deteriorated. Skipping to the bottom line here.... a 3.5 out of 10 would be generous. It seems they are pushing you to their specialty restaurants...pushing heavily. I believe (at least on our cruise) they have resorted to using powdered eggs for their breakfast scrambled eggs. and... they have eliminate the egg cooking station, so i wonder how many portions of eggs go into the garbage barely eaten. Really Chef ?.. Powdered eggs,,, yech!!!!! (Oh, and they were the worst powdered eggs I have ever had) Lots of Pasta was available..... frequently semi cooked. we are not talking al dente here.... we are talking crunchy. More than one station, more than one day. Staff indifferent.... I also think they believe they have mastered a way to make reconstituted chicken. Anyway... that is what it looked, felt and tasted like. Note to chef.... you have not mastered it. BUT you have mastered the excessive use of salt. ) wow... I'm thankful the water was not another one of the pay extra options). A few more: Central Park is great!!! Beautiful!!!! Took a tour of it. Narrator mumbled, talked low and away from the group... so we left... BUT they did at least offer a tour. The place for sandwiches there is GREAT!! and Giovanni's Service, personnel and food was terrific!!!! Great great fillet... these two have the highest recommendations of anything on the ship They don't have: stargazing, enrichment programs, information as to where we were, what we were passing, etc. Part of their service isolation experience I suppose. Entertainment was decent to good. They did "Cats" ( the musical, not the food), and it was very good, as was their water show. Yes there were bright spots. So....overall it was not a "bad" experience. It just was not good. it was as best mediocre. what you might settle for as a cut rate sailing. For a first timer...you might be impressed.... but if you have sailed RCI in the past, perhaps 3 or 4 years ago...or have sailed a number of other lines , you will definitely notice their deterioration in service, attitude and food. There is a lot of competition in the Miami Ft Lauderdale cruise business. MCI has already surpassed RCI, and others will also....unless RCI gets it together. Read Less

Let me say first that the staff and meal staff were great. Our last cruise on the Oasis was four years ago. We learned first hand about RCI's new penny pinching ways. Yes meals are included but they make it clear that if want the really good food you pay $30 extra even in the main dinning room. You used to be able to check the internet for about .50 a minute. Now you must pay a ridiculous $30 even if you only want to use it for one minute. No matter where you look it seems that they want to charge you more for something. Don't even get me started on the $2.50 for very small bag of popcorn. We paid thousands of dollars for our cruise and you want to charge me for a bag of popcorn!! I am emerald status on RCI, we always choose it because we used to consider it one step above Carnival. Now no mints on the pillow, fewer towel animals, no drinks on the dock after excursions. These were small things that used to differentiate it from Carnival. At lease Carnival has 24 hour soft serve ice cream. The little things that made RCI special seem now to be lacking. The large outdoor TV's at the back of the ship clearly require maintenance. Large blocks don't work. You now MUST pay the gratuities automatically. Since it is a required fee I am not sure how it is a gratuity. There is nothing to give the attendant or waiter at the end of the week which becomes very awkward. Perhaps that is by design. This should now be part of the cruise price up front. Only three ports during the cruise and time at two of the ports was short, I am assuming to save on dock charges. Left Nassua at 2:30. Frankly why bother to go there. Limited shopping, excursions, and beaches. Also a very northerly port for the middle of winter. We also stopped a St. Maarten and St. Thomas. Left St. Maarten at 4:30, why? We had two days at sea to return to port. We are avid snorkelers, the two stop Buck island snorkel in St Thomas was very good. The map in the stateroom shows the boat docked next to the town in St Thomas. That is not were we were docked. Would have been nice if someone on the ship had let us know it was going to cost money to go to town before we left the ship. Much of the entertainment was cancelled due to higher seas. I truly understand that the seas will impact any performance. But why not have alternative entertainment for those days instead of nothing at all. The cruise director had very little interaction with the us. On previous cruises the Director at the end of shows would tell us about what to expect the next day and things we should look for. This one seemed more interested in getting off the stage. Read Less

Boarding: Very quick! The check in process was quick and efficient. We then went upstairs in the cruise terminal and had a short wait before it was our turn to board the ship. Probably less than 10 minutes. This was about Noon. Once onboard we realized that we couldn’t get into our stateroom until 1pm. No big deal. We had our first drinks and ate lunch at the Park Café. Those beef sandwiches really are fantastic!!!!!!!! Stateroom: We were in room 9196 – A balcony room on “the hump”. Upon arrival in our room our first thought was that it was pretty spacious. We would’ve liked it better if the bed was near the balcony door instead of the vanity being near the balcony door – but no big deal. Just the luck of the draw as our neighbor’s room was configured the opposite way. Our room wasn’t 100% clean. There was a ½ eaten banana in our fridge and some feminine products left in a drawer in our bathroom. Not really a big deal though. I know they turn over those rooms really, really quickly. I had brought a travel clock along that also included a thermometer. I sleep best when it is cold. The coolest it ever got in our stateroom was 70 degrees though. No problem – we asked our room attendant, Michael, for a fan and he brought us one within the hour!!! Impressed. Speaking of cold – our fridge never did cool our water bottles much cooler than room temperature. We could not find an adjustment dial so we just dealt with it. Food: The Park Café is almost always packed. The sandwiches, soups and salads are great, but there were 2 times we tried to eat lunch there but there were no empty tables inside or outside. We ate 2 breakfasts and 1 dinner in the Windjammer and all 3 times were awful experiences. The amount of people inside the Windjammer was very overwhelming and the food was very underwhelming. I would suggest staying clear of this place unless you are desperate! Chops – We ate there the first night and got a 25% discount. The steak was excellent!!!! And we both loved the jumbo shrimp cocktail. I would suggest eating there at least once on your trip. Giovanni’s Table – We ate there for dinner one night and it was fantastic! Here’s a tip – One of their dinner options is a Filet Mignon – my husband got this and said it was the same as the Filet he had at Chops. Chops is $35 per person and Giovanni’s is only $25 per person! So if you have a steak person with, then opt for Giovanni’s if the rest of your party wanted Italian. We had “My Time Dining” and actually really enjoyed that. We got the same seating section in the main dining room and the same waiter every night. Our server was Euclid from the Philippines and he was exceptional!!! I cannot say enough good things about him. He was efficient, excited, personable and fun! What an asset to Royal Caribbean! More about My Time Dining. We had booked all of our dinner times months before we boarded the ship. We never waited more than a minute or two for our table at our reservation times. There were a few nights that we wanted to go to dinner earlier or later than we originally planned and all we had to do was call the dining room and they made it happen. I would definitely pick My Time Dining again. The food in the main dining room was hit or miss. We didn’t eat anything there that really “wowed” us at all. One night I had the lasagna and found it to be truly awful. Thursday night was “Lobster Night”. My husband and I both had the lobster tail and prime rib. It was “ok”. It seems like RCL should invest more into their main dining room menus. How can the food quality be so different from the specialty restaurants? Seems like they make the food in the main dining room less quality in an effort to get people to go to the specialty places where they charge the additional fee. Not cool Royal Caribbean! Another tip – Eat breakfast at Johnny Rockets! It is “free” and made to order!!! They have French toast, pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, omelets, made to order eggs and great coffee! We ate almost every breakfast there. Sorrento’s pizza is available almost constantly. I found it to be a pretty delicious snack especially after a few drinks – My husband thought it was the worst pizza he’d ever tried. We agreed to disagree on this one. We also enjoyed a few hot dogs at The Dog House. Great afternoon snack and usually with no line. The Pools: This is where I feel you really notice the 6,000 other passengers. Unless you were up really early, it was almost impossible to find a chair in the shade at the main pools. There were signs everywhere that said that pool attendants would remove people’s things if their chairs were vacant for more than 30 minutes. We watched for this and in 7 days we did not see this happen one time! Very frustrating! While in the main pools we felt like we were basically packed into the pools like sardines in a can. You could barely turn around without touching someone else in the pool. The Solarium area was nice but with the air temp of 90+ degrees sometimes, this glass enclosed area became a sauna!!! But it was easier to get a pool chair here (although not many in the shade) and the adult only pool in the Solarium had much cooler water than the main pools. The Solarium Bar is actually upstairs from the pool area. This is also not ideal. Another one of our favorite crew members worked in the Solarium Bar – His name is Wesley and he was awesome! He always greeted my husband by name and was very quick, friendly and efficient! The Elevators: There were times you waited a few minutes but then there were also times there was no wait at all. I guess with 6,000 passengers I expected worse. The Shows: We booked all of our shows months before we boarded also. Here’s a tip - If you have a reservation – plan to get to the show at least a ½ before it is scheduled to start so that you can get you pick of seat locations. The Water Show – Oasis of Dreams – Very entertaining and in a beautiful open air venue at the back of this ship. The breeze that night was refreshing. See it! Rated 4/5 The Ice Show – Frozen in Time – Worth seeing. The show is based on some Hans Christian Anderson stories like the “Ugly Duckling”. Rated 3/5 Come Fly Away – SUPER EXCELLENT! This show was in the main Opal Theater and was Very entertaining and with great effects and music, this was our favorite show. Rated 5/5. Cats – We didn’t see it. We heard from numerous other passengers that it was too long and that many left ½ way through the show. The Headliner Show – I can’t remember the man’s name but he was great. He sang Motown Hits plus other things. He was the only “Headliner” and did the same show all week. The Piano Man at the Schooner Bar was our ABSOLUTE favorite. His name is Peter Ritz and he is phenomenal! He played almost nightly at the Schooner Bar and takes requests! He played and knew almost every song that was asked of him. One night he played my husband and my “wedding song” (It was our 15th Anniversary) and we danced. It was very special. So GO SEE PETER RITZ!!!! You will not be disappointed. The Dazzles club had a group called Muzik Express that played nightly – They were truly awful! The Ship Itself: She is huge! We enjoyed the different neighborhoods but found the “Central Park” area to be extremely warm and had no breeze. I would imagine those balcony suites would not have any breeze either. But it was neat watching birds fly in and out of the trees! The Boardwalk neighborhood was basically the carousel (which only ran at certain times of the day), the Hot Dog Stand, a candy store (that we never saw even open), Sabor, a bar, Ben & Jerry’s and Johnny Rockets. Not really much to do there. We did find it odd that Deck 16 was the only open air deck on the ship accessible to all of the passengers. Deck 15 had the pools but had windows all the way around. Deck 17 was open air also but was for suite members only. This was disappointing since we very rarely even saw any people on this deck. So Deck 16 is the only one with open air and a railing but then ½ the deck has the “smoking section” GROSS! So basically only ½ of deck 16 was open for us to enjoy. I would prefer more open air decks and LESS SMOKING! Speaking of smoking - there were several times we had to leave our balcony because neighbors were smoking. Ugh. It was hard to tell exactly where the smoke was coming from so it was impossible to accurately report it to the crew. We also saw people smoking on their Boardwalk balconies. Other than that, we were very impressed at how clean the ship was in the common areas. We never really saw people cleaning but it was always spic and span. Drinks and Drink Packages: We opted not to get any drink package and to pay “ala carte”. It would’ve cost close to $800 for the two of use to have the Premium Package for the week. After we got back home I “tallied up” our bar tab and we paid $550 in drinks between the 2 of us. This included daily beer, wine, fruity drinks, mixed drinks, 1 trip to Starbucks and a few sodas. We carried 12 bottles of water on the ship and that lasted us the whole week. Unless you really plan to party hard, I would suggest not getting the drink package. We drank at a reasonable rate and were “tipsy” more than a few times for our $550. A suggestion might be to try 1-2 days without the drink package. If you find that you are drinking more than $60-$70 per person/per day you can always add the drink package on later in your trip. FYI: Additional tips are optional, but we found that even giving your bartender $1 extra made a difference. The next time you would visit that bar your drink would be stronger and come faster. Itinerary: We found Labadee to be just “ok”. We opted to just sit on the beach and picked Columbus Cove. We had gone immediately to the Excursion Desk when we boarded the ship to try to get a Cabana on the island. We were told they were $300 and offered to suite guests first. At that price we passed on the Cabana (even though they really were sold out prior to boarding.) We got free beach chairs on Labadee and got their early to make sure we got a spot under some trees. The water was slightly murky. Not the clear turquoise water that you see in other places in the Caribbean. The sand though was white and fine. There were jellyfish in the water and a guest did get stung. They seemed to move out of the area once more people started swimming. The Labadoozee drink is $12 but it was delicious! We ate at the free Royal Caribbean BBQ buffet. It was just “ok”. Behind the pavilion that covered the buffet was a large wall with barbed wire along the top. Seemed sad. Haiti really is a poor country. We imagined throwing all the food over but didn’t imagine that would be allowed. Falmouth was nice. The shopping right outside the ship was great. We opted to go on the Red Stripe Beach excursion. The beach was clean and the staff was excellent. We had a very relaxing time there and got to finally enjoy some pristine turquoise Caribbean water! Well worth the $29 per person! Cozumel was also a great stop. The shopping area right outside the ship was large and the Mexican merchants loved to haggle! We opted to take a Taxi (they are all lined up) to Paradise Beach. The taxi was $15 for the two of use each way. Paradise Beach was fantastic! $3 per person to enter, which got you a beach or pool chair. You were asked to purchase $10 worth of food or beverage per person. We enjoyed THE BEST tacos we’ve ever had here. The pool was giant and cool. The beach was large with lots of shade. Great day! Disembarkment: The whole process ran about an hour behind schedule due to some troubles with customs. Ugh. It seemed like we waited forever in the Opal Theater waiting for our turn to leave. All in all we really had a great time. We would probably not pick to go on Oasis again just because we felt like there were too many people and not enough open deck space. This was our 9th cruise, our 3rd with RC and our 1st on Oasis class. The ship was as impressive as everyone says - absolutely amazing. You'll never run out of things to do (despite trying our best, we never got around to a couple things). The diving and skating shows blew our minds - by far the best shows we've ever seen at sea. CATS was boring like everyone says - the talent was there, just no plot. Food was amazing, except the ranch dressing. Other than that, no complaints. We ate in the Main Dining Room most nights. Windjammer food was just as good but the place was way too crowded. Lines to get in and fighting for tables kind of ruined the experience. Service was generally subpar. Our waiter on the first night was slow and rude, we asked for a change the next night and they were much better. Our cabin steward never introduced himself which blew us away. We ran into him in the hallway like on night 4 and he was nice enough, but I was disappointed by the lack of introduction. Also, we only got 3 towel animals the whole 7 night cruise! Across the ship, staff seemed generally annoyed to speak with us or help us and I got the impression that folks were pretty miserable. The fellow cruisers were worse than the service. Very few English speakers on board and lots of other cultures came across as very rude. So much loud yelling in foreign languages, cutting in lines, plowing through people in crowds, shoving you aside, etc. Being raised in the American South, my husband and I were pretty flabbergasted. Usually we don't pay much attention to our fellow cruisers but on this ship the rudeness was pervasive. In addition to the attitudes, we didn't like the thong bathing suits everywhere. From old to young, male to female, tiny to very very plus sized, they were everywhere. So gross. A crew member told us the cruisers were always rude because so many foreign people want to sail on Oasis because it got so much international media attention after shattering the world record for ship size. Embarkation was crazy fast & we were very surprised with how easy it was given the ship's size. We were on in less than 30 minutes. Read Less

Royal Caribbean has always been one of our favorite cruise lines, we are just shy of platinum status. I think maybe Oasis was just too big for us. There were too few activities for our arty of 4 - trivia once a day, a couple of line dance classes we could find to do, only 2 shuffle board courts for almost 6000 passengers. one night they said there was a sing along with give aways in the pub. There was a country singer with a guitar. We stayed for an hour. A few people mouthed a few lyrics a couple of times. There was no "sing along" and there was no "give away" of RCCL items. it was a LIE. I'm sure the dear man wondered why his show was suddenly so popular! The piano bar man put us to sleep - he never got started until almost 10pm. What else was there to do, Oh sure, there was Bingo for $$/card, or the standard art auctions, "free" seminars at the spa- all wanting you to buy something in return. I got so tired of the ship always wanting more of my money! Even the ice cream stations closed down at 6pm forcing you to go to the paid ice cream store if you wanted any snack other than a full pizza meal after 8pm. Very frustrating. The shows were very good, but they recommend you get there 15 minutes before the show start, and you have to make reservations. Then our TV in our cabin would give us our schedule every day and tell us the time to be there was 15 minutes earlier than the published time. We ended up standing in line a minimum of 30 minutes for every show we had reservations for every day. When we asked about it the people on the ship said we must be mistaken, no one had ever told them the times were mismatched before. The ports of call were OK - Haiti was the RCCL private island, and we spent most of the time with the sellers saying no thank you - it was exhausting the way they were almost like panhandlers asking your name then carving it on their items and then expecting you to buy things, or telling you something was a gift then begging for you to buy something from them. Jamaica was almost as bad with the exhausting begging. Cozumel has a small port area with almost proprietary shopping, but to get to the "recommended shops" and downtown area, it's a taxi ride ($) there and back. I also missed some of the other little personal touches I've become accustomed to on our other cruises - this was our 15th cruise - we only had towel animals on 3 nights and no chocolates on the pillows. On a positive note, our cabin steward knew us by name, our wait staff in the dining room was fantastic - but there was something missing on this huge impersonal ship. Read Less

Solerium "c". Overall food was the worst of the many cruises I have taken. Prohibition Night. This one is a joke. You have to pay $35 each and I cannot tell you for what. The Jazz Band is terrible. Half of the people walked out. No 1920's music by the band. If you like spending your money go ahead but be forewarned. The ship is beautiful. Main dining average at best. Had a table for 6 reserved for several months. When we arrived one couple was seated at one table, another couple seated at another table and the third was at a different dining room altogether. Took us a lot of effort to get past the manager and all was resolved by the third day! The first night we were basically told to go eat somewhere else and check back tomorrow night. Read Less

Firstly, I would like to write the positive things we experienced on our cruise. The cabin crew people, dining staff, restaurant operations people, the activities and service people were all very attentive and willing to make our cruise the best it could be. Restaurant Operations man, Glenn Dias stopped by each table in his assigned area every evening and asked if there was anything he could do and also inquired about any concerns or complaints we may have had. Unfortunately we found the food choices and quality substandard on any of our 3 previous cruises. I would compare the food to Applebee's and not a fine restaurant. One evening I ordered the duck and I wanted it to be cooked medium rare. My waiter said it is only served one way. The way I received it was overcooked and hard. Another evening my wife and I wanted the lobster tails and they said we could have all we wanted. My wife's was mushy and mine was rubbery. We refused when they asked if we wanted more. Our room was cleaned twice a day by a very polite and responsible woman. She asked if there was anything else we required. We did not have to ask for anything since she did such an outstanding job. The ship was simply too large for us. The ship does have a lot to offer and I want to give them positive feedback for everything we liked. Our cabin was well-equipped and there are many cabinets to store your personal items in every available nook and cranny. The bathroom were quite tight and my elbows rubbed the glass walls in the shower. I do not know how a large person can possibly use the showers or the toilet. The dining rooms were not as nicely appointed as our previous cruises on Carnival Valor or Holland America's- Zuiderdam or Westerdam. Those ships were very well lit and they tried to sit as many as possible close enough to the windows to have a nice view. Our dining hall on Oasis had curtains all over and we were continually stuck back in a corner. If you go on this ship make sure you do not choose My Time Dining. You will be subjected to waiting in line for 45 minutes or more or you may even be sent to another dining hall. The dining menus are not nearly as inviting as they are on Holland America or Carnival. Plan on receiving a 3 course meal as opposed to a 5 course meal on Holland America or Carnival. If you wish to go on an excursion or attend a show onboard, be sure to do it weeks or months in advance of your cruise or you may be left out. Our cruise was March 21st and I booked my excursions in early February and there were several already filled up. I did not realize the shows would be filled up in advance. We were only able to get into two shows since all the rest were booked for the entire cruise. The shows we did see were spectacular and well worth your time. The performers were professionals and you could not see a better performance on Broadway. I blame some of our disappointment on my ignorance of how quickly things get booked. I know now that we do not wish to go on a big ship again. The ship has 16 pools and you would think that every one could find a spot they would enjoy. There are plenty of chaise lounges and chairs available. On days that we were cruising and not stopping at an island we went to the pool. They had a volleyball tournament in one of the pools and lowered the depth to 2 feet. After the tournament was over they left the net up and the pool was invaded by about 30 kids who proceeded to splash and jump and dive and scream. This violates the rules which are clearly posted on each pool. Not one time did any of the ship's crew try to stop these kids from their wild and dangerous actions. Any adults that were trying to relax in that area were forced to leave and try to find some solitude. Unfortunately the kids even invaded the Solarium area which is supposed to be Adults Only. This was not the case. The ships offers an entire pool for kids yet there were few that stayed there. Apparently their parents don't know or understand the rules and did nothing to control their behavior. We made the mistake of cruising during spring break but it was the 14 and under kids who caused all the problems. There were 1200 kids on this cruise and that was no vacation for any adults who were trying to vacation. Plan on spending and 18% gratuity on anything extra you made purchase on the ship. If you go to the bar to get yourself a beer add 18% t that. Really??? All the bartender did was pop the cap and hand me the beer. Everything is ala carte. If you drink a lot of water or soda buy the drink plan and save. If you like alcoholic beverages, buy a plan that fits your needs and save. It is still not cheap but at least you can save a bundle. It is a nice ship but it has it's issues so please take heed to what I have said. Read Less

Oasis of the Seas is a truly beautiful ship that I think everyone should experience at least once. I'm going to write a small review for each part of our cruise. The Ship: Oasis is huge and has a lot to take in. There are tons of activities and many places to hang out so it doesn't seem to be too too crowded. This particular sailing it was sold out and seemed a lot more crowded than the first time we went in May 2014. She is kept very surprisingly clean for how many passengers are on board and how many public areas there are. The Ports: This is where I was really disappointed. We went on the Eastern Itinerary last May (Nassau, St. Thomas, St. Maarten) and Loved every second. I thought Haiti and Jamaica were severely lacking in activities. There wasn't a whole lot to choose from and the prices were ridiculous for what you were getting. Both Haiti and Jamaica were in enclosed areas that are owned by Royal Caribbean. Therefore, there's no way for you to get a deal with a local tourist attraction. Not to mention, Falmouth, Jamaica, is a minimum of a one hour ride to any of the activities. If you have already done Dunns River Falls there really isn't much to do in Jamaica. There isn't even a nearby beach to walk to. Most people go shopping in the immediate area and then crowd into Margaritaville before heading back to the ship. The only port we liked was Mexico and it's because it came with many more options and the freedom to go off on your own. We did a 2 reef catamaran snorkel which was fun and then rented a scooter and found a hidden gem of a beach. That's the only day we actually spent several hours off the ship. Service: On our May sailing we were spoiled rotten. Everyone was so friendly and attentive. We did not meet one unpleasant or unsmiling person. This time, we felt people were bothered when you would ask for drinks. The service in the dining room wasn't nearly as good either. We had to wait in very long lines even though we had a reservation. We usually like to stick with the same waiter but that was impossible. We were section hopping every night and the last night we got stuck at the front and were ignored for 30 minutes before we even got water. We just had the traffic of everyone coming and going from the dining room. We like to get shrimp cocktail every night but we weren't allowed to have it until the 5th night this time. It was the little things that really added up to disappointment. We went to Izumi for lunch and waited over an hour for 2 sushi rolls. When it finally arrived I have to say it really wasn't very good at all. Sabor, on the other hand, had a great lunch at great prices! The Room: We get an interior room as we don't have the money to get something better. It was also kept neat and clean. Never had any issues with noise or anything. We were forward Deck 10 right near the elevators. Activities: If you get bored on a RC Cruise then it's your own fault. There are literally activities all day every day. We spend a lot of our time at Dazzles. We went to the Prohibition Event which was fun. I was hoping there would be more time for dancing but there were contests and things instead. Having to pay an extra $30 when you already have an unlimited beverage package was kind of frustrating though. Embarkation and disembarkation is always a really smooth process. Read Less

The ship is clean with great options. The stateroom was never an issue. Blessed with an ever smiling attendant. The Deck Supervisor was attentive to a minor service issue. They unexpectedly decorated my room for my birthday, which gave me a nicely needed smile. My hats off to that hard working staff. Specialty restaurants: Just an insight as we have done this previously.... 150 /Central Park is expensive but a decadent experience. The up-selling of a cookbook DURING the meal was problematic during a 7 course meal. Giovanni's Table is delightful. Impeccable service, smiles, ambiance and more food than an Italy family could every want. Vintages is quaint / intimate if you enjoy trying new wines and embracing some quiet time. Wonderful staff. Dining Room / My-Time: Absolute disaster from previous experiences and ruined our cruise! (We previously enjoyed the staff and food). The staff was rushed, inattentive, and the food quality has diminished. A huge disappointment. A food allergy made me reluctant to eat there after a few times. I will simply put it as that. I reported the concern and was strongly met with opposition. The managerial staff was extremely negative. There was definitely more "up-selling" this cruise everywhere you went. Most of it just happens. I understand staff have no choice but they need better training and to be less intrusive.The ports... Nausau (stayed on the boat), St. Thomas (Magen's Bay is beautiful).. The downtown area is full of jewelry folks who stalk you, St.Maarten's is pretty also. I'm skipping Royal Caribbean next time due to the lack of customer service... Read Less

This was our second cruise on Oasis this year. We travelled on Oasis on January 2 and were very impressed. This was because we thought RCI had upped there game again and had went back to the standards that we expected of them. This time we thought they had once again lost there personal touch. The staff were fantastic all over the ship, but in general we thought that they had far to much to do especially in the main dining room.We went for breakfast on one occasion to the main dining room and the service was terrible. It seemed that the food was not coming from the Galley quick enough.We also found out that Head Waiters had to spend a lot of there time in the Galley trying to compete for service to there part of the Dining Room.We also on a few occasion's observed Head Waiters having to take orders and serve food. The Windjammer was atrocious and on the couple of occasion's we used it the food was cold,especially at breakfast.The Omelette station seems to have been done away with. My wife always looked forward to having an omelette made fresh for breakfast but this was to be no more in the Windjammer. Finally the entertainment was virtually the same as it was on January 2nd. We thought that there would be some change because of the time difference between each cruise. On the first outing on Oasis we could not get a seat in Comedy Central,thank God we couldn't because it is the worst thing we have ever seen entertainment ways on any RCI ship ever. The comedians were abysmal. Finally,Finally it was my wife and my 25th Wedding Anniversary while on board and RCI were fantastic. I would also like to thank Tyrone Howarth, the Piper I arranged through Guest Services for the beautiful set of tunes he played in the dining room the night of our Anniversary. This is something new that RCI have introduced and was one of the better things that had changed this time around. And finally,finally,finally,the stop off at Costa Maya was not a very good Port of call and I don't think RCI should keep it on their itinerary Read Less

Embarkation was a breeze. Very well organized. When we got on the ship, my first thought was WOW! This is GORGEOUS. From Central Park to the Promenade to the Boardwalk and other areas, the ship is beautiful. I felt like I was on EPCOT at sea. The pool areas were also beautiful. They have a gorgeous children's pool as well as pools for people of all ages. There is an adult only area, the Solarium, which has glass over it, making it unbearable hot in June. Maybe this is a good idea in the winter, but it was terrible this time of year. The fitness center and the spa were fabulous. The first thing we did is try to arrange the shows. We booked late and were unable to book the shows online. Fortunately, we arrived at about 11:30. If we arrived at 2PM (as the cruise line suggested), the line would have been enormous and we would have been shut out of some of the shows. We managed to book everything that we wanted, but the times were not great for us. We booked some things in the afternoon and some as late as 10:45PM. You really have to book the entertainment and then work the rest of your schedule around it. We then got on line for MyTime dining. We managed to get 8 o'clock each night. We also decided to book one of the specialty restaurants (Giovanni's) to see how the food compared. THE CABIN: We were able to get to our cabin at 1PM. We had a Central Park View on the 9th floor. The cabin really had no view. It has a porthole, but when you look out of the window, all you see is a glass enclosure which is over parts of Central Park. If you wanted a Central Park Balcony cabin, I would want to be on deck 11 or higher for any kind of a view. The cabin must have been designed for skinny midgets with little clothing. You were able to slide 2 suitcases under the bed easily. The cabin had 2 drawers, 6 shelves and a few tiny shelves behind doors. Even the nightstands had small shelves instead of drawers. The 6 foot wide bed was very comfortable and dominated the cabin. You also get a couch. The closet has a safe but here comes the problem. Because the safe and shelves take up so much room, the door only opens about 12 inches for you to hang your long clothing. Since they give you two bathrobes, you really only have about 8 inches for long clothing. On the other side of the closet you have two bars for hanging short clothing (shirts, shorts, folded slacks, etc). They give you a desk with a beautiful mirror but the 2 outlets are under the desk. You either have to crawl on the floor to plug anything in (or stand if you are the aforementioned midget) or, if you are smart, plug in the extension cord that you cleverly brought with you so you don't have to do this every time you want to use the outlet. The bathroom has a shaver outlet and everything else you need. Sort of. The sink is about 27 inches from the floor. The 16 inch by 10 inch oval sink was fine for the aforementioned midget, not for full size people. The shower door opened about 20 inches wide. Many people would not fit. There were 2 hooks in the shower to hang bathing suits, not a clothesline which works much better. The water pressure was fair at best. The room came with an interactive TV (no instructions). You could check your folio on the TV (I'm glad I did. I found 2 mistakes. Make sure you check it daily). You can also check the restaurant menus, the restaurant availability and the shows that you have booked. This was a VERY nice feature. There was a master switch in the cabin which must be on before you can turn the other lights on. Again, no instructions. The safe, of course, had no instructions either. ENTERTAINMENT: Even though the scheduling of the entertainment was annoying, the ship had the best and most varied entertainment that I ever experienced. We saw the musical Hairspray, ABBAcadrabra (an ABBA tribute concert), the Frozen in Time ice show, The Oasis of Dreams diving and synchronized swimming show, the Come Fly With Me production show with music and high flying acrobats and a comedy show in a 120 seat comedy club. There was plenty of other entertainment in the many different lounges around the ship as well. With a jazz club, a piano bar, a Latin dance club and other venues, there was plenty to do at night. It was all very well done. ACTIVITIES: Depending on your age and interests, they were either great or awful. They have a camp for children. All of the participants looked like they were having a wonderful time. They have a carousel on the Boardwalk. For active people, they have ice skating, full court basketball and/or soccer, rock climbing, a zip line, 2 flow rider pools, belly fop contests, miniature golf, table tennis and more. For the 50 and over crowd, there were few activities during the day. They had an art auction, bingo and wine tastings. Nothing free. DINING: In general, we were disappointed in the dining. The Windjammer cafe was set up in stations (which I like), but I found quality of the food disappointing. There was a Thai station, a station with mediocre cold cuts, a Pasta station with poor pasta, a station with international food (fair) and an area with poor burgers, hot dogs and french fries and a dessert station. By far the best food in the buffet was the salad bar. The Solarium had healthy food. The Park Cafe was good but VERY crowded. The Promenade cafe had mostly finger food. Sorrento's pizza was supposedly NY style but was much worse than anything I ever had in NY. The toppings were fresh but the crust was poor. If you wanted to pay for lunch, they have Johnny Rockets, a Seafood Shack and several specialty restaurants. That is where people had to go if they didn't want to wait on lines. The prices were fair, but you shouldn't have to pay for lunch. The breakfasts were also not particularly good. Water, lemonade, flavor enhanced water and iced tea and coffee were free. If you wanted fresh orange juice, it was available for $4.55 per glass. Most people found the coffee unbearably strong. I saw them sipping and making faces. Dinners were better. They had two seatings in the Opus 5 restaurants, 6PM and 8:30PM. They also offer MyTime dining where you can eat any time from 5:30 to 9:30. With the MyTime dining option, you had different waiters and different tables each time. I prefer to have the same waiter and table each time, but that was not available for me, as I booked at the last minute. Fortunately, the service at all meals was wonderful. The food was okay, nothing special. The desserts were not too good. We ate in one of the specialty dining rooms (Giovanni's) for the reasonable surcharge of $15 per person. I didn't feel that the food was any better there than in the dining room. Most of the specialty restaurants are in Central Park. If you plan on going to one, make sure you take an umbrella because it is all open getting to the restaurant. If it rains, you will get wet. Free frozen yogurt was available on the pool deck. If you weanted ice cream in the afternoon, they have an ice cream parlor on the Boardwalk where you may purchase ice cream. They did not have a midnight buffet. They did not have baked Alaska. CROWDS: This was the biggest problem. The ship has 2700 cabins. We had 6,093 people on the cruise. There were lines everywhere. Even with dinner reservations, we had to wait for our table at each dinner. One night, we had to wait about half an hour to be seated. They did bring free champagne to the people standing on line. If you didn't have reservations for a show (or dinner), you could stand on a long standby line to try to get in. There were many times you would go to a restaurant or a bar and have to leave because it was so crowded. Many nights, it was tough to walk from one end of the promenade to the other because of the pedestrian traffic. By the pools, chairs were jammed in one next to the other, making it difficult to get up and move around. There were ample chairs in the shade in the morning, but as the day got later, they were few and far between. SUMMATION: As with most cruise ships that I have been on, it has its strengths and its weaknesses. This ship might be right for some people but not for others. I found the crowds unbearable. I didn't like being on a schedule all of the time. One day, we had a 5:00 show, an 8:00 dinner and then a 10:30 show. Some days we had NO shows. You had to plan your schedule in advance and stick to it. If the ship wasn't filled to 113% capacity, it might have been better. If you are looking for a beautiful ship with excellent entertainment and great activities for people in their early twenties and below, this might be for you. If you are older and want better cabins, better food and a less hectic schedule, I would consider something else. Read Less

Arrived in Fort Lauderdale on May 7 and we stayed at the Hyatt Regency Pier 66 in the Tower rooms which was great (12 th floor with view of the Intra-Coastal Waterway and a perfect view of where the Oasis Of The Sea, docks.) We used Starz Limo and Car service for pickup and departure at the airport, to the hotel and the ship. They were very reasonably priced, on time, and we found this to be much better than waiting around to get a cab, especially after you depart from the ship. We arrived at the ship on Saturday about 12:30 Pm and check in was quick and orderly. We walked onto the ship (Promenade Deck) and went right to the Eighth deck to the Park Cafe for those Roast Beef Sandwiches. We did wait about 5 minutes to get a table, but it was well worth it. We went to our Balcony room (mid-ship) about 1:20 Pm and met our cabin steward, Patricia. The rooms are just a little smaller with less storage space for your clothes,etc. A Real Problem here is that it took quite a while for the room to cool properly. Another poor feature is when you open the door to go out on the balcony, the air conditioning in your room shuts off, even when you close the door behind you. The door must be closed from the inside and Sealed shut before your air conditioning goes back on. The ship itself, is just beautiful. Central Park is located on the Eighth deck and is really a sight to see, especially at night. There are a number of pools, a really nice Solarium, and plenty of lounge chairs, but it does get very crowded on sea days aboard the ship. The night clubs were nice and the entertainment was excellent. The food in the dining rooms was really a bit above average than normal, and the speciality restaurants (although somewhat noisy, had outstanding food quality.) I do remember from an earlier posting that Formal night was on the SECOND and SIXTH Night. Most guys were in a tux or a suit, but people are starting to get away from that due to the extra luggage charges the airlines have imposed. If you are interested in eating at any of the speciality restaurants, make reservations about 3 months before your cruise. The shows on the ship were for the most part, were excellent. Again, you must make reservations months before you go on the cruise or there is a good chance you will not be able to see the show. For Diamond and Diamond Plus members there were drinks served on Deck 4 at Blazes between 5Pm and 8:30 Pm daily, which was very nice. On the Fifth day of our cruise, there was a very foul waste odor at the rear of the ship (inside) around the elevator corridors on deck 7 and 8, which lasted about a day and was gone, nothing said. Lower room balconys just above the Boardwalk could get a bit noisy from activity in that area. In summary this ship is really BIG and BEAUTIFUL and is worth experiencing but after this one time we rather be on the smaller ships. For those of you who do not want a detailed, every day account of everything we did on this ship, skip to the last page, where you will find my summary. This review is 12 pages long and I hope it helps you decide whether or not this ship is for you. Good luck. Day 1 - Check in was very easy. Luggage did not arrive with us to the room. The room was nice. Small, but nice... you get what you pay for. I don't think the extra 80sf would have made much of a difference in our stay and we weren't about to pay $10k for a loft. The position of the room was just as we had planned it. Near the back of the ship, overlooking the boardwalk and the Aqua Theater. From our balcony, we had a great view of the ocean as well. We went to have lunch at the Windjammer, which is like their buffet/cafeteria. Neither the food, nor the selection were very good. We did have a nice view of the water from our table. Back to our rooms... still no bags. Eventually, we found them in the luggage room but they had not been delivered because apparently the baggage handlers had broken them. When we told the attendant that those were our bags, they brought them out to us and left them there for us to carry to our own room. I dragged a broken 70lb bag with no wheels half way across this huge ship. Then we went on to check our personal calendar on the TV monitor in the room. This would, ordinarily be an excellent tool for the cruise guest, however, ours was not working properly. Our days were all mixed up and, days were skipped, restaurant reservations where up for the wrong date and times. It was a disaster. So much so, that we spent the rest of our cruise utterly confused the entire time. We headed out for dinner at Giovanni's cafe. They could not find our reservation but sat us regardless. The first course was a beef Carpaccio which was quite good. The rest of the offerings were mediocre at best. For a "specialty restaurant," I was very surprised and quite disappointed with the effort put forth on each dish. The crab ravioli was not bad, but it tasted a bit fishy and had very bland overall flavors. The ricotta stuffed chicken was terribly prepared. I would assume that even in the regular dining room they would know better than to overcook chicken, and I certainly expect a little more care in a specialty restaurant. The veal was very nice and soft, but again, it appears to me that there were some very inexperienced cooks in the kitchen because the salt level on this dish was off the scale. I normally don't mind a little extra salt, but this was really excessive. Overall, the food on the first day, in general, was below average. The service in the restaurants were all above average. We then went around the ship looking for something to do but it was surprisingly dead. I went to the casino and blew $200 bucks on roulette in 10 minutes. Oops... Then we got out of there and went to the Aqua Theater to check out the show, "Oasis of Dreams." When we arrived, it was already pretty packed, so we decided to just go up to our room and watch it from our balcony, since we had an excellent view. The show was very good. With the limited sets and space, they put together a very entertaining act that we both rather enjoyed. Then we decided to check out the nightlife on the ship. Our first stop, Dazzler. We walked in, walked through and walked out. There were a few guests in the club, most of them much older than us and the music was extraordinarily lame. We then went to Blaze, which was supposed to be the happenin' club, with their "celebrity DJ???".... lame. We sat down for a couple minutes listening to Reggeton... We wanted to kill ourselves, so in order to avoid a terrible trajedy, we left and headed up to the Viking Crown Lounge on the 17th floor. Much more upscale. Mostly empty. But it was better than what we had seen so far. Almost on cue, right when we sat down, the trio band started playing Drive by the Cars. I immediately said to my wife, "oh, I love this song." I did, until the guy started singing. Let me just say that this is a Phillipino band and they have a bit of an accent. When the guy started singing, "who's gonna pay attention, to yoooooooo dweeeeeaaaamsss." My wife and I just started cracking up. We thought there was a hidden camera somewhere. As it turns out, it happens that it just wasn't his song, because after that, the kept playing and everything was excellent. Very talented band. The pianist, who also sang the first song, was very good and even sang pretty well some other songs. The guitarist had an awesome voice and did a great impersonation of Billy Joel and Joe Cocker. All in all, they were very good. We went home, went to sleep and got ready for day 2. Day 2 I'll try to make this quicker because otherwise I'm going to end up writing a book. We ordered room service which arrived at about 8am and ate the breakfast on our balcony. That was nice... the food, once again, was very ordinary. We ate and went back to sleep. We woke up super late, at about noon. Something we haven't done in years. That was a great feeling to be able to do that with no worries, no phone calls, emails, dogs to take out, cats to feed, etc... We decided to just chill most of the day. The personal calendar was still incorrect, so we had to make some calls and go to guest services to figure out what was on our itinerary. We ate at the Solarium, which is the "healthy food" on the cruise. That lunch was absolutely terrible. I cannot say that I actually liked anything. Wife thought food wasn't too bad, but yes, healthy. Never again. The we went to the gym and got a good shoulder workout. The gym is probably one of the best things on this ship. The best equipment I've ever seen. Great space. Great everything. Unfortunately, they do something very stupid. They charge you for every stupid little class. $12 fee/spinning class, yoga, pilates, etc... all for extra fees. Steam room $35/day. I mean, utterly ridiculous. These classes are included in just about every gym membership out there. And here, after you throw down $5k for a week, they want to charge you these stupid fees. Absurd. But the gym itself is something else. We wish we had a gym like that at home. Not even the Four Season's gym could beat that. After our workout, we went to the sports deck, where I played some basketball on a great court. Very nice space up there too, with ping pong and other games to play. It's necessary for me to point out that this is one of the areas where you don't have to pay for anything. We went back to the room, took showers and got ready for formal night. When we had on our tux and gown we headed downstairs to the photography studio, where we did a photo session for about half an hour before dinner. The photographer, Elaine from the UK, was very good and very professional and pleasant. It felt a bit rushed, but that's understandable because they were on a schedule. Then we went to have dinner at 150 Central Park. So far, the food on this cruise had been well below average. This dinner was a 9 out of 10. I'm not gonna go over every item on the tasting menu, but I can tell you that the only thing we didn't think was that great was the salmon with the fried dill. Could have been much better, but then again, I'm not a fan of cooked salmon. Other than that, everything on the menu was exceptional. No need to go into any further detail, don't ask any questions, run, don't walk there. You will not be disappointed. Service was impeccable as well. After dinner, we walked around a bit and tried to check out a couple of other venues. I was particularly interested in the cigar lounge because I smoke cigars... I was very disappointed. The "cigar lounge," looks nothing like a cigar lounge. It looks like a bar on a deck with a couple of beach chairs. No music, no band, no selection of fine single malts, no nice chairs or couches, nothing to make you feel like you were in a place where you can relax and smoke a nice stogie. Unfortunately, this is the only option for cigar smokers on the ship because at the Jazz club, where you'd think you might be able to light up a cigar, you can chain smoke Marlboro lights till everyone smells like a nicotine sewage, but you can light up a fine hand rolled tabaco. We then went back up to the Viking and had a very nice time drinking some very well priced McCallen 18's and listening to our favorite Philipino band. That's how we ended our night. Day 3 Woke up earlier, at about 9:45am. I had a bit of a hangover, but felt alright in no time. Wife wanted to go down to get a donut at their donut shop. I was surprised to find that I was not going to be charged for this, "specialty treat." However, after trying those donuts, I understand why I am not being charged. Wife thought the strawberry donut was pretty good. I thought they tasted like a wet napkin with glaze. I was hungover, crabby and hungry, so we went up to the Windjammer to try the breakfast. I guarantee that will be the last time I go to the friggin' windjammer. That was some terrible food, once again. I had a fresh squeezed oj, which was good and I also paid $3.95 for it. The we headed back to the gym and got another good workout. Back in the room, we checked our calendar on the monitor and still it was incorrect. They had not been able to fix it and apparently, they would not be able to fix it for our entire cruise. I spent some more time with guest services, trying to figure out what we were doing for the day. Then we tried to take a nap, but the wonderful placement of our room on the ship, backfired against us, because we had to listen to the most annoying and longest dance lesson in the history of dance lessons. They were teaching how to do the MJ Thriller dance and all we could hear was, and 1 and 2 and 3 and hip hip hip, 4 and 5... it was like listening to a rusty nail scraping a chalk board for one hour. No sleep for us. We should have look at the schedule. Our bad. The we got ready for more of the photography session. This time, we did a full hour with Elaine and one extra change of clothes. That was nice and we had a good time. People thought we had gotten married and we were getting congratulations all over the ship. Did pics on the boardwalk and casino and jazz club... very nice. Then we went to dinner at the Solarium. After my experience with the lunch there, I was very, very skeptical. Let me tell you, once again, dinner was magnificent. Yes it was a healthier option, but the food was very well prepared. The service was top notch. The room was beautifully arranged for an intimate dinner, with the exception of the soda fountain, which they had not covered and created quite the eye sore. Then we hit the casino, where I played a much more calculated game of Roullette. Won big on one of the early hands and made back my starting $100 bill. I put that away and then played the rest until I lost. We had a good time. Then we went to the comedy club, where again, I was a bit skeptical. I mean, a comedy show on a cruise ship..??? But it was really really good. Those guys were all hilarious. They picked on my wife and I constantly, but it was loads of fun. The guy called us the Latino Ken and Barbie. Then asked me if I sold drugs for a living. It was great. We called it a night after that because we had to get up early for the excursion in St. Thomas. When we got back to our room, they had given us a new piece of luggage to make up for the one they broke. But only one suitcase was replaced... hmmm... what's gonna happen with the other one... we'll see. I set the wake up call for 7am and we hit the sack. Day 4 I could hardly sleep, thinking about how we had to be up at 7am. I remember at 6:45am, I was awake, but figured our wake up call would come in at 7am. At 8:25am, my wife wakes me up. No wake up call. We had to be with the tour at 8:15am. I ran downstairs to guest services, pissed off beyond belief. I talked to Sam, who was the main person that I was complaining to about the other stuff. The next 20 minutes was a frenetic race to try to get us on that tour. We missed the boat by 2 minutes and watched them sail away right in front of us. We came back into the ship very upset. This was the thing that my wife was most looking forward to on this cruise. They tried to make it up to us by booking us on a scuba tour and refunding our money and whatever, but it wasn't going to make up for it. I didn't even ask what kind of refund we'd be getting. I'm sure they'll take care of us. We decided to make the best of the day. Had breakfast at the coffee shop, where we had these little sandwiches that were pretty decent. I'd rather eat here than at the windjammer any day. We went off on our tour, which was not bad, but it wasn't what we were hoping for. At the end of the day, we had a good time scuba diving in shallow depth. We had never done that before and I'm glad we got to try it. Now we might want to get certified in Scuba for real. There wasn't really a whole lot of fish or nice colors to look at, but I'm glad we did it. The rest of the island of St. Thomas was really kind of a shit hole. I guess the beaches are pretty decent, but nothing we hadn't seen before. The place looks like total crap. We decided to not even bother getting off in downtown and just passed on the island altogether. After Snuba, we came back to the room where a bottle of champagne awaited us, compliments of guest services for our bad experiences. It was a bottle of Korbel... they should have at least sent the Vueve. For lunch, I stuffed my face. Wife had some of those little sandwiches from Mondo cafe and I got some pizza. I had a couple of ok slices, but also had a specially made to order pizza that was really good. We felt pretty fat after that, so we went to the gym and busted our asses. I ran almost 4 miles and wife did a 5k. Then we worked out back. Went back to the room, got ready for dinner and headed out early at about 7pm, to Izumi, the sushi restaurant where they of course, charge a la carte prices. As expected, the food was ok. We are spoiled with incredible sushi in Miami so I understand that we are pretty hard to please. We didn't eat too much. Ordered a tuna carpaccio, which was good, a sashimi sampler, which was also pretty good and a champagne lobster roll which was really a bit sad. Sake wasn't bad. Overall, this is a decent sushi restaurant where, if you don't know any better, you'll probably think it's very good. The dEcor is nice, but as I often found in this ship, they miss little details here and there that should not be over looked. In this case, the soy sauce was on the table in its original Kikkoman bottle. Put it in a container guys... then we went to the Casino, where I did pretty good... by pretty good I mean, I got to play for a very long time and managed to break even. It was fun. We passed by that Headliner show starring a guy name Earl... I can't give you too much of an opinion here because we were there for only 5 minutes or so, but in those 5 minutes, I gotta say, we ran out of there as fast as we could because it looked terrible. Maybe it got better later but were not willing to stick around long enough to find out. Called it a night at a reasonable hour. Wanted to make sure we woke up on time for our tour the next day in St. Martin. Day 5 Sam had promised to make up for our non wake up call by setting up 2 wake up calls herself, one for 8am and one for 8:15am. I slept all night, tossing and turning, because I kept stressing about waking up on time for this next tour. We woke up with our cell phone alarm clocks at 7:30am, which I had set in order to prevent yet another disaster. I'm glad I did because those wake up calls at 8 and 8:15am never came. I went downstairs to get breakfast while wife got ready. Brought back some sandwiches, coffee and fresh squeezed Oj from Mondo and ate breakfast on the balcony overlooking St. Martin. What a beautiful Island and what a difference between this and that dump they call St. Thomas. Right after breakfast, we headed out to meet with our tour guide. The tour was called the Extreme, and it included canopy zip lining, hicking, obstacle crossing, etc... they warned you several times that this was not for the feint of heart, but honestly, I thought they were exaggerating because they always tell you something is scary when it really is nothing but a piece of cake. This was not the case here. The Extreme adventure is definitely extreme and a ton of fun. We were sweating our butts off... dripping in sweat. There were 13 zip lines and most of it was done with almost no supervision. It was definitely worth it, so if you think your legs and arms can take it, go for it. Best excursion I've ever been on. Came back to the ship for lunch, soaking in sweat and decided to try the solarium for healthy eats again. This time, it was very good. They had tacos set up for healthy chicken or steak tacos w/ guacamole. Very good stuff. We ate a lot, but didn't feel disgusting afterwards. Then we hit up the ice cream stand again and some dessert for wife at the windjammer cafe. After lunch, I dropped off wife at Vitality spa for a 75 minute Hot stone massage. Apparently, it was very good, unfortunately, they booked the "relaxing" massage in a room where they weren't supposed to when the ship pulls up anchor. The Spa is on the 5th floor and the Anchor was shaking the room like 10 on the Richter earthquake for about half an hour. Obviously, not very relaxing. I called the spa manager and she knew exactly what I was talking about, apologized and offered to comp our next massage, which was already booked for Friday. Right after the massage, we went down to the photo studio where they were going to show us the pictures from the last couple of days. The point was to take these beautiful pictures and then purchase one of their packages, which we were told "started" at $575. I thought that was a little steep because we take a lot of professional pics at home and pay much less, but I had figured, what the heck, we'll have some nice pics here on the ship. They showed us a beautiful slide show with about 175 wonderful photos of the two of us all over the ship. We loved it. Unfortunately, what they did not mention was the that $575 entitles you to ONE large print of your choice and 4 8x10's. No digital pics. So I would have to pick 5 pictures, of the 175 that we took and that's it. If I wanted something better, then next price point was $1,250. Followed by $2k, $4k, $8k, and finally for the last package you had the choice of turning in your car or giving them $16k. I thought, you know, even if I don't like the $575 package, I would be willing to look at the more expensive options, think that since the starting price point was $575, the next might be $700 or $850.... No... thousands of dollars for a handful of pictures. You have got to have a humongous pair of nuts to take all these beautiful pictures of us, show us a slide show and then tell us that the first decent package will cost me $2,000!!!! Even the $16,000 package did Um... yeah... we passed. Just so you get an idea of what we normally pay. The last shoot we did, we took about 250 professional and gorgeous pictures, paid $299 and received a 25x20 print and a CD with every single picture we took, which we can then print as we desire. For a $1,000 bucks, I can offer this photographer a free cruise, book him on this ship in an interior stateroom and have him follow us around for a week snapping pics. What a rip off. Very disappointing. We got ready to head out again. Went to the Casino, I lost a couple hundred bucks and called it a night. Went to a couple of the clubs. Lame. Lame. Lame. Went back to the room and had our own party. Day 6 Already getting tired of being on this ship. I feel like I'm locked in a giant tourist trap. Everywhere you turn, someone's trying to sell you something. You're working out at the beautiful gym and the whole time you have to listen to a loud, obnoxious seminar about how everything is bad for you and the only way to avoid or fix issue xyz is to buy their product, use their service, pay pay pay!!!! Come attend a jewelry seminar. We'll give you this piece, valued at $50 for freeeeee!!! You'll be so happy that you'll then overpay by 3 or 4 times the regular price for something else we offer you. It's making me a bit sick actually. We went downstairs to the Park Cafe, where we ordered some paninis. Pretty good actually. Sitting at the park and having those sandwiches without someone up my ass trying to sell me something was nice. Then we went to the pool at the Solarium, which is adults only and lounged around drinking champagne and mimosas all afternoon. Tonight was the second formal night. We had the tux and the dress ready to go, but we were just not into it. I think the next cruise we take will be when we have kids or when we are 60 so we can blend in with the rest of the crowd. Being from Miami and going out to South Beach and the nice areas, we are used to, um... let's just say, something else. Being in the regular pool area would mean that we are surrounded by kids jumping and splashing all around us. Being in the adult only area means you have to be retired. There were veeeery few people our age on this ship. Out of 6,000 people... it was amazing. I would love to see what the average age groups are on this ship. And we are here on college spring break, so you'd think it would be a fun party. Wrong. You are either toting around 4 kids, or your are wearing Hawaiian shirts and black socks to your knees. I guess the younger crowd can't justify spending $5k on a ship, when they can go on another cruise for half the price. I know this because we tried to get some friends to come with us on this trip and nobody wanted to spend so much, so we just did it ourselves. I guess that's the general consensus. If you're young (20's and 30's) and want to have fun with people your age DO NOT GO ON THIS SHIP! It was the same with the clubs. Dazzles, Blaze... so friggin' lame. Terrible music. Horrific crowd. So we decided to stay in the room and just avoid the ship all together for the rest of the night. We ordered room service... this was very good. Not because the food was outstanding, because it was not, but because I ordered it from the manager of the main dining room. I went up to him, personally and told him that my wife and I weren't feeling too well and would rather have the food delivered to our room. He called the order in himself and treated us very well. As a matter of fact, he over ordered, not at my request, just as a kind gesture. This was unnecessary because my wife and I don't eat like slobs, but it was kind and gracious of him, nevertheless. He ordered 2 appetizers, 3 lobster and shrimp platters and 2 huge prime ribs, along with 2 dessert sampler trays. I think we would have been find with 2 lobster dishes and 1 dessert. The lobster was not bad... maybe a little tough. The prime rib was decent, not a ton of flavor. The appetizers were not bad either. The dessert was really nice. Overall, it was a decent meal with excellent service... That was the end of our night... hit the sack early. Oh, by the way, we really weren't feeling very well. This ship is a very rocky and shaky ship. I've only been on 3 cruises, but I don't remember any of the others ever moving so much. We were both feeling a little nauseous all day. When I walked down to the main dining room, it was funny because everyone was walking side to side collectively because of the swaying of the ship. Day 7 I'm almost out of here. Really looking forward to my delicious bed at home and a nice, quiet night's rest. I can't say that I've had one REALLY good night's sleep on this ship. Allow me to explain why. The "King" bed is really 2 singles, put together with a mat on top. This mat is higher in the center of the bed then on the sides. The result is, I feel like I'm sleeping at a slight, but very disturbing angle the entire night. The second reason why I can't get some decent rest? This ship is very noisy. By noisy I don't just mean the music and the crowd. I mean, the ship itself. The sound proofing. I don't know if we just had bad luck with the people on the floor above us, but I swear it sounded like these people had 12 kids doing cartwheels at the craziest hours. Boom. Boom boom.... Booooooom. Badaboom. I mean all friggin' day and night. At any time you want to sleep. It was never EVER completely quiet. And forget about trying to take a nap during the day. The carnival downstairs and the aqua theater shows made it feel like you were in a muffled amphitheater in your room at all times. When there was no booming from upstairs or muffled music and people on loudspeakers downstairs, we were treated to a constant creaking sound that I guess stemmed from the fact that the ship was swaying so much. By the way, they still have not fixed our personal calendar. We went out to the main dining room for the "royal breakfast." As we headed out, we noticed that we had been double booked for 2 specialty restaurants so I called the reservations desk to explain to them that we needed to cancel one of them. I cancelled 150 central park, but then they told me I only had that one reservation. I explained that I had a card in my hand that read that we were confirmed for tonight at Chops. The guy told me that he went ahead and cancelled 150 but that there was no other reservation. So basically, now I didn't have a dining option for tonight and he made no effort to fix it... I just hung up and figured we'll just go to Chops and hope for the best. I'll take the card with the confirmation with me. It will be interesting to see, when I get the bill at the end of this cruise, how much of a disaster it's going to be. Looking forward to that. We had the "ROYAL" breakfast with was average, again. I had the crab cakes benedict... not that great. I left most of it on the plate. At this point, I'm pretty used to the disappointing food. Today, we are heading to Atlantis in the Bahamas where we have tickets to the water park. This should be fun, so I'm looking forward to it. I just dropped off wife at Spa for her complimentary massage. Hopefully it will go well for her. Looks like the massage went pretty well... until, of course, they tried to sell her a package that she absolutely MUST HAVE!!!! For only $1,500 they offered her a wonderful detox package. She has had this on other ships before for about 1/3 of the price. She also has had it here in Miami for about $300. It's shocking to me the prices that these people continue to throw at us. I am actually beginning to feel insulted. It's like, "how much is this glass of water?" "well, sir, today, for you only, we have a special. You can take that glass of water home for only $149.99!" It's amazing. My wife and I go through money at a pretty ridiculous rate. We go out to eat several times a week and I'm not talking about cheap places. We go to all the best restaurants in Miami. A typical bill for us on an average night out is $150-200 for dinner and wine... and that's just for a regular week day that we decide we want to grab a quick bite. And to us, these prices are so absurd that we have to really wonder, who in their right mind thinks, "Ok, $1,500 isn't bad for this detox package. Or $4,000 is an acceptable number for these photographs. Am I missing something here? We do very well in our household. Probably in the top 10% of income, but even if I were in the top 5%, I have a sense for the value of money, where I simply do not think I could pay some of these ridiculous prices. So who buys these things? Well, the trip is pretty much winding down. There are some good things and some bad things, but overall, we've had a good time. Definitely not what we expected. We decided to end the night with a bang. Went to Chops Grille for dinner. Chops looks like your typical, cruise specialty restaurant/steakhouse. Despite the confusion earlier with the reservation, they sat us immediately, as has been the case for all the specialty dining. The service was, again, stellar. My wife ordered the sashimi trio, cured in star anise, which was excellent. I had the lobster carpaccio which was, not that great. When the waiter came by to ask how the food was, I told him I really liked the fish trio. So he went and brought me one too, without me asking. Very nice. I almost wish he hadn't because I ended up eating too much. But it was a nice gesture and it really was an excellent appetizer. The waiter continued to attend to us very well, constantly refilling our wine glasses. For our entrEe wife had the filet mignon and I had the short ribs and we shared the mashed potatoes, mushroom and bock choy and potatoes with parmesan and prosciutto, which is one of the best sides I've ever had. Everything was absolutely top notch. Oh, and the desserts were amazing. Chocolate cake was phenomenal and the berry mouse dessert was perfect. We couldn't stop eating it. At the end of the night, the manager came to our table and had a nice conversation with us and then we headed back up to the room. All in all, as has been the case with the specialty restaurants, the service and quality were better than anything else you'll find on a cruise ship. As I said, we went back up to the room and called it an early night. It was a good way to end our cruise and we didn't want to screw it up by visiting another cheesy club. Day 8 We took the morning to pack our suitcases and head out. I had an issue with the bill, as expected, but it was quickly resolved when I went down to the guests services. I don't know if everyone else had as pleasant an experience with guest services as I did because I made sure to speak to a manager every time, so really, I don't know how the rest of the customer service attendants resolved other matters. Unfortunately, I spent too much time down there and there were way too many mistakes for a cruise of this caliber. Exiting the ship was painless, until we arrived outside. We had been dropped off by a friend when we arrived, but we had planned on taking a cab to Miami on the way back because I didn't want to bother anyone with picking us up. I had no idea there would be a line of 200 people to get a cab. It was terrible. I ended up hitching a ride with a van that was headed to Miami Int'l Airport and my wife and I crammed into the front seat together. It was a very uncomfortable ride, but it was much better than standing in line for an hour, waiting for a cab. Summary I've written 8 pages worth of information here that will hopefully help the next cruiser make a decision about this ship. I know these reviews help me tremendously when I'm trying to decide where I'm taking the next trip, so I'm trying to do the best I can. I have complained about a lot of things, but I think I've given credit where it is rightfully due. In this summary, I will rate a few of the major categories and touch upon some of the things I really liked and really hated. Food - B + Average throughout the ship. Fantastic for most of the specialty restaurants. Breakfast was usually pretty average, but there were some good alternatives throughout the ship. Selection was relatively plentiful. Paninis in Park Cafe were good. Mondo Cafe had some nice little sandwiches. Solarium had some good options. We only tried the main dining room food one night and that was delivered to our room... not bad. If I were rating only on the specialty restaurants, I'd give it an A+ (except for Giovanni's, which was about a C) Service - A Excellent service pretty much in every category, particularly the specialty restaurants, but also at guest services, where I imagine they have a lot to deal with. Sometimes the phone service wasn't so great, but I imagine they must have had their phones ringing off the hook with all the screw ups on the ship. Room - C- Nice looking rooms, but way too small. We had our luggage out in the balcony the whole time. If you misplaced a couple of things, the entire room looked like a disaster. Do not over pack. Gym - B+ I would give this an A+ if it weren't for the fact that something as common in a decent gym as a spinning class carried an extra charge. The gym itself is the best gym I've ever used, period. Nightlife - D- Some good musicians throughout the ship saved this from being an F. These venues are all so cheesy and the crowd is a total joke. If you are in your 20-30's you will not find a dang thing to do in this entire ship at night. Your only hope is to get completely obliterated at the bar, then maybe you'll find the nice 60 year old couples dancing to be a pretty good time. Spa - C Overpriced. Spa time is supposed to be relaxing and, although the massages were average, my wife tells me it's hard to relax when you've got the anchor shaking your room like an earth quake. It's also hard to find relaxation when the entire time you are there they are on top of you, trying to sell you other packages, other products, etc... it felt like a used car dealership. Sports zone - B- families might find this to be an A. I could go without watching 200 children running around all day, but that's just me. It was kind of a pain to get to try some of the things that you read about. I'm not on a cruise to make an hour line for a wrist band, so I never tried the flow rider or zip line. Near the end of our trip I could have because the lines had died down, but I still didn't want to make a line to try the flow rider for 3 seconds, then fall on my face and get on the back of the line. I enjoyed the basketball court, the ping pong, the pools were nice, but too many kids pushed me to the solarium. Solarium - B - this was a much nicer space, but again, not our crowd. Nobody our age. I imagine this would have been a great time for us if we had some people in our age group to talk to. Lots of nice Jacuzzis and pool areas, with decent, healthy food. Windjammer - D This was a total cluster screw. Kids running around everywhere. Food was total junk. Not even delicious junk. Just bland, sad, uninspired food. Always jam packed. No thanks. Boardwalk - B Nice space. Even with the kids, it was nice to see them busy doing something. Face painting and other such activities were nice. Carousel was nice enough that my wife and I got on it too. Aqua theater was nice, but I expected something better. It was hyped up quite a bit and really, I was a bit let down. But the reason this space didn't get an A was because all the good stuff, you had to pay for. I thought that the $2k/person price tag for my stateroom should have included the ice cream parlor and something as cheesy as Johnny rockets. The donuts were free, but they were probably the worst donuts I've ever tried. I have never in my life, taken a bite out of a donut and said, "you know what, I don't want the rest of this..." Well, there's a first time for everything. Central Park A - Again, I was a bit let down. The hype surrounding this was pretty out there. When I saw it in person I was a bit disappointed. A couple of hundred feet of park, they had made it sound like it was a tropical paradise on a ship. Not so. However, the space still gets an A because of all the great dining venues on the strip. I'm glad we had very pleasant weather because we were able to comfortably enjoy our time out there. If it weren't for that ridiculous Photo Studio, I would have given it an A or A+. Promenade - C+ I didn't really enjoy it down here too much. I felt the stores were cheesy, the prices were terrible and it was always crowded. I didn't give it a lower score because I did enjoy making my own pizza and the cafes were not bad. But really, you'd think that coffee, being one of the world's most plentiful and cheapest commodities would be free for all guests. I guess Starbucks would never agree to that. Shows - D I suggest you see these for yourself, because I don't trust my own opinion here. If it's not broadway, I probably don't like it. Maybe you will. We tried watching Hairspray, the Headliner and the Frozen in Time show and walked out after a few minutes. So you can compare, we watched Phantom of the Opera and Wicked our last trip to NY and loved every second. So, I don't know what to tell you. The comedy show was an absolute blast and one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. Everything else, I could live without. Ship C+. It's a beautiful ship. I might have enjoyed it more if we hadn't been researching everything about it for 6 months before we boarded. Perhaps we ran up our expectations too highly. I do have a problem with the stability of the ship. I thought this was going to feel like an immovable object because of the sheer size. Instead, it was the shakiest ship I've ever been on and it was a bit nauseating. I thought that for having 6k people on board, the guests were pretty well spaced out. It was rare to feel crowded or to bump into the same people twice. Casino B -. was a decent size and had some good options. I wish they had some more roulette tables. It was above average, nothing spectacular. Price D. Not worth it. Overall, for the 2 of us, we spent about $6k. For $6,000 I can think of a couple of dozen trips I would rather spend a week of my life taking. Other things we enjoyed - Viking Crown Lounge, ice creams at wipeout cafe, make your own pizza at Sorrento's, Wall-E on the big screen at Aqua Theater. At specialty restaurants, you could pretty much order as much food as you wanted and they really didn't give you a hard time about it, even if it was two entrees. Drinks were well priced throughout the ship. Definitely less than what we're used to paying here in Miami. Wine selections were pretty good and you could take your bottle with you when you were done with dinner. Other things we did NOT like - .55/minute for Internet usage. I'm paying $4k to stay in this room, you could give me free internet for crying out loud. Photography, not just at the "Picture This" studio, but all around the ship was annoying and ridiculously priced. $20 for lost towels... come on man... If I lose it, I'm sure it'll turn up somewhere... pick it up for me and put it back. The fact that Johnny Rockets is advertised as something special was pretty disorienting for me. The broke our two pieces of luggage, but they repaired one and replace our largest one with two smaller ones. It was nice of them to replace them, but I've got 10 medium sized pieces of luggage in my house, I really needed that big one. I could not believe that this ship did not have a decent cigar lounge. If you are a cigar smoker, you have nowhere to smoke a decent cigar but you can sit at the bar next to some chain smokers for that oh so good second hand cigarette smoke. Only cigar lounge was out on the deck... and as a cigar smoker, wind is not your friend. Overall Rating - C Read Less

We were on the oasis January 2nd sailing,the 5th sailing.Our group of 20 plus people booked it back in September 2008, so needless to say we were very excited and had high expectations.This cruise was a disappointment compared to our other ships we have cruised on in the past. We have been on 20 plus cruises with royal Caribbean and 4 with carnival. Always recommended r.c. to everyone but after this cruise may be going back to carnival. We also have been on the bigger ships such as Independence and Freedom with very few complaints. We actually got married on Freedom in 2008 and had a great experience. I will start with some good things about the ship...Getting on the ship was a breeze. we got there early and got on the ship shortly after that. People were all very friendly and helpful. It was a bit crazy outside before getting to waiting area though. The ship is huge and absolutely beautiful. It was overwhelming at first but so amazing. Our stateroom attendant was the best we ever had and also the friendliest.most of the bartenders were great and friendly also.Our dinning room staff was not all that great and slow. We got a couples massage like we do every cruise, this one was by far the best. The spa was amazing along with the solarium area. Peter at the piano bar was great! He loved our big group, we were there every night after we found him at the schooner bar. Sorrento's pizza is always good. The seafood shack for lunch was very cool atmosphere and great food. Too bad it was cold and rainy alot.The shows we did get to see were great,especially the ice show and hairspray!The quest is always a fun game to play, it was a bit different on this ship but you should still try it. You will laugh! Here are some complaints which there are quite a few... The ship was way to big, hard to find people unless you have a plan to meet somewhere. Bring walkie talkies if you can. The ship was easy to find places with the help finders on the walls ,but finding your group was a nightmare. All of the speciality restaurants, shows, entertainment were booked before we got on ship. Who wants to book everything prior to going on ship. You want to relax on vacation not have to book everything prior. We did get to some shows because we went to them at the time and we could still get into a few. We actually skipped dinner 4 nights and that is how we got to go to 2 of them. The food was not very good especially at main dinning. We looked at menu in advance and then decided not to go to dinner that evening, so we thought if it was just 2 of us we could check out some speciality restaurants. But of course booked until end of cruise! This ship offers alot to eat,and to do but if you didn't book it prior to ship leaving everything was booked. That was no fun at all, we want to relax and not have to have all of our plans for the whole week.Also first night at main dinner they had 3 groups of 14 at one table. It took along time to figure it out and dinner was then delayed the first night. Way too many RUDE foreigners! Like 90 percent of the ship.The past few r.c. ships we went on have gotten progressively worse ,but this one was by far the worst. It made our trip aggravating when we are constantly getting cut in front of at meals, bumped in to , over crowed in elevators, bathrooms left dirty(such as paper towels left on counter and not in trash. A woman actually ran over my foot with her luggage and kept moving without saying anything. My quiet husband who never says anything was so mad at this point he went and spoke to her about being so rude.No please,thank you or excuse me!Just plan rude with no manners! We have heard other cruise lines were not as bad so we may be trying another line if we cruise again.Too many smoking areas on ship. Couldn't enjoy areas because of smoke. Especially the casino! The rooms were small,little storage,little balconies, bathrooms were bigger though. You could hear through the walls. Especially from hallways. We could here the rooms next door tvs. luckily they were all people we knew next to us. The boat rocked so much, probably because it was too top heavy and the middle of ship being open. It pretty much moved 24/7. yes weather was not great,but not that bad. We met other cruisers on smaller ships who were not moving all that much.It is not good if people get see sick, Get the prescription patch for the week just in case. The pool areas were packed like usual, you just need to get out there early if you want a good chair.watch on saving chairs,they have pool security who time you if you go away from your chairs. The hot tubs and solarium were great, but never really got to use them because they were always overly packed. The staff was really strict on the ship pertaining to everything. Especially the diamond, plus clubs. They took alot of things away and wouldn't let you leave rooms with drinks. wouldn't let spouses in if they were not members.They always did before. Actually the staff was just really rude when it came to us members. They basically talked and looked down to us. Getting off the ship at the end of the trip was a joke. Not organized at all and again rude staff. We had a member in our group who got interrogated and threatened to get thrown of at next port for buying a drink for a minor. which the bar is 18 and up so if they just met someone and bought a drink how would they know? Especially now a days people do not look there ages. If they are going to let 18 and older in bars they need a wrist band or something. All in all this was the worst cruise our group has gone on. It was not worth the money or the expectations at all. We definitely recommend any ships in freedom class for sure over the oasis. I cant believe i am saying this ,but we are taking a break fro r.c. for a while and checking out another line because of our moderate week of vacation. We need a vacation from our vacation! Read Less

Decided to propose and get a fancy suite for the occasion. The strawberries and champagne were to arrive night one at 8pm. After it got to be 8:30, I called room service and they indicated they would call back. Never heard back. When I spoke with concierge the next day, they said I requested for the following day. After I showed my email with the correct date, didn’t even receive an apology. Was just trying to make everything special and the flow of the proposal was kind of thrown off. When they did arrive the next night, the card even reference the date from the day before. Other issues: Pictures from our 1st night never showed up on our picture card. Sad we never got them back so we setup a studio appointment at picture this. Very nice photos but extremely expensive. The packages went up to $3500, with the cheapest being $550 for 6 digital pics. Water in shower suite fluctuates from Luke warm to scolding hot constantly. Crew pressure washing windows at 2:30 am on two separate nights. Waited for 30 minutes in excursion line in Mexico and no one ever showed. When we called, we were told it was there and we didn’t go. We may have made an error and went to the Liberty excursion line, but the signage was very poor. Regardless, we didn’t any cared after they got our money. The positives were the dining experiences at the specialty restaurants. Probably the best part of the experience and we’ll worth the price to upgrade. 150 Park is the best of them. Another positive was the unboarding process with a suite. We were out in 15 minutes and avoided all the lines at customs. Overall, I was very disappointed and didn’t feel I got the value for what we paid or that anyone cared about the issues. I’ll probably pay a few extra bucks and try Regent next time. Read Less

We were super excited about going on the biggest ship in the world (it was when we booked it, then the Symphony came along and ruined that plan :) ) I had written a nice long review about the ship and its features but opted for an easier to read version. The boat is huge but still crowded. there aren't enough seats inside to house everyone at night, especially if its raining and the aqua theatre is closed. Don't believe me? there's a lounge for suites guests so they can go relax in their own little haven away from the 6000 other guests. Food: Windjammer - basics like burgers and hot dogs are on at lunch and dinner, and are cruise ship average. Entree options are decent for lunch and dinner, if a little bland. Food is constantly cold. Honestly didn't eat a hot meal in windjammer my entire vacation. Main Dining Room - Options are good. Food was hot, service impeccable. Food was too salty for me but still a decent option. The Smart portion of Smart Casual attire wasn't enforced. I noticed a fair number of guests dining in Short and T's or baseball jerseys without an issue. Sabor Mexican Grill - Food was great, service was average. Entertainment: You MUST pre-book your entertainment and you MUST attend on the night you planned to see it. if you don't, you'll have to queue at Guest services to rebook or remove your reservation, and who wants to stand there while you are on holiday? Comedians were good, one was a little racist, but not in the usual funny way, sounded more like an angry drunk than someone pointing out the cultural differences in an entertaining manner. Ship: For it being a $5million a week boat it certainly doesn't look like it (6000guess x $750 = $4.5m, I rounded up as 750 is the inside cabin rate) The ship is generally unclean, the windows are streaky, there's dust everywhere (look in the corners) and it just looked generally dated. Would I go again?: No. I can excuse the ageing of the boat, it is getting a bit older. I can excuse the food, its impossible to cater to everyone taste. I can excuse the weird booking system for shows. What I cant excuse is all of them together. Too many little things on board made it difficult to enjoy. For our 30th anniversary and we have never been on a Royal Caribbean cruise but we have heard how great they were. The room was very small and it was a balcony. The steward was excellent . The main dining room is good and the service was excellent but they should have a better menu selection. The buffet was good but very crowded . I like how they find a table for you but the menu was only ok. The recreation activities were excellent with no crowds. The 150 Central Park restaurant was excellent but the other fancy restaurants are too expensive because they have fees + a la cart options . The shows were all disjointed and made no sense. They do have some very talented performers but not good story lines. The fitness and spa area was over priced and there fitness staff is unqualified but that is the same on all cruise lines. They promote alcohol way too much and shopping is too much also. The cruise director was very low energy and boring. We had issues with our excursions because my wife was sick and customer did nothing to try and fix it. Labadee Haiti was beautiful and I will go back. The ship is huge but very easy to navigate. I liked the art auctions and the ship was beautiful. Embarkation was horrible it took 2 hours to board and we were early. Even though we had issues I will go back. Read Less

Second time on Oasis, fourth overall time cruising with RC. I was a loyal customer to RC, first two times cruising were on Freedom Class ships. Went on Oasis 2 years ago and had a blast, just back from Oasis, not pleased. So I'm going to jump around I'm sure while I type this out so I apologize. Lets begin with our first stop, the beautiful RC resort of Labadee. We never got off. Unfortunately, last minute the captain came over and said we were not going to be docking due to the waves coming over the pier right where its about to connect to land. We were no more than 25-30 feet away from the pier and ready to dock. I got up early to watch and was able to see the waves going over the pier, yes they were splashing over but it was not terrible. The forecast was for a sunny day. My complaint is, there was no waiting a little bit to see if things got better. I say this because the wind was dying down and the sun was supposed to come out. We just pulled back out and left, no explanation from the captain that the weather forecast was not favorable for the waves to die down in the near future. Just backed out of the port and left. Good news was we were going to get into Falmouth two hours early. Great, right? Wrong. We booked an excursion and due to the meeting time, would not have enough time to explore. You'd think since were going earlier, our excursion would be earlier right? Wrong. Prior to the new arrival time, we had accepted that exploring outside of the excursion time frame was not feasible. But with the new arrival time, we were initially excited but in the long end of it, didn't mean anything to people who booked excursions. We did the Dunns river falls and bamboo beach club excursion. yes it was neat to see the falls but you spend 1/4 of the day standing/sitting around waiting and a 1/4 of the day driving (that's understandable). Also to the two older Danish women who were on my bus and i hope read this, thanks for wasting 45 minutes of everyone's time trying on 10 pairs of water shoes, we should have left you on that island. FUN FACT: I was told from multiple people that Disney and RC were going to stop going to Falmouth and ending their contract or however they do it. Why? The island is supposedly dangerous (haha) and the people are very pushy. But due to the recent hurricanes and destruction of other ports, RC was "forced" to sign another two year contract. The last stop was Cozumel, which the captain said would be partly sunny. So we booked a last minute beach excursion because we missed the beach time at Labadee. It poured ALL DAY. So the frustration was high. Side note, if you do a beach excursion that includes alcohol, be weary of the bottom shelf tequila your served. You may find yourself basking in the sea enjoying your down pouring cloudy day, to gargling sea water and dying on your beach chair. (gotta make light of this all right?) Great i think that covers the ports. NEXT! RC i think cut out a lot of daily at sea activities compared to my time on Oasis two years ago. Which i have no idea why. But what they do have now for activities is still pretty good. Booked the comedy show for an at sea day online well before the cruise date because its impossible to get in if you don't. Well for some reason it never showed up when we got onto the ship. Went to guest services and they couldn't do anything because the shows now, were all booked. Very frustrating. Anyone going on this ship in the very near future, look at the air intake vent right above your cabin door inside the room. Use your flashlight on your phone so you can see inside the vent. Yes you will be breathing that all in on your trip. For those wondering, it was caked in dust and god only knows what else. It was absolutely disgusting. I don't blame the stateroom attendant because its clearly a HVAC persons job since then vent cover has screws that need to be undone to clean inside of it. That's definitely not the state room attendants job. Room was cleaned at least twice a day and have no complaints there, she did a great job. Dining room was great and staff were fantastic. Food was great in there. Windjammer cafe, well its buffet food, it was as good as buffet food will ever be. Bars were great but service on the pool decks was very slow, but then again those were at sea days and the weather was great so there was a lot of people on the decks getting lost in the sauce. Staff in general were great but did occasionally find a bartender who seemed grumpy, but with that many guests, I'm sure they had their fair share of impossible to please guests. If you decide to hang out in the the Solarium on one of those fantastic looking lounge chairs. Just be weary and double check them before you commit to that one. Many are old and sagging a lot, or even torn. Found myself on more than one occasion having to move because I was laying on top of the aluminum supports underneath the fabric. Not comfortable for a day you planned on relaxing. But last complaint for anyone who may not have noticed. The points on cruises from their older benefits tiers have changed. I have cruised 34 days in total and am somehow short one point to the next level above gold. I called RC and after a brief conversation consisting in short of me being told to pound sand, I still am a gold member, remember people I have cruised 34 days with them and am still in the first level. If i book another cruise with them, do i get to reap the benefits of the next tier after day one of my cruise? NOPE! I do not get to enjoy anything until the cruise after. For those of you who had made it this far reading the review, no I do not live close enough to a port to do a quick 3 day cruise with RC. All in all, it will be a very long time till I sail with RC again, if at all. Princess cruise lines, your up next, I've heard great things. Read Less

We chose this ship for the ports of call and we didn't even get to set foot on the first location, haiti. The second, jamaica was great. but, we had to take our lives in our own hands to educate ourselves about the terroristic activities on our own because even after the american embassy in mexico was closed for safety concerns, the cruise staff directly lied to our faces and denied any problems with the ferry trips over to playa del carmen to participate in royal caribbean sponsored shore excursions. Only to wait and cancel all our pre-planned and pre-paid excursions to that area the night before. Although we did receive a refund of our money, all the comparable shore excursions were already booked full and the staff couldn't care less. there was a diamond in the ruff to be found amongst it all; his name was daniel and he worked in the tiffany & co. Boutique. He was the sweetest and genuine fella we met during the whole week. Not once did he poke his nose up at us in a snobby manner. In fact, this redneck girl's amazing husband just so happened to purchase a nice gift for me in that very store. Food was nothing to write home about. They definitely pushed the specialty dining over and over for another charge. We will give our business to a different cruise line next time. Read Less

We chose this cruise on Oasis as a little romantic getaway and splurged on the Crown Loft Suite. While most of our cruise was great including speedy embarkation, awesome venues and our favorite place, the Coastal Kitchen; RC began a major construction project on the roof above us that lasted the entire week. The hammering, drilling banging and grinding that went on above us from 8 am to 6 pm was totally unbearable. On Monday, we inquired about the noise and asked if they could switch us to another room but were told that the project was complete and that it would be quiet for the remainder of the cruise....? Tuesday morning, we woke up to the banging again...and Wednesday and Thursday.....it never stopped! I recorded the noise every day and played it back for anyone that would listen?? My Concierge, my room attendant, the hotel administrator....? Finally on the Friday they offered to switch our room? seriously....? We had a day and a half left on our cruise? Thank you, but no....I would have gladly moved on Monday, but with one day left, we were not packing up our entire room and moving. When we returned to our room later that night, they offered us a 30% Future Cruise Credit which was nice....but did very little to make us feel any better about the way we feel they had treated us and the loss of this cruise. Our cruise cost us over ten thousand dollars including flights, hotels etc., and they offered us $1308 for me and $654.00 for DH to use toward another cruise...as nice a gesture as this was, if I'd had the option ahead of time, I would have chosen NOT to have a discounted CLS that was under construction. I know there are many people out there may have opted for the 30% discount and lived with the noise....but I would have chosen to PAY MORE for some PEACE & QUIET!! Read Less

Got a last minute deal and was closer to drive for us Windjammer breakfast was poor, overdried toats,dried waffles,hard pastries (croissants,donuts for the whole week),missing fruits, missing tables and lots dirty tables. Main dining room for supper :often tables not ready (wait time 20 min) food overcooked (fish,lobster,lasagna) and often not hot,(lukewarm) often brought coffe after we had finished our desserts.. People not very friendly compared to other ships We have cruised over 30 times. Our luggage had the handle broken when arrived in our room ,ok they fixed it but it was brand new. Often washroom was missing soap at different floors and Royal had just had bad experience with over 300 passengers sick about 2 weeks earlier,we figured the ship would be always clean and spotless (not the case). Plus side,stateroom attendant very good and room kept well cleaned. Very good shows and headliner show,good spa experience. Guest service after midnite is limited to only 1 employee ,so expect long delays especially on the last night. Read Less
