We choose it because it is the largest cruise ship sail the seas to date and it was a Royal Caribbean Ship.we had not been able to cruise because of health reasons for a while but wanted to try again.I was disappointed with the Quality and preparation of food ,the ability of the entertainment team to have thing to fill in for the cancelled shows from the rough weather. If this had been my first cruise ever ,it would have been my last but we have cruise Royal Caribbean numerous times before and know they are better than this. Cats Musical was great ,Dive show was canceled so much you had to catch it when you could but it was great as well.Ice skate show was also very entertaining. Windjammer market restaurant was too small for the number of guest on the ship,it was hard to find a seat to eat.Dining room wait staff at times seem to be overwhelmed with the amount of people. Ship has a great layout with a full walk/jog deck, many restaurant Venus (although very pricey) and great entertainment including ice and water shows. Fitness center is in great need of updating. Central Park area is a nice respite from the congestion onboard. I enjoyed sitting out there with my morning coffee. Medical facility is terrible. Anything other than a cut and they try to kick you off the ship. My husband had some heart issues which already had medication for an just wanted a consult. $2100 later they tried to kick us off in st thomas with no way home. They can’t do that and we threatened to sue. Have been on other cruise lines and were never treated this rudely. Very incompetent medical staff who talks behind your back and makes eye motions to colleagues suggesting you are stupid. This of course impacted the whole cruise with a negative tone. Read Less

While this cruise has some positive points the overall negative points stand in my mind and won't allow me to recommend it to any others. Too much up selling from the minute you get on the ship: Central Park is nice, but only one very small complimentary restaurant. The others that line the park are all specialty restaurants. More than half of the daily events have a charge for them. If they don't they are offering "free clinics" on how to improve your weight, health, gait, etc. You can be sure there is a product for them to sell at the end of the "free clinic". No personal toiletry items in the shower. I didn't bring body lotion or hair conditioner because it's a staple on cruise ships. Not this one. They have streamlined all the goodies that are free. No flower arrangements in the dinning room, no bud vases on the tables, not even a chocolate on the pillows at night. It seems that they have taken away all the frills that might make you feel special and have replaced them with "an option to purchase" that pampering that the cruise usually offers. The food in the Windjammer was not very good. Quality and temperature of the food was poor. Lots of fatty pieces of beef, greasy hamburgers, cold fires. Repetitive menu - So, if you found something you liked, you can be sure it would be there again for the next six days/nights. Food in the dinning room (My Time) was better than the Windjammer, but I would not rate it better than "average". Desserts were not really worth the calories. The positive about the negatives regarding the food is that you won't gain weight on this cruise. Shows were typical of cruise ships. Nothing great, but hey, there's no surprise there. Overall condition of the ship - she's showing her age. Not still not bad. Cleanliness of the boat was 100%, Pool area was nice (adults have their own area). Plenty of chairs and selection of sun/shade First time with a balcony - will do it again. Loved it! Embarkation and disembarkation was easy. Staff was helpful and friendly. Promenade deck was nicely maintained. Nice gym. Read Less

My title has nothing to do with language but more about the massiveness of this ship. 6000+ people is too much. So many personal touches and details are lost. Now, the free generic bottles of water which you would find in your refrigerator is eliminated and replaced with a "beverage package". With the bougoi price of the package you would think you'd get bougoi water. Butter is now is those tiny plastic peel off the top packs, no more pretty little rose pats. I could list more but there are more important topics such as service and cleanliness. Service personnel is worked to the bones effecting their demeanor. I encountered moodiness more than a couple of times. We found someone else's allergy medication in our bathroom on one of the shelves and some not-so-out-of-sight areas super dusty. The cloth seats in the dining room appear filthy -riddled with stains, grease and dirt. It ruins the elegance instantly and even after I brought it to their attention, the same exact seats were found the next night. Last, but not least, the ship's itinerary was changed-twice. Once due to a medi-vac so we didn't go to Labadee, and the next due to a hurricane so we didn't go to Cozumel. We were diverted back to Labadee because there was no other port available due to the size of our ship. While no monetary compensation was offered, free internet would've been nice...or something...no? Read Less

Smoothest part of my trip on the Oasis of the Seas was the embarkation and disembarkation. Everything in between that was underwhelming. One doesn't really expect to say that about The oasis of the Seas, one of the biggest ships with not one but 2 flowriders, 20-something pools and Jacuzzis several clubs ad a full length, Broadway style show - Cats (skip it if you do sail on this ship. It was long and boring) I can fill several pages with what I didn't like about Oasis of the Seas so instead I will say this: if you do happen to sail on Oasis of the Seas: be prepared to wait on lines for everything. Sign up in advance for the free shows (that will save you some time) and book your dinner reservations early. Be prepared for the crowds everywhere (just like NYC!) The Central Park (8th floor- forward) is a great place to hang out and get away. Read Less

We chose this because of the location of the port as well as the time of year. We booked it in May for a July sailing. We also wanted to go out of a port close to home, which is Port Canaveral about half an hour from my house. I've only sailed on short sailings with Royal Caribbean, and I have never been on a mega ship such as this one. Overall the experience was pleasant, and enjoyable. Although they were almost 6500 people on board, It did not feel crowded. Even at the pool deck it is not crowded and we were able to find chairs if you wanted. The solarium is great for adults only. The biggest crowd was when we were getting on the ship. Although the dinners on the ship we're good to excellent, breakfast was left much to be desired. Unlike many other boats that I have been on, they did not have anyone making fresh omelettes, pancakes, or anything else it was all coming from the galley premade. We had a large interior state room on deck six by the spa, it was very comfortable and quiet. It was however on the opposite side of the ship from the main dining room. The size of the room was adequate, however the regular interior rooms are much smaller by about 35 feet, and I feel that would be very small. The shower stalls are very very small, i usually showered with the doors open. They do not provide more than a bar soap, and generic shampoo conditioner. I would recommend bringing your own shampoo and conditioners The ship has interior balcony rooms overlooking various sections such as Central Park, and the boardwalk. A couple of people I spoke with who had those rooms said it was a waste of money. You felt like you were on display if you were on your balcony, and you had to make sure your blinds were shut tight if not others were able to look in the room. We did the first night done right, and we're at the park grill, which was wonderful. We had attempted to purchase a an additional three night dinner package but were unable to get reservations at the places we wanted other than 5 PM or 9:30 PM. So we canceled the package. We did eat two nights at the solarium bistro which I highly do recommend. The shows were OK, couple of them were just not my cup of tea, such as the ice-skating and water show. Cats was beautiful, but we have had a hard time getting into the storyline so we did leave early. If you do book on the cruise, make sure you do your reservations, there were many people who were unable to get into various shows or restaurants because they did not make prior reservations. Service was very good, but meal choices are not as good as in the past and food quality has gone down quite a bit since the last time I cruised RCI. The room was quite clean and the entertainment was very good. The ship is going on 10 years old now and might could benefit for some updating. The staff in each area seemed to be well-trained and genuinely concerned to make sure that the customers were happy and comfortable. I would recommend this ship and this cruise for families as there seemed to be a great deal of activities for families with small children. One item I meant to mention earlier is that I booked 6 months prior to departure. When I checked in, I noticed that even though I had signed up for early seating in the assigned time, there was no table number on my or my wife's card. I found some staff that seemed to be working with other customers with the same issue. This was the one time that I had a poor experience with staff. The one person assigning tables to the large crowd was less than empathetic to those who did not get their wishes. There should have been others assisting with this process to avoid that one fellow from being so frustrated with the mistakes. Read Less

The ship was massive and the ride was great. The overall "on boat" experience was great. The service provided in the state rooms and the dining rooms was excellent. The ship was clean and well kept. The state rooms were large and nice with balconies. The water pressure in the showers was great. The only issue (minor) was it was relatively quiet on the pool decks. I have previously cruised on Carnival and it seemed more festive. This was more reserved, but a little more professional. I was happy overall until the excursion to San Juan. The excursion was limited to about 3 hours on site. Took more time getting off the boat, to the beach, then back than was worth. Also, two drinks at the bar cost $32 (couldn't use the $400 drink package already purchased). The excursion to Labadee (their private island) was great right up until you went into the water. The beaches and ocean floor were covered with jagged rocks making it almost impossible to walk. there has to be a better answer. Read Less

This was our anniversary cruise. Very disappointed in the Windjammer. We have done many cruises on Royal and it appears that you have the same food in the Windjammer cruise after cruise on the Oasis. Since food in the Windjammer was bad, we elected to eat at the specialty restaurants. Atet at 150 Park twice and food and service was excellent. Also ate at Chops Grille and Giovani's and had a wonderful experience. Service at both were execllent. Ate breakfast at Johnny Rockets and had a good meal. Had a Balcony over Boardwalk and the bed and pillows were horrible but our cabin attendant was fantastic and always had a clean room. Getting on the ship and exiting the ship went smoothly. Thought the promenade was dark and could have been lighter. Aqua theater shows were really good. Going to go back on Royal in October 2017 and trying the Allure of the Seas. Read Less

I would like the entertainment both day and night to cater to the adults too. I would also ask that the staff inforce the rules of +16 in restricted areas. I would have like to see the pool for the audlt to stay open later on cruising days. That way friends can visit in the water and it was quiet. The ship really doesn't provide a place for adult to enjoy a drink where there is some mood music and quiet for friend to talk. I'm not sure if Royle has a ship the is for adults only or maybe a cruise that is for audlts only. If there is this kind of cruise, we would love to know more about it. Read Less

Overcrowded. Up-charges ridiculous. No room for popular shows as they sell out prior to cruising. Limits freedom to do things on your own time. Feeling like you are on a schedule limits relaxation. The Thermal suite in the spa is a crowded noisy joke. Wine tasting was boring and formal. Several activities were like that in spa as well, being scolded for talking like you are a child. Not fun. Oasis is a beautiful ship with very well-though out areas to relax. The trouble is when at capacity it is over-crowded everywhere. We typically pay extra for a pass to thermal suite for a quiet place to relax but even that was overcrowded! Shows were crowded. Employees were obviously over-worked and disgruntled. Many were rude or had the attitude that we were troubling them with special requests for gluten free items or other needs. There is no info regarding dining room menus or formal nights so we ended up getting it wrong, or when we were dressed appropriately others were in shorts and flip-flops. The up-charges for specialty dining is outrageous. One noght we went to Chops and paid an extra $100 including wine and lobster only to find out there was Lobster and Prime Rib offered in the dining room that night. There's limited info online regarding these details so it is impossible to know what to expect. Read Less

Had never been on RC and Oasis of Seas was very appealing. Ship was everything I heard it to be. Amazing ship. However, the food and activities---NOT SO! The dinning room food 5-7 on scale of 10. Food selection on the menu was limited. If you wanted a nice steak, you had to pay extra or go to a high-priced specialty restaurant. Recreation activities such as Flow-rider, zip-lines, etc---get you wallet because---you guessed it---not included. If you want late-night snacks---they are not available after 9; some not even open after 3 in the afternoon; of course if you want to pay extra at the "not included in the price" for even simple food like hamburgers and ice cream. We will not go on RC again because of the mediocre food, paying extra for promotional activities and being nickled & dined all day and night. This cruise ship is overpriced for the value received. Beautiful; but not worth the disappointing food and high-priced activities. Read Less

There are many cruise lines. We have cruised, NCL and Disney, but always wanted to see the Oasis of the Seas. OK..we've seen it. Although the ship has some pretty cool things, Central Park, a carousel at The Boardwalk and a good Promenade, I have never seen a ship that went so far out of its way to pretend it WASN'T at sea. The ship lacked areas at which guests could participate in...whatever... and enjoy the sea as well. (The exception was the pool deck.) There was a good variety of restaurants, but as far as quality, only Park 150 and Vintages stood out, although Izumi was very good. The talent for the evening shows was, by far, the best we have ever experienced on a cruise, although Cats, was only performed the first night due to illness, so we cannot comment on that. The last day/night, a show was put together and performed by four Cats' cast members and it was amazing, leaving us saddened that we were not able to see the musical. Daytime activities were few and disappointing, an observation with which a couple who were Pinnacle Members, concurred. Quite a few crew members seemed unhappy and unenthusiastic to be there. The ship needs to work on this. Another thing on which Royal Caribbean should ponder, the ship is in need of an overhaul...it's time for a bit of shipyard time to paint, remove rust and lubricate balcony sliders whose opening/closing sound could wake the dead. When this overhaul takes place I would suggest changing the tile in the areas that open to the open spaces of Centra Park and The Boardwalk, tiles were incredibly slippery due to humidity and the industrial fans that were placed to reduce this issue gave a less than elegant perception of the areas. The dust that had gathered on the silk greenery that could be seen through windows while drinking/dining at Central Park, had a thick fuzzy look to them...hard areas to reach, but again, lessening the feel of something being taken care of. Oasis of the Seas was nice...but we will not return, preferring the quality, service and enthusiasm on Norwegian. Read Less

This was our 7th RCCL cruise and did not live up to the expectations of the previous ones. Although dinner was fantastic every night breakfast and lunch in the dining room and Windjammer were awful, from mediocre service to cold, tasteless food. We were treated very rudely by the staff that seats you for My Time dining. Once we told them we would prefer not to sit with young children our request to be seated at a large table was denied and we were seated at a table for 2 for the entire cruise. We were shocked to find most services that had previously been included now required a surcharge, such as delivery charge to bring hot breakfast for room service ($7.95), etc. A $25.00 charge if you lose your towel, etc. You cannot not even get a glass of ice tea anymore once the main dining areas close unless you purchase the soft drink package. If you are a couple looking for a getaway be prepared because this is more a family ship, a great deal of kids on board and up until all hours. Our cruise had some heavy duty smokers as well and even on the top deck the smell of smoke hits you when the doors open. Another disappointment came as Emerald Class Crown and Anchor members, very few and far between benefits (some buy one, get one and delivery of (4) cookies one night and strawberries another. No captains parties at all.) We had previously been on Labadee and it had been a charming laid back beach experience. They have now built it up to more of a water park. Beware; several cruisers complained they did the zip line excursion over the water, charged $100.00 for the excursion, and it lasted less then 10 minutes. Also, make sure you reserve all your shows well in advance because it is very difficult to get a reservation once you are on board. It is a beautiful ship, very large and you will find plenty to do. We also enjoyed, St. Maarten, Puerto Rico and Labadee (you do have to walk a distance to get to a beach that you have not paid for). I will choose a different ship next time........ Read Less

The entertainment staff and the cruise director were good. He was funny and entertaining. We liked the water show the best. The port in San Juan was not that great. The staff, entertainment, our cabin and food were really great. I liked the different neighbor hoods I have always went with RCI because of the adult only swim area, An area you could go and just relax, sit in the shade and read a book, take a nap, sit in whirl pool, take a dip in the nice size pool or lay in the sun to get a tan. On the Oasis the Adult area is all in the sun no shade at at, except in some chairs you couldn't loung in. All the so called swimming pool is not really a swimming pool at all just a place to stand up in and get wet. The so called swimming pool was so small, you would have thought with so many people on the ship like 6200 guest on our cruise, that the pool would be bigger not smaller. As you can tell this area is the most important to me. When it came to eating breakfast or lunch all areas we ate at was more like a mob seen, so crowded people everywhere bumping into one another meal time wassn't a pleasant encounter at all. I most likely won't be cruising on the Oasis class ship again I will have to travel to another port much farther away from our home in order to cruise Freedom, Voyager, Radiance or maybe even Vision Class Ships but Oasis not for me. This ship is awesome and everyone should experience it at lease once in a lifetime but.....be prepared. This ship will cost you! Not only for your cruise but almost everything you do on it! 1. I did not like having to make reservations for show's. It would be so much better if you could just go to the show when you feel like it. When you are making the reservations, you have no way of knowing how your day is going to go and then your committed to a show that night and can't make it up another night. That's a real bummer. 2. I did not like having an 8:00 dinner when all the drawings and things were done at that time. It really was not fair to those diners. Come-on RC..... I know you can do better! 3. $$$ and more $$$ everything is going to cost you more money! Almost nothing is free on this trip. We spent as much on our sail pass as the tickets. Shame on you RC! 4. Drinks..... really.... I almost became dehydrated because of the small cups and watered down tea - crappy lemon aide, Water and coffee that would put hair on the chest of an infant. There really was nothing unless you wanted to pay out the wazzzooo. At least let us bring something on board that we can drink out of. 5. Games??? What are those?? Things that people play when on board. The Bingo was overpriced. Trivia was lame. What happened to all the fun games that you normally enjoy on cruises. 6. Don't let them know if you have any allergies to foods. I told them about mine and found out that they have the assistant chef's make the food in the morning then it sits all day waiting for your dinner. No wonder mine was cold EVERY night! 7. It was not all bad. We made great friends onboard and had a great time in spite of RC. Read Less

This was our first time on one of the Mega ships and although it was breathtaking I think we prefer the smaller, more intimate ships. Long lines getting on and off the ship. We felt like the Oasis (and RCCL) was competing with the Disney line for family business - of the 6,500 passengers on board, 2,000+ were children. Comparing this cruise to other RCCL cruises we found the food to be average and long lines at the Windjammer. Many of the buffet items were lukewarm or cold. We had late dining which interfered with many of the evening shows and on two separate occasions we had to send back our meals and make alternate meal selections because our original choice we unsatisfactory. Breakfast and lunch in the dining rooms were very good! As a beer lover I would like to see RCCL work to offer more craft beer selections and to also expand their liquor offerings to Crown and Anchor members. Also the diamond passenger lounge was dismal and uninviting. Pretty much the same menu daily at windjammer. Much of the food prepared too early in bulk so things that should be hot were not and much was dreiod out- yecch. Dinner however were excellent in dining room first class food and service. In st. Convenience: Port Canaveral within easy 1/2 day drive from home. We have usually cruised with Princess before, though we have tried others. This was first, and probably last, on Royal Caribbean. Customer service was poor; website very hard to navigate; info about tours very scanty and hard to come by. But mainly we felt the entire cruise was an effort by Ship's Company to gouge very nickel out of every pocket. Most on-board activities had to do with selling; prices for drinks were WAY higher than others; costs for specialty restaurants were double others; and above all that the sense was that all they wanted to do was SELL, SELL, SELL and rake in the money. Captain Rob had a smooth sounding voice; but for the rest, it was too over-the-top. The enforced "cheerleading" at every occasion after 7 days got to turn our stomachs. In all, we probably will avoid Royal Caribbean again; but esp. the over-sized Oasis class ships, where the size seems to have outstripped the ability to attend to individuals. Read Less

This was my first cruise, and I chose this one because of the ship. It's huge and offers a lot of activities. The ship is beautiful - I recommend taking the all-access pass behind-the-scenes tour to learn about how the ship works, from dining services to the bridge. It's worth the $119. The crew works very hard, but they seemed to be under staffed. Buffet dining experiences were chaotic - I recommend doing the dining rooms for breakfast and lunch. In Nassau, I recommend scheduling an excursion, even if you don't like scheduled excursions. The shopping experience in town, which is within walking distance of the ship, is disappointing -- lots of dirty shops filled with tourist junk sold by aggressive sales people. In St. Thomas I recommend taking a taxi and skipping the ship's excursions! Explore on your own, but DO NOT get into a "gypsy cab." We discovered Secret Harbor, a resort on the east end of the island. It's about a 45-minute cab ride, and it's quiet, beautiful, and the staff is amazing. A lot of locals hang out there, which tells you something! Prices for drinks and food are reasonable. In St. Maarten, take a cab to Orient Beach. Not as friendly as St. Thomas, but every bit as beautiful. It is overrun with tourists, but the beach is so big that you will be comfortable. Read Less

We enjoyed the food in the specialty dining rooms, not only for the food options, but the service of the staff is far superior, and attentive to detail, to that of the dining room or buffet. The ship is beautiful with many varied activities, but making reservations before you board is confusing, especially, when you don't know what other activities will be available to you when you are actually on board and how to co-ordinate them so they don't overlap. There were shows that we wanted to see, but they were only available during our dining times or some shows were cancelled, due to technical difficulties or weather conditions. There should be rules of conduct for families and children and ship staff to support the rules. There is no reason children should be throwing things from balconies, running and playing football in the halls, throwing golf balls at each other or hitting each other with golf clubs. Dress codes should be enforced in dining rooms for dinner. Poorly behaved children should find suitable dining options as to not disturb the rest of the dining room patrons. Parents and staff should be aware that others would like a pleasant dining experience. Read Less

Our cabin was a boardwalk balcony and it was far, far away from an elevator or even usable steps so we had to go forward just to go backwards. Ridiculous. Our shower was moldy and stunk and the couch was so dirty we had to cover it with a sheet. Our cabin steward was just OK which is not the usual RC experience. There werre plumbing problems onboard and I washed my hands in nasty black water at one point - unexpected, who knows what it was. My cousins room leaked over their bed in the middle of the night, who knows what that was. It was their 50th wedding anniversary - NOT GOOD! The cigarette smoke from the casino permeates the waiting area for main dining on Deck 3 so you experience that nastiness while waiting to eat twice a day. My Aunt was totally misdiagnosed and mistreated by the ship physician which led to serious problems after she got off the ship. If you are planning to bring someone who needs a wheelchair to embark or disembark - Don't do it....this process is completely inappropriate and time consuming to the point of harmful to the person needing help. Our dining experience was exceptional. We could not have had a better experience in Main Dining. They went above and beyond to allow our extended family to be able to set together and to accomodate my dietary needs. Along with all that they waited on us like both royalty and their best friends. I cannot say enough about our dining experience. Thank you RC for getting this one right. Read Less

My husband and I are fairly experienced cruisers. We have been on 24 cruises, 15 of them on Royal Caribbean. This was our second cruise on Oasis, and we have been on Allure 4 times, so we know the big ships pretty well. Overall, the cruise was just OK. With the exception of our RCI sponsored excursion in Jamaica, which was horrible. The ship was clean, our room steward fantastic. But, as other cruisers on Oasis have mentioned, the food in the MDR was mediocre, and everything was served at room temperature. Not good when you enjoy soup! Most of the crew we encountered looked stressed, tired, and downright unhappy, including the entertainment staff. I had an encounter with a woman in Guest Services that was particularly hostile when I asked her a simple question on day 3 about the time frame to carry our luggage off the ship when disembarking. She looked annoyed and barked "It will be in the Cruise Compass". What?? When pressed, she finally told me the hours to carry your own luggage were 6:30 AM to 8:00 AM. How hard was that? Bright spots on the cruise were Sabor (the Mexican restaurant-delicious!), the diving show, Vintages for wine and tapas, and the ice show. Embarkation was a breeze, and debarkation was the fastest we have ever experienced. We were second in line for customs - a first for us! We will probably try either Celebrity (I know-RCI owns them) or a smaller RCI ship next time. Read Less

We have cruised with Royal Caribbean 3 other times in the past. Its always been a good experience. But time we were disappointed in our food quality and entertainment experience. As for dinning, we dined once at one of the speciality dinning (150 Central Park), it was good and the service was great. As for the the dinner room experience, the options were limited and meal was far from tasty. On past cruised, I loved all their options and sometimes would order 2-3 appetizers. Also breakfast and lunch were ok, nothing to brag about. As for entertainment, they only had one comedian that performed. He wasn't funny like some of the past comedians we have seen on Royal Caribbean. He didn't have a skit and was doing improv, aka - making fun of the guest. It came off as mean instead of funny, I'm pretty sure most of the guest felt insulted. The impersionist was good, he was funny and did a good job. As for CATs, the musical we didn't see it cause it was 3 hours along and we liked to fill our nights with a variety of activities. From what we heard from other guest on the ship that a lot of people left during the second half. Also, the music on the ship was ok, we always find two bands we liked. There was one band that played pop music in Dazzles. They were great. Also the classical music in centeral park was awesome. Read Less
