My husband and I went on the Oasis of the Seas in 2014 and we loved it. We booked the Oasis again for 2017 but it was postponed due to hurricane Irma. We rescheduled for April 2018. I happened to be 18 weeks pregnant this time around so I knew it wouldn't be quite as fun since I couldn't do any of the fun excursions, but I figured it would be a nice relaxing vacation. The boarding process went smoothly. When we showed up there were tons of people and a long line but it moved quickly and we were on board within an hour. Our rooms were ready so we were able to unpack the carry on bags. Our other bags arrived a few hours later. The first sign of something being different came when we were boarding the ship. There were tons of staff members trying to sell us things- mostly dining packages. It was annoying and weird. I don't want to start my vacation being bombarded by people trying to sell me things. Pretty much the rest of the cruise felt that way...I've been on 5-6 cruises and I have never felt nickled and dimed until this cruise. Popcorn during a movie cost $2.50 plus 18% gratuity. The costs really didn't matter but the popcorn wasn't fresh and did not taste good and that's how things felt the whole cruise- like we were getting charged extra for things and they just weren't that good. The Johnny Rockets cover has doubled or tripled since we last went. It used to be a good deal but at $9.95 (plus the 18% gratuity they add to everything) it's no longer worth the price. We tried tapas in the wine bar on night and they were unevenly heated and had obviously been microwaved. The wine bar costs extra so we had to pay for food that we didn't even eat because it was so bad. I'm definitely no foodie and I'm really not that picky of an eater, but the food on this cruise just wasn't very good. The main dining room food was okay and the buffet food was bad. The dining highlight was sushi. It was good and we would have gone again if we had the time. We wanted to try the hibachi but it costs $46 per person. I would consider paying that if I know the hibachi is good but given our bad experiences with the food we just decided not to risk it. I read a review from a few years ago saying the hibachi was $25 per person. Royal Caribbean has obviously raised their prices quite a bit over the past few years, yet the food and service have gotten worse. So many of the daily activities revolved around getting our money and buying overpriced things. Since I'm pregnant and a bit more tired than usual my husband and I spent a few hours on sea days in our room watching TV. Most of the channels revolved around the ship & company (a port shopping channel, one channel that just plays the safety video over and over again) and there were only about 4 or 5 channels that would have movies and TV shows. Most of the time there really wasn't anything to watch on TV, so I caught up on reading instead. I've never been as disappointed with a cruise (or any vacation) as I was with this one. We loved Oasis so much in 2014 and it's so disappointing to see what it's becoming. Royal Caribbean is all about money now. They'd rather nickle and dime you than try to get repeat customers. The service on the ship was pretty bad. It just seemed like a lot of the staff didn't want to be there or are unhappy with their jobs. The exception would be our main dining room waiter and our stateroom attendant. Both of them were friendly, professional, and great. There are so many other companies out there to try, we definitely won't be wasting our time with Royal Caribbean anymore. Vacation wasn't all bad- it was really great getting to spend so much time with my husband. This is likely the last vacation we will take as a couple and we'll soon have to figure out how to add a baby into our travel plans. I hate complaining so much, I just would really recommend that people look somewhere other than the Oasis for their next trip- it just wasn't a very good experience. It should have been so much better. Read Less

This was my first time on this ship, My brother told me about his wonderful experience on the Oasis of the Seas. Main dining was good, food was good . Our waitress was pleasant . We requested a large table of 10 and we got what we requested, the service overall was very good. Our cabin was on deck 11 over Central Park beautiful view of the park. our state room state service made us feel welcome . He was always very pleasant, kept our room very clean. My next cruise will be on Royal Caribbean. The crew member was great, they made you feel welcome the moment you got on the ship. We visited 3 port Labadee , Jamaica and Cozumel. I had a great time. I would recommend this cruise ship to my other families and friends. I enjoyed visiting the different countries. The Ship was very clean. There was plenty to eat, the food was great, every day there was a lot to see and do. We enjoyed your vacation. Thank you Royal Caribbean. Read Less

A friend recommended it because of what the ship offered. It was very nice. I would like to recommend that you have cell phone service on the ship (operating only within the ship, without huge roaming charges). There were 4 of us (3 adults and one 12 year old). Sometimes we would split up, but always had difficulty finding each other to get back together. If we could have used our cell phones to locate each other after completing an activity separately, it would have enabled us to participate in more activities. Everything else was fine. I cannot think of anything else to comment on. Food was good. Shows were good. I admired how efficiently they got so many people on the ship in such a short time. Port stops were nice. On the way from Cozumel (Mexico) to Port Canaveral, some military planes flew overhead and soon left. Were we off the approved course? Read Less

We are Diamond and stayed in a Grand Suite (9654) the room was disgusting even after bringing to the attention of the room attendant. Discussed the matter with housekeeping manager and nothing changed. There are 7 lights in the bathroom 3 of which were out. Mirrors were all smudged, chips and crumbs in between sofa cyshions. Bathroom fixtures were dull and dirty. The excursion in Falmouth Jamaica was dangerous and should have been cancelled, the wind and swells made it very difficult to board we were ordered off the catamaran at the beach to walk through the swells to Redstripe beach. The beach is filthy, where they take you is near a resort but we were relegated to the ugliest filthiest part. The saving grace was the Coastal kitchen and even there it isn't what it used to be. Oasis of the Seas is too big and impersonal. We will be exploring Norwegian (Haven) which I've heard is service oriented. Read Less

It's a unique cruise experience on this amazing mega mega ship. We have cruised over 80 times and this is our fourth cruise on this class ship. It would be a good cruise to take if you have any concerns about being on the sea because the ship is so large you forget you are no longer on land. The food was the best we have experienced on any cruise. The entertainment excellent with the exception of Broadway show "Cats". Stage too dark. Show was boring. Cast could sing and dance but didn't have cat-like moves like the Broadway show we saw. We were not the only people who left before the half time intermission. However their original show of Hairsprays was excellent as was Chicago on sister ship Allure. What fun to ride a carousel on the boardwalk then go to cenatural park full of live plants and trees followed by a stroll down the promenade for a quick slice of pizza. Something different to do every day and night. Read Less

Loved the ship and staff but the food was less than expected. I sent back a few dinners as I just couldn't eat what was provided. The quality of the food was average at best. We had some allergies with our group, gluten and dairy and they were very attentive to the menu for these persons. We also were overcharged for bar drinks on a couple of occasions. This is extremely disappointing as the drinks are already too expensive. The automatic 18% gratuity added to everything purchased is heavy handed. The cruise automatically charges a gratuity of $13.50 per person per day for what they claim is for the restaurant and cabin persons. We were not made aware of this and when it shows up on your room bill, its quite shocking. As I was traveling with my family of 6, this amounts to ~$700, a little steep don't you think. Read Less

We are loyal to Royal and will soon will be Diamond. Our last two cruises were on the Empress of the Seas and loved every minute so we thought it would be cool to go from the smallest to the largest. We were not disappointed. From the embarkation to the disembarkation all went well. One of the things that my wife and I might not do again is to cruise in January. The weather was not all that good. We had some real high seas so they had to cancel some of the shows. That brings me to the entertainment. We both enjoyed Frozen in Time and Come Fly With Me. The ventriloquist act was great. The comedy show was just OK. The venue was small. We were to go to Cats on Sat afternoon and opted out because of what other people were saying and that we would not be able have dinner with our friends. That brings me to our dinning experience. We have done many cruises and this was the best wait staff, from the head waiter Charito Cruz the waiter Pritesh Halankar asst. waiter Remis Ribeiro all were OUTSTANDING. The food like most of the recent cruises we have been on was ok. I think Royal has cut back on the menu as well as the portion size. My wife and I both thought that the Windjammer was predictable, but good. I wanted to try Johnny Rockets and was disappointed but the hot dogs on the boardwalk were outstanding. After a day or two we found the Oasis easy to navigate. We especially liked Central Park. We were both happy with the casino and having a no smoking side. We would like to see no smoking throughout the casino. The only time we felt that there were lots of people was the last day getting off. We both loved the Oasis and will cruise her again. Read Less

Main Room attendant treated us more like we were on his personal slave ship than a high end cruise ship. He busted in our room consistently throughout our stay trying to catch someone smoking. When that didn't work he went ahead and charged 250 dollars to our account cause he claimed he found ashes on our balcony. Good luck keeping your privacy and your money. Nice ship though. The food is good, the excursions are decent but you can get off the sip and find your own excursions just as easy. Little rocky on the way down but its to be expected during this season , once we were in the caribean the cruise was smooth and the weather was great. The casino and entertainment is good The ship is huge so theres plently of places to explore, overall a nice cruise aside from the task master. Royal Carribean is a nice cruise line. Read Less

We've been on about 8 times and always good although Royal has cut back on C&A benefits. We remember having lunch in the Diamond Concierge lounge with a glass of wine-no more. Royal started adding fresh cookies on Day 1 in stateroom, we preferred the prepackaged and healthier almonds and shortbread cookies. Our Diamond Concierge hostess Beatrice was excellent as were our Cabin steward Dimitri and main dining room deck 5 wait staff Kevron and Natalia. Wish Johnny Rockets allowed carry out for breakfast and Broadway show only ran for a year and then offer a new show. We found getting on and off ship excellent and entertainment was outstanding. We like the rapid self departure. The Cruise Critic event was nice but scarcely attended. We continue to see limited shipboard tv news and wish Fox News could be offered to offset the liberally biased CNN and HLN channels. This was our 1st RC cruise. We traveled with our two teenage children for our wedding our anniversary. We had a Ocean balcony cabin and our children had boardwalk balcony room. The cabins were small and the bathrooms were really small. The shower is hard to move around in.. My husband is 6'2" and that was really hard for him. I got a cabin for my kids that had a great view of the aqua theater and the back of the ship. There were no shows in the aqua theater because of rough seas. Our cabins were only 2 back from the aqua suite. The cabins were ok for two however so many squeezed 4 into our size cabin.. Our cabin attendant Kechia was the best. Our cabin was always clean and She was very very nice. Dining: The food in the main dining was bland and not at all what we expected. The service was good and the staff was friendly. I would not suggest "anytime dining" We had reservations at 5;30 and walked right in and were seated while the "anytime dining folks" waited until seats were available. I changed this option late into our booking so I could not get a later time. I did it on the advise of another cruise critic reviewer. We preferred the specialty dining options which cost a few dollars more but were 100 times better. The food at Chops Grill was wonderful. We did not take our kids to specialty dining because they prefer Johnny Rockets, The Dog House or room service. Entertainment: So many of the shows were cancelled due to rough seas- surprised us. we did attend CATS. You will need to make a reservation for all shows or go on a list and wait. CATS was long and boring. Performers where talented and great just not a great show all together. Hard to follow. My husband got a nice nap in, Would have preferred Grease or Hairspray. Not available on this ship. Activities: Could not get my husband off the flow rider. Go early in the am so you do not have to wait in long lines. My husband booked two private lessons and said it was worth every penny. We are not pool sitting folks because we live in Florida with a pool however the pool areas seemed packed so we opted to do other things. My husband and I really enjoyed the adults only solarium area in the evening. It is very quiet and hardly anyone is there. Children are allowed during the day. We sat in the large hot tub a few times. Spa & Salon: On the day of the formal evening I took my daughter up to get her hair done. Ryan did a great job and made her feel like a princess. We wanted to take him home with us. Excursions: In Labadee Haite my family did the zip line and we all did the dragon coaster. If you are afraid of heights, which I am, don't do these. My husband and children loved both the views of the island where wonderful. I would have liked a private cabanna on the beach. We got there early and they were sold out the day before so we sat under a palm tree which was nice for about 1/2 hour then got very crowded. I suggest the beach facing the boat. It looked so much nicer than the one we were at. The only reason I selected this area was to watch my family on the zip line. That takes about an hour and fifteen. In the Bahamas we shopped on our own. Guest Services: I felt like when we approached guest services they wanted to get us out of their hair as quickly as possible. I watched every Utube video I could to help us get around the ship and one suggested that when we get on the ship we go to guest services and tell them that we wanted to be put on the VIP list. I did just that and explained to them that I write a lot of reviews for Trip Advisor and Cruise Critic. They basically blew me off. Said they would call us and we never got a call. My husband wanted to be put on the list to tour the bridge but that was full. They called an apologized and offered us a specialty dining at N/C only to call us back the next day and tell us that they had made a mistake and could no longer offer that to us. We had already made our reservations and went anyway- paid for it. There was definitely a communication issue throughout the cruise with this department. Booking our Cruise: I booked this cruise 10 months in advance through RCI on the phone and watched the rate go up and down. 90 days before the cruise there was a huge sale and because I had paid our final payment they would not honor it. They offered us a bottle of wine in our room. We do not drink wine. We did not book our next cruise on the ship. We will book next time with a travel agent. Overall we had a great time. We will go on RCI again. Read Less

Love the ship! The performance of the cast of Cats were great, however, I just can't get into that show. Windjammer food was better than Liberty and Freedom of the seas. The service was great. We didn't have much trouble finding a table. Chops - We had one meal there. The steak was great, the rest just okay. Service was weak. Johnny Rockets - We had one meal there. The food was good, the service sucked. All of the water shows were great! Our balcony room was very nice. We got the internet package because we had kids at home. The internet package is a little too expensive for what you get. The internet speed is usually too slow. I also had connectivity issues. The ship is never really crowded, except for when they have "sales". The adult area is the best out of all of the 4 "classes" of ships we've been on. Unlike the Freedom and Liberty, this ship usually had two working ice cream machines! Freestyle coke machines are great, however, they were often out of ice. The machine's pop tastes much better than what you get from the bars. Trivia - Not near as good as Carnival Breeze or Carnival Magic. However, this ship has a lot more other types of entertainment. The food was mostly cheap and banquet style. The steaks were thin and tough and the fish was freezer burned. If you were ok with pizza and burgers every day you would be fine, but the other dinner fair was a disappointment. Of the three shows we wanted to see 2 of them cancelled. We were really looking forward to seeing Cats but one of the actors was injured. We also went on an excursion and the ferry taking us to the beach where we were going snorkeling was 1.5 hrs late. When we got to the beach the instructor said we had only 30-45 minutes to snorkel and we had to get back on the ferry. There was 8 or us so the excursion was about $700, thus a big disappointment. Also the rooms were stuffy and half of us got sick. We had issues with airflow the whole trip. Our neighbors had the same problem. Overall there were just too many people on the ship to get good personal service. Most of the time I felt like I was being herded like cattle. I will not be back. Read Less

Food was cold, Dining room waiter was grossly sweating and dripping off his forehead, dropping things on a guest at our table, was not a happy person. The Matrade wasn't even friendly! The bartenders were not in a hurry to wait on you at all. The food in the Windjammer was always cold, hardly any fruit selection. Actually the food in the main dining room wasn't all that hot either. I was surprised to find out that they do not have a drink of the day anymore. There are no Ice or Fruit carvings anymore. No more midnight buffets. The elegance was also missing. Smaller ships are more elegant than this one! I feel as though we paid a lot of money to be greatly disappointed! Too big of a ship, not personable. We will be traveling on the Jewel of the Seas in April 2017, I sure hope things are better on that ship or we will be finished cruising with Royal Caribbean. Read Less

The embarkation and disembarkation of the ship went very smoothly and easily. The room was obviously smaller than any of the rooms of other ships we have been on and after a few days the room was feeling very crammed. The two main issues that caused the negative experience on this cruise were the kids' clubs and the entertainment. On previous cruises (Carnival and Disney), our 10 year old and 13 year old have greatly enjoyed the kids' clubs and were eagerly looking forward to the kids' club on Oasis. They both visited their respective kids' clubs on Oasis the first day for ~30 minutes and never went back. The both said the kids' club was boring and there was nothing to do. My wife and I love spending time with our kids, but we also want to spend time together, especially in the evenings going out to the comedy club, bars, shows, etc. Obviously, when the kids don't go to the kids' club, there isn't much adult time. Big bummer! Second, the shows were not of the quality we have seen on previous cruises, including Royal Caribbean. The CATS show was long and hard to follow. The show at the Aqua Theatre was average. Given that the Aqua Theatre takes up SO much space, we really thought the show would be far better than it was. Also, these shows all require reservations ahead of time. We have never had to make show reservation on prior cruises. The problem is that the ship had 6,400+ passengers on board and the entertainment venue simply can't accommodate the number of passenger that want to see a show. For example, the comedy club seats only 100 people! On every other cruise we have been on, we have attended and enjoyed multiple comedy shows. However, on Oasis, we were never able to attend a comedy show because there just aren't enough seats. This seems like a horrible design flaw of the ship, or, more likely, terrible entertainment management. Vishal's dinner service was excellent and Ricardo did a great job with our room. The food was not as good as any other cruise we have been on, but was acceptable. We had planned to cruise again on Oasis this summer with extended family (19 people total) to celebrate retirements. However, after this cruise, we will definitely not be on Oasis this summer. We are aggressively looking at other cruise lines and ships. Read Less

We have cruised with Royal Caribbean 3 other times in the past. Its always been a good experience. But time we were disappointed in our food quality and entertainment experience. As for dinning, we dined once at one of the speciality dinning (150 Central Park), it was good and the service was great. As for the the dinner room experience, the options were limited and meal was far from tasty. On past cruised, I loved all their options and sometimes would order 2-3 appetizers. Also breakfast and lunch were ok, nothing to brag about. As for entertainment, they only had one comedian that performed. He wasn't funny like some of the past comedians we have seen on Royal Caribbean. He didn't have a skit and was doing improv, aka - making fun of the guest. It came off as mean instead of funny, I'm pretty sure most of the guest felt insulted. The impersionist was good, he was funny and did a good job. As for CATs, the musical we didn't see it cause it was 3 hours along and we liked to fill our nights with a variety of activities. From what we heard from other guest on the ship that a lot of people left during the second half. Also, the music on the ship was ok, we always find two bands we liked. There was one band that played pop music in Dazzles. They were great. Also the classical music in centeral park was awesome. Read Less

This was my 7th cruise and my 2nd with Royal Caribbean. The Oasis was unbelievable. I had been on one of the Carnival ships a few years ago and we were docked next to it in Cozumel. Since we are big gamblers I was able to get the casino rate and was able to book a balcony room overlooking Central Park. I had seen a lot of complaints about how big the ship was that all you did was wait in lines. First of all I do not wait in lines, so I don't put myself in a position to wait in lines. For breakfast everyday filled out the room service menu every night before going to bed and had it delivered to our room at a set time. We enjoyed our breakfast line free on our balcony. As far as getting off the ship we never waited in line, we enjoyed our morning coffee walking around the ship and then got off after the rush. FOOD: Room Service - awesome Samba - Interesting menu but really good food and not bad for $6 a person, we ate there 3 times Johnny Rockets - good burgers, we went there on the first day before our rooms were ready because the windjammer was crazy busy, and we hate lines. DogHouse - I have to say we tried this place because a friend of mine said it was great, this was the worst meal we had on board all week. Park Place café - best roast beef sandwiches, and their breakfast option were great too. Sorrentino's - Pizza was good, I think we had lunch there a couple times. Starbucks - I expected long lines but to my surprise there wasn't. Chops - I book reservations for the last night on the cruise and it was fantastic. Windjammer - we only ate in there a couple of times and had salads and burgers. Main dining room - We only ate in the main dining room twice on both formal nights. The service was excellent, and the prime rib and lobster were cooked to perfection. Bar/lounge: We had great service at any bar we went to. We bought the drink package so we could order whatever we wanted. The bartenders always remembered what we order so our drinks were always served up fast. The bartenders in the casino were the best. Casino: This casino was a lot bigger than on other ships I have been on, we enjoyed meeting and talking with people every night in the casino lounge. Stateroom: It was in a great location with a Central Park balcony, our stateroom steward was great, no complaints. We had so much fun on this cruise, so I booked another cruise for November 2017 and this time with an ocean view balcony. Read Less
