NCL Star Alaska Cruise 9/17/-9/24
We had a wonderful time on our first Alaska cruise despite the rainy weather. This was our 29th cruise (5th on NCL) but our first one to Alaska. It was just my spouse and I - both 47 years old. We flew from Atlanta to Seattle the night before the cruise and stayed at the Marriott Seattle Riverfront right across from the port. We had dinner at Elliott's ...
Last minute, budget, cruise to Alaska. First time on Norwegian. We were warned both online and off not to expect the service or experience we had with Princess or RCI or even Carnival. So, we came with low expectations.
I thought I would post a few thoughts for others who are undecided if Norwegian is worth trying.
It was as good as any other cruise in most ways, better than some in others. ...
* Background Information - first Alaska cruise, and I've heard so many rave reviews that I was expecting to be really wowed, but wasn't.
* Hotel Info - Best Western Pioneer Square in Seattle was a pleasant surprise. While warned about homeless and less desirable location, we were very happy with the neighborhood. Included breakfast was terrific. 1 block from ferry, 1 mile from pier 66, 3 ...
Cruised NCL on 8/6/11. The ship was very good. Shore excursions were overpriced. Took the local bus to Mendenhall glacier and saved $43 for 2. It was $8 both ways. Mile walk to glacier and the lake in front kept us from getting close enough to touch. We went cheap and did not visit any of the pay extra restaurants. I heard great things about all of them from fellow cruisers. Regular dining was ...
Just got back from Alaska cruise on Norwegian. We took our granddaughter on her first cruise, and did not have particularly high expectations, having read some unflattering reviews from other cruisers. We were pleasantly surprised. We normally take Regent cruises and were uneasy about everybody on Norwegian hustling us to spend money, and the possibility of overcrowding and bad food, bad service. ...
Getting there
We started our trip with the airline losing half our luggage so my travel partner ended up having no clothes for the cruise. Once found the airline was unwilling to send the bag to Juneau for the ship to bring on board for us. I can also say the staff at the airport was not as helpful as the staff at the 888 number when calling the airline. The staff at the airport said sorry but ...
This was our 13th cruise but our 3rd on NCL. My husband and I were the only ones on this cruise. We are both 54, we live and Arizona, and have been married 33 years. Because Alaska is more "pricey" than most cruises, we opted for an inside cabin (for the first time I might add). We figured that since it was Alaska, it would probably be too cold for a balcony. We flew to Seattle the day before on ...
This was our first cruise so I don't have another to compare to. The cruise staff was very nice and attentive but some were hard to understand because they are all from other countries. I didn't like the pushing to sell jewelry all the time. They had a presentation for shopping in ports by the shopping consultant but most of it was about jewelry. I thought it would be about where to go for ...
Just got home from our trip to Seattle and Alaska. There were 7 of us that were on this trip. My parents (in their 60's), my husband and our three sons (10, 8.5, and 5). We had two cabins between us. We chose the penthouse with balcony on deck 12 (#12010) and my parents had one of the owner's suites (#12002) just a few steps away. The VIP treatment that we received going thru security and ...
Norwegian Star, 9/18/10 Stateroom 5628
For eight months after we booked this cruise we wondered how much fun we would have. The answer is we couldn't of had a better time and we were not disappointed.
We arrived in Seattle the day before the cruise and bought a pre-cruise package through NCL which turned out to be a good decision because not only was our room ready at noon, but we found out ...
