This cabin is at the very front of the ship. You are right below the bridge. Great view, large balcony, but, not very private, but we had great neighbors. It was great at night to watch the stars and perfect for going through the canal. There is no sliding door, but a steel door that you open like a hatch and a regular door. There is a large window. If the seas are rough you will hear some wind noise and can hear the waves hitting the front of the ship. If you get seasick, this is probably not the spot for you. The cabin is very spacious and updated. Lots of storage space. The bathroom was large, one sink and separate toilet area. The tub is very small and hard to get out of and it tended to be very slick. All in all I would choose this cabin again. Read Less

The Aft cabins on Deck 8 are right above the Spinnaker Lounge. Loud music until midnight - and sometimes later could be heard every night. We got a good priced upgrade, and now I know why. If we had paid full price, I would be very upset. Fortunately we do not get to bed until late, so not too bad a problem - but best to avoid aft on Deck 8 of the Star. Otherwise, cabin was good sized, medium sized balcony. Great coffee machine. But being at the rear, a bit of a hike to much of the ship and the elevators. If not for the noise, I would give the cabin 3 1/2 stars. Read Less

Forward penthouse with large balcony. Has a "sea door" as well as interior cabin door. While the ship is sailing into the wind, you will experience rather "stiff" breeze. You will need to keep the sea door closed when at sea because of the wind. Even with the hall door closed, the ceiling tiles start to lift and bang around. If on the Baltic capitals cruise, make sure to set your alarm early as you enter the Stockholm Archipelago. This part of the trip into and out of Stockholm takes about 4 hours, but the views are amazing. We could only find one 110v plug. All others in the cabin were 220v. Luckily we had a voltage converter. Read Less

Stateroom: We like the design of these suites and the large (forward facing) balcony. The suites are laid out to our liking, providing a roomy living and bed area. The bathroom is small with a single sink and a tub/shower combination. Strangely, the design does not include useable electrical outlets except at the make-up/dressing table outside the bathroom. There we found three outlets: one US standard; one UK standard and one to the French/European standard. I had adapters so all were used to charge batteries of various devices. The dining table was used for every breakfast and for one evening meal. We like the design of the cabin but found numerous nicks, scratches and well-worn areas. The couch looked as if it had been rejected by Goodwill or Salvation Army. Neither the exterior storm door nor the interior door were airtight, and admitted a draft of warm and humid air as we sailed into a head wind! Fortunately, the air conditioning system worked well. The bed was very comfortable. Read Less
