My BF and I were short on time but desperate to get away so the 5-day Western Caribbean itinerary to Belize and Mexico was perfect for us. We booked just prior to Christmas and got a great price. Food: We generally ate in the buffet in the morning because we wanted to control our portions and wanted lots of choice. The aft outdoor location (Great Outdoors) was perfect and since we were up and at it early, it generally wasn't busy. This opened at 7:30 but sometimes we would grab specific items on the inside location and just take our plates outside. Overall the food would get a 3.5 - 4 out of five. We are super fussy, however I always found something to enjoy and generally was very pleased. My only complaint is watching people feel the need to carry two stacked plates at a time. We ate in Le Bistro at additional charge and it was well worth it. It ran about $100 CDN for two, gratuities included for three good courses. Cagney's was fully booked so we didn't get a chance to experience it. Indigo was very good and the atmosphere was much nicer for us than the main dining room (Summer Palace). If you do the buffet for lunch, don't miss the Indian/Indonesian food station. Some of the better butter chicken I've had, made very well and super fresh. Entertainment: For me, I would give the entertainment 5/5. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the performers and shows. Big kudos to Orly Penate and Alex Ortiz as well as the NCL person responsible for booking them. Absolutely fabulous! The final evening we took in the Legends in Concert show in the Stardust Theater. Great acoustics and lovely set up, comfortable seats. This show also wowed me in the quality. Don't miss it! Staff: Overall, the staff was very good. I think when some people think they are poor quality, they don't understand that for some, there is a bit of a language barrier and their job is incredibly hard. Eight months on, two months off is a tough gig. I wonder if NCL should consider different options or opportunities if they can find a cost-effective way to manage. Activities: If you can't find something to do that interests you on this ship... it's you, not them. I was disappointed in some of the guests and their need to do nothing but sloth by the pool, drinking too much. However, we found a great location every day and very much enjoyed the sun. We also signed up (at extra cost) to have full access to all of the classes at the fitness centre. Big shout out to Jared and Suynesh (sp?) for their attention, professionalism and knowledge. We very much enjoyed our interactions with both and it was worth the extra cost. Shore Excursions: For me, this is the chink in the armor on this trip. I found both ports to be pretty much a waste of time because I like to experience the authentic side of a country. They are overly commercial and a bit of a money grab. We did enjoy both beaches however and in Costa Maya we took a taxi to Mahahual where we found a great stand for empanadas and sopas. We ended up going back to the ship early and very much enjoyed how quiet it was on board lol. Overall a very nice experience with great people. Read Less

This cruise was a birthday gift from my daughters. This was the first cruise my husband and I went on alone. I was a bit disappointed that we were not traveling with family or friends as we have done in the past. But travelers and crew were all friendly and helpful. The Good-Amazing efficiency. We did not have a single Gltch in any part of the process. Embarking and Disembarking was a piece of cake even with ling lines and many different languages to maneuver. Booking excursions was a breeze with the Norwegian App. We booked and within 5 minutes our tickets were in our door slot. The same efficient process was true for excursions that were canceled or changed. Refunds were quickly made. Our bill at the end did not have any errors. As far as rooms go, our balcony room 10544 was spacious for a ship, clean and had lots of storage. The ship as a whole was clean. Try the Whisky tastings. The Average - the hot tubs were packed and a few hot tubs had broken knobs. The water was tepid. I thought they had plenty of deck chairs too. Lines to the bar where the standard drink package applied were long and some adults were pretty rude to other guests about whose turn it was to order. Staff saw the interactions and chose to ignore. Entertainment was fair. The male dancers were fantastic. The Michael Jackson impersonator was very good and the comedian was funny. The bad- the Norwegian app only worked occasionally, the internet was not at all consistent too. Both were very frustrating. Norwegian needs to do better. The food-specilty restaurants were average and better than the complimentary but not wonderful. The buffet was horrible. Often times cold and luke warm offerings were the special of the day. Golden Corral is much much better. The Summer Palace was better than the buffet. At least we were served warm food. But over cooked eggs, over cooked protein was served consistently. Wrongly marked restaurant items were also the norm. A Chopped Ham salad sandwich was labeled crabmeat. I ordered the pork loin dinner and got two slices of ham. I think Norwegian thinks pigs are more versatile than they are. Food was a 1star most times. I also found out cruising in January doesn't mean you will get the cruise you expect. Stops were changed, excursions canceled due to the whims of mother nature. We had a good Italian Captain and he made our misadventures as comfortable for all. In short, I would certainly cruise on NCL again, but just as a preference, I like the formal dining better than freestyle so I would chose another cruise line that offers that first. Read Less

My girlfriend and I booked the cruise because we were interested in trying NCL after sailing with RCI twice and because it seemed like a decent deal. Very disappointing experience, they were performed well below RCI. The food was a huge let down, the one asian dining spot Lotus Garden had some of the worst asian food I've ever tried. The buffet did not have as many options as the RCI cruise ships and the dining room food was down right bad at times. Many of the entrees were not cooked well and I was particularly disappointed at the fried chicken entree that I ordered. It sounded like a safe choice and yet it seemed like it neither the chicken or the batter they used had any seasoning whatsoever. I did not try any of their paid dining areas. The service was not up to par either in the dining areas. We were not given explanations of what many dishes were, it seemed as though we were a nuisance when asking about what certain dishes were, asking for recommendations and asking to add on to our order. Many of the waiting staff did not seem interested in serving and providing good service. The one redeeming aspect of this ship is the cheap drink package. Cocktails were good, bartenders were good. Beware that bottled water for a non upgraded drink package is 4 to 5 dollars and on their private island your drink package is invalid... seems like they're penny pinching. The entertainment on board was quite mediocore overall. The musical and dance performances we attended were below average, reading the bio of the performances they seem to hire new graduates in the arts and it is reflected in their performance. They had one person do stand up comedy which was great and the acrobatics performance we saw was not up to par with what RCI has to offer and in the middle of the performance cut to a projector screen for a maybe 480p video for 3 mins while the performers changed outfits.. completely ridiculous. Otherwise their lounge and fitness areas were average. We only did one shore excursion with NCL and that was for a ship to take us to the local area of Belieze for 25 bucks. They overbook the speed boat and it was a tight squeeze. It seemed quite unsafe to me and on top of that you only go for 3 hours and need to pay more if you would like to stay longer and take a later boat. Dissapointing on NCL side. Our room was not up to standard either. It was mostly clean when we came but the cupboards were sticky and seemed to have something spilled in it that just was not checked. Our housekeeper seemed nice, but did not seem to respect the do not disturb sign we had outside. He knocked on our door to give us the itinerary and when we told him to leave it outside he stood there. I don't know if he had heard us or not, but he shouldn't have knocked anyways. On the last day he also came into our room when we had the do not disturb sign on and I think it was to cover up for not checking the minibar prior to us, which he then billed to us after cleaning up our room when we had do not disturb up. We had a horrific time dealing with guest services trying to dispute the charges from the minibar. We had gone late in the evening close to 10 after realizing that he had put the receipt on our table and the gentleman from guest services assured us that the 30 dollar charge would be refunded. It was not, he clearly had made a mistake and we went back at 2 in the morning to be told the housekeeping department that was in charge of minibars was not open and we needed to come back at 7... on the morning of disembarkment. The morning of, the gentleman we spoke to called the housekeeping manager who eventually asked us to go up to the room to discuss with him because "the charge was a large amount". We refused and refunded our service charges because we were furious at this point. I would have just left this very lengthy and negative review for NCL, however they don't even have an area for me to leave them a review... clearly they don't care about what their customers think. We have been looking for a long time and we thought we got a great value for our money ! It took a long time before I felt comfortable enough to be on a big ship for a long time. All of that worry went out the window when we first boarded the ship...If all the cruises on Norwegian are like this you might just have a customer for life...The entertainment was wonderful and balanced with something for everybody... It would be prudent in this day and age to make certain sexual and gender innuendos that might insult some of your passengers.... not being preachy just a word of caution...Otherwise I will look forward to returning again! The food choices were more than adequate and the service staff was excellent..We only wish that on some of the ports there was more time to to be able and enjoy the surroundings more like an overnight stay__say like a day and a half rather than just a few hours...But the experience was not diminished....WELL DONE! This was our first cruise in Europe as we are from Australia. The organisation getting on the ship at Rome was very well organised and very quick compared to other cruises we have been on. The rooms were very nice, well fitted and clean, also among the best we have experienced. We did not like the dining experience on deck twelve as it was like pigs feeding at the trough. Other restaurants were very nicely laid out and for the most part the service was quite good. We had the alcohol package which we found to be quite good value as compared with other cruises we have taken, but were annoyed that with the package we still had to pay for coffee other than the vile stuff that was served with meals. And also had to pay for bottled water. I am a person who likes to take a sauna on a cruise so imagine my surprise when told that I could BUY a sauna package for $260 US to have a sauna. (NOT GOOD). The entertainment was well below par, for the most point I think it was carried out by the ships crew and some very mediocre performers, so if your think you will have a huge range of entertainment think again. The ports of call were quite interesting and if you want to organise your own tours I would recommend it rather than pay the extortionist prices charged by the cruise line. The fee to travel to Rome Airport you should also try to organise yourself as the ship line first charged us 80 Euro each, then later in the cruise put out a SPECIAL of $60 US. The same trip can be got for about $35- $40 per head (More Gouging). Yes overall we had a good time but this was mainly from meeting nice people and having a good time with little help from the cruise ship. Would I go again, I would say probably not. Read Less

My husband and I were on our honeymoon, the service on the ship was fantastic, the servers were friendly and upbeat. Positives: Friendly servers in all common areas of the ship, buffet, pool, bartenders..   All fine dining was great except the Brazilian steak house, it took 40 minuets to receive a cocktail, the meat was salty and dry and the servers were acting like they did not like their jobs and it was a pain to be there.  The pool deck was a positive energy, I would suggest more contests they are fun to watch and to get people involved. Negatives:  with so many stops in a short time period, it was hard to explore the stops and still make it back in time to the ship. We did not plan an excursion every day. Some days it took longer to get off and on the ship then we had time at the port. - if you do not have a excursion booked transportation was priced very high. We spent about $500 in transportation just to get to a place we wanted to be. In Livorno we got off the ship and they made us pay $5 to take a bus to the town, you had to pay this because there was nothing in walking distance, i think that should have been included in the price of the cruise, its almost double dipping when you have to pay to get dropped off at a port. They should either let off at a place that you can explore or they should pay for the transportation to get you into the town where you need to be. We are younger so getting around was easier for us but i saw several older people struggling to figure out where to go and how to get there. In all my past cruises this was never an issue. With already spending so much on a vacation you don't expect to have to spend such a large amount just to get off the ship. Naples was very dirty, i would suggest not doing this port at all, or warn people it is a very unsafe area to be in unless you have tour booked. Read Less

Cabins 9076 was great with a great guy who cleaned up our room every day. Lots of bars to choose from. Also great entertainment in the Stardust Theatre. Shore excursions were great but found them a little expensive. We would definitely choose Norwegian again. Great trip. Embarkation and disembarkation went very smoothly. Found the crew very friendly and helpful. Great choice of single entertainers. Ship was very stable no rocking. Seemed very organized when tendering the passengers to places that the ship could not port. Very pleased the captain went into Santorinni even though it was very windy and other ships cancelled. That was one highlight of the trip. Also great port to start out in as we went 2days in advance to Venice. Really enjoyed it. Read Less

I chose this cruise as an alternative to my 13 day cruise which was cancelled day before I was scheduled to leave for Rome. Overall cruise was good but NCL charges you for everything. (WiFi extra, soda extra, fancier restaurants, bowling extra, excursions extra, daily per person service charges, transfers from airport extra) Ship was average, but 2 pools are not enough for the amount of people. Cabins were kept up very well by stewards. Dining was average about the level of average Marriott hotel food. Evening sit down meals were better but again NCL charges extra for steakhouse, Italian, and Japanese. Excursions are too expensive and I was better off booking them myself. Ports were good and bad. Santorini, Mykonos were amazing. Florence, Messina, and Napoli were good. Kotor and Dubrovnik were very dirty and not much to see. Service in restaurants was hit or miss but overall a bit better than average. Entertainment was actually surprisingly good. Magic show, acrobats and cruise director were excellent. Spa services were solid but pricey as expected. Fitness center although small was functional. Embarkation and disembarkation was very smooth and efficient but the rendering process was not fair as some people got tendering tickets early because they had excursions planned so you would loose a lot of the day waiting. Staff was awesome during reboarding offering hot towels and drinks. “Red” was awesome, he greeted people with a smile and songs when you would enter the Garden Cafe and was super chearful. Read Less

We were excited about visiting several countries we had never been to, including Russia. Really did not consider the onboard entertainment; but it was super! The only real issue was excursions. We booked two through NCL and two on our on. the two we booked were phenomenal, but both the Hop on Hop off in Finland and the guided excursion in Gdansk had issues. To NCL's credit they refunded part of our payment in both cases. Our cabin was very nice, but the cabin steward must have been new. He was very nice, but left things out of place when he cleaned. The bar and restaurant staff were exceptional. A little disappointed in the food in La Bistro and Moderno, but pleased everywhere else. The gym was too warm and we did most of our excersize on the promonade deck even thouigh it was very cool and windy mast days. Overall my wife and I really enjoyed the Pearl and the iternary was once in a lifetime for us. Read Less

I have been cruising for 40 years. My very fist cruise was on NCL Starward in 1984. This was a theme cruise which it why I chose it. The Summer Palace was beautiful, the dining room staff was very pleasant, but the food. OMG! Terrible is an understatement for the worst dining room food I have ever experienced. I am amazed at how bad it was! The menu never changed, & the menu descriptions did not describe what they brought out. Crispy fish that came out poached, Bourbon chicken that was really BBQ, mystery sauces on everything! I never went back after day 3 except to look at the menu. The buffet was OK, & I mean just OK. My 1st cabin smelled liked sewage. But, lucky me, there was a water pipe break day 2 which flooded most of the deck, I was able to pack up & move, but my new cabin was in a less than desirable location, over loud equipment used by the staff in the early AM & right under The Stardust Theatre. But at least it didn't smell. Cabin stewards were nice. Most of the people on the ship seemed to be miserable working there & the officers seemed quite unfriendly. Once you are trapped at sea, they nickel & dime you to death! I would swear the ships stabilizers were broken it was so rough. I have never been sea sick before, so I don't if it was that or the bad food, but I stayed queasy for 7 days. I do not believe in saying never, will I will never sail with nor recommend NC to anyone. This ship needs a total remodel. AVOID! Up side, I lost 5 pounds. Read Less

We have taken over 20 cruises and I must say, this ship had the worst cabin housecleaning and the worst dining room food that we have ever experienced. We should have known considering at the very beginning the previous passenger's shaver and shampoo were in shower! Even after complaining and having the room cleaned again-balcony was never touched. Mirrors still had streaks. The rest of the the staff were just as awful. Bartenders. Dining room staff. They barely spoke to you. And that food in the dining room? Diner quality. And the sushi we paid extra for-supermarkets do a better job. Buffet never changed-day after day. Boring and limited! Private NCL island we visited was extremely expensive. Food and drinks were not included like most other cruise lines with their own islands. Upon returning home it's amazing how many people have told us how bad NCL has become. Do yourself a favor-choice another cruise line. Read Less

The Pearl was it very first cruise 10 years ago and w still love it. But we noticed one thing, the drink lines were very long and it seemed like there were less staff. We still had a wonderful time and we got our credit to cruise again. I tried the accupunture this time, it was okay but I don't think it's a long enough time to get good results. We absolutely love the thermal spa for adults only. It was great to go relax every night and relax in the hot tub that was not filled with kids. We loved the excursions, we always try to do something that's we cannot do where we live. There monkeys and the turtles were definitely the highlight for us. The guides are always informative and interesting to talk to. We feel safer to book with the cruise so we know they will wait if the excursion gets delayed. Read Less

Bad stuff: The food doesn't change, and the dishes served are butchered horribly. The tip is forced onto you no matter what. Maybe instead of putting the responsibility of sustaining the staff financially on the customers, the NCL could actually pay their employees. The excursions are ridiculously boring, since everything is staged for wealthy tourist entertainment. You will not see any of the real culture anywhere. The best part is that on top of paying $2000+ for your trip you will not be able to see anything at all unless you are willing to put down another $500-$1000 for the excursions. Day activities were often cancelled due to wind like they don't know that there will obviously be wind in the middle of the Carribean. Good stuff: The gym is excellent. Every new day included group workouts and yoga sessions, as well as open gym time. The equipment is in very good state. The night entertainment is very diverse and the staff is very nice and kind. Very unmemorable cruise event. Overcrowded pool and hot tubs. We didn't;t get in pool or hot tubs as seemed at risk for germs with side by side throngs of people really-really drinking. Ship decor-tired; food in restaurants was average but low quality in buffet dining room as was always cold (if supposed to be warm); desserts and breakfast rolls 100% pre-packeaged, dried-out, cardboard-like and high sugar-fat content. fresh fruits were good. Stopped at Freeport as was unsafe to ferry to original stop. Freeport was a dreadful, depressing collection of dirty shops desperate for tourists to buy any type of junk. There was nothing we wanted to buy and absolutely nothing to see in the tiny area in which we were let out in. Such a disappointment and cruise-line did nothing to make it better like a champagne toast or absolutely anything.Cruise-line very intent on selling anything and everything (art, jewels,casino...) Love NCL as a general rule. Did not want to go on large ship. Had sailed on Pearl previously .this cruise was not what we had hoped. Quality of food has significantly declined from previous cruises. Specialty restaurants are not up to par. Steakhouse was not equal to local chain, fillet was dry and tasteless. Took just shy of an hour to receive food with ghost of server who did not bother to appear or apologize. We tried to get change in order to tip above what was already included in our drink package. Was surprised to see small charge on tab for ordering what might have been specialty drink. They offer a Premium drink package, they must be attempting to upgrade for more bucks. Past cruises offered big sales on cruise merchandise, everyone loves a bargain. Lattitudss with gold standing offered discounts in NCL merchandise but guess what? They have taken pains to remove Norwegian from most merchandise. Now shirts say Sea something or other. Why tout this as big deal when there is not much to buy to take advantage of this perk. Daily itinerary stated hig sale including t-shirts but there weren't any, not a single shirt. Sale in gift shop was to include tshirts but once again, nine were on sale. Prices were inflated, $28 for ordinary shirt. Disembarking was a mess. Passengers ended up being traffic cops, telling passengers getting off elevators, go this way or that. One employee standing at dar end by door did not make for smooth exit. Sorry you see cut backs in quality, used to brag on food but can do so no longer. One couple traveling with us will not be back. Losing customers is never a good idea, especially if they've sailed with NCL 6 times. Smaller ship meant less entertainment. No real headline acts to draw people in. Entertainment was sub par. The ship has been refitted in last few years, we had no complaints as far as our cabin was concerned, mini-suite was perfect for two. Had a few small issues first day which were quickly resolved. I would prefer visiting foreign ports rather than Florida, Key West was nice but island would be better. I believe we will cruise again, on NCL, like the freestyle method, eat when anx where you want, no forced time of table assignments. If you have never cruised NCL dont be discouraged by this negative review, NCL offers lots of plans and freedom to choose, they actually do more right than wrong. Read Less

This was my first cruise and we went with the Norwegian Pearl out of the Port of Tampa. Over the cruise exceeded my expectations. Staff was all extremely friendly and helpful and very entertaining. The port was awful, we waited two hours to get on the boat and over and hour to get off the boat, very unorganized. We went to Harvest Caye, the island owned by Norwegian and it was very over priced and disappointing. All of our other stops were amazing and we enjoyed all of our prebooked excursions and tour guides in Cozumel, Honduras, and Costa Maya. The food and drinks were great other than the 24 hour restaurant. We were not happy with the daily gratuity charges of 14.50 per person per day. We also wish there were more hot tubs on the ship. I chose Norwegian because I have had nothing but great experiences on previous NCL cruises. This time, embarkation and debarkation were nightmares. It was like this was the first time they were doing this. For this reason alone I am reconsidering cruising out of Tampa on NCL again. The ship was clean, our cabin steward was pretty good, the food was not bad but not a great variety as in previous cruises. Also, the Summer Palace is the place to dine for complimentary meals. It is by far the nicest restaurant. Indigo is a dark hole and the buffet is not too bad but other cruisers are not as conscientious about handling food and being courteous. A lady dunked her chicken drumstick in the gravy instead of pouring it over her food. Another lady was unwrapping the silverware on the tables, touching them and then wrapping them again. What kind of crap is that? Also, the food did not stay at the right temperature unless you got there as they were putting it out. The entertainment was disappointing except for the comedians and Duo Quintessence. The staff was friendly and helpful. The ports were also disappointing. Unless you paid big money to do excursions, the areas around the ports were dirty, run down and the vendors hounded you nonstop. The few excursions that we did were way overpriced. It is always an experience to travel to other places but this is not a cruise I would want to do again. Read Less

Embarkation was a nightmare in Tampa, with a delay that had us wait from noon till boarding at 6 pm. People were actually passing out and being carted off on stretchers, all supposidly because of a lengthy Coast Guard inspection. Heat and humidity and standing in line was a nightmare. However, the cruise found its stride soon after - and has proved its worth. Nice entertainment each evening. Magician, juggler, acrobats, Legends performers, even the house band was better than expected. No booming reggae band at poolside thank goodness. Food was very good throughout, from the buffet to dining rooms to specialty dining. All were ideal, though we had to have our steaks cooked a bit longer at Cagneys. The drink package is an overall good thing, one less thing to worry about. But the agreed upon prepaid gratuity does add up( $ 450 for two weeks), especially when we found ourselves hitting all the local spots at our port o calls. Dont mean to complain about this, but I will reconsider in the future. Some ports were a bit dicey with poverty / beggars ( Colombia - Guatemala ). Panama Canal was very educational. Our cabin (8544) was acceptable since we have actually had smaller ones, but many first timers will complain of the size. Overall a nice, pleasant, fun experience - and yes I would do it again. We are returning customers. Our previous experiences help us deciding to take this trip also. Are we disappointed this time or what. Room is clean. Shows are ok. The restaurants are not what they promoted. There's no free style. No shorts. No caps, no sleeveless shirts for man but ok for women. Food is unacceptable. Some of the crew members are great. Some look down to you if you order coffee or water. We traveled with Celebrity, MSC, Holland, Princess, Carnival and Norwegian. An advise for the entertainers, stay away from political jocks. Not nowadays. The people are already divided politically as never before. We're on the cruise to get away from this issues. Please, don't build up tension anymore than it already is. Buffett has a large selection of culinary cuisines but the quality is absent. Sugar free sweets are not offered. We hope that the rest of this trip will be fine. Read Less

This was my 23rd cruise (mostly on NCL) and my 2nd cruise on the Pearl, and my background as a former Flight Attendant with American Airlines during the 70’s-90’s (back when it was Fun to fly and I had hair…) when I worked First Class, it provides a unique perspective. Our 1st cruise on the Pearl was to Alaska Labor Day week 2017. We booked this cruise shortly thereafter. I was also the CC Coordinator on both Pearl cruises, we had over 70+ couples who joined us on this San Diego - Tampa cruise via the Panama Canal. Staff Officer/Hotel Director Cary (previous experience was the Waldorf Astoria Hotel Director in NYC) is the only NCL Hotel Director that hosts an end of cruise meeting with myself and other CC members that would like to speak to the senior staff. I interacted with many passengers during this 2 week cruise regarding their experiences which enabled me to share some comments/feedback to the Pearl Staff - in addition to my own observations. I won’t be commenting on the day to day of what we did/eat/excursions, etc., but rather comment on our overall experience. I must say that NCL has improved greatly over the past few years and their FreeStyle is refreshing from some of the other cruise lines offerings. The main dining rooms to the specialty restaurants are indeed a treat. Never did we find a menu that was boring or repetitive during our 2 weeks on board, nor were we served anything that wasn’t fresh and tasty. I can’t say that about some of the finer restaurants in America. Even if NCL didn’t have any specialty restaurants, the Main Dining rooms would be superb. But, the specialty restaurants do add a unique experience in ambiance and taste, so if you would like a special evening, you can’t go wrong with whichever one(s) you chose to try. The Pearls staff are top notch, to say the least. The Captain (airplane or ship) sets the tone for the crew and it shows. I observed Officers picking up garbage on the pool deck, and other Officers rearranging lounge chairs in the clubs. The crew observes this so they in turn go the extra mile to serve us. Like I mentioned previously, NCL has risen in the ranks these past few years in my book and I can’t say enough good things about their staff. From the Cabin Stewards/Stewardess’, Pool Bar Servers to our Wait Staff and Bus Boys to the crew that we never see. As the CC Coordinator for this particular cruise, we organized a Halloween Costume Pub Crawl after we left Cartagena, Columbia. We had a lot of CC participants and as a bonus, the Pearl hosted a Haunted House in the Bliss Lounge. That was a fun memorable evening for all. Overall, this was a wonderful cruise! The Cruise Director and staff did a marvelous job of keeping us entertained for many sea days. NCL’s entertainment was top notch, plus a seasoned speaker/expert on the Panama Canal. Yes, we are booking with NCL again and the Pearl in particular. To me, that is the best write up/endorsement that I can make. Thank you NCL Pearl for being the ultimate Vacation Hero! Read Less

We went on this particular cruise with this particular cruise line because our son was recently hired as a crew member, and this was the last Alaska cruise we'd be able to take with our son on board. So the destination, Alaska, was our decision, but the ship and dates were determined by our son. He's a dancer with the production cast, and the entertainment was GREAT, first class every night--singers, dancers, tribute artists, hilarious comedy and a world-famous acrobatic team! Wow and double wow! The house bands were showcases in and of themselves as well. And Cruise Director Vincent is a superstar of energy, personality and talent all rolled into one!! The food was very good--the buffet was great, but too few tables for two and too many half-empty larger tables in the Garden Cafe, so it was often a hassle getting seated. The Indigo and Summer Palace dining rooms were VERY nice--elegant feeling, great waitstaff, delicious food and reasonable portions. The public areas are large and welcoming, but the chair seating everywhere is terrible--uncomfortable chairs arranged in ways that didn't make any sense and were difficult to rearrange. We had an inside cabin, which was all we could afford, and it was really quite fine. It was too cold to take advantage of a balcony on this cruise anyway, but a window would have been nice--maybe next time. Crew members everywhere were uniformly friendly and helpful, and as our cruise progressed and more crew learned that we were the parents of one of them, we really became part of their family. For the size of the ship, it's easy to get around, and for the number of guests, getting on and off at port was very efficient. The only criticism I have is how often and how much they attempt to up-sell you everywhere for everything. I do not enjoy being bothered so much to lay down more money when we've already spend thousands. Maybe most people who cruise like this just have lots more money to spend than we do. Maybe that's what a cruise is these days. Read Less

Seeing Alaska was my lifelong dream . Thanks to Norwegian Cruise Lines that dream came true ! They took care of everything ! The booked the cruise ,giving me the room I wanted plus booked our airline trips to Seattle and back home. We were picked up at the airport and taken to ship for embarkation . Going through embarkation was really easy , as they had already informed me of what I could bring and what not to bring ,also what to carry in my carry on bags. Our luggage was taken from the airport to our room , we did not have to handle it any. The dining room was waiting for us with plenty of food ! The fresh fruit was sweet and fresh, the breads were So good and there was such a selection for the main course that I can't name them all. Every dining room had plenty of good food for the taking ! The on board entertainment was Excellent ! Never a boring moment ,unless you choose to have one. Our room stewardess was friendly ,sweet ,helpful and kept our room freshly cleaned at all times. The service all over the ship was superb! Everywhere you went the crew was willing and able to see to your every need. This was the first time ever that I have been waited on and not had to cook or wash clothes or wait on someone else . It was Wonderful !! I don't know how one Cruise Line was able to find so many nice and friendly people , but they did. The shore excursions were perfectly planned and executed . There is simply no way they could have been any better ! The Best of Skagway was simply the best ! The fishing trip my husband went on ,was everything he wanted , he caught a dozen fish ! If I am ever fortunate enough to be able to go on another cruise it will definitely be with Norwegian Cruise Line . My vacation was everything I had hoped for and the biggest part of the reason that it was is because NCL saw to it that everything was taken care of for me , all I had to do was relax and enjoy ! Oh yeah , I almost forgot to mention the massage , oh my you want to get one !!! Felt like a hour of heaven ! Read Less

Staff, most were great, but the people working in the buffet area that cleaned the tables sucked! They would just walk past the tables and not even attempt to clean them off. Most time we had to sit at a dirty table and if your lucky they would come clean it off. Food was good in the buffet, but better in the outdoor cafe and the staff were better at cleaning up maybe because it was outside. Dining hall staff were very attentive food was good. Ship was clean, bathroom is larger than Royal Caribbean’s. Loved the alcohol tastings that was very informative, and interesting. But I have never been on a cruise where the workers that ran the excursions were so nice, informative, helpful, overall amazing customer service. I don’t think anyone can top them, and this was our third cruise, so we have been on a few excursions. Read Less
