First time cruisers - Alaska bound!

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Norwegian Sun

We chose this cruise based on desire to visit Alaska through beautiful scenery, great fishing and land excursions and for uninterrupted family time. We were traveling as a family of 8 and enjoyed our trip and the scenery was gorgeous. Please note that we are all FIRST time cruisers and no very little about what the process entails from beginning to end. We booked the Owners suite and the ...

We chose this cruise as I wanted to do a one way trip this time. A few years ago we did a round trip Seattle on Celebrity, and it was sad seeing the other ships heading north on the last day when we had two days at sea heading south. This was our second NCL cruise, it was great but not as good as our first one, which was a Caribbean cruise. There wasn't much live music this time, dance ...

Very nice stateroom. Lots of room and storage, the room however is behind the stairs, so there was a lot of noise especially when luggage was being retrieved for disembarkation. The food was not what we expected. We ate in the Four Seasons and the Seven Seas for most meals. The service there was fabulous, but the food was not the par to what we have had on previous cruises. We expected fresh ...

Great with a few issues

The main dining hall was great, with great service and food. Each port it was very easy to get on and off of the ship. They did a great job at the glaciers, getting close, and giving great explaining what was going on. The only issues were with the bar tenders and cruise director and his staff. The bar tenders consistently got my drink wrong. I ordered gin and sodas but consistently got gin ...

We sailed the Sun from Vancouver to Seward in July: two parents, two teens. We had two inside staterooms, which were surprisingly roomy with great storage. The ship is dated in décor but very well maintained. Throughout our cruise, all staff were gracious, service-oriented, friendly and welcoming. We were really impressed by this--it made every interaction positive. We ate most breakfasts and ...

This cruise was a great experience. The ship was very clean, service was outstanding - especially the bar staff and cabin stewards. Offers a wide variety of food options and the beverage package is a plus. Getting on and off the ship (Vancouver and Seward) was very easy. We chose to dine at several of the specialty restaurants and found them to be very good. If you plan to drink the Beverage ...

We were a multi-generational family group with one 9 year old child, two sets of grandparents and my DH and I. First cruise for ALL of us - so none of us knew what to expect. I did HEAPS of research and was the main trip-planner for our group, so I read loads of reviews and got thoroughly bogged down trying to choose which cruise, which itinerary, which ship, etc. In the end the sail date from ...

This was our first time cruising so we really had no idea what to expect. We chose NCL because they offered the Denali land tour. We chose to park at SEATAC and take a shuttle to Vancouver. i will try to break my review into sections: Embarkation/Disembarkation - NCL did a great job of checking people in, clearing customs, and embarking. When it came time to disembark in Seward, the process ...

We were a family of 12 (aged 2-91) celebrating my mother-in-law's 92 birthday. She had visited 49 states and Alaska was #50. We had been planning this trip for over a year. My wife and I have been on several cruises, but for most of the group this was their first cruise. We booked 5 inside aft cabins, and I can honestly say they were quite spacious, with lots of storage space and closets. ...
