We originally choose Norwegian because it was less expensive. The cruise was fantastic. It was like a floating luxury hotel. The food was fabulous and available almost 24/7. It is interesting to note that I spoke with many other travelers from the Cruise (on the bus and at the Airport) and my comments below reflect what the majority also felt.
The ship is old and outdated. Needs a major overhaul. The Chief Cook and many of the chefs need to be sent back to Chef School to relearn how to cook and determine menus. We found that the best place too eat with ...

Friends recommended Norwegian and the Jewel cruises to Alaska from VanCouver. This was our first cruise in over 35 years my have things improved!
We were in a penthouse suite 9000 in the very front of the ship.

o Cruise looks out to dime and nickel.
o The art auction was clearly rigged and ran practically as a con job to sell low quality art items.
o Embarkation was super slow with grumpy people on counter
o Beware of video arcade area with kids - they do not limit in any way what kid can spent

We really enjoyed our time on NCL. We traveled as a family of four on the Jewel. Our two teens met lots of other teens in Entourage and really enjoyed their time as well (I overheard my 13yo say that her days at sea were some of her best memories of the cruise). We spent 2 days before the cruise exploring Whistler and Vancouver and definitely recommend it.
