My wife and I sailed a Transatlantic cruise after the Joy came out of a 3-week dry dock. We have sailed 30-35 times, mostly on Celebrity and Azamara. Last NCL sailing was 2016. This specific crossing was 60% of capacity.
The ship was clean and well maintained. Crew is ever present. The only location showing a bit of on-going construction was the area of the 24 newly-installed cabins where a ...
This was a transatantic from rome to new york. i did this cruise last year on ncl epic and didn't much like it, but i've been on the gem and other gem class ships and you were never in doublt you were on a ship, no matter where you were. it looked like a cruise ship, smelt like a cruise ship everyone knew. the giant floating shopping centers don't appeal to me. i don't want to have to board ...
We are on the Viva after spending 2 weeks on Virgin Voyages. I have the impression that both ships are trying the same thing.
However where Virgin dares to be different Viva goes almost there and the bottles out
Take the Galley on VV it's great, really nice food made fresh to order. Viva has the same concept but limits the space & choice because it has installed a traditional too small ...
Solo traveler...I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Partially blocked oceanview cabin was a delight...larger than cabins on newer ships. Stewards were awesome as were all staff. I was on Deck 8 midship...perfect location. Spent an overnight in Lisbon before embarkation...loved it. Lisbon is a beautiful hilly city that requires some stamina...but worth the effort.
Embarkation was a breeze. Food was ...
This was our sixth transatlantic cruise, the second on the Getaway and our eighth overall on an NCL vessel. Our cruise and the Getaway were par-for-the-course meeting expectations. No surprises or unexpected disappointments...It's one of the big ships with all the competitive bells & whistles. The staterooms & bathrooms are clean, somewhat spacious, comfortable and practical. A shortage of ubs ...
This was my 2nd cruise on the Getaway, having previously sailed on a 7-night Caribbean cruise.
I chose this cruise because of the unique itinerary being very late in the season for a ship to reposition to Europe. As a single, it caught my attention as there was no single supplement.
The pre-cruise preparation was simple enough, and entering in all information online went smoothly. ...
I spent my first Transatlantic cruise onboard the Getaway. I was already familiar with the ship, having taken her a few years ago for an 8-Day adventure through Scandinavia, Russia & the Baltic, which was incredible. The ship is quite comfortable and this time I was a bit nervous, as my bid for a balcony room was not accepted and for the first time in my half dozen cruises, I was in steerage (5th ...
Love cruising out of New York City. We are not loyal to any one cruise line and have cruised over 17 times.
We booked an Inside cabin and was upgraded to a Balcony as our Inside room was next to a utility room that was very noisy during the evening hours. The staff was wonderful about addressing this problem. We received a tray of chocolates for the inconvenience also. The rooms were both ...
My husband and I booked this cruise over a year ago, particularly excited about the Prima being a new innovative, slightly smaller ship, bucking the current bigger-is-better trend in cruise ship builds. A transatlantic cruise would be a first for us, as well as our first visit to Iceland, including 3 ports - a day each in Akureyri, Isafjordur and an overnight in Reykjavik. Perhaps the biggest deal ...
A repositioning cruise to Iceland really had us excited. We like and sail Norwegian more than the competition but we have enjoyed them all. It was a real plus to sail on the newest ship in the fleet.
We were concerned about some of the unflattering reviews we saw, but we kept an open mind about it. I am just comparing this experience to the 25 +/- other cruises we have been on.
Here is what ...
